Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme
Lyra12 5/12/2012 12:08:00 AM
My first time purchasing Nivea Crème was back in high school. I remember not liking it. I didn’t feel it doing anything for my skin, too greasy, and overall useless. Little did I know that the one I purchased long ago was of a different mixture than the original one which is highly praised. The one I purchased was the one made in Mexico. I’ve only just learned about the one made in Germany, heard it’s far superior. So, I decided to give it another go, this time purchasing the German made crème. Here is what I’ve noticed: After a few short days of applying it to my face, the zits went away and my face has a sort of softness to it. My makeup also looks better. This does not make my face greasy, as a matter of fact when it absorbs, it really absorbs well. It also sort of lightens the skin on application and even after it has fully absorbed my complexion is overall brighter and rosier. Just an overall brighter, pinky complexion. It also has not broken me out, so that’s a major plus! This is the only moisturizer that keeps my feet moisturized and cute! Yes, I said cute! Normally, my feet are extremely dry down to my toes and no matter what I use (and I’ve used A LOT of different things) the dryness and ashyness comes back by the end of the day and my toe nails are brittle because they can’t seem to retain moisture. The Nivea crème has worked wonders on my feet. They remain moisturized throughout the day and even into the next day, and my toe nails look healthier and always moisturized. On the arms and legs: If you’re going bare legged, this gives your legs a great glow, almost making them appear perfect. You know how a Barbie doll's legs has that glowy perfect shine look? Like that. Same for the arms, if you’re going sleeveless. For the hands? Not so sure it’s doing a great job. My hands have been wrinkly lately. I heard it would take a couple of uses before it heals the hands, so the verdict is still out on that. Overall, I love it for the other things I’ve mentioned. It’s great for the face, feet, legs and arms. Highly recommend you purchasing the German made version if you can get your hands on it. Not too crazy about the Mexico made version.

Mascara -E.L.F. - Studio Mineral Infused Mascara

AMAZING mascara!!! Doesn't clump, separates lashes effectively, and does a great job at lengthening. I've used so many mascaras, from the expensive to the inexpensive and nothing compares to E.L.F.'s Mineral Infused Mascara. It makes my lashes look almost false in that it gives them am almost perfect look. HG mascara for me!

Lotions/ Creams -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Lotion
Lyra12 2/8/2012 9:21:00 AM
I began using this regularly a week ago. Initially, I used it solely for my body, then one day I thought, "It's so light, non-greasy, and makes my skin soft. Could I use this for my face?" I didn't think too much about it before putting some on my face the night before. I woke up the next morning with softer skin. So I decided to substitute this for my Olay Complete Moisturizer, just for that day to see how it would work out. Wow. Just wow! It made my make-up look 10x better! My skin looks so soft and my makeup looks flawless against softer skin! It's also good at controlling oily skin, as my face tends to get very oily throughout the day if I don't use my Olay Complete. Luckly, Johnson's baby lotion fights oily skin as well (though not as well but a small price to pay). As for using it as an all over moisturizer, I love the glowy sheen it leaves and how soft it makes my skin. Thus far, this is my favorite moisturizer.

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
Lyra12 10/7/2011 9:12:00 AM
I've never used a primer before in my life but have always heard about how important it is to wear one. When I began hearing about Monistat Chafing Powder Gel from Youtube users I decided to give it a try. O.M.G. Firstly, you can't even feel it on your face, and it leaves your face feeling amazingly soft and looking smooth with just the primer alone. Second, I use to not be able to wear MAC foundations because I'm one of those that breakout using MAC, but I'm able to wear MAC so as long as I prime with this first. Third, my makeup looks AMAZING! It makes everything POP and look fresh ALL day! Fourth, my makeup stays on all day. I was crying the other day and after the aftermath my sister said she had no idea that I was even crying because my makeup looked untouched. BINGO! I think darker skinned people especially should wear primer because it makes the makeup pop more, in a good way. BTW, it doesn't make my makeup look heavy or cakey. In fact it gives it a more natural look. I wish I could stock up on this stuff. I'm now afraid to run out. And it has not caused any breakouts. But everyone is different so if it doesn't cause you to break out, keep at it. If it does, I'm sorry for you, because this is a great product as a makeup primer.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - DuDu Osun African Black Soap
Lyra12 2/21/2011 1:16:00 PM
If you have acne, this will clear up and brighten your skin as well as aid in giving you an even skin tone. But do not use this on your face more than twice a day for it is VERY drying and can start to cause irritation. The soap is very strong which is why it is a great cleansing bar. But because it can be very drying it is best to use a really good moisturizer directly afterwards. I use coconut oil instead of shea butter to counter the dryness. I have been using this soap for about 4 months now and one bar of soap will last you a very long time using it everyday. It will last about a month whereas most other soaps last about a week or two. So you get more for your buck. I should also add that it shrinks pores. EDIT: 9 months into using this and I still love it! My younger sister, who has been having skin problems, finally purchased it. I told her about the soap the first month I began using it and she sort of ignored me and kept doing her own thing. Now she confessed to me that she would be staring at my face because of how flawless it looks and trying to figure out what it was that I was using. Now she uses the soap, even ordered 6 bars at a time. I'm so in love with this soap, it's the only one I use and I never plan on using anything else. I also order 6 at a time so when I nearly ran out I couldn't wait for my next batch to come in because there was NO WAY that I was going to use any other kind of soap.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
Lyra12 2/21/2011 12:52:00 PM
The only moisturizer I use. I'm always on the hunt for the healthiest and most effective moisturizer for my body. Healthy, glowing skin is my beauty secret and so I'm always striving to have the best skin I can possibly achieve. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is the only moisturizer I've come across that has given me a glowy, even skin-tone, supple skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines. I put this on my face as well and it does not break me out. I think it has to do with what type you purchase. Make sure it is Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Unrefined, Organic and cold-pressed. I use this at night and it absorbs surprisingly fast! Your makeup will also look phenomenal on top of it (after it has absorbed completely into your skin). I plan on using this for the rest of my life and nothing else! I'm just glad I discovered it while in my twenties with barely any signs of wrinkles, this way I'm preventing it and not fighting it. EDIT: After using it for a few weeks it began to break me out on my chest and I NEVER break out let alone on my CHEST! I had to stop using it, the bumps were so painful just my shirt rubbing against my skin hurt. If it doesn't break you out, use it. It's still a great moisturizer just not for everyone :-(

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass in clear
Lyra12 2/21/2011 12:13:00 PM
A little goes a long way. You can pretty much make any kind of lipglass with this using any brand of lipliner. The clear lipglass gives the same moisturizing effect as a MAC tinted lipglass, all you have to do is add a bit of your own color, which is what I do. Now, the product itself is a bit sticky, but it helps the product to last a long time on your lips as well as giving your lips superior moisture throughout the day. I love the stuff, it's really helps in conditioning your lips especially if your someone who is prone to having dry cracked lips like myself. But remember, a little goes a LONG way! Use it sparingly, don't glob it on!

Fragrances -Coty - Vanilla Fields (parfum)
Lyra12 12/28/2010 1:51:00 AM
I use to wear this when I was in high school and always received compliments on how nice I smelled from both men and women. People would always say "You always smells so nice!". I even had a guy follow me around the library for 5 whole minutes before coming up to me and confessing that he had been following me because I smelled so good. One of my friends who loved the smell on me went and purchased it for herself and complained that it smelled horrible on her but so good on me. I figured it had a lot of do with body chemistry and just wasn't working for her. I've had other more expensive perfumes but never have I received compliments as when I use to wear Vanilla Fields. I'm going to purchase it again years later since it's the only one that gets people's attention.
