Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Creaclip
rated 5 of 5

Surprised that more people haven't tried this! The Creaclip is a haircutting tool that you can use to cut your own hair or someone elses. It has a level in the center to help you hold the clip straight and get an even end result. I have a long somewhat layered cut and this works great! You can also use this for blunt cuts or cuts that have layering at the ends. The tool itself is made of plastic. The hinged end has a metal pin, so I suspect that this clip will last awhile. It has super fine teeth on the inside. She includes instructions on how to do basic cuts, but has like 50 videos on You Tube with demos on how to do different cuts. I paid 30.00 (as of 2/2013) for a larger white clip and a smaller blue clip. I think this would pay for itself in 6 months... easily. You could replace it once a year and still come out ahead, but it seems like it will last forever, so I dont think that would be necessary. Highly recommend.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Ivory Soap

LOVE Ivory soap! It cleans well and has a nice "plush" lather. Fragrance free for those that are sensitive. Great all-around soap that does what it says, nothing more, nothing less. Will repurchase again and again.

Fragrances -Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle
rated 5 of 5

My favorite fragrance of all time. I also have Chanel Chance and they smell very similar, but Coco Mademoiselle has incredible staying power. I'm not great at describing fragrances so I'll leave that to the experts, but this is truly a fragrance where if I could only afford one, it would be this one that I purchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme

My favorite heavy moisturizer. I remember my mom having the little tins around in her vanity area. I don't notice a difference between the German and Mexico version other than price. Theres a difference in the ingredients though. Anyway, a jar (which I love) lasts quite awhile. I put some in little jars and carry it with me. Can be used anywhere. :)

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Pure & Free Liquid Daily Sunblock, SPF 50
rated 5 of 5
MissMelanieM 7/29/2012 3:02:00 PM

Everything about this product is great from the packaging to the product itself. I like that its non-oily, that it comes in a dropper like package that is small enough to carry with me for reapplication and I like that its sheer. Its perfect for a reapplication OVER your foundation. It offers great protection. I've used this and the other similar Neutrogena sunscreens and have never had any problems with protection. Love will and have repurchased. *PERFECT* under makeup. You won't need to worry about a white cast.

Crème -Avon - ExtraLasting Cream-to-Powder Foundation SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
MissMelanieM 7/21/2012 4:31:00 PM

I purchased this in Creamy Natural. I'm usually lighter like Ivory, Bobbi Brown Sand, Laura Mercier Creme Ivory, Mary Kay Ivory 202. I like the consistency of this. Its not super oily and I don't feel the need to use a powder over it. Creamy Natural really isn't a very good match for me. I probably need a shade or two lighter. I'll use this as SPF in a pinch... the color is slightly salmony so it makes a terrific under eye concealer, but I don't think I will repurchase. It seems like it oxidizes a bit, and I had it on for maybe an hour and a half to go grocery shopping. I'll use it up, but I won't repurchase.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 5 of 5

I've purchased and used this for years. I think some of the problems come in when people that don't have normal to dry skin use this when they should be using the DDM Gel. I use this mostly on my neck after I use a Glycolic treatment pad. If I am dry otherwise I'll use it on my face too. Just a really great non-irritating product.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Just the Basics
rated 4 of 5
MissMelanieM 7/9/2012 5:48:00 PM

This review is for the shampoo for Normal hair. I purchased this at CVS on sale for $2.00 for 32 ounces! I tried it this morning and reallly like it! Its a clear shampoo with a light fragrance. Its a bit thin, but not excessively runny. I feel that the consistency helps me to distribute the product more easily through my hair. Haven't tried the conditioner yet but I plan to. Made in USA for those that are concerned about that. Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocoamide DEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, PEG-7 Glyceryl, Cocoate, Polyquaternium 10, PEG 12 Buteth 16, Polyquaternum 7, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylisothiazolinone, Fragrance.

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer

LOVE. NC 20/25 and I use NW20 under eyes and NC20 everywhere else. This is like Laura Mercier's Secret Camoflage (the duo pan compact) but it's slightly more moist than that and easier to blend. I love the SPF in this, and this also provides very good lasting coverage. Small pot is easy to carry with you for touch ups.

Treatments -Joico - K-Pak Color Restorative Styling Oil
rated 5 of 5
MissMelanieM 7/6/2012 1:53:00 PM

I really like this... second to Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. I like using silicone on my hair, and I like using oils. This has both. I've not noticed that it really helps my hair dry faster, but I love the fact that I can just use one pump and it dispenses the perfect amount.

Other -Paula's Choice - Beautypedia.com
rated 1 of 5
MissMelanieM 7/6/2012 7:34:00 AM

Paula has been bashing other beauty product lines under the guise of being a "consumer advocate" for years. She's not an expert at anything, she's simply someone that has done a little research and passed judgment on perfectly good products. She sensationalizes. I loathed her very first book. Imagine my surprise when she came out with a product line! Way to go Paula in setting your consumer up and then profiting off of it. Brilliant strategy. Everything else not so brilliant.

Received this in a swap. Its okay. Cute. Fun packaging but it smelled plasticky and melon-y at the same time. Not impressed. Will stick to my cherry chap stick.

Barely noticeable. Run of the mill sheer pink shade. May as well buy Sally Hansen Hard as Nails sheer pink in that fun vintagey bottle. Looks exactly the same.

Other -Rembrandt - Rembrandt Plus Peroxide Whitening Rinse
rated 5 of 5
MissMelanieM 6/5/2012 12:00:00 PM

I've bought probably 20 bottles of this. Its the most effective whitening mouthwash I have ever used. I see a noticeable difference with just one use. It has a tendency to foam up in your mouth, so you'll probably need to adjust the amount that you use to suit you so you can rinse with it long enough. I use the Rembrandt Intense Stain toothpaste formula, which is also excellent.

Lotions/ Creams -Ocean Potion - aloe lotion
rated 5 of 5
MissMelanieM 6/3/2012 1:24:00 PM

I FINALLY have found a lightweight lotion that I don't "react" to that smells great!! This smells like Orange Creamsicle and its sorta strong, but I adore the smell so its not an issue with me. I also love that this is made with canola oil and sunflower seed oil (two of the first three ingredients) as opposed to mineral oil. It soaks in nicely, although I need to reapply if I use this on my hands. Its the first body lotion that I can use that doesn't feel goopy and awful, especially in summer! Love it and plan to repurchase.
