Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey

I just got this and have worn it just about every day since I got it! I love the colour with my skin tone (NW15). It looks very soft and natural. I don't find it builds for me the way it does for others; I kind of max out the pigment with a couple of coats and blotting would take a lot of it off anyhow. The only drawback is the frequent need to reapply, which as a wearer of mainly opaque matte red lipstick, is a bit foreign to me. It's not enough to stop me from preferring it to every other pink lipstick I own and I think to get the look you do from this, a sheer tinted lipstick is the only way to achieve it.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Advantage 3 in 1 Foaming Acne Wash
rated 1 of 5

This product obviously works for some, but I'm in agreement with the one stars here. I bought this awhile back out of desperation because my skin just freaked out after I stopped taking the pill. I had obviously used up a good portion of the bottle, and then switched to something else and kept this around for washing my synthetic makeup brushes. I couldn't remember exactly why I'd stopped using it; probably mostly the dryness and persistent spots. Well, having tried it again, I can tell you that it may well work for you *IF YOU CAN EVER WASH IT ALL OFF!* No matter what I did over the past few weeks, I kept breaking out with deep cystic acne (which isn't typical for me) around my lower jaw and neck (also weird for me). I've tried to spend three times the amount of time it should take rinsing this stuff off and I've given up. My face is finally starting to return to normal with the last cleanser I could remember being really clear with: Neutrogena Redness Soothing cleanser.

Polishes -OPI - Smitten With Mittens

I love this colour so so so much! To me, it looks like Got the Blues for Red with a ton of gold glitter in it. In the bottle, you see the gold quite a bit, but on the nails, I find the sparkle just looks red but very very pretty. Coverage is good for a red, I can do this one in two coats and they're nice and even.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
rated 1 of 5

Oh man, this stuff is *the worst*! Maybe it works better on thicker hair, but if you have fine hair like mine, I can only hope to warn you against wasting your money. I've had this kicking around a bin of products that I occasionally use that I haven't tossed because I don't like to waste. I've used it a few times and I should really just know better by now. I tried it again today and it's going in the trash for good. If you're hoping to degrease your hair for a night out, spray it on, wait like the instructions say, and hey, pop some corn while you're waiting because you ain't goin' no place. Better start picking out some movies or delay your plans while you take a full shower and blow out your hair the long way. If you want your hair (bonus if it's brightly coloured or dark!) to have a grayish cast and powdery film, you might as well just dump a box of cornstarch on your roots. It may even work better than this stuff!

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Top Notch Tulip
rated 5 of 5

I love this! I ran out of a lancome longwearing colour that I think paired with a clear juicy tube. Can't find it on their site, but anyway... In the tube, this looked like a good substitute. I can't account for the colour name at all, there's nothing tulip-y about this shade on me. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I want to say it's a light bronzy/coppery on me. Goes on a bit sheer and it dries to feel a bit tacky as other reviewers have said. I don't find that bothersome for me though, it's not bad enough to be irritating and this stuff stays put until I take it off at the end of the day (usually just buy applying Vaseline over top and smooshing it around for a minute before wiping off). I'm contemplating some of the other colours in this line, but because it's so sheer, I'll bet they'd be even better with a liner underneath.

Lips -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain - 440 Wild Berry Wink
rated 3 of 5

I really liked this at first. I bought it after seeing a lady in a pretty lippy and asked what it was. I bought a different shade and wore it over a Ben Nye red liner or a slighter darker liner for a more dramatic look. The colour is pretty, a bright red on me, but I found it didn't last long like the claims. It came off with moisture and if I licked my lips or had a cup of tea, it came right off. Definitely not kiss proof, aheh. The applicator also dried out really quickly. I don't know if shaking it profusely or wetting the felt tip would help. I don't much care to find out, I've since moved on to other longwearing products.

This is the most beautiful frangrance *ever*. I love that it smells great on me the second I put it on and the dry down is even better! Very pretty and feminine, perfect for girls that love something a little more complex than just roses.

Polishes -OPI - Got the blues for red
rated 5 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 11/7/2009 3:27:00 AM

This is hands down my favourite nail colour and I bring it along every time I get my nails done at the salon in case they don't have it! I love that unlike another favourite red (Vodka and Caviar), two coats will do nicely with this slightly darker colour. I think other reviewers are right when they say it compliments a cooler skintone, as I have blue undertones and it works well with my skin. The only issue I've ever had with this is that the colour looks simply dreadful under flourescent lights that are more and more common everywhere. Doesn't everything look terrible under those lights though? Flourescents make this look a drab burgundy, but in natural light it's a gorgeous deep red that doesn't look awful with a cool red lip. Definitely a staple!

Treatments -Garnier - Synergie Pure - SOS Anti-Blemish Pen
rated 1 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 11/7/2009 3:21:00 AM

I really wanted to like this product as I've had a pretty good experience with others in the Pure line. I used this a total of three times, each with unfavourable results. At the moment, my blemishes are mostly hormonal and I used it on spots that were both mature and below the skin. It did virtually nothing good for the mature spots, infact I think it made them worse. When used on immature/beneath the skin spots, it made them head and become incredibly painful! Instead of just one blemish appearing, it would be like a compound zit of two or three! Ew... Atleast at the sale price of $6, I'm not out too much, but this one is for the bin.

Brows -Smashbox - Brow tech

I *really* didn't want to like this product because of the price tag. I brought it to the counter to pay and thought it was $23 because of a misplaced price tag and it was actually $30. I was ready to have them take it back right away, but the cosmetician at the drugstore suggested I take it home to try and if I didn't like it, to then return it. Of course, I now can't live without it! I have this in Auburn and it's a great match for my coppery red hair. It does give you a more defined look I find, but that's what I prefer. I noticed the instructions suggest applying the colour first and then the wax, which in theory sounds great. In practice, I found the wax would just smear the carefully applied colour. I swipe a very minimal amount of the wax on my brows first and then apply the colour. The result is awesome! *Edit* They have since changed this product to be two different colours in the same pallet, and neither colour is the same shade as that previous version. I really dislike when companies do this; what if I only need to use one of the colours now? Should I still pay the same to use a quarter of the product (since I mostly stopped using the wax too)? Just go to Make Up Forever or MAC and find a matte shade that matches your colour. MAC's Brown Script is a nice matte reddish brown.

Polishes -OPI - Vodka & Caviar
rated 4 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 11/14/2007 12:07:00 AM

This has become my favourite OPI colour and I always make sure to bring it with me when I go to have my acrylics filled. I had Big Apple Red and have to say that it just doesn't compare *at all* to this colour, which is a little more subtle and much more classic. Suits my pin-up look perfectly and I always get compliments on it! It does need three coats to look true to colour on me, otherwise when I'm outdoors it actually looks fuschia, but with acrylics I never have to touch up between fills. I will have to stock up on this one! *edit* I've gone back to my first love, Got the Blues for Red. I just hate doing the three coats, but if you never wear darker red lips, this is still nice.

Powder -Cover FX - Cover Fx - Powder Fx
rated 3 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 5/3/2007 10:25:00 AM

I really loved this when I first tried it and received compliments on my pale skin (I have rosacea and this covered pretty well considering, also minimizing my larger pores). It was better than MAC's StudioFix for me with a similar application and coverage. I had to stop using StudioFix because it made be breakout pretty badly and I was having to touch up often. Even though this product is marketed as non-comedogenic, it's not true at all. I had high hopes for this and I live in the same city as the product's creator who applied this to one side of my face and NaturalFX to the other in a trial session. I decided to buy both, and both clog my pores. I will occasionally wear this if I'm just stepping out of the house for a short while and then come home and wash my face. If I sport if for the whole day, I'm assured of having spots! If you're oily or acne-prone, I'd have to discourage you from picking this product up. There are better alternatives. I'm now using Fyrinnae's mineral foundation in Moonstone and really like it. I'm about to try their Super Power formulation as soon as my package arrives! I also didn't fully love the packaging; it looked way to simple and cheap for something so pricey, and the compact's "button" broke off every time I bought them (about three times). The sponge I loved, but the embossed top part would come away well before the foundation ran out.

Fragrances -Shiseido - relaxing fragrance [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 4/7/2007 3:48:00 PM

This is my absolute favourite fragrance and has become my signature scent. Years and years ago as a pre-teenage girl, my mother would give me some of her gift-with-purchase samples since she's been a loyal Shiseido client for much of her life. I got the teeniest jar of the relaxing moisturizer and fell head over heels in love with the scent. Years later, I found the teeny jar again and opening it took me right back to the first time I'd ever smelled it. I decided I *needed* this cream and when I found out it came in a perfume as well, it was all over. The first time I tested it at the store, I was sort of disappointed and held off buying it right away. It seemed fairly strong for me, and initially not the scent I'd hoped for. Within the next hour of shopping though, it adapted so well to my chemistry that I ran back to the counter to buy it. On me, it's an intoxicating white floral with noticeable green notes. Lasts long and when I smell it on my jacket, scarf, or clothes the next day, I'm in heaven. I will always purchase this scent!

Moisturizers -Lancome - High Resolution Intense Recovery Anti-Wrinkle Cream
rated 5 of 5
Mina_LaFleur 3/22/2007 4:01:00 PM

I got this as a gift with purchase. Wouldn't you know it, I'm addicted to this, probably the most expensive thing that came in the gift! I'm only 23, so I can't vouch for how it works on wrinkles, but I love how incredibly soft this makes my skin. Coincidentally, this is the best "primer" I've used before my mineral foundation. It's not greasy, keeps my oil at bay and makes my make-up wear way longer than usual. I love the packaging, adore the light scent and the texture is divine. I will definitely be buying this when my sample runs out!
