Treatments -Clinique - Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle and UV Damage Corrector
MM43 9/1/2012 7:32:00 PM
This is a good serum for repairing the skin. And it subtly firms and refines my pores. As with any product, it will not erase wrinkles, but it will help prevent them. I continue to use this in tandem with Kinerase C8 Peptide; applying Kinerase in the morning and Clinique Repairwear Laser-Focus at night before bed. For reference, my skin is normal/dry with fine expression lines.

Hair -Nioxin - Thinning Hair System 3
MM43 12/30/2011 5:34:00 PM
I have always had long, fine hair and lots of it. But over the past year lost a significant amount of hair due to a protein deficiency and now that it is growing back I wanted to give it the best chance by using Nioxin. I washed and conditioned then used the scalp treatment...and within an hour washed it all out because it was so toxic to me. First of all, the shampoo and conditioner has a minty chemical smell that is offensive and the scalp treatment smells like minty vitamin B. The smell alone was disgusting and I felt an almost allergic reaction to the products. It just didn't seem right. I believe this works for some people, but I would not recommend it if you are sensitive to chemicals or fragrances.

Self Tanners -Lancome - Flash Bronzer Tinted Leg Gel
MM43 7/4/2010 12:41:00 PM
Having tried a multitude of self tanning products over the years, I can say with confidence that this one is quite good. My legs are resistant to self tanners, but this one actually works. It has a smooth silky texture that is easy to apply, a subtle bronze shimmer, a mild floral fragrance, does not streak, and provides an even tan. The best part is that a few hours after application it does not smell nearly as bad as other self tanners...but it does still stink. The color is really the only thing I would change, as it is ever so slightly orange. For some skin tones this will not work, but for my yellow/gold tone it is fine. Bottom line, in the world of stinky, ineffective self tanners, this is a good product.

Treatments (Eye) -Clarins - Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate
MM43 7/4/2010 12:19:00 PM
After reading other positive reviews, I was surprised this didn't provide any noticeable results for me. For reference, I am 39 with good skin, yet I have somewhat thin skin around the eyes that has a tendency toward being crepey with fine lines when smiling. While the texture of this eye cream is nice, it did not do anything outside of lightly moisturizing. I found it no better than some drug store brands, such as Loreal Skin Genesis eye cream. So, while this feels nice, has no irritating fragrance, and comes in a quality package, it didn't provide any benefits that would justify the price.

Lotions/ Creams -Better Botanicals - Kokum Butter Body Balm
MM43 6/5/2010 11:45:00 PM
While I have a sensitive sense of smell and tend to prefer unscented products for the body and face, this body balm really grew on me. Out of the millions of body lotions I have tried, this one truly conditions the skin and eliminates the crepey appearance...no other product seemed to do that as well. It slowly soaks into the skin without leaving a greasy or sticky residue. What I like is that the ingredients are totally natural and there is no chemical fragrance. Almost all department and drugstore lotions smell offensively fake or the natural ones, just plain strange. And while the fragrance is initially strong, it soon fades leaving the skin with a very subtle, pretty fragrance. In the end, this leaves my skin beautifully conditioned and smelling nice.

Loose Powders -La Mer - Skincolor De La Mer - The Powder - Poudre de La Mer
MM43 6/2/2010 3:42:00 PM
For years I used Lancome Dual Finish in Matte Amande III, but recently switched to La Mer The Powder in Neutral. What's funny and may have been a coincidence, is that the first day I wore this powder a woman stopped me in the parking lot of Whole Foods and said that I have very beautiful skin. Wow, this stuff is good! But really, I believe that if the color is complimentary to your skin tone it will have a lovely effect. Neutral is a light, somewhat peach tone and thus, very flattering. The Powder has such a light, natural finish and does not provide very much coverage. What is does do is give a light, beautiful, ethereal finish. I should add that I use this over the La Mer SPF 18 Fluid Tint in Medium, which is another great product. While I don't buy into the marketing claims of La Mer creams and lotions, I am very impressed with the quality of their cosmetics.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
MM43 6/2/2010 3:23:00 PM
This mascara didn't work for me at all. For reference, I have fine, straight, medium length lashes. Grow Luscious mascara was a bit clumpy and fake looking, made my lashes lose their curl upon applying it, and flaked a bit as the day went on. In addition, the wand is huge, making it awkward to apply. With all the different mascaras out there, I wouldn't bother with this. In the past, I really liked Max Factor 2000 Calorie mascara and L'Oreal Waterproof Lash Architect...both provided a smooth thicker lash and held the curl.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Eau De Parfum
MM43 5/17/2009 12:41:00 PM
It is impossible for our reviews to help someone decide whether or not to buy this perfume, as everone's sense of smell and skin chemistry is different. But for me, this is a pretty scent for sunny weather. It's a young, fresh, gardenia. I should add, that when I wear this I spray it once into the air and step into it, creating a subtle pretty scent. Gardenia fragrances tend to be sweet, so go light on this and you may like it.

Self Tanners -Fake Bake - Self-Tanning Lotion
MM43 5/15/2009 11:58:00 AM
Hello "JoAiden" - I just had the same GREEN experience last night. I applied Fake Bake only to my legs and then looked as if I had the legs of the Jolly Green Giant. I was mortified! But today I contacted the manufacturer and was told, based on the code on the bottle, that the product was expired. So, I wouldn't cancel out Fake Bake just yet. Rather, go out and purchase a bottle directly from Fake Bake to be assured a fresh product...that won't make you look like the incredible Hulk! I will do this and post a new review.

Lotions/ Creams -Nude Skincare - Moisturising Body Cream
MM43 3/13/2009 11:47:00 PM
I was in Whole Foods looking at lotions and tested this out on my hands...and my God, the scent was so overpowering! Just as the other reviewer, I found the smell of this to be so strong and unpleasant that I had to stop what I was doing and find the restroom so I could wash my hands. I cannot fathom anyone using this as a body lotion. And the price ($48) is ridiculous, even if it does happen to moisturise well.

Treatments (Eye) -Burt's Bees - Repair Serum with Attar of Rose
MM43 10/5/2008 2:23:00 PM
I must be the only person on earth who doesn't like the smell of lavender and that's the only reason I did not like this product. Aside from the strong smell, the serum is fine. It has good ingredients, feels nice on the skin, really sinks in, and makes your skin soft. However, it did not do anything for fine lines in the short time I used it; 7 days to be exact. In short, it is a nice moisturiser, but the overwhelming smell is a deal breaker.

Treatments -Clarins - Younger Longer Balm
MM43 5/2/2008 3:27:00 PM
I'm on the fence about this product. I have only used it twice so far at bedtime. While it did seem to moisturize and my skin felt nice the next morning, it also does with almost any nighttime skin cream/lotion. I also found the fragrance to be a bit strong. For similar skin benefits, I may prefer to use Estee Lauder Night Repair which is also expensive, but with a less strong smell and a more straight forward delivery. But before I return it, I'm going to use it a few more times and if anything changes, I'll update this review.

Moisturizers -Clarins - Multi Active Night Cream
MM43 5/2/2008 3:10:00 PM
While I cannot say that this did anything bad to my skin, it just didn't do anything good either. It has a nice texture, but doesn't seem to sink in and do any good. And the smell is so strong, too strong! I am returning this today. I feel there are comparable creams, if not better, available out there for less. For example, Caudalie Vinosource Ant-Wrinkle Nourishing Cream...which I will return to using.

Lip Treatments -Sally Hansen - 18 Hour Lip Treatment
MM43 3/21/2008 2:42:00 AM
I have this in Clear Raisin and while I own several lip glosses in various colors/brands, I keep reaching for this time and time again. In fact, I'm on my fifth tube. What's great about 18 Hour Lip Treatment is that it moisturizes better than other glosses and I find my lips soft long after the color has worn off; the scent (like oranges) and taste is mild; the texture is not too sticky. It's a perfect gloss for everyday wear. Simply put, it's a great gloss that does what it should and does it well.

Foundations -La Mer - the SPF Fluid Tint
MM43 3/20/2008 10:38:00 PM
I love this tinted moisturizer. Nothing else has complimented my skin tone so perfectly and made my complexion look as radiant. For reference, I have combination skin that leans toward dry these days and is quite even toned with a few fine lines. For years I had used Lancome Dual Finish powder makeup in Matte Amande III and when tan, Matte Honey III, but when my skin changed and became more dry I switched to the La Mer Fluid Tint in Medium. It imparts very natural looking light coverage with a dewy finish. In areas where I want more coverage or a more matte look, such as my nose and chin, I dust a little Lancome Dual Finish on with a brush. In the end, this leaves me with the appearance of naturally flawless, radiant skin. What more could I ask for?!
