Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof

I too fell victim to all of the grand reviews of this product. Needing a waterproof mascara for summer time, I bought this for a mere $7 at my drugstore. I immediately did NOT like the tube when I took it out of the package. It was slippery in my hand and I felt it was very awkward to hold in my hand when applying. I actually dropped it twice the first time I used it. I found the wand to be too big and bulky to really get at my lashes. One plus was that it didn't clump on me, but I felt the look after applying wasn't anything to write home about, not great but not horrible either. Approximately an hour after applying, I happened to walk by a mirror at work and much to my chagrin, I had little black flakes all over my upper cheeks from the mascara, & I only applied one coat!! ICK!!! The straw that broke the camels back was trying to get it off at the end of the day. Neither my normal jojoba oil or eye makeup remover would budge the stuff. I had to RUB the heck out of my eye with a cotton pad to even get some of it off. NOT GOOD!!!! I suppose if you want a mascara for your wedding day, this might work, but I'd be scared of the icky black flakes. Try Maybelline full 'n soft waterproof. AWESOME stuff.

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar

I'm 34, a mom to 3 and I LOVE this scent. It's light, but it does linger on me & I like that people can't smell it unless they are close. I can't stand it when I walk in a room and can smell someone's perfume or cologne from 5 or more feet away...no matter how great it smells!! I've had so many people compliment this scent on me, and everyone says it reminds them of something "happy"...cupcakes, licorice and one person said her my little ponies when she was a kid! I'm a vivacious, adventuresome girl, if my perfume scent makes people smile & think happy thoughts, EVEN BETTER!!

Fragrances -Tocca - Cleopatra EDP

I so wanted to love this fragrance. But I don't. I was, and still am, trying to find a fragrance to replace my beloved Tranquil Breezes by Victoria's Secret that was discontinued years ago. I have NEVER found anything that smelled even remotely similar. I had read a review somewhere, maybe MUA, that said that it smelled like my long-lost fragrance, so I tried a sample. VERY disappointed. The dry down of this scent smelled like heavy, cheap, old lady perfume on me. I'm sure it smells nice on others, but my body chemistry does NOT work well with a lot of fragrances, and this falls into that catagory. I was hoping for a lighter, fruity fragrance but no such luck.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Salux Nylon Japanese Bath Towel
rated 5 of 5

I bought one of these puppies online and have been using it for a few weeks. Right after getting it, I came down with a nasty case of poison oak rash on my shoulders, arms and upper thigh area. I have had numerous cases of poison oak as I have grown up in the mountains hiking, biking, yard work etc... It's inevitable around here. But.... back to the Salux cloth. This is HUGE. because poison oak rashes have been known to ruin my skin for a whole summer because of the dry/scaley/bumpy mess that's left. Not this time thanks to the Salux cloth!! The dryness went away in half the time and summer skin is glowing and beautiful! My boyfriend has also been commenting a lot more lately on how soft my skin feels. I love it!! I decided to try and be even more economical and cut mine in 1/2 so I could have a clean one being washed. Well, my 9year old decided to use one of the halfs to scrub the birdcage with. ICK!!!! That half went in the garbage!! But at least I still have a nice big peace to work with, and well, my birdies got a REALLY clean cage!! lol

Liquid -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Serum Absolute Advanced Age-Reversing Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I REALLY like this foundation. I am 34 but have a very young appearance (people normally guess I am 10+ years younger than I am) with very minimal fine lines and aging of the skin. I don't really feel I need anti-aging products yet, esp in my foundation, but my 60 year old mother turned me onto it after she got so many compliments on her skin while wearing this foundation. Below are my Pros & Cons: Pros- - Great coverage, natural looking and not cakey - Pump is hygienic - Price is reasonable - SPF of 17 - Gives a soft airbrushed effect, not overly matte or dewey - Does NOT break my sensitive/combination skin out Cons- - Pump doesn't get all of the product and I end up having to scrape it out of the bottle with a q-tip - color is not listed on the bottle anywhere so if you loose the cap like I did while traveling, you are outta luck when repurchasing! I even took the UPC number to the store to match up and mine did not match! Grrrr! All in all, I really like this foundation. Not quite HG but almost!! I will for sure repurchase as soon as I figure out what color I need! ;)

Crème -L'Oreal - magic smooth souffle
rated 2 of 5

I really really wanted to like this foundation. I tried it after loving the Visible Lift foundation but wanting something a little lighter for my low-key makeup days. This mousse feels and looks like marshmellow creme on the face. It doesn't blend well and sticks in ANY little dry spots you have and accentuates them! Ick!! I tried applying first with my fingers and just couldn't get it to work. If I wasn't super careful, little globs of the stuff would get stuck in my hairline and eyebrows. ICK!! The second time I tried it, I used a foundation brush and this gave me a better result if I buffed it on. I would say it has a fairly nice airbrushed look but it rubs off soooo easily! And for what you get, the price seems a bit much for a DS foundation, so I will stick with my Revlon Colorstay or L'Oreal Visible Lift. Magic Smooth Souffle, I am not your fan!!

Blush -Tarte - Cheek Stain in The Perfect Pink
rated 4 of 5
MakeupAlee 6/29/2011 2:10:00 PM

I really like this cheek stain, the consistency is really nice and blends very well. The issue I have is that for me, the color is very very pale. On days when I'm wearing minimal makeup, it's fine for just a hint of color, and I like that I can toss it in my purse for no-fuss touch ups. I have also used this under my normal powder blush as kind of a primer on days when I really need my makeup to STAY, and it definitely helps! My boyfriend LOVED the scent and asked me what was new when he kissed my cheek. It's just a light lavender scent that's not overpowering or fake at all. I think I would repurchase this product, just in a different color.

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
rated 4 of 5

I really like this mascara but I'm not sure it's my absolute fave. I'm on my 2nd tube and it really does make my lashes look nice. I think I'm a bit hesitant because it can be a tad clumpy if not careful. Maybe it's the brush?? I think I'd like to try the waterproof formula because, well, it smudges pretty darn easy too. I'm still in search of my HG mascara, and even though I think this is pretty close, it's not it.

Treatments -Blue Cross - Cuticle Remover
rated 5 of 5
MakeupAlee 6/29/2011 1:42:00 PM

I am a licensed manicurist and have tried MANY products with added ingredients claiming to soften and nourish the cuticle. NOTHING works better than this stuff! We used it in nail tech school and this is all I will ever use. Even though I am not working in a salon anymore, I still use this product on myself and family/friends when I do mani's/pedi's. I have also seen this used in salons on skin that has been discolored by hair color. A little on a cotton ball around the hairline and voila!!
