Mascara -Hard Candy - Lash tinsel - voodoo
Mindy919 11/10/2011 8:12:00 PM
I got this in gold ina sample pack & just can't believe how awful it is. You have to put on a ton of product to get it to show, then it takes forever to dry so when you blink it ends up all under your eye... THEN when it dries it just looks yellow and clumpy and not glittery at all. I honestly looked like I was walking around with some horrible yellow puss eye infection! I never throw out make-up or skincare products because I can usually use it for something else or give it to a friend to try, but I hurled this into the trashcan with great force. I can't say enough bad things about this mascara.

Loose Powders -Cover Girl - Professional Loose Powder
Mindy919 10/15/2011 12:40:00 PM
I have so many powders accumulated that I'm unhappy with and I just keep buying more and I get so frustrated I sometimes skip powder all together! BUT I really do love this. When I was a teenager I (and every other teen I knew) used all CG products. I used the oil control foundation & pressed powder. When I tried this loose powder I loved the look & feel but I broke out from it as I did all the CG that had this Noxzema scent, so of course I was hesitant to try this again, but it's been a LONG time since I was a teenager and this no longer breaks me out at all. I like this even better than the MAC loose powder. It doesn't leave me oily or dry and you can't see it on your face at all unless you pile it on. For me the perfect loose powder has been the hardest thing to find because I absolutely hate looking like I'm wearing face make-up and every other powder I've tried gives me away at least a tad. This just regulated my oil and sets my make-up, but you can't see it on my face at all. Exactly what I wanted. But yes, the packaging is kind of a messy pain in the ass.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
Mindy919 4/20/2011 3:38:00 PM
In one of my other reviews I swore I'd never put chemical sunscreens on my face again..... I lied. I just had to try this because of the rave reviews by women with similar skin types as mine and the fact that when using physical sunscreens with SPF higher than 15 it makes my face look greasy. Summer is creeping in and I needed something sweatproof with an spf of at least 30, but I wasn't really expecting this to work for me. It does. I can wear it over my anti-aging serum and my face is so soft and matte that I can skip my primer all together. It's not a miracle product, I still get oily after a while and need to blot through the day, but this is definitely the best sunscreen for my face that I have found so far and I will repurchase. It doesn't break out or irritate my skin or eye area at all

Treatments (Eye) -Garnier - Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller
Mindy919 4/18/2011 4:32:00 PM
I'm pretty happy with this. I know it's not a miracle product, it just makes the puffiness go down faster in the morning and perhaps go down a tad more than it would otherwise. By the end of the first day I used it, I noticed my eye area felt a bit dry and raw so I didn't use it the next day, then the day after that I used it over a moisturizing eye cream and had no problems. Now I can use it all by itself. I don't know if that's because my eye area got used to it, or because it got warm outside and my skin is more oily and less sensitive in the summer. I definitely don't want to be without this again and I have bought some more Garnier products because of this out of curiosity which I definitely love

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Natural Protection Mineral Block Lotion SPF 30
Mindy919 3/18/2011 3:42:00 PM
I love that Aveeno came out with a waterproof physical sunscreen because I've been looking for one to wear in the summer. This is the best sunscreen I've found for my body, and I love that with physical sunscreens you don't have to wait for it to sink in before you go into the sun, so I will re-purchase, but unfortunately a no go on my face. It was a bit too greasy and made my make-up slide off and gave me a slight white cast. This is the first bottle of physical sunblock I've tried that has an spf of over 15 and I've heard they usually all leave the white cast, so, oh well. On the plus side it protected me skin all day in the sun and I got no color at all and it didn't break me out or irritate my face or body. It also balled up when I put on my foundation so the next time I used it I used a primer and it didn't ball up

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
Mindy919 3/16/2011 7:38:00 PM
I am in love with this. Coconut oil is the very best moisturizer I have ever found for skin and hair and it cheers me up to slather it on in winter because it smells like a tropical paradise. I can't use it on my face because it does break me out, but on the rest of my skin it's perfect, and this is the 1st winter in 5 years that I haven't gotten psoriasis and I thank coconut oil. I also googled "coconut oil benefits" and found a long list of health benefits as far as eating/cooking with it so I have started doing that. I put a teaspoon in my oatmeal or melt a tsp. On my cornflakes every morning. The benefits are similar in many ways to fish oil but without the awful taste. I just got mine at Wal-Mart in the section with the vitamins.

Treatments -RoC - Complete Lift serum
Mindy919 2/3/2011 4:35:00 PM
OK so this is what I've been looking for. As soon as I apply this my pores look smaller. YAY!!! I've only been using this for a little over a week but I already see a big difference as far as tightening goes. This may be because I don't have sagging really, but puffiness. This takes care of my puffiness, even under the eyes, even when I've been drinking!!! It's a clear gel consistency that seems to evaporate into the skin quickly, so quickly that I blend it in a hurry. I find it a tad drying until I apply my moisturizer then it's fine. I'm just so very glad I found this, sitting there on the shelf all subtle and modest, looking overshadowed by the Olays and the L'oreals.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
Mindy919 1/26/2011 3:28:00 PM
Aaarrghh!! This is why I generally stick to drugstore skincare products. This did nothing for me, then I read and noticed the main ingredient is mineral oil, just like my $5 tub of Ponds (which works better than this) and Ponds doesn't contain all the dyes this product does. I also purchased an expensive eye cream while at the Clinique counter which only succeeded in making my eye area a puffy mess. Expensive is not always better. Maybe it's just Clinique that doesn't work for me, I don't know

Lip Gloss -Hard Candy - Plumping Serum Volumizing Lip Gloss
Mindy919 1/9/2011 9:42:00 PM
This is the only lip gloss that I've bought more than twice. I usually just use lipliner and a chap stick or balm because I hate the feeling of lipstick. I find this gloss actually keeps my lips from getting chapped in the cold better than anything else I've tried. It is kind of thick and gloppy I think, but I like that. I get American Girl, which is a shimmery nude on me, and Material girl, which is burgundy and not shimmery at all. Even the burgundy can almost pass as natural (to a man). It hardly plumps, but it's not expensive and the tube is the cutest thing ever.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Bar
Mindy919 12/23/2010 5:37:00 PM
Years ago I had a roomate with very dry skin that was terrible and her derm recomended this soap because he said that any cleanser that is supposed to "leave something" on your skin, whether it's moisture, or medication, or anything is bad for you because, ultimately, it's a cleanser and it's also gonna leave behind cleansing ingredients which, in the long run, will make your skin dryer, more blemish-prone, and even age your skin. He said the only thing to look for in a soap is that is cleans and most importantly, rinses clean, and just leave moisurizing to the moisturizers. After she told me this we both ran out and bought this cheap little gem, and within a couple of weeks we both had better skin, and I haven't looked back since. I used to spend so much on fancy cleansers that were supposed to do this or that and I suppose I got sucked into the hype, but when it comes to cleansers, never again. Here's a tip: I use a plastic soapdish that has a plastic net in it to keep the soap elevated so it stays clean and dry. I got it at Wal Mart for less than $2

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens - Alpha Hydroxy Lotion 8%
Mindy919 12/18/2010 11:50:00 AM
Before this I was using Neutrogena Healthy Skin at night, which also contains glycolic acid. Obviously it doesn't contain nearly as much as this because I definitely noticed a difference immediately with this stuff. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now and it has improved my skin. I did have minimal purging for just a week or so and I wake up every morning to an oil slick, but when I wash that off my skin is glowing. I must add that I have yet to find ANY cream that I can wear all night without waking up to an oil slick so that's probably just my own bad luck. I might try the name brand version just to see if it does make a difference with the oil-slick, but I doubt it will. I will update if it does. Also, I don't see any difference between when I wear it 1-2 times a week vs. 7 days a week. I also use it on my hands once or twice a week before bed and it keeps them super-soft always, even in this cold weather.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - morning glow spf 15
Mindy919 12/15/2010 2:42:00 PM
I used this moisturizer for about 3 years and it did a fine job. I switched, as my skin is aging (ugh) and this is geared more for young skin, but I have skin that's VERY oily in most places and very dry in some and all over my face, and in every weather, this worked the best for me. I'm okay with the little light-reflecting grains because my foundation dulls it and makes it look like an actual natural glow, but without foundation it is a bit too obvious in the sun. I can't see myself ever leaving this entirely. I will always use it when I go out at night because the glow is perfect and I know I won't be too shiny, but from now on when I re-purchase, it will probably be the one without SPF. I do highly recomend anyone with young and normal/oily skin give this a try. In fact, the only thing I DON'T like about my new moisturizer is that it doesn't contain these gold sparkles that reflect light and make my pores appear smaller. Perhaps I will try to add some...

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete All Day Moisturizer with sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF15 (classic gentle formula)
Mindy919 12/15/2010 2:13:00 PM
This review is for the lotion, I have not tried the cream, but I have noticed many reviews for the lotion in this category. W-O-W! So I've been searching for a day moisurizer because my pevious HG's are mostly geared toward teenagers and I've noticed they haven't been cutting it since I'm being reluctantly yanked deeper and deeper into my 30's. I've been reading a ton of reviews on here and was so intrigued by the differences in the new vs. old reviews of this. I tried Olay Total Effects Sensitive and that was a disaster (see review) So when I returned the TE to the store I purchased 1 Classic Formula and 1 "new" of this product. I get sensitive versions when available because if I wanted perfume on my face I would spray on my own, I mean, come on, who needs that? My skin was never a big fan of sunscreens, but since I use AHA's at night, and switched to an even higher percentage recently, not having a sunsceen is not an option. So, I tried the new version first because I wanted it to be the one that worked for me as I like the idea of having a "skin shield" My face was already a wreck and after 1 day no improvements, so I tried the classic (zink oxide) next. Slight improvement. After 3 weeks of using this my skin had NEVER LOOKED BETTER!! I had also started using regenerist serum under my moisturizer and wasn't sure what was contributing to my new good skin. Then real winter hit and I noticed that this didn't take care of my dry spots all that well. I decided to give the "skin shield" formula another try since it seemed more moisturizing and I felt since I had only tried it for 1 day while my face was already a wreck, I didn't give it a fair chance. It took 5 days of using the "skin shield" formula for my skin to go back to being a wreck. I had to blot every 15 minutes as beads of oil were continuously being pushed out my pores, and somehow I managed to be flaky at the same time and my face took on a gray and sallow look, with puffiness and red itcky bumps and blackheads. I am now nursing my poor skin back to health with the classic formula which is now my HG. I know now that it was this and not the regenerist serum that made my skin so much better. But what about the winter dry spots? Well I just dab a bit of Ponds Dry Skin Cream (tried and true) on those spots only, before I apply and everything's perfect. As far as the sunscreen not being all that great? Well, I'm fair skinned and this definitely works for most days, but if you're gonna be out in the sun all day in summer, you really need an actual sunscreen (sweatproof, waterproof) on those days anyway, not moisturizer with sunscreen. I will NEVER let those chemical sunscreens near my face again. I wish I had listened to the majority in the first place. Live and learn.

Bronzers -Hard Candy - So Baked Bronzer, Tiki
Mindy919 12/6/2010 8:50:00 PM
Well this is a shimmer powder and highlighter NOT A BRONZER. My skin is pretty fair and this just didn't do what it advertised at all. It looked darker in the pan so I feel a bit ripped off. I liked the cute container, and I finally found a use for it, I dab my pinkie in it and sweep it right under my brow as a highlighter. I suppose it will last me forever this way so I should end up getting my money's worth. I've been looking for a cheaper dupe for my Merle Norman bronzer and have been chasing my tail on this one
