Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
MissJenifer 11/11/2012 10:12:00 PM
This isn't my favorite of the hypnose line from lancome - I would go with the star mascara because it will give you the same effect using the one side of the brush - and the benefit of the star is that it can also give you a more volumized look when you want it. That being said, if you're only looking for a mascara to give you a really defined lash - this is the one you are looking for! I like to layer my mascara - putting on two or three coats, and I find you can't do that easily with lancome mascaras - As I've said ad nauseum I think they are far too clumpy, regardless I like this mascara and I think it's a good investment if you are looking for strictly defined lashes.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Star
MissJenifer 11/11/2012 10:04:00 PM
I have made a few claims in my reviews about love love loving products - such as diorshow blackout and the hypnose drama ... but then along came the star! As a typical mascara addict, once a new one comes out, I have this compulsion to try - must have! I had read some reviews and found that people were kind of miffed about the brush, not sure how to use it etc. So I decided to try it anyhow - spoken like a true addict! ... I love this mascara. LOVE IT. I find that it does double duty - I can use it when I want to wear mascara to work, and it makes me look pretty without looking like a cage dancer (not that there's anything wrong with that!) ... or you can use the other side of the brush and build up the lash to add drama! I would say that this mascara tends to be a bit clumpy sometimes, but I think that about all lancome mascaras I have tried thus far. Overall - it's a definite must have!

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - thrrrob
MissJenifer 11/11/2012 9:52:00 PM
I hesitated writing this review because it wasn't that I didn't like the product. I am writing the review because I don't want other people with similar skin tone to mine to buy the product thinking it will work for them. I have a light/medium olive skinned complexion - as you can see by my picture... I fell in love with the color of this blush, I had done some researching of it on makeup alley and youtube and looked at swatches etc. I ordered it from benefit and was so excited when it came! Until I put it on! It is much too "baby" pink for my skin - it made me look like I had a fever or rosacea (which I do have a mild case of the latter - and I spend a lot of time getting rid of the red toned cheeks, don't need to pay to have them!) ... So, even though this blush didn't work for me, the product is very good quality and it's very fine and sheer - just the wrong shade :(

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer - Adjust
MissJenifer 9/3/2012 3:47:00 PM
Best best best primer EVER. I have used several other primers for color correction and honestly nothing compares. This is fantastic for concealing redness -- I have mild - moderate redness in my cheeks and forehead area -- dependent on time of day etc - and I find that a quarter sized amount will cover up all redness in my face - but it does not make you look like Casper. The texture is so silky - it makes your skin feel like silk. The only drawback to this product is the price. I am in Canada and it's about $50.00 for a container - depending on how often you use this product it can last anywhere from a month to 6 months - I always come back to the product though because it really is worth every single penny.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Anti-Redness Primer
MissJenifer 9/3/2012 3:34:00 PM
I swear by Smashbox photo finish in adjust -- but I had run out of it and it is very pricey and I wasn't wanting to spend that much on a product that particular week ... We know where this is headed! I picked up the studio secrets by l'oreal for wayyy less than the smashbox product -- I am usually not a bargain shopper when it comes to beauty products - generally you get what you pay for - but I was feeling weak! I used this product about 6-8 times until I broke down and bought smashbox - A lot of whether you'll love it or hate it depends of course on your skin coloring and the depth of redness you are trying to conceal - I used to have really even olive skin but about 5 - 6 years ago I started developing mild rosacea and I found a bit of anti redness primer works wonders. That being said -- I would rather go without anything on my face and feel self conscious than wear this product again -- First the smell -- I don't know if it's just me but it smells like white glue to me -- that can't be good .. I also found that it was really difficult to apply the product -- I tried several techniques - I tried applying directly to my face with my fingers - That had to be the worst technique for me - I found that even using a dime sized amount could cover your entire face -- but not well - I found it very runny in consistency and it took quite some effort to get it soaked into my skin - I found many times I used it I would end up looking like I was channeling the green giant. I also tried applying it by dabbing it on the back of my hand and using a brush - usually a concealer or foundation brush - tried a stippling brush as well- I found that technique was better in terms of application but not coverage. The best coverage was using my fingers- that being said I still found that it did not cover well -- If you have a little bit of redness this is probably a good product for you - it's about $10.00 a bottle - size is 20ml. However, if you are like me and have more redness to conceal- do yourself a favor and invest in better primer.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Drama
MissJenifer 9/2/2012 11:02:00 PM
As soon as this came out - I had to try it! I had always been a Diorshow blackout fan but I wanted to try something new. I started using this mascara and I have to say - overall I really love it! Pros - it really defines the lashes and definitely gives them drama. I love really black really dramatic eye makeup - so this is definitely for you if you're the same. The brush has a great curve on it that catches your lashes and really gives them volume. The cons - I find that this formula dries out really quickly. I wasn't sure when I bought it the first time if maybe it was just that tube - but I've since bought about 4 tubes in total and I've found the same with all of them. When I say really quickly I mean less than 2 months - If you wear mascara every day it probably will be fine - I try not to wear it everyday because I find that it damages my lashes when I wear mascara too often. So for me - I would like a mascara that lasts 3 -4 months - I also find that applying more than 1-2 coats you definitely end up with spider lashes - and that drives me crazy - but that being said I just apply 1-2 coats and use a clean wand a few times and it's usually fine. Even with those two issues I really really love this mascara - Everytime I wear it I get complimented on my eyelashes.

Mascara -MAC - Haute & Naughty Lash
MissJenifer 9/2/2012 10:49:00 PM
I struggled with what general rating to give this product -- I have said in other mascara reviews that I am a Dior fan - I have branched out to other mascaras and will be doing reviews on all of them - I am a mascara junkie so I tend to buy whatever new mascara I find - that being said a girl at work introduced me to MAC haute and naughty - She said it was the "best" mascara she's ever used. I asked why it was the best and she said because there were two wands that came with it - one that was smaller and caught all the lashes and the bigger brush for overall volumizing/lengthening. I have to say I've only used the mascara three times and that is because I really don't like it. I find the smaller wand to be flimsy to be honest - I find it difficult to really grip the wand and get it at the roots of my lashes - The larger brush is better and does do a good job, but it was nothing special. Overall I would say it's only slightly better than a drugstore mascara although I didn't find that it was really goopy which I hate (spider lashes anyone?!) .. but overall I wouldn't buy it again - the price wasn't bad it was about 20.00 because she gets a discount - Overall - I just wasn't feeling it - I would try another MAC mascara but for now I'm going to stick to Diorshow and lancome hypnose drama.

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow BlackOut Waterproof
MissJenifer 9/1/2012 11:44:00 AM
Love love love this mascara! I really like super black eye products - eyeliner, mascara etc, and this is a fantastic mascara! I love that it doesn't goop up your lashes even if you're wearing several coats. The brush has a nice curve that allows you to get to the root of your lashes-- that can be difficult to find in some mascaras. This mascara doesn't clump up and doesn't dry out as fast as other mascaras. I find some mascaras dry up really quickly, but I've used this mascara for longer than the recommended 3 months before and don't find any issues with it drying and clumping. The only drawback I find with this mascara is the feature I liked the most about it - it's waterproof. This isn't just waterproof though - I find it can be really difficult to remove! I've tried a bunch of different eye makeup removers and I find it can be a really tedious task trying to remove the mascara at the end of the day. I use the clean and clear makeup dissolving wipes and they remove makeup really well and I still find it difficult to remove all of the mascara without pulling out a few lashes. That being said, I have used the diorshow blackout that is not waterproof, I find this one to last longer and no matter what the day brings- this will not budge! It is pricey -- about $30-32 cdn for a tube - but as I've said in other reviews about diorshow mascara, it's well worth the price! Definitely in my top 5.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
MissJenifer 9/1/2012 11:36:00 AM
Diorshow was my first high end makeup purchase. Since then I've discovered Diorshow blackout (waterproof) ... which I have completely fallen in love with. That being said -- I love diorshow - I find that it doesn't clump even if you put on 2 or 3 coats. I have fairly long lashes to begin with but this mascara takes my lashes from okay to WOW. Everytime I wear this mascara I'm asked if I am wearing false lashes. It also wears really well all day even though it's not waterproof - my eyes get really watery sometimes due to allergies etc and even though it isn't waterproof this mascara doesn't tend to run throughout the day. The best part about the mascara is that you can put a few coats on and your lashes don't get really goopy - I find that happens with other mascaras - It is pricey at about 30-32 cdn per tube, but if you use mascara frequently and want a good mascara that will give you really defined lashes this is definitely one to invest in.
