Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom in Sandy
rated 5 of 5

Holy cow! This is the prettiest most amazing gloss I have ever used. I have about 30 glosses and this one is at the top. I found this while hearing a youtube beauty guru suggest it. I've never really had luck with pinky beige lipglosses as my lips are pretty pigmented so that type of colour tends to make me look like a corpse. This is the one exception! It is so moisturizing and I am not left with dry pieces of skin on my lips. It is a thick goopy gloss and not a thin runny gloss. Because of the thickness of this gloss it makes it a lot more long lasting than my other glosses. A bit of it still stayed on after I ate. The color looks great on its own or even paired over a nude type lipstick (Rimmel's Airy Fairy, Nude Delight). It tingles just enough but after about 30 minutes the tingle fades away. I wouldn't say it gave me super plump lips but what it did do is bring out my natural lip colour, soften and even out my lips which made them look more attractive. Even after the gloss wore off I noticed my lips still were soft that evening. The only downside was that the price was a bit more than I am use d to spending ($23CAD). I will definetly repurchase this colour and will look at other colours in this brand, too!

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Satsuma Shower Gel
rated 4 of 5
Mischievous1 5/1/2013 11:14:00 AM

This is like happiness in a bottle! I look forward to showering with this every evening. It is such a de-stresser, too! The formula is pretty runny but it moisturizes quite well and doesn't feel like it's stripping the skin . I tend to use this more in the warmer months as I find it's a bit drying during the winter. It lathers very well and the scent is definetly there when you use it but doesn't linger on the skin after. I like to use the satsuma body butter to help prolong the scent. If you want more of the scent, then the satsuma body mist is the way to go!

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Natural Acne Solutions - Pore Refining Scrub
rated 4 of 5
Mischievous1 2/19/2013 3:37:00 PM

Great scrub for someone with mild acne. My skin reacts well to all natural ingredients and it loves when I use this. It isn't so much of an exfoliator but if you have acne, sometimes exfoliating with harsh beads can aggrevate your acne. This exfoliated just enough for me as my skin is sensitive. It did leave a waxy type of film on my skin but I used a toner after and it took away most of the wavy feeling. As for cleansing I"m not sure how well it removes makeup. I use a makeup remover lotion before I cleanse/exfoliate. The smell is a bit odd. Kind of medicical with a hint of lemon/orange/grass. The scent was offputting at first. This left my skin soft, glowing and pores look more refined. I will definetly be purchasing this again as I found it on sale at Walmart for $3. It seems to do a better job than Body Shop tea tree blackhead clearing scrub.

Treatments -Tarte - Pure Maracuja Oil
rated 5 of 5
Mischievous1 2/19/2013 3:11:00 PM

Beyond impressed with this product. I received a small sample of it from Sephora. The girl praised this product and couldn't say anything bad about it. My skin is pretty clear to begin with so I thought "Ok what's this going to do anyway" I was a bit skeptical considering my skin is oily/combo with some dry patches during this time of year. I get some redness around my mouth and nose. Since I've been using this product, the dry patches/redness is GONE! I mean within 2 days I saw the difference. Putting oil on oily skin is bad right? Wrong! I pressed this in to my skin and within a minute the oil had absorbed. I didn't look like an oil slick. I haven't even used any moisturizer on my face since I got this sample. It's like a serum/moisturizer in one. Sephora recommended to use it at night. I've used it day and night. It makes my fine lines less visible, pores smaller and my dreaded blackheads on my nose are smaller. My skin is sensitive and this isn't irritate it at all. In fact, it felt soothing. After I put it on, it looks and feels like I went to get the best facial. I've been using it for 5 days and I'm rushing back to get the full size very soon. This a winner and a staple now in my skincare routine!

BB Cream -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers BB Cream
rated 4 of 5
Mischievous1 1/25/2013 4:52:00 PM

This has recently become a fave of mine along with the Maybelline BB cream. When you buy a BB cream don't kid yourself and think it will measure up in coverage to that of a concealer/foundation. This BB cream matches my skintone very well during the winter. I wear the Light shade. I have found it's best if I pat it on my skin and not rub it in like a primer or moisturizer. By rubbing it in it completely, it disappeared and I thought, "Why bother?". No more rubbing now and more patting needed. For application, I use a primer first, usually one that mattifies as this doesn't banish shine or mattify. After I am done with the BB cream I use a bit of concealer on areas of my face that can get a bit red --around the nose and cheeks. Then I set it with a bit of my Bare Minerals mineral veil. I get a fresh, even, healthy complexion. This feels like you have nothing but moisturizer on your skin. It is so lightweight and I appreciate that because I hate feeling and looking like I have a mask of makeup. Best of all it has no smell and didn't irritate my skin in any way. The only difference between this BB cream and the Maybelline one is that this one is not as runny and it doesn't have the variety of shade selections. I think I get a bit more coverage with Maybelline but nothing extremely noticeable. This BB cream would appeal best to someone who wants a natural fresh look with light coverage. I would definetly repurchase this again! Cons- Doesn't reduce shine/pore size Not a vast shade selection Doesn't moisturize Not long wearing Pro- Very light weight Non-irritating Minimal coverage No scent Affordable

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Magic Lumi - Light Infusing Primer
rated 3 of 5
Mischievous1 1/11/2013 8:54:00 AM

This stuff is pretty good. I received a sample of it from a cosmetician and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. I am usually not a fan of L'Oreal products but this one I am! It reminds me of a dupe for Lancome's Eclat Miracle. This one is a bit more runny and not as shimmery as Lancome's. It just gives your face a very healthy glow without making it look like you dipped it in shimmer. You can mix it in with your moisturizer, your foundation or pat it on with a sponge. It claims it's a primer but I wouldn't go so far as to say that's what it is. It's more of a soft illuminator. I would recommend it for someone who wants a bit of a glow to their face, to look more well rested with hydrated skin. Be careful putting this on if your skin is remotely oil. If you put too much on it may show more of the oiliness on your face. My face is oily so I prefer to dab it on and not rub it in so much. Because I already have so many illuminating primers, I wouldn't say this one blows my socks off. For that reason I don't see myself buying this until my other primers/illuminators are gone.

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - Cinnamint Lip Balm Stick
rated 5 of 5
Mischievous1 1/4/2013 12:42:00 PM

I'm not a big lip balm fan but I have to say this is easily my desert island lip product. I used this during the summer months and it really protected my lips and kept them soft. Now that it's winter it's still doing the job! It's a no nonsense lip balm. It has no colour to it and is really perfect to wear underneath a lipstick. It has a sweet peppermint candy taste to it and tingles a bit on the lips. I love the consistency of this balm. It's a bit waxy with no shine but keeps my lips soooooo soft for hours after I put it on. Because of the no shine, no colour to this balm, a guy could easily use it. The only thing missing in this balm is some SPF. Will be repurchasing for sure!

Polishes -Essie - Da Bush
rated 2 of 5
Mischievous1 12/31/2012 3:56:00 PM

Not a nail polish I wear very often. Even in the summer I don't wear it that much. The color in the bottle caught my eye but with my pale skin it just isn't flattering. It makes my nails look like I have a lack of oxygen. Colour application is quite streaky and spotty, and you have to apply 2-3 coats to get anything that looks half decent. Within 2 days my nails have chipped. Won't buy this colour again.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Rebelle EDP by Rihanna
rated 4 of 5
Mischievous1 12/26/2012 3:38:00 PM

This is unlike any celeb perfume I have smelled. I received a small 15ml bottle for Christmas after getting a small sample of it this summer and falling in love with it. I'm noticing this is a scent that is pretty hard to describe. It's a bit floral, a bit tropical yet has a spicy edge to it as well. Once in a while I get whiffs of something like chocolate or maybe coconut mixed in with something a bit floral/exotic. It's a warm smell and it dries down to a soft comforting scent. It's not an in your face floral but it's not totally sweet like Pink Sugar or Britney Spears' Fantasy. To me, it smells like something a designer like Armani would dare to make. It's that nice! As this scent develops after a bit it is a soft sexy smell that is inviting in a tropical spicy haze. The lasting power is not the best. After 2 hours of wearing this, I could use another spritz or two. I am taking a lippie off for the lasting power. What I love most about this scent is that it is very versatile--for any age, any season, any reason. I can see myself wearing this in the winter with a sweater or wearing it in the summer with shorts and sandals. it's also a perfume that doesn't smell like a dupe of another designer fragrance. I like originality and this one has it! I find the bottle is very pretty...I like the shape of it, but in the full size of the perfume the bottle feels clumy and is very heavy/awkward to hold. I will definetly buy more of this once I am finished the small bottle. It's certainly one of the best celeb fragrances out there!

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
rated 3 of 5
Mischievous1 12/10/2012 4:08:00 PM

This is an ok colour. Not as pigmented as the grape, cherry and pink punch one. I've worn the Pink Punch on its own and noticed a lot of colour on my lips, but this one makes my lips so blahhh in colour. My lips are sort of pigmented anyway so when I put this on it is just a natural very light peach sheen without a lot of colour. It has the tiniest bit of shimmer to it. I would consider this like a light tinted chapstick. It's not as moisturizing as a chapstick as I find I have to keep swipping this colour on. Not a lot of softening benefits either. SPF is the huge plus. I wore many of the baby lips colours in the summer and never once burned my lips. Perfect if you just want to soften your lips, need a very natural look. Think hanging out at home on the weekend, or a quick pick me up for your lips while at the beach. It would also work great over a slightly matte lipstick to give it a natural sheen without looking too glossy/wet. Product is great, but colour is definetly not worth it for me to repurchase this again.

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
rated 5 of 5
Mischievous1 12/5/2012 1:37:00 PM

Like other reviewers have noted, this is like a drugstore tinted moisturizer done very well. It's a product I use a lot on days when I just want a fuss free natural look. This product would not work well for someone with some acne or uneven skin tone that they wanted to cover up. You could use this but you would definetly need to use concealer after. This product is NOT a concealer or a foundation. It isn't going to mask skin imperfections. On days when I want a bit more coverage I use a primer, some concealer and a bit of luminizing powder. When it comes to application, using my fingers seems to work the best. I almost pat it on my skin rather than rubbing it in. One of the things I love most about this product is how quickly you can apply this product. If you get the right match, you could probably apply this product without a mirror. it just doesn't streak and won't settle into dry patches, fine lines or pores. I've tried using a foundation brush or sponge and it just made my skin look too bare..as if I didn't put the BB cream on my face. When I've used this product I've had a lot of compliments on my skin. It just makes the skin glow and it doesn't make my skin oilier--it's oily to begin with. My skin feels light and refreshed when I put this on. Like I don't have any makeup at all and for me that's a bonus. I hate feeling heavy makeup on my skin! Another bonus to this is the SPF 20! I used this almost every day this summer and didn' t have to worry about getting a sunburn. Bonus is that you can't smell the sunscreen at all! I just bought the light shade to suit my winter skin and already have the medium shade. I hope Maybelline doesn't stop making this product as it's honestly one of the best products that they have made.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum Express The Falsies Flared
rated 4 of 5
Mischievous1 12/4/2012 1:43:00 PM

Fantastic drugstore mascara. Definetly my fave one by Maybelline (I have a few others). This is the one I find myself reaching for quite often. It doesn't give me racoon eyes, it's easy to apply. Because the brush is bends in all the right places. You can basically shape your lashes up and out with this brush. It doesn't exactly make them flare or fan out but it didn't give me stick straight lashes either. i wasn't expecting flared out feathery lashes like the models have in the Maybelline ads. It gives me volume but is only mediocre for length. My lashes are long to begin with but this did help increase the curl and volume in my straight lashes when I curled them. This mascara is easily buildable, too. I can apply more than 2 coats and it looks dramatic enough without looking like a drag queen. It's a drier mascara (which I like) and holds the curl very well, even after having it on for more than 8 hours it's still holding the curl. No flakes, minimal fall out. It does have a slight smell (like roses?) but it didn't aggrevate my sensitive eyes.I really wish companies would do away with having a scent to their mascaras!? whats the point!?? I had purchashed the Falsies satin black mascara before and decided to buy this one instead after the satin black one dried out quickly. I have to say I like this version a lot better. I find myself reaching for this mascara when I need to add a bit of volume/ drama to regular mascaras. It didn't give me false looking lashes but it sure beats a lot of the more expensive brands I have tried that claim to give the false look -- Benefit's They're Real. If you just want a mascara that is easy to apply and gives you volume, hold and curl without spending tons of money, give this one a try. You may become addicted to the Volum Express mascaras like I have!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
rated 2 of 5
Mischievous1 12/4/2012 1:24:00 PM

The packaging is an attention grabber like most of the Volum Express ones but the formula and brush= not so great. I used this a handful of times and then threw it out recently. It's a wet formula and it just didn't give me any volume or curl. I hated the brush. It felt too flimpsy and bent so easily that putting it on meant I got some mascara on my upper eyelid. I wish it had been a stiffer brush that gripped the lash rather than unevenly drag product through the lashes. It gave me horrible raccoon eyes not long after I applied it. At the end of the day I would look in the mirror to see black smeared under my eye. Even when I applied a Clinique Lash Building primer the mascara still didn't perform the way I had hoped.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Aruba Coconut
rated 5 of 5
Mischievous1 12/4/2012 10:04:00 AM

Ouuu if there was "summer in a bottle" this would be it. I really love anything coconut scented all year long so i picked up 2 of these lotions when they had a sale. It's a very fruity coconut scent. Not as warm and creamy as some others I've smelled (Body Shop Coconut Body Butter for example). It apparently has musk in it but I don't smell that at all. I smell more of a tropical fruit like mango with a bit of grape mixed in with coconut. This is wonderful layered with the body spray. As for moisturizing, it moisturizes quite well. I prefer it more in the summer as I find it's not something meant for really dry skin. It may work more for someone with a normal-dry skin type. It's not greasy at all and it will linger on your skin for hours. It absorbs really well on the skin also. It reminds me of sun soaked days, laying on the beach, sipping girly drinks and having fun. Perfect as a mid winter pick me up, too!

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - The Porefessional
rated 2 of 5
Mischievous1 12/3/2012 4:21:00 PM

Total waste of money. It's a pretty expensive primer and I was disappointed that Benefit would sell something that didn't work all that great, especially considering they usually make pretty high quality products. All the cute, gimmick type ads that the company put into advertising for this product doesn't make up for the fact that it gets only 2 thumbs up . . It didn't mattify my skin for more than 10 minutes and certainly didn't make my pores look smaller. It actually made my skin feel slippery and slightly greasy. It has this weird scent to it as well...not sure that a primer really needs a scent. I found out it has silicone in it which may explain how aggrevated my blackheads got on my nose which led to some pimples. I wish I had received a sample of this first. Now I'm stuck with a full size that I have barely used. I will stick with my Tarte 12H perfecting primer!
