Scrubs -Thymes Limited - Fig Leaf and Cassis Body Scrub
Manillo 5/30/2012 12:15:00 AM
Just took a shower with this scrub and I had one of the best shower experiences of my life. I had to come on here and write a review. The first time I tried this scrub, I used it wrong. I took a bath first and then proceeded to "scrub" myself with this. Well, because of my bath, my skin was ultra sensitive and when I applied it, I didn't apply it in circular motions like the directions stated. The salt in it burned my skin something seriously. Well, tonight I decided to try this again. I was going to at least use it all up. Well, first of all the scent is so dayum relaxing. It put you in a state of zen. Second, I applied it in the circular motions so it wasn't too abrasive on my skin like before. When I washed it off my body, my skin felt so moisturized. I felt good. I almost wished I had a boyfriend at that time so he could hold me and feel how silky good I felt. With that being said, I took a lippy off because I've used about 3/5 of the jar in only two uses. I don't think this jar is going to last me more than 5 or 6 uses. I am a little upset especially now that I'm seeing that it normally runs for like $35! I lucked out because I got this from TJ Maxx for like $10. Kinda saddens me because I found a holy grail product that I won't be able to afford. I'm heading back to TJ Maxx tomorrow to see if they have anymore left so I can stock up on it.

Treatments -Aphogee - Two-Step Protein Treatment (formerly Treatment for Damaged Hair)
Manillo 3/26/2012 3:02:00 PM
This works. It really does work for damaged hair...at least it works for my african american transitioning hair. I'm currently growing out my relaxer and my hair has been breaking off and I have been losing strands everytime I wash and comb it. Even if I just run my fingers through my hair, I inevitably lose hair. Well after one of these treatments, boy did I notice a change in my hair! It did not stop the breakage completely, but I would say it stopped about 80% of it. I will definitely be doing this treatment every 6-8 weeks faithfully from now on. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it smells horrible and it is extremely messy and runny. But it will turn your hair around. Now I'm kicking myself because I endured a year worth of breakage for nothing!!!

Lotions/ Creams -Carol's Daughter - Roses and Honey Shea Soufflé
Manillo 3/13/2012 1:00:00 PM
I found this at TJ Maxx for $10! It's normally $20-$30. This is one of the most heavenly scented products and one of the most moisturizing body creams ever. It will leave your skin feeling so velvety soft and smooth. Plus, all of the ingredients seem to be made from mostly natural ingredients, so there's no mineral oil. :)

Scrubs -St. Ives - Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control
Manillo 9/11/2011 1:51:00 AM
OMG, I stopped using this product way back when because I read that the beads in the product were much too abrasive and they scratched the surface of the skin. So, I stopped using it. Since that time I had been on the elusive search to find a product which exfoliated my skin. I tried everything from other scrubs to masks. Everything either left my skin feeling coated or it didn't clean it good enough. When I would dry my face on my washcloth, I would see all the dead skin that was left behind. I finally decided to pick this up the other day because I was desperate for something that would exfoliate my skin and not leave dead skin behind. Man, why did I give this up in the first place? It cleans my skin so perfectly. The beads can be very rough but I make sure to mix it with water and scrub very delicately. I'm left with clean, smooth skin that is exfoliated. No dead skin. I use about every 2-3 days.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - L'Oreal Colour Riche Lip Gloss Soft Nude
Manillo 3/30/2010 12:56:00 PM
So I needed a replacement for my L'oreal Color Juice lipgloss in Butterscotch Drop. That thing gave me the PERFECT nude lip. I panicked when I couldn't find it in any stores, so in a hit of desperation I chose this product because it seemed to be about the same shade. The verdict? I love it! It is the perfect nude and not to mention it is not sticky at all. It has a lip applicator which makes applying easy and convenient. I can apply this without a mirror and it has no funky scent or taste. This is really a product I wouldn't have expected to find at a drugstore. A great nude for a dark skinned cute. I can't wait to try some of the other colors.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
Manillo 1/14/2010 2:27:00 PM
Ugh, I am pretty sure it is the honey mask which I have been using for the past 2 days which has caused me to have a reaction and now I have small bumps all over my face. I don't know why it didn't work for me because I would have LOVED it to. I'm upset. I may try again once my allergic reaction clears just to make absolutely sure that it was the honey causing this. But as for now, I am swearing off this mess.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

What is it with all the hype about this product? It didn't moisturize my face at all. I hate big companies that market their products to make it seem like everyone loves it. Don't waste your money with this BS.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Mizani Moisturfusion Silk Cream Conditioner
Manillo 10/10/2009 4:45:00 PM
I just love Mizani products and I think I am going to finally begin to have brand-loyalty as soon as I use up all the other shampoos and conditioners in my closet. Yes, their products are just that good. This conditioner does an excellent job at infusing my hair with moisture and also detangling it. I couldn't ask for more. It's pretty expensive, so buyers beware!

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Mizani Thermasmooth Shampoo
Manillo 10/10/2009 4:42:00 PM
Ok, so this doesn't seem to strip my hair when I wash with it. I have been slinking away from shampoos that strip my hair too much, but this leaves my hair soft and detangled. I adore it, just wish it didn't cost so much!

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Mizani - Moisturfuse Moisturizing Conditioner
Manillo 10/10/2009 4:39:00 PM
The bomb! I love this conditioner. I have always stuck to conditioners that others on haircare boards rave about. Even when I couldn't really see a difference in my hair, I always told myself, oh well it has to be working because everyone else says it is. When I use this product, I can finally feel a difference in my hair. It is soft, detangled, and the comb just glides through my strands. I'm actually not too big a fan of the smell, but who cares. I think this conditioner is one of the best moisturizing conditioners for African-American relaxed hair.

Hair -Clairol - Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Shampoo and Conditioner

This made my relaxed, African American hair dry and tangled as the dickens. It does not work at all for me! But the scent it leaves behind is heavenly.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
Manillo 10/10/2009 4:16:00 PM
First off, I think the brush sucks. It puts very little product on at a time, and so I have to keep going over my lashes which often leads me to mess up my eyeshadow! Second, this mascara does lengthen but it gives NO volume, which I hate. The length I get is cool, but I'm sure I can find another mascara that lengthens better and gives volume. All in all, this mascara is not worth it for me. I cannot wait to use it all up. ETA: This is now my staple mascara. It only give length but that's all I need for now.

Cleansers -Garnier - Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Daily Exfoliating Gel Cleanser
Manillo 9/16/2009 1:08:00 AM
I agree with kywildcatgirl. Oh my goodness, this thing broke my skin out something seriously! Although I never noticed any marked improvement in my skin, this exfoliator did its job of cleansing my skin, so I kept using it (solely for the purposes of using it up). Then, break outs all over my face! I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my skin and why I was having such bad acne all over my face. It became embarrassing because I'm on prescription strength topical treatments (Duac and Differin-Gel) and I assumed my bad breakout days were behind me because I hadn't broken out that badly in years. I thought it was the honey scrub that I tried for the first time that might have caused a bad reaction. And then I went one night without using this mess and my skin cleared up about 50%! So be careful when using this product. I'm not sure what's in it that made me break out so. Oh and I could live without the menthol smell its made of also.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Wetslicks Fruit Spritzer Fig Splash
Manillo 8/26/2009 1:16:00 PM
So a girl who goes to my school and whose makeup always looks immaculate, told me she used this. So I thought, what the heck, I'm gonna try it. Well, I don't know if she lied to me so I would be walking around looking like a zombie with off-colored lips but this didn't have the effect that I was ultimately going for, like a pretty pinkish-bronzish shade. It's more silverish. I have to use a mirror when applying this product because if I dont, my lips look so unnatural. Used in moderation, its ok, but I hate how it moves around on my lips!

Fragrances -Gucci - Eau de Parfum II
Manillo 8/26/2009 12:53:00 PM
Ok, so this smells AMAZING! I don't even know how to describe the smell. It's a floral smell for sure. I like it because it's not too heavy, but the bad thing about it is it doesn't have much staying power. It doesn't last long at all. It is gone usually within a couple of hours. I would recommend spraying it on clothes to get it to stay on you longer. Good luck. Oh and by the way, the price sucks. It is way too expensive.
