Lipstick -Max Factor - Xperience Sheer Gloss Balm
MissMay95 2/20/2011 1:51:00 PM
I lovelovelove these balms! They go on very sheer, much less bold than they look in the tube, but I like that about them. They're quite moisturising, stay on well and feel very weightless. The only downsides are that they get used up fast, and are way more expensive than other lip balms such as vaseline . . . But then again, vaseline looks nowhere near as good! I would highly recommend them to anyone in the three shades I have; "pink oyster shell" "pink opal" and "coral".

Liquid -Clinique - Perfectly Real Makeup
MissMay95 8/21/2010 2:21:00 PM
I brought this foundation as I was looking for something lightweight and natural that I could wear to school, and this is really great for that. If you don't have much acne and just need to even skin tone a bit then it's perfect, and it looks like your natural skin. If you put too much on in one go it gets hard to blend, so if you want a more medium coverage do it in layers or learn the hard way! I personally find that with powder, it lasts the whole school day although I need touch ups after PE. I'm in the UK and paid £20 for this, which I think is reasonable as it lasts for a fair amount of time (5-6 months). I quite like the bottle it comes in as it looks very modern and the shape makes it easy to carry around (unlike Clinique's old superbalanced foundation which used to come in square glass bottles . . . nightmare!). Basically, if your skin concerns are minor, it's a good option as you won't need a heavy coverage. If you have acne that needs heavy-duty covering, you could try using this and putting concealer over the top, I suppose. If you have oily skin like me, I would recommend powder but dry skins won't need it.

Palettes -Urban Decay - Book of Shadows Vol. II [DISCONTINUED]
MissMay95 3/5/2010 4:38:00 PM
If you're new to shadows or makeup, I cannot recommend this product highly enough. You get 16 shadows, in sizes large enough to last you for a couple of years at least, and 2 eyeliners, plus a small UDPP! The colours are highly pigmented, blendable, and soft. Some of them are a bit too glittery for everyday use, but there are some matte and frost finishes in the palette. There is also a good mix of neutral colours (twice baked, sellout, half baked) and vibrant ones (ACDC, midnight cowboy, flipside) so that you can use the palette for many different looks. Overall, I am very pleased with the product but I wish the packaging was more practical. It's a bit too bulky for my liking; bulkier than it needs to be, at any rate. =D

Liquid -MAC - Select SPF 15 Foundation
MissMay95 1/31/2010 10:16:00 AM
I'd like to start by saying that the colour match was definitely the best thing about this product - I'm an NW 15 and find it almost impossible to find light enough foundations. However, I was slightly disappointed because MAC is such a hyped brand. The foundation is medium coverage and lasts quite well if set with powder, but I still need to touch up and I find that the little bottle is quite impractical (I didn't get the pump -d'oh!). Aside from that, I was quite impressed by the consistencty, and was pleased that it didn't feel heavy on my skin. Overall, I would repurchase, but I don't feel like I've found my HG foundation yet.

Concealers -Bourjois - Imperfection Concealer
MissMay95 1/31/2010 10:10:00 AM
After about 3 months of using this product on and off, the only conclusion I have come to is that it's "alright". I really like the cute leapord print case, and its' creamy formula, but I found it was hard to blend and the coverage wasn't fantastic. All in all, I think I'll continue looking for my HG concealer, or just stick to my MAC select cover up in the future. I said "no" to repurchase, but if I ever needed a concealer really badly I guess I could be persuaded - it's just really average =)

Lipstick -Clarins - Joli Rouge (all colors)
MissMay95 1/31/2010 10:06:00 AM
Let me start off by saying that I think this is my HG lipstick. I'm going down to the Clarins counter tomorrow to buy another 3, and after that, maybe I'll just buy them all! It was my mom who got me hooked on these, since they're all she uses, and I'm glad she did. The colour payoff is very good, the smell is divine, and the packaging is just what you'd expect - heavy, solid, and expensive looking without being "hey! Look at me!". I also found the lipsticks to be very moisturising and not sticky or drying at all; it actually felt like I was wearing lip balm or something similar. However, the lipsticks are slightly glossy and have tiny flecks of glitter in (don't worry, you can't feel them) so you do get a bit of a reflect. Perhaps not for those who are looking for a matte lipstick, but I otherwise urge you to try these!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide on eye pencil in Yeyo
MissMay95 1/12/2010 12:49:00 PM
Since I loved many of the other 24/7 eyeliners by Urban Decay, I brought Yeyo with the intention of using it on my waterline to enlarge my eyes. I was expecting the creamy, waterproof texture which they all have, and I was right. However, when applied to my waterline, the liner didn't last very long and was too shimmery to look natural - someone asked me if I had lined my eyes with a silver pencil, rather than a white one. I also found that the liner migrated to one the edge of my waterline, leaving me a sort of "rim" on my eyes. Not particularly the look I was goiing for. However, I decided to give the product 4* since it IS a good eyeliner, just not for the waterline. I've used it on my inner corners and under my lower lashline without problem, and just like the other UD liners, it's a reliable, idiot-proof, nicely smudgeable eyeliner, although in future I will probably be trying different brands for my white eyeliner.

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Lip Massage
MissMay95 1/10/2010 12:40:00 PM
As a lip-balm junkie, I feel qualified enough to say that this is a really awesome lip balm. Even without the innovative ridged applicator, I would still repurchase due to the silky, moiturising formula. Compared to other lip treatments on the market, it is a little pricey, but I feel like the strawberry vanilla buttery scent is all worth it! Another pro to this product is that the massaging action actually makes your lips look bigger, due to increased blood flow in the lips. However, I feel that the packaging made this balm more unhygenic to share than usual - my friends and I are always borrowing each other's lip balms - but really, this didn't affect my opinion. Overall, I recommend this product to anyone who has lips that are already in a good condition and who maybe wants a little bit of a plumping action along with a faultless balm, the only problem is that it runs out quite quickly, regarding price.

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves
MissMay95 1/10/2010 12:32:00 PM
This mascara really didn't work for my lashes. Whilst I loved the intense black colour and I felt like the brush shape was potentially a winner, the formula was a real disappointment. It clumped immediately, meaning that I spent longer removing clumps with an unused mascara wand than I usually spend on my whole morning makeup routine (okay - maybe I exaggerated slightly)! I have no qualms with the packaging, and the whole name/shape thing corresponding was cute, I admit. I really wanted to like this product, but unfortunately the clumpiness means that I probably won't repurchase another Rimmel mascara - unless the make the packaging really awesome =P

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Wave™ (Power-Cleanser And Deep Clean Foaming Pads)
MissMay95 1/10/2010 12:26:00 PM
I brought this product some time ago, and after using it solid for about a month, I was pleased with the results, and how soft my skin had become from using it before my nightly cleanse-tone-moisturise regime. However, I only gave it 3 stars for two reasons: the refills can become expensive quite quickly, and it eventually dried my combination oily skin out to the point where it was flaking constantly. Let me explain - after using this cleanser nightly, I was occasionally leaving it up to an hour afterwards without moisturising. BIG mistake - my skin dried out really badly, which makes me wonder what they put in the pads. It also stings like hell if you get them in your eyes! The pads themselves are lightly fragranced, a somewhat mint and lemon combination which I don't think would be particularly offensive to anyone; it's a very "fresh" smell. The Wave removes make-up superbly, and there was much less make-up residue on my cotton pads when I cleansed and toned afterwards than usual. I truly felt like my skin was 100% clean after using this product. To sum this review up, I would recommend this product, but I suggest also buying a rich moisturiser at the same time to prevent anything like my disgusting flaky experience =) To save money on pads, I suggest using both sides of the pad on consecutive days, meaning that 30 pads will last you 60 days instead of a month. It may be slightly unhygenic, but it will save you £5 a month =P

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Vitamin C Lip Smoothies Antioxidant Lip Color
MissMay95 1/10/2010 12:15:00 PM
Only four lipsticks for this one due to the pricey-ness. I brought this gloss in the colour "nude tritious", and I must say, the colour is perfection; a sheeny, glossy, glistening nude which matches me (and my fair skin) perfectly! On the downside, these glosses are STICKY. Personally, I can handle my lipglosses with stickiness to a certain extent, but every time I talked I could feel the gloss on my lips in a slightly unpleasant way. It's probably worth bearing in mind that I, however, am a sticky-lipgloss-aphobe, so for "normal" people this shouldn't be an issue. The little tube it comes in is cute, although there is very little product in it (I think it's 1.5ml or something equally as pathetic!). The click pen idea isn't particularly original, but it's pretty neat and makes a satisfying clicky noise everytime you use it. Upon your first play with it, though, I found that you may need to click it up to ten times to get the product to come out - I was worried for a while that there simply wasn't any in there! In conclusion, these lipglosses are a nice idea, even though I didn't particularly notice any moisturising benefits to them. If I re-purchase, it'll most likely be for the colours rather than the formula.

Eye Shadow -Barry M - Dazzle Dust
MissMay95 1/10/2010 12:07:00 PM
In a word: wow! These little pots pack a whole lot of punch, and I wasn't disappointed with the colour payoff. The price seems a lot for such a small pot at first, but you only need to teeniest of amounts, and gram for gram it's better value than other brands such as MAC and Bare Minerals. The pots themselves are packaged very cutely, with serious collectable-y appeal - lined up in my makeup drawers, they look adorable! Anyway, *cough* the pigment is finely ground and high intensity; the colour you see in the pot is the colour you get. However, you should probably be wary of fallout, and leave under eye concealer and powder until after - you'll only end up needing to re-apply them anyway. Plus, Superdrug often have 3 for 2 offers on these babies, so I recommend buying from there =P

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
MissMay95 1/10/2010 11:56:00 AM
I adore this mascara, and even though I tend to buy more expensive brands, this is the one I always come back to. Ever since I first tried it, I loved how it gave me a subtle lengthening effect - yes, that's right; don't expect incredible, false lash results. The brush is a good shape, the mascara doesn't clump (until after about 3 months, anyway), and it's overall a very flattering mascara. However, I do think that whether or not the mascara works for you is dependant on your lashes - just like everyone's hair type is different, so are your lashes. My lashes are naturally curly, quite long, and average thickness, with dark roots and fine wispy tips. If your lashes are similar, this is probably a good product, and it's so cheap it doesn't really matter whether or not it works <3

Powder -Clinique - Superbalanced powder makeup (spf 15) [DISCONTINUED]
MissMay95 9/27/2009 12:38:00 PM
Seeing as this is advertised as a sheer to medium coverage foundation, I was surprised to find that half a turn of the dial grater thing gave me more than substantial coverage. Clinique recommend that twisting the dial round to the next marker is enough, but I don't think you even need a quarter of that amount. The foundation itself is lightweight and leaves my skin smooth and fairly flawless looking (unless you get too close!). The shades are all fairly similar so I brought 02 natural, and it's a pretty close fit compared to the orangey foundations i usually end up with. The price is a slight setback, although you do get A LOT of product. I'll be using this everyday and I'm predicting it will last about 6-12 months if I only use a half twist of the dial. The packaging is like all clinique products; sleek and pretty but not too bold and over the top. The container itself oozes sophistication, and anyone who looks at it will probably guess what a high price tag you paid! All in all, I love this foundation although the little brush thing it comes with isn't fantastic. I'd recommend buying a kabuki brush from the Body Shop or something and using that with it =)
