Polishes -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Smashed
Maurie97 12/29/2012 3:12:00 PM
I have to agree that Estee Lauder's Smashed is beautiful, besides the price. But I do believe at times you get what you pay for, though not always. The color is edgy and sophisticated at the same time. Perfect for someone in their teens or twenties right up to 50's. No...not 50 yet, but soon. Color is purple with cranberry tones and the glitter is there but not in your face as I am not a glitter girl. Bottle is sturdy and enough room for me to use as a stand for my finger. Would buy another EL polish in a heart beat. Cannot report on staying power just yet as I just did a manicure. Will report back on that aspect.

Polishes -Essie - Mademoiselle
Maurie97 6/6/2012 6:47:00 PM
Love Essie nail polish but this one I could do without. I know its a classic and i guess if you are looking for something basically clear it's good. You get a just polished nice look but that's IT. If I am going through all the work of a manicure I just want something a teeny bit darker. Does not look like what you see in bottle. Yes, its a clean look but like another post said, you could probably get the same look with buffing your own nails. Just OK for me but I returned mine and will stick with Ballet Slippers or OPI's Bubble Bath for a tad more color. I do love Essie though, just not this one.

Polishes -OPI - My Pointe Exactly
Maurie97 6/6/2012 6:45:00 PM
Just applied OPI's My Pointe Exactly over the almost invisible Essie Mademoiselle and I couldn't be happier. I am a fan of almost all gray shades of polish and this one is so different and awesome as gray's go. Its sheer which makes it different but its still gray and just looks so crisp, cool and feminine . It was the mini bottle which is my only complaint. These little babies are a bit hard to work with. I think I may just need to purchase the full size of this one.

Polishes -Essie - Bahama Mama
Maurie97 3/17/2012 11:31:00 AM
The color of this polish is gorgeous. However, it was a hot streaky mess to apply. I have many Essies in my collection and have loved each and every one of them, dark and light varieties. My dark polishes apply in two coats and my lights probably 3. This color is almost like a jelly/cream mix and it was very difficult to apply. First coat was horrible, second seemed like it was going to fix but it was dragging the first coat away and leaving light areas near the cuticle. The color was shiney and again beautiful but way too much work, in my opinion. I will be returning this one and picking out something different.

Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI- Dear Diary...
Maurie97 2/22/2012 8:21:00 PM
Just bought this polish today and used it. Rimmel base/top coat and then 4 (yes4) coats of Dear Diary. Its a tricky polish but I find most of these type pinks/sheers are. This one is sheer only in the beginning and builds to opaque. Its a pretty pink with the slightest bit of peach in there. Not bubble gum pink. It looks ok on my fair skin as well, but I was hoping for something more on the sheer side. I may keep this one but will not buy it again. Sephora by OPI should not be priced quite this high. The quality is not "that" great to be charging so much. I don't hate this polish and it looks nice, but 4 coats......ugh! It will probably be dry in 2 days.

Polishes -Essie - Ballet Slippers
Maurie97 11/11/2011 5:05:00 PM
Not sure why I waited so long to buy this color. I love white/pink sheers and I thought this was just going to be another blah sheer pink. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. Its pink, but so light and not bubble gum (which has its time and place). Not white at all or so opaque you feel your in the 60's. Perfect groomed manicure you get with this one. Yes, the first and second coat can give you issues as with ANY sheer polish but after the 3rd coat, your good to go. Good to go.......Essie's quick dry top coat is amazing too, btw. Brush is small but when fanned out on rim of bottle, its just what you need. Such a pretty girl color. Its fall, but I was in the mood for something understated and this fit the bit. Its more than just a MNBB shade but less than a "Pink". Would buy again for sure.

Polishes -Butter London - British Racing Green
Maurie97 10/19/2011 6:27:00 PM
Best Green I own. Awesome in 2 coats. The most forgiving polish ever. No fail application on this one. Its such a deep dark beautiful green, without being "army" or "mint". I love butter London and now cannot wait to receive Big Smoke in the mail. I'm thinking this will be the blue version of perfection. If you are a fan of Butter London, this one is a must have for your collection. I can't stop looking at my nails!

Treatments -Qtica - Cuticle treatment cream
Maurie97 8/11/2011 3:12:00 PM
Just tried this product based solely on reviews and I couldn't be happier. I have used oils and other creams but none have worked as instantly as this. I can see not needing to reapply this a few times a day, but maybe only once. Fragrance is there, but its not all that bad. Pricey but worth it in the long run. I have a slight obsession with my cuticles since buying and wearing expensive nail polishes. If I am paying high end for polish I want my nails and cuticles to be perfect and smooth. This is doing the trick. I would recommend this product to anyone, even with the high price. Going to be tricky once the product gets used a bit and I am trying to get it out because the pot is rather deep. Still not enough to sway me negative though. If you want nice smooth cuticles I would try this product.

Top/Base Coats -Orly - In A Snap
Maurie97 5/30/2011 4:01:00 PM
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this top coat. I thought Seche Vite was my favorite until I started having problems with it pulling my NEW manicure/polish back from the tips, like shrinking. So I ventured for a new "holy grail" top coat and came upon Orly In A Snap. I love this top coat. Works exactly the same as Seche Vite, except it does not smell quite as bad and I don't feel like I'm killing myself and it does NOT pull my polish back either. Also have not noticed cracking of my manicure after a few days. Only thing I wish that the bottle was a bit wider instead of long, as it can be tricky when the product starts to get lower in the bottle. As with any top coat, you may need a polish thinner after a bit of use, to keep it like new. Would buy this over and over again. Remember you will be able to breath in the same room too.

Polishes -Essie - Topless & Barefoot
Maurie97 4/19/2011 8:54:00 AM
I have to say that this color is gorgeous, for me at least. I am fair skinned, light eyes, dark hair with some freckling going on with the skin. This color is a perfect pale peachy/pink nude color and does not make me look like I have those freaky dead hands. Its pretty..............however, it has to be the worse quality polish I have ever gotten from Essie. Not sure why, but its streaky and very hard to apply. Did cover in 2 heavy coats but it had to be heavy to cover the streaks. I am tossed as to if I would give this another chance because I do love the color. May try putting some polish thinner in to see if it helps the consistency. Only paid about $6 for the bottle so its not a total sick waste.

Polishes -Chanel - Intermezzo
Maurie97 1/31/2011 5:38:00 PM
Totally enjoying my new Chanel Intermezzo nail polish. It is such a flattering girly color and I cannot imagine it not looking good on anyone. Its white/off white with a beautiful pink iridescence shining through. I have short nails right now and it looks amazing and makes my short nails look classy and finished. Must try polish. In regards to application, I didn't have any problems with bubbling. Streaking a tad bit, as with any of the shearer colors. Nothing I couldn't work out and I am VERY fussy with polish. One thin coat could work on this and 3 coats is perfect for an opaque pale look. Chanel never surprises me. Their polish is amazing. My only other is Black Satin, but would love to add more. Price tag is high, yes. Ebay is a good option, just be careful as to who you are buying from. Try at least one Chanel polish in your life.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Maximum Growth Nourishing Nail Polish
Maurie97 1/23/2011 4:45:00 PM
Love this product (Color-Sweet Tulips) and it is quickly becoming my HG nail polish. Love the soft whisper pink color and that it looks amazing on any length nail. Have used it on my normal sporty length and my "yikes I cut em too short" length and both look spectacular. Actually looking to buy a back up bottle of this one so I don't run out. Must try. Yes, it does take awhile to dry, but I used Orly In a Snap top coat and it dried in a moderate time frame. Only thing I wish it had a shorter length to the brush. Not the actual bristles but the connector length. I prefer working with something a bit closer. I would recommend this color to anyone who prefers light/nude colors.

Polishes -Zoya - Ibiza
Maurie97 1/23/2011 3:24:00 PM
Sorry to have to come here and post this negative review but found it necessary. I purchased the trial size of Zoya Color Lock System and 2 bottles of nail polish to go along with it. The first one I have tried is Ibiza and I have to say its the worse polish I have ever put on my fingers. Though the color is beautiful and application acceptable I will not be purchasing this color again. It applied very flat with ZERO shine (some shine after top coat) and even with the color lock system (yes I used all steps), started to chip the SAME day. Now the worse part of this is, after being frustrated at the chipping I decided to take the polish off. WELL, that was a nightmare. I still have not gotten all the blue off my skin. It was like I had dunked my fingers in some blue pen ink or squid ink. I was so mad. I had to cut all my nails down to make them somewhat presentable. I have worn black polish before and blue polish before and have never had such a problem. I am not sure if its all Zoya polish or just this color. Maybe that's what they mean by "color lock", saturated thru the skin.......IDK. Its in the garbage and ready to go out for the garbage men tonight. Now my nails are super short and sporting a very light pink almost white color. Ugh..............bad experience.

Polishes -Orly - Nail Lacquer in Kiss the Bride
Maurie97 11/20/2010 2:38:00 PM
Wearing Orly's Kiss the Bride now and I couldn't be happier. Used in conjunction with Orly's Ridge Filler Base coat and Orly's In a Snap top coat, I had a very fast, clean manicure. I am loving this color on my nails and am very pleased with the base and top coats as well. Wanted a nice wearable pink as I just took off a very dark blue and this is just beautiful and very much an "everyday color". Its not a bubble gum pink, just a soft hint of pink. Perfect for a cleaned/groomed pretty nail.
