Fragrances -Coty - Halle by Halle Berry

I really like this scent. It's gourmand but not sickeningly sweet. It has a chypre-like grounding effect between the fruity topnotes and the sweet praline drydown. I think it is elegant, unique and delicious. I don't like the spray nozzle because although it works just fine, it's gold plastic and I find that a tacky match with the glass bottle. This scent is perfect for evening wear or if worn lightly, casual. It's a delicious comfort scent with a moderate amount of sillage. The price is great and I think it would make a nice gift for someone who likes gourmand scents. I hope this scent does not get discontinued. It's such a great value!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Britney Spears Believe

This scent reminds me of a cross between Halle and Lovely or NR For Her. It is more fruity and sweeter than Lovely/NR, like a light version of Halle, which is sweeter and more intense/rich. Believe is a sharp, tart, crisp fruity floral which dries down to a subtly sweet base.

Fragrances -Guerlain - My Insolence

Sweet, powdery gourmand. Best part is drydown which to me is very close to the scent of Montale's Sweet Oriental Dream but softer and a bit less dry. I have and wear both but I prefer the Guerlain as it is less linear and softer.

Fragrances -Coty - Stetson - American Original

After reading The Perfume Guide I also wanted to get my cheap thrill on. I bought both the aftershave and the cologne. The cologne is a tad more full-bodied and less soapy-smelling than the former. This scent might as well be a Chanel. I smell aldehydes in the initial blast which has a soft soapy/slightly sweet and sour/waxy quality such as with Chanel No 5. Fragrance Notes: Lime, Lavender, Clary Sage, Bergamot, Lemon, Carnation, Patchouli, Orris Root, Jasmine, Vetiver, Cedar, Geranium, Honey, Tonka Bean, Amber, Musk, Vanilla. The fragrance quickly goes from citrusy herbal to sweet woody musk. It is not incredibly sweet though. It still retains the soft soapy notes of earlier while the base notes dominate. Lasting power is okay but it does need refreshing at least every several hours if not more. I don't know if this fragrance is available in a stronger concentration but I'm on the hunt.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Victoria Beckham Signature Story for Her EDT
rated 3 of 5

It smells similar to Lovely yet warmer and creamier. It smells similar to Avon's Rare Pearls. I would recommend testing prior to purchase because it might not mix well with certain body chemistries.

A nice unique light amber scent with whisperings of incense and woods. Creamy, sweet and cuddly. I stocked up since it was on clearance. Great lasting power.

Fragrances -GAP Beauty - Mandarin Jasmine
rated 4 of 5
Mamota 2/5/2008 12:39:00 PM

After testing this, I realized that it reminded me of a scent that had long been discontinued, the old version of Victoria's Secret Gardenia lotion that came out in the early '90s. In fact, the Gap scent reminded me so much of it that I decided that I had to have it for nostalgia's sake. It's a soft, creamy, sweet light gardenia scent. The mandarin top note is there initially but fleeting. The drydown is what makes this scent appealing for me. Lasting power is good. I also managed to get my bottle on clearance so that was an added plus.

Fragrances -Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Perfumes - Secrete Datura

This is a rich, heady, sweet scent that smells like a mix of the original Poison and Avon's Sweet Honesty, although lighter and creamier. It's one of my favorites.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Midnight Fantasy Britney Spears

This perfume isn't terrible but I don't like the concept of artifical blueberry-scented perfume. It's very sweet, creamy and a bit woody rich with floral undertones. If you like very sweet and sugary perfumes, then this would likely please you. Lasting power isn't very good, though.

Fragrances -Guerlain - Angelique Noire
rated 5 of 5
Mamota 12/17/2007 11:52:00 PM

The combination of angelica and vanilla sounds a bit odd to me but it works. The green citrus herbal notes are the most pronounced initially and then blend in subtly with a dark, creamy, softly woody vanilla. The result is simultaneously cold and warm. It is something completely different from most vanillas out there.

Fragrances -Cacharel - Promesse
rated 1 of 5
Mamota 10/31/2007 5:23:00 PM

This is one of those ubiquitous modern sheer fruity florals. While I have nothing against this category of fragrances, I didn't find anything special about this one. In fact, on me, it was primarily vinegar/mustard. I have smelled it on others and it smells fresh, sweet and pink, so if you have someone in mind for this type of scent, it might please her to receive a bottle.

I wanted to like this. It is a rich, sweet, thick floral blend, much like Ombre Rose or Lipstick Rose. To me, it is overly sweet, syrupy and powdery. Here is a description from Jan Moran: Year introduced: 1987 Scent Type: Floral Oriental Top Notes: Bergamot, blackcurrant buds, green leaves, marigold, mandarin Heart Notes: Jasmine, heliotrope, mimosa, tiare, ylang-ylang Base Notes: Tonka bean, incense, iris, musk, vanilla, sandalwood

Fragrances -Cacharel - Anais Anais
rated 4 of 5
Mamota 10/31/2007 5:10:00 PM

This is a lovely, soft classic "feminine" floral bouquet of greens. There is no tartness like so many of the modern sheer florals. If you like Laura Ashley No. 1 or Fiori di Capri, then you might like this.

Fragrances -Cacharel - Noa Fleur
rated 5 of 5

This is a light version of the original with a rose emphasis. I prefer it to the original, actually. It is a fresh, green, somewhat sweet and soapy floral. It makes you feel fresh and clean when you wear it. If you like Beautiful Sheer or Stella, you might like this.

I really like this scent. It's a modern woody floral, not too sweet but not too light. The top note smells a little like urine but it fades quickly to a warm, fresh somewhat soapy, flowery scent. It is a unique scent in the soapy/green floral category. It could be worn day or evening.. I think the bottle design is a little awkward but pretty with the little pearl inside the bottle. If you like scents like Beautiful or Vera Wang, you might like this.
