Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Histoires de Parfums 1804

This starts with a very strong pineapple juice smell and then there is a strong patchouli smell. I am sure there is more to it than that but those are the two very striking aspects that made a distinct impression on me. The pineapple is like drinking a glass of pineapple juice - it's a realistic and strong pineapple - which I would be open to, but unfortunately I don't like fruitchoulis. As fruitchoulis go, however, I would classify it as a quality product.

This smells good - it smells like flowers. I am surprised it is tuberose because I thought I didn't like tuberose. Nevertheless, I'm not picking up on what's so interesting about it. Will keep trying. edited: I have changed it from 3 to 5. I chose to wear it for my Valentine's Day/Anniversary dinner and it was a good one.

Watery nothing. Characterless and not worth putting on.

Barely there mall fruity floral with a sour tone. Characterless. Edited: Sometimes my sense of smell is even poorer than at other times, and I was wrong to class this as characterless. It's not that bad. Sort of tart mall fruity floral that's semi-decent.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Chene

Awful. There are two things it reminds me of: a toy from the early 80s called a Wacky Wallwalker that was a little rubbery octopus that you threw at the wall and it would stick and crawl/tumble down while sticking to the wall. And it had a disturbing smell. And this smell also reminds me of a cantaloupe or honeydew if you take all the fresh, fruity or sweet aspect out and just leave the disturbing bit.

Vegetable Stock. A spice like thyme? Vegetable Thins crackers? Or curry powder?

This smelled like grape soda or candy and I laughed out loud. Smell again ... Not quite grape but that's the closest ... I nice smelling grape, possibly flowers behind it? I focused my mind on thinking of cedar and can sort of feel it ... Grape cough drop.

Fragrances -Serge Lutens - Cuir Mauresque

Hideous, I can't believe anyone would wear this or think it smells good. I agree with the comments below that reference the tire store, the asphalt, and the motor oil but this smells worse. I can smell the leather, though. I checked yes for buy again because I am having fun smelling these Serge samples - each one so different. If I could give two scores, I would also give it a 5 for craftsmanship. This smell is a real smell, the smell of something, i.e., it's not just a collection of notes, it's a powerful smell, and the smell has carved out its place in my brain, so that throughout the day I'd catch a whiff of something and that smell would pop into my brain, even though it was actually gone. I was proud of owning such an unusual perfume so I asked a co-worker to try it, and she said it wasn't that bad (and I was disappointed) and then she immediately washed it off. One hour later she came to my office and said the smell was getting worse and worse! (Although she had washed it off!) That is what we are dealing with here. (I offered her some Bath and Body Works Winter Candy Apple Hand Lotion to help her cover the smell since it wouldn't wash off completely). Of the 3 hideous, 1 bad, 1 not-bad-but-very odd and overpowering, and 1 kind of good but overpowering Serge Lutens samples I've tried, Cuir Mauresque is the most dramatic and impressive. (The six scents referenced in the last sentence are, in order: Cuir Mauresque, Chypre Rouge, and Chene; Gris Clair; Cedre; and Douce Amere). I will be trying some less "challenging" ones soon.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in #249 Vanity [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Marybeth818 12/20/2011 10:06:00 AM

A comment on dupes : upper left is Blanc Type! It's a different color than the similar shade in Greed and I Heart Matte). Middle left is not quite wedge (but very similar.) Lower left is the same as the color in I Heart Matte. (the consensus seems to be that the other four are embark, nylon, either gorgeous gold or goldmine, and mulch, but I can't comment since I don't have any of those).

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Palette - Greed [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

Not really a review but a comment on dupes. Upper left: same as the upper right in the I Heart Matte palette. Different than the upper right in the Vanity palette (which is like Blanc Type). Some have said it's brule and some say it's bisque but I don't know. But it's a very useful one (dep. On skin tone.) I put it above my looks to blend/ smooth out. Middle left: someone below said Samoa Silk but it's not. I have swatted them side by side and Samoa Silk is significantly lighter and yellowy-er. It's much closer to Arena but Arena is also lighter and yellow-er - Arena is like a cross between this and Samoa Silk. This is also the same as the second-right in the I Heart Matte, but the one in Greed is slightly more pigmented. The black's the same as in I heart Matte also. The upper right's kind of a neat color but not very soft or pigmented. The middle right is similar to Honey Lust - a little lighter. The bottom right is similar but ever so slightly different than the one in Blue Had Me at Hello. Well I've just proved that I didn't need this palette, but I definitely recommend it for the first two right-hand colors if you don't have I Heart Matte.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wild Orchid 457
rated 4 of 5
Marybeth818 12/17/2011 7:28:00 PM

This is not a show orchid dupe. It is darker and purpler. And creamier. Show orchid is brighter, lighter and pinker. They both have that duo chrome. By saying that Show Orchid is brighter, I don't mean to imply that it's bolder. I recommend them both.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection - Petal Pusher (736)
rated 1 of 5
Marybeth818 11/20/2011 7:52:00 AM

This was bad - I bought this and Blue Had Me at Hello. The quality between the two was really different. When you swatch these, the powder falls around and not very much of the color sticks to the skin. I made a half-hearted attempt to use the purples and I looked like I'd been punched. I took it back to the store and got my two dollars back, which I used on other, better Wet n Wild palettes. (All the others I tried were much better than this one.)

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - I Love Matte Palette
rated 5 of 5
Marybeth818 11/20/2011 7:44:00 AM

I'm cheating a little because I haven't really worn it (sort of did one eye with the two upper right neutrals) but the quality of this is fantastic. There is a fantastic highlight color in here. The top three on the right seem very useful. Some of these are the same colors from palettes with names of the deadly sins, so if you have those, take that into consideration. The reason I'm writing is: this seems hard to find. My Walgreen's only got one of them I think. So if you want this, you should probably start searching (it's only available at Walgreen's for holiday '11.) The only one in here that's not perfect in terms of pigmentation is the purple, but it's still good - just not as good. Edit- I've used all of these colors and they are great. The only two not found in the deadly sins palettes are the blue and purple. The top right shade is in the greed palette, but it's different from the one in the vanity palette.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
Marybeth818 10/29/2011 8:43:00 AM

I am writing because I am 45 and cool-toned, so I wasn't sure whether to buy this, like a lot of other people who are older and/or cool-toned. I kept the receipt just in case I didn't end up liking it, but I did. There are plenty of colors that work, it doesn't really accentuate wrinkles, and people are right to note that the quality is very high, and that the price is good for so many usable ones plus a brush and UDPP. So I say go for it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter
rated 5 of 5
Marybeth818 10/27/2011 6:58:00 PM

Wearing these instead of lipstick during the day (and wearing Aquaphor at night) has already made a big difference and I've only had them for four days. My lips feel very comfortable day or night now. I've bought them in 9 colors, plus one for a friend. My favorite color is candy apple (warm clear red, heading in the tomato direction.) I have worn: raspberry pie, tutti frutti, red velvet, and sweet tart - all great. Raspberry Pie is the only one that's a little hard to wear - it's a dramatic berry, kinda magenta. Sweet tart is a medium clear bright pink, sheer. Tutti Frutti is a clear coral, along the lines of MAC Everhip or Korres mango lip butter. Red Velvet is a fall red - very pigmented. I've just bought 4 more and so far I am less blown away but I guess it figures I'd pick the best ones first. Thanks to Revlon for making a perfect lip product at a low-ish price!
