Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
MissKiss 7/5/2011 3:11:00 AM
I had heard so many good things about this mascara I was really excited to try it. I bought it for around $40 which is the most I've ever spent on a mascara before so I was expecting quite a lot from it due to the price I was paying. After using it for 2 weeks I have to admit I'm quite disappointed with it. It does not hold curl well at all and I find it flakes off easily and I end up with black spots all underneath my eyes after a few hours of wear. On the plus side it does thicken my lashes quite a lot (however not as much as covergirl's lashblast) and I can get a nice effect. It also has a really nice florally sort of smell to it and the packaging is lovely. It comes in a nice gold tube but at the end of the day I don't give a damn what the tube looks like just whether the product itself works well or not! Overall it is an alright mascara but for the price that it is, there are drugstore products that are a lot cheaper and do a better job - so no, I will not buy this again. ________________________________________ EDIT 04/08/11 I have tried so hard to make this mascara work and am SO DISAPPOINTED with it! It smudges, flakes, doesn't dry, and clumps! For such an expensive mascara this should not be happening. It irritates my eyes and I don't have sensitive skin/eyes at all. I get much better results from drugstore mascaras and could not recommend this product to anyone. DO NOT BUY.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
MissKiss 6/6/2011 12:19:00 AM
I bought this for 10$ which I thought was a great price and I had heard so many good things about it. When I tried it, it did go on nice and smoothly with minimal clumping. It was also quite good at thickening my lashes, especially with multiple coats. However, I found the more I put on the less it held curl. Even with one coat my lashes were sort of droopy. It is very similar to Covergirl's lashblast mascara but I feel that after only one coat it looks better than the lashblast. After a few coats I think the lashblast looks better and holds curl longer. I would encourage everyone to try or have a look at the reviews for Elizabeth Arden maximum volume mascara as I got it around a similar price (15$) and found it to be a much better quality mascara.

Mascara -Elizabeth Arden - Double Density Maximum Volume Mascara
MissKiss 5/4/2011 4:46:00 AM
This is a beautiful mascara. It never clumps, doesn't smudge or flake and separates my lashes wonderfully. It does lengthen them a lot, however, I wish it did a little more for volume. It thickens them, especially with multiple coats but I have such high standards - I always want thicker!!! The price is really really good, and overall I am thrilled with this mascara. I have previously been using Covergirl lash blast which I still think is great but have had issues with it flaking and my lashes losing curl throughout the day. E.A mascara is cheaper than what I pay for the Covergirl and it doesn't flake and holds the lashes in a curl really nicely. My lashes don't look fake and spidery, but rather lush and long in a naturally defined way that stands out. Love it! Definitely would recommend.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Coppola- Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy Treatment
MissKiss 3/6/2011 7:08:00 AM
I'm not sure if I'm categorizing this correctly but I recently got a Keratin Treatment after hearing all the rave reviews about it. I have boofy frizzy hair that looks awful if I leave it to dry naturally and I was recommended this product by a hair stylist at a photo shoot. Anyway, I went to a place that used the Global Keratin brand but when I got there they informed me that GK had just recalled all the old product a couple of days ago because it had too much formaldehyde than what is legal in Australia. The hairdresser said that the new one they replaced it with isn't as good and won't really help with boofyness, but more just with frizz and softness. I almost left but my $175 deposit kept me firmly planted to the salon chair. After a big stuff up on the salons part they realised they didn't have ANY type of the Keratin left and had to get it sent by a taxi, whilst I waited in store for 2 and a half hours. Again, I kept telling myself it would be worth it to have gorgeous soft, silky smooth hair. When it finally came, the hairdresser was very rough with putting it into my hair so now unfortunately I have a lot of broken damaged strands that contribute to unattractive fly-aways. Also they told me to leave the Keratin in for only 48 hours which is contrary to everything I had read (4 - 7 days). So in conclusion, the result - It is softer. It is a bit easier to manage, not AS boofy but not smooth either. Does not straighten hair at all. There are lots of fly aways from damage during the process and there wasn't as much shine as I was told I would have. It might be a bit brighter but not noticeably. Over all it would be an good treatment just to help moisturize dry hair, but for the price I paid all up (including the shampoo and conditioner you have to get) which was $420 It was DEFINITELY NOT worth it. And I guess the bad experience at the salon I went to didn't help. I'm thinking I should have just left it in longer and not listened to the hairdresser and maybe it would be better. If considering this, make sure you check that it has formaldehyde in it or it will not work as well.

Brows -Unlisted Brand - castor oil
MissKiss 2/17/2011 12:27:00 AM
I have just used castor oil for the first time. I mixed it with some peanut oil and left on my hair for about 2 hours then washed it off. When I was washing it off it felt disgusting but now that it's dry it's super soft. My hair usually goes all boofy and frizzy if I leave it to try naturally but it's really helped, it is just nice and wavy now! I didn't notice a particularly bad smell coming from it like others have mentioned. I'm going to keep using this as I hear it makes hair grow faster, will write a review later whether it actually does or not.

Cleansers -Avene - Cleanance soapless gel cleanser for oily skin
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:52:00 PM
This stuff is great! It's my favorite cleanser, since I started using it I've gotten heaps less pimples and because it's by the brand Avene it's still really good for my sensitive skin and isn't harsh on it at all. I love it, and would recommend to anyone with oily or blemish prone skin.

Moisturizers -Avene - skin recovery cream (US name: cream for intolerant skin)
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:50:00 PM
This product is very expensive ($40 a tube) it does last a while but I have only been using it locally if I ever get any irritation. I don't think I could afford to use it as part of my regular beauty regime and put it all over my face. It is very calming to the skin and fixes up any redness or irritation I have. I love this product.

Treatments -Avene - Cleanance K
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:48:00 PM
I use this locally whenever I get spots and find it works really well. I apply after exfoliating and cleansing, and yes, there is a bit of tingling but I like that because I feel like it's working. It does get rid of spots very quickly but I don't know if it's because I use too much of it or do it too often but I will get general redness sometimes, I think because it works hard to get spots it is a bit harsh on normal skin. I can fix the redness with a bit of the Avene recovery cream though and it's fine :) Am interested to know if any one puts this all over their whole face? How do you use it? Will buy this again.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:42:00 PM
This is a really great powder foundation. I never really thought I could get such coverage with a powder but with this one you can build it to get a light or more full look. I got the tester pack and would just use it as a concealer but then I thought - why don't I just buy a full size and use it all over my face? It's pretty affordable and lasts a long time. It gives a great glow to the face (not dewy but glowy) and it looks especially great in photos. My skin always stands out and people comment on how great it looks :) On really hot days it's not that great because I found that you could kind of see where I was sweating from and I'd get little dots from my pores. Every other day it's great though :) Definitely will buy again.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:34:00 PM
I love love LOVE this mascara! I've been using it for years now, ever since I first discovered it. Oh my gosh, it is amazing. It's the only mascara I'd recommend to people - honestly it doesn't get better than this. I have quite short stubby lashes but a few coats of this later and people think I'm wearing falsies, no joke!!! It thickens and lengthens and is affordable too. It does flake a little towards the end of the day but the water proof one doesn't. I just don't wear that one because I find I end up damaging my lashes to try and get it off. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this mascara. Try it - you will not regret it!!! ___________________________________________________ I'm reviewing this mascara after trying some higher end brands. This mascara flakes and does not hold curl that well. It does do a great job at thickening but it will not hold for the whole day.

Bronzers -Natio - Liquid Bronzer
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:30:00 PM
I can't believe this doesn't have a higher rating! This bronzer is great for a nice natural glowing tan. You can mix it in with your foundation for an overall look, or just apply it on your cheeks. It's very summery and gives a healthy sheen. I'm not sure how good it would be for people with oily skin, but I'm pretty average and it works really well. The price is pretty good too and a little bit goes a long way. Also, fun fact for you - my friend's make up artist teacher has done Gwen Stefani's make up and she used this on her and she loved it!

Mascara -Napoleon Perdis - Peep Show Mascara - Madame Curl Curl
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:26:00 PM
Horrible! It is much too pricey and did not give me any curl at all. I've got a favorite mascara for about 1/4 of the price (not sure if I can say it on here or if that counts as advertising) and it works brilliantly as opposed to this junk! It flakes and clumps lashes. Napoleon needs to work on his mascaras, they are suffering.

Mascara -Napoleon Perdis - Long Double Black Mascara
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:23:00 PM
It's pretty obvious by the mascara reviews for Napoleon on here that it is NOT his strong point, with not a single type getting over a 3.5 rating. I want to love Napoleon as it seems like such a classy, professional, beautiful brand. And not to mention he's a fellow Aussie who's done really well for himself which is inspiring. But I just can't!!! This mascara does not do what it says, it will not lengthen your lashes. What it will do is make them clumpy and point out at all different angles. I would never, ever use this again. Do not buy it! Especially at the overly expensive price that it retails at. Also, do not be fooled by Napoleon staff if they try to tell you it will work better with the Prep Mascara. That's a joke, and a stupid ad-on sale.

Liquid -Napoleon Perdis - Sheer Genius
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:17:00 PM
I have done Napoleons make up course training and they were so excited about this foundation that when I got to try it, after all the hype I was incredibly disappointed. Apparently it's meant to have all the best characteristics of their other foundations all rolled into one. Firstly, you have to shake it heaps otherwise it comes out all watery. This is a pretty good indication the formula doesn't mix well together. Secondly, once it's on it's really hard to blend without leaving obvious make up lines. It is lighter than their other foundations but you can still see the make up, it doesn't look natural at all! Thirdly, the bottle it comes in is annoying, and it's impossible to not make a mess. And last, the price! For that amount of money, you might as well go out and buy something good like Nars or Bobbi Brown!!! It's a total waste of money. Overall, Yuck. Big fail Napoleon, try again.

Foundations -Napoleon Perdis - China Doll Foundation
MissKiss 2/9/2011 11:09:00 PM
I have a friend who has quite oily skin and she wears this foundation and it looks alright on her. With my skin, it doesn't look that good. It is really thick, and heavy and no matter how lightly you put it on, it's always really obvious you are wearing make up. So much for the 'natural' look...
