This mascara is really thick, and I think the brush makes it harder to apply. I need a Tweezerman lash comb if I use this. It is pretty waterproof, I only get a few flakes after splashing my face with water and rubbing my eyes. It does give big lashes, but it is really sticky and clumpy and a lash comb is definitely needed. Maybe a better applicator would help. I would buy it again, but only because I don't know of a waterproof mascara that flakes less.
Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - Mistura 6-in-1 Beauty Solution
MichelleB03 8/24/2012 11:04:00 PM
Meh. This is advertised as a 6-in-1 product, and I just can't figure out what those 6 things are. Blush, bronzer, foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, lip colour? I see it as a blush. If applied all over the face, you will appear shiny. It looks orange as an eyeshadow and lip colour, which isn't flattering on me. It doesn't cover flaws. It doesn't change colour and adjust to your skin. It is a universally flattering blush, and I think that's great, but it is definitely not a miracle product. And it is too expensive.
Mascara -Maybelline - Illegal Length Fiber Extensions
MichelleB03 8/24/2012 10:57:00 PM
I didn't like this. The fibres were very obviously fake-looking, and not natural looking at all. They wouldn't stick straight up, they would go in every which direction at the end of my lashes, and that just looks bad. I also found in dry, flaky, and grey-looking. And I did not like the fibres falling into my eyes.
This is an awesome product! My hair was long, thick, and heavy. the spin pins were a life saver in school when I needed to get my hair back and out of the way. I recently cut my hair and it's too short to use these now, but I would definitely consider buying the shorter ones to work with my new hair.
Deodorants -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Tea Tree Deodorant Stick
MichelleB03 6/21/2011 9:48:00 AM
After using this product for a few weeks, with mediocre results, I woke up one morning with red, rough, itchy, tender patches under my arms only. It looked like a sunburn with distinct tanlines, exactly where I applied this deodorant. It was terribly uncomfortable. Since this deodorant doesn't fight odor very well (mediocre, as previously stated), I apply morning and night, in the hopes that the tea tree will kill bacteria (and minimize odor). It always left me with a stench by the end of the afternoon, so I would wipe off, and reapply. The irritation I experienced was probably from overuse. This is not an antiperspirant, does not leave underarms dry, nor does it claim to. I would only recommend this product to someone who doesn't sweat much to begin with (unlike me).
I got this as a 100pt perk from Sephora. The packaging is just a plastic tray-type thing, not awesome, but its not actually a full-size product, so I didn't expect much. The colour is pretty. It works well as a pseudo-bronzer on my pale skin, since bronzer is a little much for me. The formula blends well, and the brush picks up lots of product. It is a coral colour (obviously) with gold shimmer. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 lippies is that there is a little too much gold shimmer in it for me. That gives it a little more of a sheen than I want.
Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - NatureLuxe Lip Balm in Anemone
MichelleB03 6/7/2011 6:41:00 PM
In the package, this is a red-orange poppy colour. On my lips its a pretty blush colour. Just a hint darker than my lips, not orange at all. It's not glossy, but it does have a bit of sheen. The colour is sheer and buildable. I love this! Perfect for summer when I want something light, pretty, and gives me a pulled-together look.
This is a surprisingly good value for the money. Not more than 10$, and it feels and works great. Weighted handle is good. It distributes colour well. The bristles stay inside the brush. I'm excited to try the other brushes!
I love this conditioner! It is lightly moisturizing without weighing hair down. It is volumizing without drying hair out. It leaves my hair soft and bouncy and healthy-looking. It smells amazing to boot. I bought this based purely on the smell. I was in a Walmart in the USA and since we didn't have this shampoo in Canada, I picked it up. Next time I'm in the states I will stock up!
Shampoo -Suave - Suave Professionals Aloe Vera & Ginseng Volumizing Shampoo
MichelleB03 5/24/2011 1:10:00 PM
LOVE THIS! This clear shampoo is light enough to rinse clean, but is not drying. That is a tough balance to find in a volumizing shampoo. I found this to be gentle and not tangle-inducing. The smell is so yummy and fresh. When paired with the conditioner, my hair was left soft, clean, and had natural volume. My hair didn't feel dry, and wasn't weighed down. I have a ton of hair, and each hair is very fine and straight. That makes for very thick and heavy limp hair. I will repurchase this when I can. I live in Canada, and it's not available here. Next time I go to the states, I will stock up! I love the price too, it wasn't more than 4$ USD.
Concealers -Cover Girl - fresh complexion concealer
MichelleB03 5/24/2011 1:03:00 PM
This, overall, is one of the better concealers I have tried. Now that's mostly because it's light enough to match my skin. The formula is very thin, slightly too watery, and doesn't offer a ton of coverage. I find that if I smear some concealer on the threaded part of the tube, close it, and come back to it the next day, it's thicker, and easier to apply and provides better coverage. It doesn't get cakey on my skin, and the tube has lasted me quite a while (probably too long to still be hygienic). I like the fact that it's not oily and heavy. It is very buildable, and stays put all day when you set it with powder. The only reason it doesn't get 5 lippies is because I have to tinker with the formula to get the results I want.
Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
MichelleB03 5/24/2011 12:56:00 PM
This is terrible. The first two or three applications were alright. I had a hard time aligning all the little fibres so they actually looked like lashes, but the end result was long, thick, fake-looking lashes. After a few more applications, this mascara got so dry, flaked all over the place, even during application. I closed the tube tightly each time, so it really surprised me that it dried out. Such a disappointment. I threw it out, and I almost never throw a product out until I really give it a fair try, but this was just impossible to use.
Gels/Soaps -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Satin Shower Body Wash - Tea Tree
MichelleB03 5/20/2011 2:34:00 PM
I love that this is natural, and has tea tree and aloe in it. I bought it because of the raving reviews about Jason's tea tree face wash, but I couldn't find it in Canada, and picked this up instead. For the first year I used this, I used it only as a facial wash. I love it as a facial cleaner! It leaves my skin soft and clean, without feeling dry or stripped. Avoid the eye area though - it stings badly! The smell is light and very fresh. Smells like tea tree of course, but its not harsh, just soft and fresh. Now I've been using it as a body wash on my neck, back, and chest, mainly because its great at washing away the sweat and oil that gets produced after working out or on a hot, humid day. It's great for bacne! I bought the big pump bottle, and I've been using it for a year, and its not even half done. For $12, that's a steal! Mind you, I did use it as facial cleanser, just 2 pea-sized drops a day.
Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Earth Lovers Lemon & Thyme Shower Gel
MichelleB03 5/18/2011 1:13:00 PM
I got a sample of this with another purchase from TBS. I liked the smell from the tester in store, and I was excited to try it. I was doubtful that the tiny drop they gave me would wash my entire body, but it did! A little does go a long way. I used it with a Body Shop pouf, and it covered me from head to toe. The smell was not as I expected it would be from smelling the tester. I was very woodsy, and natural smelling. Very masculine. It wasn't synthetic smelling like Axe or Old Spice body washes. It rinsed easily, didn't leave residue, and wasn't drying. I would buy this again, but not for myself. The scent, though lovely, is just a little too masculine for me, so I'd buy it and make the man in my life use it!
