Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic: Clean Definition
Metalbabe1984 5/29/2007 6:44:00 AM
Ugh. Will I ever learn! First off... I loved the packaging, cute pink comb and glossy silver tube, who wouldn't want to buy that? I liked the idea of the clean definition it promised to give along with the length. I was after a mascara that lengthened and i thought why not?? Well, i'll tell you why not... it is yet another of L'Oreals clumping, smuding and flaking messes! It does nothing for me. Ok it doesn't clump that badly but the smudging is just the worst ever IMO! Maybelline and L'Oreal really do SUCK for mascara! They can't do anything that doesn't smudge on me, and the length?? Where???? I have gone back to my HG, Bourjois Volume Glamour which DOESN'T flake, clump (at all), smudge (at all) and lengthens far more than this crap ever could! I can't believe i was yet again pulled in by their fanny assed marketing. My fault I guess but i will not ever buy another mascara from L'Oreal again!

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - BORBA Skin Balance Fiber-Knit Orbital Eye Rejuvinator

I received a prize pack of samples after winning a competition and this was one of the samples that i received. I tried this on last night and woke up this morning to a very very bright eye area. No dark shadows and no puffiness. This cream is thick in consistency and goes on very well. It absorbs quickly and caused me no irritation. I am definitely going to try and find out where the hell this stuff is sold in the UK or get it from somewhere! I love it and judging by how much I put on a full size jar will last me forever!

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Touch of Cosmetics: Touch of Lash
Metalbabe1984 5/21/2007 4:08:00 AM
I've seen so many complaints about white primer since joining this site.... if it's not about how clumpy they are it's about how you can't cover the white with black mascara... if it's not that it's how it makes mascara look grey and dull. I was curious therefore when i saw a product called Touch of Lash on HQhair.com. It cost me about £10. I bought it because I was suffering from somewhat sparse lashes and wanted the length and volume that so many mascaras promise to provide and fail to deliver, and if they do you get clumps and flakes along with it. I already have a HG mascara - bourjois yes to volume no to clumps, I just wish i had extra length with it. This primer promises to protect your lashes and enhance them with length and volume, it does all this in a clear base. The tube is a sleek silver, the brush is nice to use and the product is easy to apply, it's like a souped up clear mascara and you can also use it on your brows. It conditions as well as enhances so it claims. I am almost sure this stuff contains fibres, i can see them on the brush. I don't know about volume but this does make my lashes longer, and i think it does protect them from masara drying the hairs out. I would buy this again most definitely, I am so surprised there are no reviews already on here because it's a lovely product, it's expensive for what it is but it lasts a while and doesn't dry up. Go and buy this if you are interested in a clear base rather than a white one.

Highlighters -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat No 1
Metalbabe1984 5/14/2007 4:24:00 AM
My sister gave this to me because she didn't think it was doing anything for her. Well of course i wasn't gonna argue. These are very expensive at £18 a pop and I prefer it to my clinique airbrush concealer which can get a bit cakey, I think i'll try elizabeth arden after i've finished this stuff and keep the airbrush as a backup or in my bag. It's very good and is NOT a concealer which some of the smarter people have worked out already. This goes on after my concealer as a finishing touch, it is meant to deflect from the appearance of dark shadows and dark lines.... It works quite well and I am really happy to use this as a staple. It doesn't work miracles, it won't airbrush you like models in magazines but it works well enough for what it is. One lippy off for price because £18 is the same price as a decent foudation and this is really an optional extra that "perfects".... not something that can do a fat lot on its own. It's a good product, worth trying but not compulsary.

Bronzers -Clinique - True Bronze Shimmering Tones Bronzing Powder
Metalbabe1984 5/11/2007 9:59:00 AM
I bought this and was really unsure of whether i'd made the right choice or not, it's hardly like I NEED it. But i've been eyeing up this sort of product for ages and thought sod it i'll have it. So I bought bare bronze today. Was really relieved to say other ppp dark haired gals say it's great! The clinique lady at the counter has always matched me with good stuff, i was stuck to think of which one of these to buy so she helped me. I wanted to use them as eyeshadows as well and they are gorgeous and shimmery which is loooovee! I'm glad that I bought this now - my guilt has gone! And the clinique sa has already matched me to my HG lipstick so this was another hit for her.

Mascara -Boots - Natural Collection LashCare Mascara - Clear
Metalbabe1984 4/30/2007 6:12:00 AM
I have got this in black. I have trichotillomania and pull out my lashes but at the moment thanks to therapy they are growing in again.... whilst I am in "recovery" I wanted to buy a mascara to just define the lashes that are coming back. It was pointless spending a bomb on expensive mascara that wouldn't show up but I can't apply liner between the lashes anymore because they are growing in much thicker now so if I apply liner on top it looks a bit weird.... anyway.... I saw this in Boots and thought that £1.99 for a mascara would be fab. It was worth every penny because it doesn't smudge, clump, flake or feel crispy on my lashes, it keeps them soft and moisturised which is just what i need whilst they are growing in. Great mascara!

Lip Treatments -Sally Hansen - 24 Hour Lip Treatment
Metalbabe1984 4/30/2007 3:54:00 AM
I like this but it's advertised as something better than it really is. I know that i will use it because i hate anything sticky or too waxy but this cost £6 and that's a total rip off. It doesn't last that long and is definitely not 24 hours, it's not even 3 hours! I have no idea how they can make that claim because it needs reapplying fairly frequently. I hate the packaging like everyone else, too bling and in your face - it's a lip balm for Gods sake. I will not buy again but i'll use this up.

Eye Primer -Boots - No7 Stay Perfect Smoothing and Brightening Eye Base
Metalbabe1984 4/30/2007 3:41:00 AM
I don't have a clue what the below reviewer is on about - this doesn't come in a green jar at all, it comes in a black e/s compact with one of the pathetic little applicators that they put in for the sake of it. The first reviewer is right, it is oily but it's definitely not that bad. I use it underneath my eyeshadow and it works really well. It was also part of a 3 for 2 for me so that's why i got it. I wanted something that would wake my eyes up in the morning and this is perfect for that. It reminds me of benefits eyebright but cheaper and less white... it works for me and makes me look awake even when i have red eyelids in the morning. It doesn't seem to crease - it's by no means udpp but i didn't buy it for that just for its brightening qualities and a day to day primer (udpp is far too drying and i only use it for really dramatic make up). For what i want it for it's great. And also - don't put too much on, just a very thin layer is required. UPDATE: Yeah so i wore this longer and er..... sorry to the other ladies, i see precisely the problem now! Ugh. It's lovely when you first put it on but it MAKES MY MAKE UP RUN!

Eye Shadow -Boots - No7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow in Wheatsheaf
Metalbabe1984 4/30/2007 3:36:00 AM
I usually hate No.7 with a passion but I really like this. For some reason the pallettes do NOTHING for me as far as pigmentation goes. This one however is a single and i have no problems. It was all on 3 for 2 so I took advantage and bought an eyeshadow that i could wear on a daily basis. Wheatsheaf is a creamy clour that looks good on anyone, it's light and shimmery and is very slightly beige.... I really like this colour it brightens up my eyes and is great to shove on in the morning with black liner.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Chrome Effect Eyeshadow
Metalbabe1984 4/30/2007 3:33:00 AM
I love these eyeshadows, they come from the range that does the platinum/holographic effect ones as well which aren't as good in my view. I love these because they are soooo glittery but not in a bad way. They almost look wet on your eyes because they shine so much, they don't have big nasty bits of glitter they have lots of shimmer and fine silver particles and they go on almost sheer. I took a lippy off because I hate the fact that they crease up so easily but I am guessing if you used something like UDPP underneath you wouldn't get that problem. I have some in my stash so i'll try it and report back. I love the ksaki colour because it really brings out my hazel eyes but I also fell in love with the shade cream lame - although I haven't bought it.

Skincare - Body -Nivea - Hand Age Defying Creme with Coenzyme Q10

This is my favourite hand cream because it's the only one that repairs the pesky hang nails that keep bothering me. they just won't go away. My hands are very dry and this stuff releives that. I am very impressed.

Lip Gloss -Bourjois - Eau de gloss
Metalbabe1984 4/24/2007 9:26:00 AM
I went into Boots on my lunch hour and all the new make up for the month was coming out onto the shelves. This stuff caught my eye by the ever creative Bourjois. I have been waiting for ever for them to bring out a non sticky gloss and finally here it is. I can't remember the exact shade name for mine but it is the cerise colour, I was torn between this one and a vivid purple pink but that had too much blue in. The packaging is gorgeous! The gloss is applied with a brush and it has a long plastic handle, it almost looks like one of those antique glass dropper bottles... it really is so cute. This gloss claims to moisturise your lips for 4 hours, my lips felt comfortable after application and still do now, the colours go on sheer and vivid - the cerise is more like a stain on my lips and looks gorgeous, perfect for the summer. This stuff is a real "cheer up" gloss, it cost me about £7.50 - a bit expensive considering I normally HATE gloss. I think this is a brilliant product considering the fact I can't usually keep gloss on my lips for more than 10 seconds without wanting to rub it all off. It will probably need applying about 100x per day but i can live with that, what i can't live with is stuff that goes tacky and looks awful after you've eaten, i'd rather it all came off. Go out and try this for summer!

Brows -Clinique - Brow Pencil with Brush
Metalbabe1984 4/24/2007 3:05:00 AM
This is a lovely brow pencil, Ok so the name isn't so original but that's what it says on the box.... I got mine in a brown colour (can't remember which one), the match is pretty good but it may be a little bit too orange... not much though. I am of course comparing this to my new fave - the superfine liner. I thought the staying power of this pencil would be better than the superfine, it is good but not that good and I have to say the pencil is VERY hard and makes my sensitive skin sore when i put it on. I find it a pain in the butt to sharpen ever other second and as a result find it difficult to get the definition where I want it on my brows and end up with a smudgy finish which I hate. Overall this review may seem negative but only if you have seriously non existant brows like mine, if you have a decent brow and just want a cheap way of filling them in then this is your pencil, and it's hard like brow pencils should be. This is a basic pencil with a good brush at the end, i'm not throwing it but i ma keeping it as back up for when i don't have my superfine liner. Overall a good product but there are better ones for me personally - the other clinique brow pencil.

Brows -Clinique - Superfine Liner for Brows
Metalbabe1984 4/24/2007 3:00:00 AM
I think i've found my HG brow pencil in this little thing. The best thing is that it never needs sharpening - I find that such a pain and am just fed up of doing it. The other brilliant points about this pencil (excuse the pun) are that it is so fine you can draw on little hairs and shade the areas you want to shade - i always used to end up with the colour on my brow bone because my brows are so sparse and not easy to fill in.... also, soft brown is the PERFECT match for me. It looks natural and defined, I don't have to press hard like with other brow pencils and although it probably won't last as long it's worth buying again and again for the ease of use and great colour I get. Clinique have done it again!!
