Mascara -Kiss Me - Kiss Me Mascara
Marlene5532 5/13/2004 6:32:00 AM
This is a very expensive mascara at $24 but I love it, especially for the lower lashes. However, when used alone on upper lashes it does not do too much for me. You get nicely defined, albiet thin, lashes. I want more thickness. So I curl lashes, apply Benefit's Bad Gal to the top lashes only. While that is drying, I use Kiss Me on the bottom lashes. Then I return to the top apply Kiss Me for a second and final coat. It does a good job on me that way, giving me a thicker and longer lash than if used alone. Sometimes this is a big production in the morning and I don't always feel up to this rather arduous ritual but the results are nice. I have always had a problem with mascara smudging on the lower lashes and leaving me with that raccoon look, but Kiss Me stays on better than anything else I have ever tried.

Fragrances -Escada - Ibiza Hippie
Marlene5532 5/12/2004 6:31:00 AM
Very cheerful and refreshing summer fragrance. After receiving a decant from a kind MUA'er I had to buy this for myself. Staying power is not good, but because of this and other fragrances I have that don't last, I purchased small glass roll on bottles (which are surprisingly CHEAP) and little funnels. That way, I can make my own purse size versions of what I am wearing each day to take along with me. But this one is a fruity summery concoction that works well in the heat and humidity of New Orleans. Not a winter scent, although down here winter is just three days. The initial blast of this is cherry Kool-Aid but it settles down pretty quickly to something berry-ish on me and I like it. I receive compliments on this whenever I wear it. A keeper.

Fragrances -Creed - Fleurs de Bulgarie
Marlene5532 5/12/2004 6:24:00 AM
I received this as a very generous decant from another wonderful MUA'er and love it. It is the darker side of Fleur de The Rose Bulgarie. While FDTRB has a light and fresh appeal, this one is darker, murkier and duskier. I love this but will only get it as a decant in swaps when I run out. Although I am fond of it, I prefer a lighter floral. But every now and then I reach for my little roll on decant and slather it on, basking in the muskier side of life. A very sophisticated rose. Probably best for evening wear. But it is delicious in its decadence.

Fragrances -Creed - Fleurissimo
Marlene5532 5/12/2004 6:18:00 AM
This was another Creed that I swooned over at first whiff. I purchased the 2.5 ounce vat and that is a lot of fragrance for one person to use. I keep it tucked in a dark room in its little box as suggested by a very knowledgeable MUA'er but still worry how long it will stay fresh. I like this on its own or layered with Spring Flower. I would share this by decants in swaps because I think there is too much here for me to use on my own. But I love the fragrance; it makes me feel wonderful and envelopes me in a delicious floral aura. Lasting power is not so good so I have decanted into a 1/3 ounce roll on to carry with me so that I can re-apply during the day.

Fragrances -Creed - Spring Flower
Marlene5532 5/12/2004 6:11:00 AM
It was love at first whiff for me, a floral lover. I purchased a huge 2.5 ounce jug which is really a lot of fragrance. I reach for this often and sometimes layer it with Fleurissimo. However, I don't think I would repurchase as I have enough to last forever and sooner or later, fickle me will move on. This is one I would like to share with others by decant swaps because I don't think I could use it up all up by myself. Although I keep it in a dark, unused room away from light and heat, tucked in its box, I just don't know how long it will stay fresh and true.

Fragrances -Creed - Jasmal
Marlene5532 5/12/2004 6:01:00 AM
My husband, known for his deep and insightful thoughts on scents when I thrust my arm under his nose, said this one smelled nice. His usual response is "wash that s--t off," so this one is a winner. I think Jasmal is wonderful, despite his rather lackluster approval. Since this one is the only one that got his approval at all in the last few months, as I have been exploring many new fragrances, I will be wearing this often when he is around. His saying it as nice was tantamount to extraordinary praise.

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - a pigment of your imagination vitamin c and k eye gel
Marlene5532 5/11/2004 10:36:00 AM
This is great stuff. Really works in the morning to reduce under eye bagginess. Cooling and refreshing. Not to be confused with the eye and lip cream, a different product. This one comes in a little jar and is yellow and gel-like.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
Marlene5532 5/11/2004 10:32:00 AM
My HG facial cleanser. Just the best. Tears through all my makeup at the end of the day. Leaves my face really clean. Gets out those annoying black dots on my nose. I have tried nearly every cleanser out there and this one is the best all around cleanser I have ever used. I will never let myself run out of this.

Scrubs -Philosophy - The Greatest Love
Marlene5532 5/11/2004 10:29:00 AM
This is a so-so exfoliator. You are supposed to apply it to cleansed, dry skin, then work it in for a minute and rinse it off. It leaves behind a grease slick similar to your having applied Vaseline with a canoe paddle. You have to wash your face all over again to get off the gunk. If you want a terrific exfoliator, spend your money on Philosophy's Resurface Kit which works better and leaves your skin clean and fresh. You don't need to wash your face again when you are done.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel
Marlene5532 5/10/2004 6:45:00 AM
I spritzed a bit on my wrist from a sample I received and started reading the reviews, sniffing periodically to compare my experience with that of others. The person who compared it to a fruity cough syrup was right on the money. If you want to try for yourself, you can purchase this scent really cheap at Walgreens in the cough syrup section. Get the flavored red kind. Really big bottle for about $5. I am so thankful a generous MUA'er sent me this sample because I nearly purchased this based on desriptions of it on various fragrances websites. Glad I waited. So many fragrances out there that smell much nicer than this.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy
Marlene5532 5/9/2004 11:05:00 AM
I too liked this one when I sampled it in a VS store. However, I purchased a 1/3 ounce fragrance oil version for $7.50 which smells exactly like it and will last me forever. Nice. I do reach for it now and then.

Fragrances -Davidoff - Cool Water for Women
Marlene5532 5/9/2004 10:48:00 AM
RIS. To me it smells like men's aftershave. Very sharp. Stays on all day. And I do mean, all day. Never goes away. I was looking forward to receiving this because many of the reviews here were good. I can see why the MUA'er who sent it to me in swap wanted to be done with it. Very disappointed in this one. Perhaps my particular body chemistry is at fault and it may be great on someone else. Just not on me.

Fragrances -Creed - Fleur de The Rose Bulgare
Marlene5532 5/7/2004 6:53:00 AM
This one is the gold standard by which all other fragrances are measured, and nothing, I mean nothing, comes close to this. A generous and kind MUA'er sent me a small spray vial and when I applied it to my arm and sucked up the aroma, I nearly dropped dead. I could not stop smelling the aroma wafting up from my arm. It was the most incredible scent I have ever come across in my life. Naturally, I had to get it for myself. I also ordered little empty fragrance bottles so I could share this with others. When I inhale the aroma, it's like I have fallen into a vat of fresh rose petals and it is just heavenly. My very own HG, and it's on its way to me now.

Fragrances -Cacharel - Eau D'Eden
Marlene5532 5/7/2004 6:44:00 AM
I just purchased this after reading all the positive comments from everyone at MUA. It takes a lot for a fragrance to get such high accolades from this knowledgeable group and I knew, as a floral lover, I could not go wrong. It is readily available at many websites, selling for about $40 for a 3.4 ounce EDT, which is not a bad price to pay either. I love it. Very soft. Feminine. Not too many people know about this one so I will not smell like everyone else. However, it is no match for Creed's Spring Flower, Fleurissimo, Jasmal, or the big kahuna, Fleur de The Rose Bulgarie. I reach for those the most but Eau D'Eden will be fun to switch off to. No matter how much I like something, I don't want to smell the same everyday and this is a fine addition to anyone's fragrance wardrobe.

Fragrances -Antonia's Flowers - Tiempe Passate
Marlene5532 5/3/2004 5:12:00 PM
I got a sample vial of this directly from Antonia's Flowers in Maine because it is the favorite scent of another MUA'er whose opinions I hold in high regard. I used the entire vial on my wrists and inner elbows of both arms. The fragrance was indeed very nice. Then, 5 minutes later, POOF! it was gone. I mean, I could literally smell nothing. My skin apparently ate it up because there was not even a residual whiff. I stuck my arm under my husband's nose to see if it was just me but he too could smell nothing. How can this be? At that price I would expect it to last longer than a nanosecond. Too bad because what I did smell at the beginning was rather good.
