Moisturizers -H20 - Marine Calm Hydrating Face Complex
MacPops 3/17/2013 12:24:00 AM
This product is lightweight and perfect for my skin in the warmer months. My skin is normal/dry in winter and normal/oily in spring an summer. This doesn't irritate my sensitive skin and adds just the right amount of moisture. It sinks into the skin completely and doesn't sit on top like many products do.
Evidently, I have strange nails. No matter how hard I try to get this exactly right, all it does is peel after one day and take the top layer of my nails with it. It does not work for me whatsoever, and in fact, exacerbates the problem.
Moisturizers -Alpha Hydrox - Enhanced Lotion - 10% AHA

This stuff is so hit or miss. It basically eats my face off and even after using for a month, my skin just can't adjust to it. It either makes my skin look great or like an absolute mess of flakes. I used it on my neck at night and I got a bit sweaty before I woke up as the heat was on too high. I suffered a chemical burn. Mild as it was, it looked terrible and I wore a scarf around my neck until it dried up and sloughed off. Needless to say, if this stuff works for you, great. It doesn't work for me. I'll use it on my feet or something. I'll stick to my Somme Institute A-Bomb. Yes, it's expensive, but you usually get what you pay for. Not always (la Mer), but usually.
At first, I liked this concealer. Now I don't. While it is quite pigmented, there is something about the texture that is off. It's hard to work with and just a lot of trouble, honestly. I won't repurchase and I'm already looking for something to take its place long before i run out. I don't have the time each day to fight with my concealer.
Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Plum Lip Treatment SPF 15

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this. It's one of the few cosmetic products that I've used nearly to completion. I will be repurchasing. I'm a fair-skinned brunette and this color makes my lips look really sexy and natural. The formula feels fabulous. It has lasted over a year with frequent use (several times a week). I probably would have run out within about 8 or 9 months if I hadn't been staying at home with children the past 6 months. No matter which bag I'm carrying while out, I must have this with me. Love it.
I love this color!!! Makes my nails look so neat and clean. Also, the fact that I'm not a professional manicurist doesn't show a bit. Love it, love it!! I have the gold one too. Not as complimentary of my skin tone. This silver is a keeper for sure!
This stuff is crazy. Crazy in that it's so heavy, yet it actually sinks into my skin. Because we have natural gas heat in our home, and because I have a bad habit of going running without proper protection on my face, my skin is sometimes terribly flaky. I've started a regimen of boots microderm scrub, Somme institute a-bomb and this (with progenetin). It is a quick-fix that makes it look like I never had any flakes. I don't use it every night and that is probably why I got the flakies in the first place. I purchased because of the reviews here and am glad I did. I have La Mer and Nivea (still convinced they are one in the same) and not only do they multiply the flakies, but have started giving me huge, painful zits. I'll stick with this as it does exactly what I need it to. It only takes a bit and it is a great value. It does have a curious smell, but it has grown on me. Surprised my sensitive skin hasn't rebelled,
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible Eye Shadow - Golden Emerald

I'm an eyeshadow snob and have always been disappointed with DS eye shadow purchases. Even a lot of high end shadows are completely unimpressive. I relented and purchased base on the review at temptalia and because I'm on a budget, but wanted something pretty. This is a great investment for me. I have dark eyes, dark hair, and fair skin. This looks fabulous. As I can easily wear dark colors, I will even wear for daytime. I like the formula. Yes, there is a bit of fallout when applying, but the payoff is so worth it. In fact. the fallout brushed away readily with a soft powder brush. Gorgeous. My husband loves me in green eyeshadow and the UD one I had was too garish for every day. Not this. I'm in love.
This is the strangest mascara. It does nothing for my upper lashes at all. It does not build up enough to make my long, yet light-colored lashes show up. However, I like the mascara on my lower lashes. It makes my lower lashes look nicely feathered and darkened. I prefer L'oreal million lashes false fiber waterproof for my upper lashes, but hate it for my lowers.
Primer/ Corrector -Revlon - PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer (color 002)
MacPops 12/23/2012 1:27:00 AM
Overall, I really like this product. I'm still looking for my HG primer, but this is a good one to have in the meantime. It blurs the uneven look of my skin. I have a bit of redness as well as a couple of dark areas from sun damage. My skin is combination, but a bit more dry in the winter. My skin stayed matte with this. It's not slippery like most primers. I'd buy it again for sure. I have fair/light skin and felt that this added just a hint of brightness to my complexion. I feel like I look a bit younger with this on. EDITED: I revised this down a notch. When it goes right, it is really good; and when it goes wrong.....eeeewwww. This stuff has sticking power and since I use tarte Amazonian clay full coverage foundation, which also has sticking power....sometimes it looks perfect. Sometimes it looks awful! I don't know what I'm doing wrong on the bad days. Just don't know...
Misc Beauty Tools -Japonesque - Go Curl Eyelash Curler
MacPops 12/21/2012 2:45:00 PM
I purchased this curler because of the reviews here and, boy howdy, am I sorry I did. I'm not sure exactly who this thing is designed for. My lashes have length, but no curl. I have been using the regular metal curler by tweezerman. It pinches, but curls. This contraption put a 360 degree crimp such that my lashes were directed backward. And I lost several lashes in the process. Horrible. I should have invested more wisely.
Skincare - Body -Avon - SKIN SO SOFT Perfecting Oil
MacPops 12/17/2012 8:04:00 PM
While I agree that this product is overpriced in terms of the price per ounce, the quality is very good. I've only tried a couple of other skin oils, but this one actually helps keep my keratosis pilaris under control. I don't use it every day unless the weather is really cold for several days in a stretch. I've purchased this product several times since receiving it in a gift. Will keep buying it unless I run across an oil that I like just as well that is also a better value.
Shampoo -Wen by Chaz Dean - Fall Ginger Pumpkin (seasonal scent)
MacPops 12/5/2012 10:48:00 PM
I knew it...I just knew it. I knew that if I continued to watch the most over-exposed product on QVC, I would give in and buy in. Actually, it was the reviews of customers on the QVC website. I'm wondering if some of the people who like this have been hypnotized. I can only imagine it working for someone who has dry hair, which also lacks natural luster. I wanted to like it. I really did. I gave it multiple tries, thinking each time that it must just be me. It must be my fault that my hair looked more dull, flat, and just plain icky. If you have hair that isn't particularly thick, is naturally oily, and salon-glossed, skip this. You will not be impressed one bit. I edited this DOWN a notch. It's still sitting in my shower and I used it yesterday after my run because I wouldn't be going out afterward. My scalp itched until I took a shower today. This stuff is just not for me, period. I wish I could convince my husband to use it, but he refuses. Lol!
The hype is just hype. Little to back it up. So thick and not in a good way. Doesn't hold a curl worth a darn. On the plus side, it's rich black and seems as though it would be conditioning.
I am reviewing a sample size I received in a gift with purchase from beauty.com. I love this stuff. I was shocked when I opened the tube and saw that it was tinted because I have fair skin and most tinted products look like sludge on my skin. Not to shy away from trying something new, I gave it a shot. The color evened out my skintone without looking muddy at all! I normally wear 'light' in Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation. I am a true neutral beige. I am not the fairest of skin tones, but not medium-toned either. This made my skin look great. I haven't worn it under foundation yet, but did wear it when out jogging. It evened out the look of my skin and didn't feel heavy at all. Very lightweight and I am going to try it under foundation soon. The texture reminds me of a high-end primer. Very high-quality product and I will likely purchase it as I've become quite the stickler for sunscreen and this looks so great on.
