Shampoo -Modern Organic Products (MOP) - Pear shampoo
Mattewis 2/12/2012 3:50:00 PM
I really like this shampoo. First, it smells great just like sweets. For some reason it reminds me of my granny. I have psoriasis on my scalp and therefore very picky about what goes near my scalp, especially shampoos. This doesn't bother my sensitive scalp at all and my hair is very soft and healthy. The only problem I have is that it doesn't lather well because the product is quite thick. Also the packaging makes it difficult to get the product out- you have to squeeze really hard, but I think you can get a pump for this so will try that when I decide to buy again. The reason why I have said I will not buy again is because I like to try other smampoos, from the MOP range and Giovanni Organics before making a choice.

Cleansers -Nude Skincare - Cleansing Facial Wash

First a bit of background, by the way this is one of my first reviews on this website even though I have been on here for a while! Anyway, I have oily skin, and I have been taking care of it literally since childhood, and yet despite that I still get acne at the ripe old age of 29! I also prefer organic products and have been searching high and low for an effective organic or sort-of natural FOAMING cleanser for years (can't use a cleansing milk with my kind of skin). Most organic cleansers don't foam enough, and I often feel not properly cleansed- and it shows! In addition, packaging is important to me, it must deliver the product in a hygienic manner, so bars of soap won't cut it, while I am not prepared to pay a fortune for the product either. So far, I think this product may just become my holy grail. I have only been using it for about two weeks. It smells wonderful and is very relaxing to use. I even like the colour, a slight pink. It does foam but not as good as non-organic products, however if I add enough warm water and rub my hands vigorously the foam is good enough. The packaging is great with a pump that delivers enough in one go. My skin is not dried out, and so far I have not broken out more than I usually do. I follow up with a salicylic acid-based toner and I never see any residue, so I guess this does cleanse. I also think the product will last a few months with twice daily use, as I havent' even made a dent after two weeks. I paid £14 for this, and if it lasts as long as I think, this is also economic. Once the bottle is finished, I will come back and give my final verdict. But so far I really like. UPDATE: Boohoo! It seems the product was scrapped and replaced with the purifying cleansing, the price has shot up to £20 and I really don't like the new packaging, I preferred the pump. No, Nude, wrong move.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
Mattewis 3/5/2011 6:42:00 PM
I used to use the entire range of Dermalogica- not every product I mean but those prescribed, I think it was the cleansing gel, spray-on toner, matte oil-free moisturiser, total eye care, and something for night (what was it again....). I wasn't impressed and used all the products until finished but never rebought. I recently tried them again by way of samples, which came with the Cleansing Brush (which I recommend) that I ordered online. I also bought the Overnight Clearing Gel which I have reviewed. This was one of the samples that came with the brush and I loved it instantly, and will probably be the only Dermalogica product that I will fall for (except for Total Eye Care- I liked but now expensive plus gave me a milia- skin tag). I use this in the mornings, and in the evenings I use the soft Dermalogica brush to massage my Caudalie cleanser in. So this is basically my morning cleanser. I have a tough skin that really benefits from having a scrub more than other people's skins. You put the product in your wet hands after wetting your face, but don't add water otherwise you dilute the exfoliant. The product is a powder in a shaker-style container- I like the packaging as you can also see how far you are gone. I then rub it my skin quickly without scrubbing silverware, and it makes a light foam. I really like it, and my skin is soft afterwards. Be sure to moisturise quickly afterwards as it can dry out. I also don't use toner as that would push my skin a bit too far. I have used this a month and it is hard to tell if it helps my breakouts. I still get them though, small pimples that destroys the look. But I will see how I feel in say 2 months' time. TIP: Buy the travel size first, it is half the price of the full one. If you like it then buy the full size. Also don't put it on the edge of the bath without the top on. Disaster will ensue if you knock it in, and you can then throw it away!

Treatments -Dermalogica - Medibac Overnight Clearing Gel
Mattewis 3/5/2011 6:29:00 PM
For fear of coming over as a sourpuss or whiner, I will highlight the good points. It smells good, like eucalyptus and tea tree with a hint of rosemary, but not so strong that you either faint or go on a trip. Nice consistency, easy to rub in, don't need much so I expect it will last a bit. Bad points: I can't tell the difference. I have been using this for a few weeks, almost a month. It doesn't dry me out at all, even if it's winter, but that is because I have oily skin and my skin doesn't care what I put on it, it won't budge. I have small pimples and blackheads, I never had cystic acne and I don't have much of it, just enough to spoil skin that is actually nice if it wasn't for the one pimple on the cheek, the red mark on the other cheek, and the small one on the forehead. So I am lucky but I still have mild acne. It does nothing for me, skin looks the same than before. I will use it until finished but won't buy it again. Even if I put it on a spot before it emerges properly the spot still comes.

Cleansers -Caudalie - Instant Foaming Cleanser
Mattewis 3/5/2011 6:21:00 PM
Beware- this product is only if you have oily skin, or at least the type of skin you can slap anything on without breaking the mirror the next day- ie elephant skin. It won't work with dry and combination skin. I like this cleanser. It is light and airy, the smell is sweetish, somewhat interesting. I have always liked foam cleansers so that might contribute to me liking it. It does a good job of cleaning, but I must say that I remove my make-up with Caudalie's cleansing water first so the foam only removes the grime and last trace of make-up. It can make skin tight if you are over-zealous. I will buy again until I get bored with it. I personally think it does a better job than most cleanser I have used thus far- quite a lot!

I like the price- it is quite economical and lasts a while. Some don't like the jar-idea, but I do, because you can scrape the last bit out. The smell is soft lavender, and the texture is a fluffy white cream. I use it as a night cream, but be warned to use only a little- you can overdo it which will give you the dreaded A... Get a spatula like a plastic chip or wooden ice cream stick that you clean regularly. I find this makes the application hygienic (no fingers in the pot) and you can control how much you put on your face. My skin is soft and glowing, I really like it. I will always go back to it. In the winter, you can easily put more on, or use the ultimate version instead.

Cleansers -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Lavender Renewal and Vitality for Sensitive Skin Facial Cleansing Gel
Mattewis 7/27/2008 9:01:00 AM
Several other reviewers complained about the cleanser drying their skin out. Well, the bottle states it is for Normal-Oily skin. Don't use if you have any doubts about your skin type. I like the product because it cleans very well, has a nice soft lather, and I especially like the pump dispenser. In summer it is ideal, and in winter I will use it at night only. I like the scent but some might not. I don't like citrus smells, others do. Just a matter of taste. Yes, it is drying if you overdo it. So use a good moisturiser immediately, and I skip the toner because it is too much. But if you have an oily skin that is also sensitive, and you can tolerate foaming cleansers, this is a good choice.

Shampoo -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Jason Natural Lavender Shampoo

I love the smell but that is about it. It lathers well for a natural product but I need to use a lot of it. It cleanses well but then a day later my hair is oily. It does make a residue. According to the label, it gives volume and I must say that is true! It does give a lot of bounce but it doesn't last long. It is OK. Update: I stopped using it because my head itched like mad. Might be the lavender.

Moisturizers -Weleda - Skin Food

I used this on my face. It got rid of the dryness BUT I would not recommend it for facial use. It is a very thick cream that is great for the area around the eyes, elbows and heels, as well as an intensive hand cream. But it's not suitable for the face at all. It caused breakouts. The only persons who should be using it on the face is someone with mature, dry skin, and then only as a night cream. But for younger skin it's not that great. However, for dry skin and hands it is fabulous. It smells lovely too and the price is not bad at all. It lasts a long while, I've had it for two months and I use it every day and I still need to a while before replacing it.
