Tools -Unlisted Brand - No!No! Professional Hair Removal System
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 1:26:00 AM
Just bought this today, but I've gone into Sephora several times to try it out with various salespeople....for the dual purpose of making sure I didn't impulse buy....and to get a variety of opinions from different people. I've used it on my arms so far. Although the packaging says not to, I have heard (From sales people and various other online reviews from other sites) that it can be used on delicate areas such as the bikini. However, I have just ventured into trying this....so....we'll see. I imagine that using a product such as this would require some finesse before delicate areas should be explored...so....proceed with caution. I did a cost comparison/pain comparison; by and large, this product saves money over time in that you don't have to go to the salon over and over again for waxing (which ads up quickly) and it doesn't hurt (waxing OMG hurts). One note: hair smells bad when it is being burnt....so...breathe through your mouth..... and read instructions carefully. ps- i think that they put the advisory on there regarding delicate skin areas so that they don't get sued. IMHO.

Lipstick -Sephora - Cream Lipstick
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 1:15:00 AM
I am not a lipstick person at all...I normally wear chapstick...not because I don't like it, but because I can't hold onto lipstick (or sunglasses) long enough to merit spending anything more than a few bucks on it.....lipstick and lipglosses that I own usually end up in the place where socks, quarters and other random things go...the blackholes that are my purses and car. I happened upon this product, which was selling for $6. I bought it in no38, which is a deep plum bronze color. This is a great deal, as many drugstore makeup products often sell for this price or even more! I'm very happy with it, the color works well with many different other makeup shades, I can wear it to work without worrying about looking too flashy, and I hope I can hang onto it long enough to reap the rewards of finding such a good deal....

Liquid -Cargo - Liquid Foundation
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 1:09:00 AM
I hope I have the right product here.... This is the product, sold at their website and sephora, where the foundation is housed in a "hygienic" pouch kind of thing. I've had this product used on me a variety of times, and I've had nothing but awesome results with it. The next time I am in the market for a foundation/base, I am probably going to get this one. It worked wonderfully with my crazy skin.....blends well....love it.

Polishes -OPI - Nail Polishes
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 1:07:00 AM
LOVE OPI. I rarely get my nails done or do them myself...but when I do, I almost always use or insist on OPI. Their products last forever. I love their funky named shades. The bottle provides a generous amount of polish, most of which I don't get through before I get bored of it and give it to my mom (lol). Most recently, I bought what I think is called the "garden pretties" or something collection. It is four little mini bottles, with light pinkish shades.

Shampoo -Back to Basics - Apple Ginseng Volumizing Shampoo

Got this awhile ago at a Trade Secret holiday sale. It came with a conditioner, which I only use on occasion, because my super oily hair works quite well without it. I like the scent, but otherwise, the product is unremarkable.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Midnight Pomegranate Body Lotion
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 1:03:00 AM
I got my nails done awhile ago, and the nailsalon was giving out little Christmas gifts to customers as a holiday promo. I happened to receive this product, in a sample size of body lotion. As a general rule I am not a smelly-product fan, and I usually scoff when trends such as the current pomgranate craze, are incorporated into things like health and beauty products. However, this smells wonderful, and it doesn't leave a film on my hands/body. I bring it with me in my purse and I've almost ran out of the gift I got over a month ago...which is saying something for me...because I almost always lose little lotion things like this.

Toners -Caudalie - Beauty Elixir
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:59:00 AM
So far I like this product a lot. As I have noted in previous product reviews, I am not an early morning person, yet I am in a field that involves waking up early AND being fresh faced and professional. Thus, when I was at sephora a few weeks ago, I remembered how awesome my face felt when the salesperson sprayed this on my face before make-up fun time began (she was giving me a mini makeover). I had been awake since 4 that morning, and hadn't slept well the night before--this stuff really helped me wake up. My skin had that tingle I used to associate with Noxema when I used it as a pre-teen...yet, it didn't have the burn in my eyes! I bought the fifteen dollar version at Sephora. It's just the right size for traveling with my work-day survival kit. As a note, people with allergies should check the ingredients list to make sure nothing in it causes allergic reactions....although any person should do this with any new cosmetic product, I add this suggestion because Caudalie is a pretty progressive brand and they use a lot of awesome, but different, ingredients that some people might not be used to.

Shampoo -Rene Furterer - Naturia Dry Shampoo
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:55:00 AM
I was at sephora (because yes, I addicted to the store) when I was telling on of the salespeople I like to shower at night because it helps me relax...but my fine, color treated hair gets really gross and oily if I don't wash it every morning. Sadly for me, I hate waking up early and doing this. The salesperson introduced me to this product and I'm now hooked. I shower at night, and don't use condtioner--my body produces more than enough. When I wake up in the morning, I spray a bit of this product on the roots of my hair to soak up any of the oil that has appeared overnight. My hair then ends up with that "just washed" look and feel. Morever, whenever I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror as I'm at work, I don't cringe with disgust at how oily my hair looks. Yay :) As a note, this product is a bit expensive compared to what I usually spend on hair products....but, it's worth it. Also, a little goes a looong way. Less is more.

Palettes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Powder Pop!
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:50:00 AM
LOVE IT. I originally went to my friendly neighborhood sephora to buy "Dandelion." They were sold out, and although I was initially disappointed, the awesome saleslady introduced me to this limited edition trio + blush brush. This product comes with Dallas, Dandelion and Hoola. The lady showed me how to put it on, and when I remember which color is Hoola vs Dallas, I will come back and edit it. Dandelion, of course, is the cute pink color. :) Love it, I'm addicted to it...I get nothing but compliments where I wear this....I work in healthcare, and I have to be careful not to wear makeup in a way that comes off as "too much," and this product gives me a healthy, natural glow...even if I am dead exhausted.

Treatments (Eye) -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - Under-Eye Brightening Cream with skin regenerating MMPi technology
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:44:00 AM
bought this at Bath and Body works awhile ago. so far i love it. my dark circles, which i have regardless of how well rested or tired i am, respond well. additionally, this product goes nicely on the fun dark circles that have appeared at the inner most corner of my eye (especially bad when my sinus problems are acting up). i apply this product with a foundation brush. i usually let it dry, then i apply my foundation with a brush. as a note, it works well with smashbox's photofinish. the only complaint i have about this product is that the container can be a real pain to open. maybe i am just being dumb, but sometimes i have a hard time getting the turn & open mechanism to open...if you demo this product in person, you'll know what i'm talking about. otherwise, i would recommend it. if i ever found out that this product was going to be discontinued, i would buy a ton of it. ps- sorry for no caps and poor grammar. i'm tired and lazy right now.

Liquid -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Foundation
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:39:00 AM
I bought this to replace a previous product I was using. I now use this product (at least until I find something else I like more). I put a bit a foundation brush, and blend blend blend. It works really well with my skin, which seems to have a mind of my own.....for example: i have rosacaea (sp?), combination oily/dry skin, with splotchy and broken capillaries on my nose, and dark circles under and on the inside of my eyes. I usually get a ton of compliments when I wear this. As of now, my foundation brush is missing in action, but this product still works well enough without it. At this point in time, I buy it again.

Primer/ Corrector -Smashbox - Photo Finish Primer
MelissaAnnDurham 2/2/2008 12:31:00 AM
Got this in the sample size/travel size section at Ulta the other day. I've used it a few times and I've had good results. It helps my liquid base (physician's formula) stay on well. I like that it leaves my skin with a soft feel. I rub my face constantly when I'm frustrated or bored, and I don't even realize I am doing it--and this product has helped my base stay on longer. As a note, I'd recommend buying the $10 sample size that comes in a plastic tube, rather than the full price, full size product. Why? My friend used to buy the full sized product, and there was always some of the photofinish stuck in the bottom of the glass container. The plastic tube is atleast something that can be cut so that the very last bit can be used (hey, i'm on a budget! a girl has got to be money wise....)

Foundations -Almay - Almay Pure Blends Mineral Makeup
MelissaAnnDurham 10/17/2007 2:03:00 PM
I used Bare Minerals for a long time, but I quit using it because it is so messy....and I was really sick of it flying all over my house/car....and I was sick of the beige film it left everywhere. I switched to this product because I liked the smart design. So far it provides good coverage, but as previous users rated, it is more expensive than Bare Minerals ounce for ounce. Complaints about this product: the brush is a bit rough, and if you press the button too hard (or twice in a row) then the powder comes SHOOTING out in a stream. Actually kind of amusing, but....still messy. I'm giving it a try for now, and if it works I'll stick to it. LATER edit: I stopped using this product after a few weeks. It made such a mess. If they fix the issue with the pumping mechanism so that the powder doesn't play a trick on you and fly out, and if they change the quality of the brush, I would consider trying it again.

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Chi Ceramic Flat Iron by Farouk
MelissaAnnDurham 10/17/2007 4:27:00 AM
I would buy this product again and again and again. Getting my lifeless, thin hair to be shiny and full of body, as well as straight in my humid environment is addicting. I actually have started to carry it with me in my purse for the days that I don't have time to Chi my hair in the morning. I always laughed at the girls who would obsess over their expensive flat irons, but this REALLY works. I wanted to buy the pink breast cancer edition one, but the place I bought it from in San Marcos, Texas didn't have it...so I got another one instead. I'd seriously recommend this product to anyone....and now that I have had such awesome results, I find myself seeing complete strangers with crazy frizzy hair and I contemplate stopping them in their tracks to Chi their hair, too (which I wouldn't actually do, because touching other people's hair is gross, but you get my point). Before getting this product I had several of the "cheapie" versions- none of them even worked half as well as this does, and they would all pull and snag my hair....take forever to heat up....or worse, burn my skin. I don't have any of these problems with the Chi! Go BUY IT!!!

Shampoo -Nioxin - Bionutrient Protectives Cleanser (formerly 1C cleanser)
MelissaAnnDurham 10/17/2007 4:22:00 AM
I love this product. My parents and I both have very thin hair, and they have been using this stuff for years. I finally tried it and I was impressed. I used it for awhile, ran out, and money was too tight to justify purchasing it...so back to the cheap crap I went...but the second I can afford this stuff again, it will be back in my bathroom. Give it a try. It really helped make my fine hair manageable in the nearly constant humidity I live in!!
