Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Mirror Mirror - Baby Doll
Madelyn 2/19/2006 7:33:00 PM
This is my favorite lip gloss right now. I love the color -- it looks bright pink in the pot but looks lighter and more sheer when applied. The consistency is really nice and the lasting power is pretty good. I would definitely repurchase this lip gloss.
Fragrances -Demeter - Sugar Cookie Pick Me Up Spray
Madelyn 2/19/2006 7:27:00 PM
I should have read the reviews before buying this product, but I just bought it on a whim at Ulta one day. I don't know what it is with Demeter fragrances, but it seems like when I spray them in the store, they smell good, then I get home and change my mind! The first fragrance I got a few years ago was Angel Food, and I actually loved it and wore it all the time. Since then I have bought 3 other scents, and I have been disappointed with all of them, mostly because they have no lasting power. The main problem with Sugar Cookie is that it does not smell anything like cookies when it is sparayed on the skin. All I could smell was alcohol! The good thing is that the scent faded immediately! I returned this product and have learned not to buy any Demeter fragrances anymore.
I have tried the Jergen's Natural Glow and the Olay Radiance Reviver. I really liked the color I got from Jergen's, but the smell was horrible. The Olay didn't smell so bad, and it was moisturizing, but I didn't notice much color. The Sublime Glow definitely has the self-tanner smell after a while, but I don't think it smells as bad as the Jergen's, and I really like the color that I get from it. I would not ever wear this right after showering or before leaving the house, not only because of the smell, but because it looks sparkly on my skin! I just apply this at night before going to bed.
Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Fantasy Britney spears
Madelyn 2/19/2006 7:12:00 PM
I love how this perfume smells. It is definitely sweet, and it is pretty strong, so just one spritz of it is enough for me. It reminds me a little bit of Escada Magnetism. I wouldn't wear Fantasy every single day, because I get sick of fragrances easily, so I wear it once every few weeks and have gotten compliments on it.
I bought both the shampoo and conditioner, and I really like it. My hair is thick, naturally wavy, and frizes easily. I blow dry my hair regularly, so it can get kind of dry. I think this conditioner is moisturizing without feeling too heavy or weighing down my hair. When my hair is colored or highlighted I prefer to use more moisturizing products, but right now my hair is in pretty good condition, so this is working really well for me.
I read about this in Allure magazine, and I saw all the great reviews on here, so I wanted to try it. When I bought this, my skin was clear -- I hadn't had a single zit in months. I normally use the Proactiv mask & I thought this product might be a cheaper alternative for shrinking pores and keeping my skin clear, but it ended up breaking me out. I used this product two times, and within a couple of days I had a huge zit on my cheek. Later that night, I discovered two more small pimples on the other side of my face. I proceeded to get a new zit every couple of days for the next week, which was horrible because it was right before Christmas. I don't know what is in this stuff that caused the breakouts, but it was the only new product I used on my face at the time, so I threw it out and will never try it again!
It seems like many people do not like this stuff, but I love it! Whenever I use a hot oil treatment, my hair feels so much softer and is a lot shinier. When my hair was damaged a couple years ago, I used this all the time and it helped a lot. Now I just use it once every few weeks.
I like this conditioner a lot. My hair is in pretty good condition right now, but the natural texture is wavy and kind of frizzy. This conditioner makes it feel soft and healthy without weighing it down. I only wish it came in a tube instead of a jar, because I don't like digging the conditioner out.
Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Age Correct No Chip Base + Top Coat [DISCONTINUED]
Madelyn 3/12/2005 4:39:00 PM
This is the only base & top coat that actually keeps my nails from chipping. I have tried every anti-chip product, but this is the best one by far. Usually, my nails would chip after only one day -- just showering would cause them to chip, but now my nail polish lasts for days.
I guess I am in the minority since I was not crazy over this. Although I thought this smelled great in the jar, I didn't like the way it smelled on my skin. I kept smelling alcohol rather than cinnamon frosting! I really did like the way this felt though, so I exchanged it for the Lemon Meringue souffle, which I love.
Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Tutti Dolci - Lemon Meringue lotion
Madelyn 12/19/2004 6:20:00 PM
I love this lotion. When I first saw this line at Bath & Body Works I thought Lemon Meringue would be the last scent I'd want, but I think it is the best one. This has a very lemony smell at first, but then it smells like something that has been baking. I don't think it is too sweet or overpowering though.
Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Fleurie de Tahiti
Madelyn 12/19/2004 6:15:00 PM
I wasn't too crazy over this at first. It reminded me of something an older woman might wear, but it smells very different on me than it smells in the bottle. There is almost a powdery, baby smell to this perfume, but it has a sophisticated note as well. It smells pretty, but I don't think I'd go through an entire bottle.
Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Divine des Tropiques
Madelyn 12/19/2004 6:08:00 PM
I did not like this at all when I fist smelled it. I thought Tropiques was way too sweet and synthetic smelling, almost headache inducing. After a few minutes, however, it changes and smells so much better. I think other reveiwers have also stated that the drydown is much better. I guess I would put this on at least 15 minutes before going out since I don't care for the initial scent.
Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Givrée des Antilles
Madelyn 12/19/2004 6:03:00 PM
I immediately noticed a similarity to Angel when I tried this, but I actually think it smells better. Antilles is not quite as strong as Angel, but it is a little stronger than many of the other scents by La Maison. I think this has more of a chocolate smell rather than vanilla.
Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Madagascar EDT
Madelyn 12/19/2004 5:56:00 PM
I ordered the set of 5 samples, and Madagascar is my favorite scent. There is something about this that sort of reminds me of Lea, which I love but is very expensive. I think this has a pretty powdery smell that is not too strong or sweet.
