Concealers -Garnier - Anti-Dark-Circle Eye Roller

Fantastic product. Ticks all the boxes: doesn't settle into lines, actually covers/disguises dark circles and sunken sockets, easy to apply, long lasting, good value, good for skin, sturdy packaging.... Really, this is the one! I use this every day and don't apply any other product except for Guerlain powder on top. Looks great in every light (and in photos). Completely undetectable and long lasting. LOVE it!!!!

Pressed Powders -Guerlain - Meteorites Poudre de Perles (Illuminating Perfecting Pressed Powder)
rated 5 of 5

I've had this powder for a couple of years now and it's taken me this long to write a review! At first I thought it was just OK and I actually shelved it for a while, but recently I've rediscovered it and am really LOVING it for the first time. I have the Mythic Parfait shade. My skin is very pale and clear. I'm not so young anymore, so I prefer to not look too matte but I don't want to look glittery/shiney either. This powder is perfect for me. I apply it over my moisturized face and sometimes use a little bit of undereye cream too. No foundation for me. I look all glowy when wearing it, right up to the time I cleanse my face at night. I love the smell, the feel of it on my face, the container, the appearance of the product and the results. There's nothing I don't like!! I'm actually thinking of getting the beige shade next, just to use for "contouring" (although I don't think it will have this effect in the traditional sense....just might give me some subtle colour with the glow). Beautiful product :)

Fragrances -Boucheron - B de Boucheron

Gorgeous! I can't really explain why I love this...just that it's a very classic fragrance that makes me feel very sexy and sophisticated. It comes in such a beautiful bottle too. I actually bought this online and unsmelled which is risky, but I'm so glad I did! Try it.

Conditioner -TRESemme - Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 7/2/2011 7:41:00 AM

I'm VERY happy with this conditioner! I bought the huge pump pack at Woolworths for about AU$5 because I didn't have much money on me at the time and the bottle said "silcon free". I always use the more "natural" products, and definitely nothing with silicon (makes my curly, fine hair very frizzy).....so this fit the bill. It feels really nice in the shower: slippery and detangling. It washes out well without leaving any coated feeling. My hair air dries in it's natural state to give silky soft ringlets and a lovely shine. This is rare for me....as I usually end up with fluffy, floaty, frizzy hair unless I use some sort of gel. With this conditioner, I don't need gel! Well....I do if I want hold, but this conditioner totally stops my frizz. I think that's pretty impressive. I haven't noticed any build-up yet and my hair feels really healthy and light. Yep...this stuff is the business for sure! I will buy again and plan on trying a CO wash with it and maybe even a bit as a leave-in. LOVE!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Suvana- Paw Paw and Honey Certified Organic Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
MissRini 8/22/2010 4:43:00 AM

Really nice balm, but does have some issues. Pros: lovely smell, very moisturising and soothing, easy to use (good squeeze tube), organic and natural Cons: gets lumps in it in cooler weather and sometimes hard to squeeze out of the tube, way too expensive for what you get (AU$9.95 from Target!! Twice what I'd expect) Overall, I would buy again as I haven't found anything better in the "natural" range of cosmetics available in Australia.

Treatments -Goldwell - Soft Color Foam Colorant
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 7/22/2010 7:29:00 PM

This is an amazing product that I'm always telling people about! It can be used as a toner for blonde hair (10P and 10V are the best), or can be used for quick root blending in between colourings. I have blonde hair and use both the toners and 8N to stain my white roots and blend them in to the rest of my hair. It does not damage your hair at all and gradually washes out. In fact, I'm thinking of using only this for a few months and giving my hair a break from oxidative colours. LOVE it. It's a pretty simple concept for a product actually and I wonder why no other brands have come up with something like this?

Eye Shadow -Inglot - Single Eyeshadow
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 7/19/2010 5:00:00 AM

Well this is it for me. I've found my perfect HG eyeshadow brand and I couldn't be happier! Inglot offers me everything I could ever want in an eyeshadow: long-wearing, highly pigmented, silky smooth, blends like a dream, huge range of wearable and unusual colours, reasonable price, different palette options, very stylish packaging....the list just goes on. The Inglot stores are also well presented with knowledgeable and helpful sales staff who do not pester (although sometimes they have a really "interesting" makeup look going!). They are only too happy to give you free samples so you can go away and try out new colours before you buy them. It's how I fell in LOVE with #593. I don't think I've ever felt so strongly about an eyeshadow before! It's the most unusual colour, so hard to describe. Sort of a light silverly taupe which looks slightly lilac on the eyes. A pearly shimmery finish, yet sophisticated and definitely NOT tacky on this 37yr old's face :) I also have 493 (what I'd call a true violet shade) and samples of others. I'm going in tomorrow to fill a palette and I honestly don't think I'll need any other eyeshadow in the forseeable future. I've tried all the high end brands, but nothing performs like Inglot. Bonus: it doesn't dry out my lids or cause any kind of reaction either!! Give it a try, I think you'll be impressed.

Eyeliner -Guerlain - terracotta kohl in Oriental Metal
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 6/4/2010 11:52:00 PM

LOVE this! I use it to line the outside of my eye (ie not in the "Eastern" way which I find closes my eye in just a little bit). It gives such a lovely natural look, but not as if you don't have make up on. You just look really polished and pretty :) This shade (Oriental Metal) is gorgeous against my hazel eyes. I find application incredibly quick, easy and precise. I don't get much fall out at all. I do have very long lashes, so perhaps the fallout gets caught on my lashes and I don't notice it? Anyway, I just lay the wand flat along my lid at the base of my lashes and swipe to the outer corner. Perfect line every time which doesn't need blending. It's not harsh at all, yet not too soft so it loses it's precision. You can tell it's there, but it's not screaming out "I'm wearing eyeliner!". It's perfect for me because I don't like to look made up at all (it's not flattering when you start to get wrinkles!). I also notice the subtle shimmer in this colour and I LOVE it. Others have said it, but I'll say again, the packaging is gorgeous and my husband actually thought it was a pendant I'd bought! I will definitely buy again and am looking at getting it in other shades (WISH they had a purple shade!!).

Treatments -Schwarzkopf - IGORA toning color enchancing conditiong treatment-pastel ash blonde
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 5/22/2010 3:24:00 AM

I bought this (in Iceflower) because my beloved Goldwell 10P was sold out. The SA told me that it does the same thing as Goldwell, but is stronger. I have to disagree, it is NOT stronger (ie it does not cancel orange as well as the 10P), but it is more conditioning and still does a pretty good job. I like the creamy texture too (the Goldwell one is a bit lighter and has more air in the mousse which is not a good thing). I think I will stick with this one actually as I can make it more intense by leaving it on for longer and using a heating cap.

Hair Color -Goldwell - Elumen
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 5/21/2010 3:35:00 AM

I'm suprised I'm the first to review this! I guess because this is a "professional" colour? Anyway, it can be easily purchased online (ebay and other online stores). Elumen is a deposit only colour, so it does not need a developer to do it's job. Of course, having said that, it will not LIGHTEN your hair at all. The way it works is by locking pigment into the hair shaft magnetically. The result is semi permanent colour which LASTS (more like a permanent colour) but does not damage your hair at all. In fact, your hair is left in better condition than before as it fills in your hair shaft making it ultra shiny and smooth. I used this is KB@7 which is a copper colour. I got a BRIGHT vivid result on my level 9 ash blonde hair. It looked beautiful :) However, after a couple of weeks I got sick of it and decided to use the Elumen "Return" product which essentially reverses the magnetic property of the dye and washes it out of your hair. I managed to get most of the dye out and then toned over it to counteract the copper. My hair is now in excellent condition and a lovely colour :) I HIGHLY recommend this line to anyone interested in gentle colour for their hair. They also have fantastic bright shades (like Blue, Pink etc) for those who are into that sort of thing. And there's a Clear for mixing any shade to make it lighter. It's no commitment either if you use the Return! The only problem is the expense, it is soooo expensive and very hard to get here in Australia. Other than that, I love it. Give it a try.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Lip Shimmer - Watermelon
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 5/7/2010 12:20:00 AM

I have a couple of these and watermelon is the BEST shade! Very natural pinkish colour which is light enough for me so that it does not look obvious on an un-made up face (which I like to do). It's also very moisturizing and long wearing. It's perfect really. Very happy I bought it :)

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - The Lion
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 4/27/2010 8:31:00 PM

Gorgeous scent to wear on a daily basis. I love it. It's very soft and tends to draw people into you. Some people have said it's unisex, but I find it quite feminine. There is spice, yes, but it's sweet spice. I am a HUGE fan of Amber, so it's no suprise that I love this one too. My husband loves to inhale this when he nuzzles my neck and thinks it smells like me. :)

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Accutane (by prescription)
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 4/21/2010 12:44:00 AM

I suffered from cystic acne for my teen years and into my 20s. I only ever got cysts, not normal pimples. I was put on everything from The Pill, Differin, antibiotics, clindatech, various creams and skincare regimes. Nothing worked for me. Finally, I decided enough is enough and was prescribed accutane when I was 27. I was on it for almost 6 months. My side effects were just dry skin, blood noses and VERY dry lips. I also had a minor initial breakout. The result was perfect, flawless skin which has lasted me 9 years. I've had maybe 3 small pimples in that entire time. Honestly, people commented on how lovely my skin was all the time! Sadly, in the last year, the cysts have returned and now it's time for me to do a second round of Accutane. I'm 37, so if I get another 10 years out of it, I'll be happy. Really, don't put up with acne, particularly if it's persistent and you've tried everything else. Life is too short to put up with bad skin so do it while you're young and can enjoy yourself :) Accutane is the ONLY thing that works, everything else is just a bandaid solution.

Styling Products -Kerastase - Nectar Thermique
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 3/17/2010 10:48:00 PM

Wow. Excellent excellent product! I'm so happy that I've found a Kerastase product which actually performs. I was really looking for a leave-in which would smooth my hair, tame frizz, define my waves/curls and give a bit of shine. I thought it might be too much to ask....I was wrong! This product does all of that and without weighing my fine hair down or giving it an odd colour cast (my hair is around a level 10 ash blonde, so some products are visible if they have a colour to them). I bought mine online and the price wasn't too bad (for Kerastase). I like the packaging, standing it upside down is logical and practical. The product itself has a very subtle pleasant smell and a good creamy consistency (you must shake the bottle beforehand). I washed and conditioned my hair, then used a GENEROUS amount of NT on my wet hair. I just scrunched it in and left my hair to air dry (without touching it). I don't use heat at all on my hair. The results are wonderful! I am really thrilled. My hair is so soft, and even on day two it remains so. What I also like about this, is that it does not seem possible to use too much and I feel as if increasing the amount actually increases the shine and soft feeling. Love it. This is definitely a keeper and one that will be repurchased. I just hope my hair doesn't suddenly change and decide it hates this......

Treatments (Eye) -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Transforming Anti Aging Eye Repair
rated 5 of 5
MissRini 3/7/2010 8:00:00 PM

Very impressed with this eye cream! I bought the sample size after reading all about the ingredients in this. I've always had good luck with MUAC, so I thought this would be a good bet. The sample size is a tiny little pot, but it's only $7 and you only need a tiny amount and after 2 months of use you can barely tell this pot has been touched! I think it's excellent value. I use it in the morning after I've moisturized, just pat a tiny amount under and to the side of each eye. It sinks in right away and is not greasy. It also does not make my eyes sting or feel tired as some other creams have done. Makeup goes on smoothly over the top. The biggest change I've noticed since using this cream is that the area underneath my eyes is not crepey or loose looking anymore. That's a big benefit! I'm 37 and starting to show wrinkles and looser skin so I was really looking for something to slow this process down and I reckon I've found it. I will definitely be buying the full size when this runs out, but I think it will take a year or two before that happens. If you are having the same concerns about ageing as I am, then I think this one is worth a try.
