Powder -Clinique - Almost Powder Makeup SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 4/21/2009 11:25:00 PM

I'm surprised by the kind of low reviews of this powder. For myself, I bought this powder after seeing it put on one of my friends in a demo at the clinique counter and I loved it! It was honestly something I would have just walked right by thinking it was just powder. However, it has very good coverage for a powder and is definitely more of a powder/foundation. Personally I haven't had any problems yet as far as fading. Although perhaps those that have experienced this had oilier skin however, for my part it works great. I am also a big fan of the spf factor built in. All in all i think it's awesome. I recommend at least giving it a try--i think it would be good for pale girls...the problem i usually have with powders that I Dont have with this one is they end up too yellow...even in the lightest shade.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Creme d'Nude
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 3/26/2009 7:14:00 PM

I adore this lipstick. In my opinion, for pale girls w/pink or red undertones this is one of the best nudes. I discovered it when I went into MAC one day and the cremesheens had just come out and i was looking for a nude lipstick. Let me preface this by saying I absolutely hate myth--in my humble opinion, it always looks like you took a large concealer stick and put it all over your lips--and it's like white out. In general it looks better on ppl with yellow based skintones but even then it makes teeth look yellow. I just think it makes lips look more bright than nude so i can never be a follower Anyway, back to the task at hand...the MA after I told her I was looking for a nude asked me to try creme de nude. I was hesitant at first thinking uggh i dunno---i don't like concealer lips and she was like i know what u mean so just try this one. and i did. Well it's wonderful! it's nude on my lips--like sexy nude not pale bright concealer white/pink. It's perfect. I think it is one of the best nudes mac has ever made--although I am kind of interested to try fleshpot. It's also got a little bit of a peachy pink undertone so that could be why it's less yellow than myth and works great for a pale girl like myself. I also love the texture, true to its name--cremesheen. *A word to the warning, it might not produce the same results if your skin tone is a little bit darker/yellow--then it might clash.*

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Happy Hippy
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 12/5/2008 9:53:00 PM

I absolutely love this s.gel. I am a big fan of citrusy/fruity scents and when I am in the body shop I will always go for the satsuma or the pink grapefruit so I decided to try Lush's pink grapefruit. It smells amazingly fresh--I think it smells a bit more like lemon than pink grapefruit but either way I love it. I also didn't have any of the lather problems that some of the other reviewers. I could see with all the citrus in this product how it might agravate someone with dry skin and maybe make their skin drier--I don't think it has the same moisturizing capabilities as like the yummy yummy yummy s.gel, however, I don't really have dry skin to begin with so it's not really a problem for me. Either way if you love intense clean or citrus go for this one!

Bath Treatments -LUSH - The Comforter Bubble Bar
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 12/5/2008 9:41:00 PM

I adore this bubble bar, it is a definite must in my collection and I find I always have to have one on hand. It lasts a fair amount of time and is one of the bigger of the bubble bars. I find that this one, like most of the bubble bars that are made in the swirl design, i.e. blue skies, karma tend to make the most bubbles. The second thing next to the amount of bubbles I look for is scent. This one is by far one of my ultimate favourites. I tend to gravitate more towards floral/fruity/sweet smells, so I usually give the patchouli scents a pass. This bar is no exception it is very fruity smelling--like berries and something kinda floral as well, either way its gorgeous! But for any girly girls that have never tried lush out...I recommend this one as your starting off place:)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Helium Pigment
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 11/20/2008 7:15:00 PM

I love this pigment. It's so soft and pretty a very beautiful shimmery pink and as another reviewer mentioned very sparkly. I just love the shade of pink though I could see it as a great body highlighter for the arms and decollete if mixed with a body cream or something--great for holiday parties and strapless dresses. Just a lovely colour.

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 11/5/2008 9:43:00 PM

Let me start off by saying I am very surprised by the mixed reviews this foundation is getting. I have tried many different foundations, clinique, mac etc. and this is by far my favourite. This foundation matches my skin tone perfectly, it has great coverage and blends VERY well. A lot of people find that this foundation works great with like a kabuki or a mac 187. I find it blends great with just the mac 190. I find that it is not heavy at all and doesn't cause breakouts, nor does it look cakey or dry/flakey. I do however recommend setting it with translucent powder I am so in love with this foundation. My only complaint is the price, but it's still not enough to keep me from buying it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shadowy Lady
rated 3 of 5
MissAmbie 11/5/2008 9:28:00 PM

I first bought this shadow to fulfill my deep obsession with purples. When I bought it I figured, after the large collection of shadows I've built up in M.A.C. I'd love any colour. However, this is not the case with Shadowy Lady. Don't get me wrong, the quality of this shadow in terms of blendability, pigmentation etc. is like all mac shadows, great. The only problem I had with this shadow is that I found it too dark. There just wasn't enough of the plum/purple in this shadow and when applied looks almost grey/black. It is a great alternative to black for a smokey eye, rest assured. Also, i'm sure when mixed with other purples, the purple comes out more. In the end though, it's just not what I was looking for and while I like it, I don't LOVE it.

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Lip Lites Angel Food Cake
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/17/2008 5:17:00 PM

I love this gloss. This is definitely my favourite colour/flavour. It's a great peachey pink that's not too pink and not too dark so it would suit a lot of skin tones. It's great consistency and lasts longer than expected for the price. This gloss is sheer but still with some colour to it. I would definitely recommend this one, and as soon as I can find some more of the food cake ima stock up!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Electric Eel
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/17/2008 12:28:00 AM

I love this shadow. "electric" eel is definitely a good way to describe this. This colour is not for the faint of heart for sure. This would be a great one for anyone with blue eyes. This colour is so bright and energetic, no glitter and very smooth texture. It looks great over a darker base like sharksin shadestick.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bare Canvas Paint
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/17/2008 12:23:00 AM

I love this stuff, it's the first primer I ever bought. I've since tried and tested others and this one will definitely remain a favourite. I love the neutral shade and the way it evens out the tone of the eyelid. It's a shade that seems to suit a variety of skin tones. It also keeps eyeshadoes from fading and creasing, it's definitely good stuff.

Fragrances -Stella McCartney - Stella- Eau de Parfum
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/16/2008 7:53:00 PM

Perfumes are definitely one of those personal things that everyone disagrees about b/c of body chemistries and all that. However, I must say, I whole heartedly love this perfume. I discovered it recently as a freebie in one of my Sephora deliveries. I tried it an loved it, it's the only rose scented fragrance I have tried and actually liked. I always find that rose scents are kind of overpowering or too old-fashioned for lack of a better word. However, this perfume to me smells of rose but with a little bit of fruit added but at the same time very sensual and warm. It also has great staying power. My boyfriend also loves it whenever I put it on. I am a big fan and will definitely be adding it to my collection of signature scents.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shadestick - Sharkskin
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/16/2008 7:02:00 PM

I love my sharkskin shadestick. I will be very depressed when it runs out as it is discontinued. This is a great product for quick smokey looks or for layering under pigments etc. It does have a tendency to crease b/c it is so creamy once it is warmed up which I believe is due to the shea butter in it. With that being said, it works better over a primer or even over a primer with a layer of translucent powder and then another layer of shadestick. This is a great colour tho, it's more of a slate grey meets black than just a pure black. It is still just a great product though if you are in a hurry etc. When applying it, I also find it works better to draw in little strokes back and forth as opposed to trying to draw one line all at one go. Either way, a definite must have.

Deodorants -Kiss My Face - Liquid Rock Deodorant
rated 3 of 5
MissAmbie 10/16/2008 6:41:00 PM

So I've been using this deodorant for the last couple of months and it's not really giving me the results I wanted. It does work for a while, but I noticed it doesn't last as long as others. I was ok with the fact that it isn't an antiperspirant but I think it might be better to try a version that has a scent in it, or to use some sort of essential oil with it, just b/c the added fragrance might help give this one a little extra help at fighting odour. That being said, this one definitely depends on body chemistry, it works great for some and not so great for others. I appear to fall in the middle of the spectrum, while it works it doesn't work perfectly I will give this one another chance in the form of a scented version, otherwise, I will need to look for something else that lasts a little longer.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Black
rated 3 of 5
MissAmbie 10/16/2008 6:32:00 PM

This eyeshadow is ok. As far as drugstore brands go, this is probably one of the best out there. So I would definitely recommend this to someone on a budget. However, for myself, this shadow never stays on, it doesn't matter what primer I use underneath it will crease and if it doesn't crease it fades to grey. I have even tried layering it on top of primer than a layer of shadow and then a layer of translucent powder and then another layer of shadow, which is supposed to help shadows stay a bit longer and while that makes a difference, it doesn't work to perfection. With that being said, I definitely don't think it's the best, it's good, but not the best, at least not for girls with oily lids and deep set eyes;). Although, I will agree that the pigmentation of these shadows is amazing and surprising and I will still wear this along the lashline with some falsies for a 60's look. So all in all, not a dismiss but not a rave:)

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #190 Foundation Brush
rated 5 of 5
MissAmbie 10/16/2008 3:00:00 AM

I love my foundation brush, I use it every day and take care of it with regular washings and reshaping so nothing ever happens to it:) I also agree with the advice on using it in a patting motion. This is definitely a must have brush though.
