Blush -MAC - Satin Blush in Peony Petal
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/7/2012 10:14:00 AM

This is my first MAC blush purchase and I have to say I am impressed! Normally, I wear more warm-toned blushes for fair-skinned people. This was different for me. I wear my NARS luster under this, and use this bright pink as a pop on the cheeks. It looks great! They sold me Angel lipstick, too, but I like the blush better than the lipstick. This reminds me of my old Bobbi Brown pale pink blush, only it blends better and lasts longer on my oily skin. I was hoping it would be a permanent part of the line, but it is LE. Way to go, MAC!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trios - Almond Satin
rated 3 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/30/2011 8:32:00 PM

I like the neutral shades, but the trio is not quite as pigmented as I would like. It has a large portion of ivory matte that is used as a base, then a lid shade that is shimmery, and the crease color is a darker brown that is matte. This is a palette that I would love to love, but it seemed to fade on me throughout the day. The lid color is very close to my regular skin tone.

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Metallic Canyon Shimmers Quad
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/10/2011 8:55:00 PM

I found this yesterday at Ulta. It is great! These colors look better than several others that I own, including BB, LM, NARS, Clinique, etc. It is subtle, but you can tell you are wearing eye shadow. It shimmers, but I don't notice tons of lines or wrinkles on my lids. I really like this stuff!

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Matte
rated 2 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/10/2011 8:45:00 PM

Not impressed. The color matches well, but application is poor. I applied this today, and had a hard time getting the foundation to blend. After much work, I stood back and looked in the mirror. I noticed that this foundation had collected in my pores, making them look enlarged. It was very sheer (as expected) except that it had collected in my pores excessively. Not a good look for me!

Blush -NARS - Sex Appeal
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/4/2011 8:58:00 PM

I am NC 20-ish (I think) and I adore this blush. I am strongly considering getting rid of all my other blushes and using only this one! I love it! It makes me have a very natural flush. I used to have Amour, which is OK, but seemed very bright on my fair skin. Sex Appeal is a very light color, but that is what I like. It also lasts the whole day. I am very pleased and have even purchased a backup. UPDATE: Hit pan!!! Love!

Eye Shadow -NARS - Kuala Lumpur Duo
rated 3 of 5
MackMimiMommy 4/3/2011 11:36:00 AM

I love the look of this in the pan. KL has a rosy gold and purple color. I thought the golds would help warm up the colors, but they still show up quite cool. Anyway, I played with it for a while, but have decided to return it to Saks. Here is the question that I asked myself that convinced me: "Why do I apply concealer everywhere over my reddness, just to apply redness to my lids & look ill?"

Polishes -Essie - Peach Daiquiri
rated 4 of 5
MackMimiMommy 3/29/2011 10:04:00 PM

I got this for about $8 at Walgreens. I was pleased to see a quite extensive Essie display there, although they did not have every color I was in search of. I settled on Peach Daiquiri for my Spring/Summer pedicure color. I love warm, bright colors on my toes in the warmer months of the year. This fits the bill definitely, although many reviewers are correct when they write that it doesn't stand out as overly peach in color. It has more red in it than orange. I am not sure what kind of Peach Daiquiris the Essie people drink that look like this color, although I am sure that they are delicious! I will buy again as the quality seems great!

Shampoo -TRESemme - Healthy Volume Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
MackMimiMommy 3/29/2011 1:21:00 PM

I am tentatively optimitistic with this shampoo. My hair seems very voluminous today. I didn't love the scent, but it doesn't stick to my hair after showering. I hope this replaces the Big Sexy line I've been using because it is less pricey. UPDATE: I used this daily for about a month, but it left my hair flat. Darn it!

Foundations -Stila - Natural Finish Oil Free Makeup
rated 4 of 5
MackMimiMommy 3/11/2011 7:10:00 PM

I got this in Shade B from a swap, and I am pleased with it. I had researched this from the Beautypedia website, and was looking for a long-wearing foundation for oily skin. I really think this leaves a natural look, and the color match is perfect. I usually wear Revlon CS Buff. I did not think it had such minimal coverage. For me, it covered well. I do wish it had a pump, but several foundations do not, so I'm not too stressed about it. I definitely would prefer a foundation with SPF, though. However, I used Clinique City Block underneath, and no pimples popped up! Perhaps I have my my combo! They discontinued my CS Active Light, so I need another foundation that will be reliable. If you are an oily-skinned person, this is worth a try! UPDATE: I just stopped by Sephora today and asked why they didn't have any Natural Finish makeup out. They said that although it is available online, it is being discontinued! I am very disappointed, needless to say!

Fragrances -Clinique - Happy
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/21/2011 4:35:00 PM

I remember when this came out when I was in HS. I didn't go for it then, but it was on a list of perfumes I should try if I like this scent, try this other one. Anyway, I got a sample in a swap, and have been wearing it. It lasts all day and smells great on my skin. In fact, this is the only scent that my husband has ever commented on when I wore it. So, you know that makes it a keeper if he likes it and I like it! As a sidenote, I adore the sample packaging. It has a spray and small cap. It isn't one of those tall, skinny glass vials that tip over so easy when handled by a clumsy wearer (AKA me). I normally love Bulgari scents. Those tend to be pricier, though, and some do not last long on my skin. Happy is my new everyday scent. Oh, and, yes, it does make me feel happier. :)

Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Lipstick - Beauty
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/16/2011 8:38:00 PM

I got this in a swap, and I love it! It is my new everyday lip color. I am fair, and lipsticks tend to stand out on my lips. So, I am always in search of a color that is more subtle. This is it! It is subtle, but not boring. You can tell I am wearing lipstick, but lipstick is not the only thing you see when you look at my face wearing this. I also own Revlon Colorburst in Rose Nude and it is very similar in color, although applies more evenly and moisturizes lips more. It is a neutral pink with very minimal shimmer or shine. It feels very moisturizing on your lips. It does not last as long as a matte lipstick, but lasts longer than more cream lipsticks. I reapply after eating or drinking. I will purchase this after running out. It is great! Update: Still wearing this everyday. I feel like it is a great neutral that you can wear with warm tones or cool tones. Love it! I try to match my blush w/ my lipstick, and this goes well with ALL my blushes!

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Eye Shadow in Camel
rated 3 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/16/2011 8:23:00 PM

This is a good quality product, but it seemed to be rather orange on my lids. I used it as a crease shade and as a lid shade. It was not very flattering on my skin tone.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 5 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/9/2011 12:25:00 PM

I swapped for this in Black. I love it! My eyes do not feel irritated, they are full and long. This washes off cleanly (better than Maybelline Full & Soft). It does not flake and lasts all day with no racoon eyes! I wore it all day, and then laid down for a bit with my son as he was falling asleep. Usually, I have racoon eyes after that (although it doesn't matter much because I am getting ready to remove makeup anyway). I was pleasantly surprised to find that it did not flake even after laying down with my son! Great product. I don't think that it is terribly expensive either at $14.50 USD.

Blush -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Blush - Soft Rose
rated 4 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/5/2011 4:10:00 PM

This is a beautiful rose color. I got it to go with my cooler-toned lipsticks. It shows up well on my skin, but doesn't appear clown-like. There is not any visible shimmer, but I would not call it matte. The packaging is very odd. You have a kabuki brush attached to the top, and then a sifter over the loose powder blush. You are first supposed to remove the lid, then unscrew the top, and then swirl the brush into the sifter portion. Just seems cumbersome to me! I would prefer a sifter similar to BE. That being said, the brush that comes with the blush is nice especially for a drugstore-brand. The blush applies evenly with it. Most of the time, the included brush is worthless, but not in this case. I will repurchase this blush because I really like the color and look on my cheeks.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer wash eyeshadow in Champagne
rated 4 of 5
MackMimiMommy 2/3/2011 12:13:00 PM

I went to Nordstrom and the SA used this as an all-over color with Hot Stone as a crease color. It is wonderful! He wetted an eyeliner brush and used Hot Stone as an eyeliner, also. It is a beautiful, and economical, alternative to regular eyelining methods! I have used it repeatedly and will continue to do so in the future!
