Eyeliner -MAC - Powersurge Eye Kohl
LydiaGonzales 2/19/2013 3:32:00 PM
Wow, I just picked up Powersurge this weekend and already it is my new everyday favorite eyeliner! It's a beautiful antique gold color, very subtle, but where some others say it doesn't show up on them, on me it just makes my eyes POP. Yes, ask a man if I'm wearing eyeliner and he would probably say NO, but to me that's exactly the magic of this shade: unless you get up close you might not see it, but it actually makes a big difference in my appearance! Like a MLBB shade for your eyes. My theory is that it's just making my eyelashes look fuller without looking like a liner, which is why it makes my eyes pop so much. For reference: I'm pale (NW 15/20) with yellow undertones and very dark brown hair and eyes and usually my favorite eye color it an olive green for a subtle smouldery look. After admiring amazing gold liner on my dance teacher I tried using Gaelic Gold (MAC) from the 2011 winter eye palette to get a similar effect, but wanted a pencil for easier use. I'm so pleased that I found Powersurge, it's just what I wanted! I usually don't like the MAC Kohls because they don't last and smudge like crazy on me, but this one stays put just great.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
LydiaGonzales 7/12/2012 2:02:00 PM
Holy Amazingness!! I can't believe what a difference this brush makes to my application of mineral foundation (I use Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Powder). I've been using my Bare Escentuals brush all this time and it's constantly shedding and the make-up just kinda sits on my face. I used this brush and the make-up DISAPPEARED into my face! Not in a bad way - like another reviewer said: it's almost like my face was airbrushed. All my flaws were covered (well, as many as humanly possible with make-up), but I didn't look like I was wearing anything. Beautiful! And the brush feels so nice and soft and no shedding at all. For 3 dollars you owe it to yourself to try this brush. Seriously.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam
LydiaGonzales 2/28/2012 2:48:00 PM
I agree with the reviewer who said that this Lip Butter is a really close dupe of Wet n' Wild's lipliner 666. So if you liked that, then definitely try this Lip Butter. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about then I would describe this color as a sheer warm brown-red. It looks absolutely terrifying in the tube - I had read the reviews and gone to the store to check it out and despite being warned about how it looks in the tube I still chickened out the first time and got Peach Parfait and Pink Truffle instead. Those were so boring on me, though, that I exchanged them for Fig Jam and Tutti Frutti instead and am so happy I did! I also think that Fig Jam is similar to MAC's LE Back to Del Rio from a couple of years back. The texture is not quite as buttery as I'd hoped - I was thinking more along the lines of MAC's Lustres, but these are definitely more waxy than that. But that does give them a little more staying power, so I suppose that's the payoff. A little pricey for a drugstore lipstick and I find the packaging, while cute, to be really annoyingly hard to open, so a lippie off for those things. Overall a really pretty color and a decent lipstick that I'll probably repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Thoroughly Therapeutic Foot Creme, Honey and Bilberry
LydiaGonzales 7/7/2009 3:40:00 PM
Wow, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this foot cream yet - I'm well into my second tube of this stuff and I'm still loving it. As the other reviewer said it has a nice honey-y scent, which I love, and the texture is great IMHO. It's not too thick, so it's easy to spread, but when it sinks in (which happens pretty quickly - not sticky or greasy feet here) it leaves your feet feeling nice and soft and moisturized. Yay! I have Neutrogena's cracked heel foot cream, which is way thicker and claims to be super-moisturizing and this stuff beats the Neutrogena hands down for moisture, texture, scent - everything! My HG footcream so far (though, admittedly, I'm still on the quest to find my ultimate HG footcream. But until that comes along, this will fit the bill nicely).

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Moisturizing Lotion
LydiaGonzales 7/7/2009 3:28:00 PM
Well, I don't totally hate this product, but I don't love it either. The texture is nice, I like how my skin feels when I use it, but the scent is only so-so (but that's just personal preference, I think) and the thing that bugs me the most are the friggin sparkles! Enough already! They call it: "natural light diffusers" - heh! I look like I dusted myself with sparkle powder with this stuff and personally I'm just not into that disco look for my daytime skin...so even though the cream itself is fine, this will not be repurchased. I much prefer Aveeno's Cream Oil, even if it is hard to find - smells good, feels good, looks good.

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk in Brown Black
LydiaGonzales 3/19/2009 6:43:00 PM
The only reason I'm not giving this product 5 stars is because I've only used it once so far, and I still need to see how my hair responds to this color when I've been using it for a longer period of time. So far, though: AWESOME! I have naturally dark brown hair, that I've been dying a dark coppery auburn for some time - recently I was sick of the red and went to my stylist to go brown again. He did a great job and I loved the new darker me. However, I can't afford to go to my stylist for colorings right now and the red was starting to show through a bit again, so I read the reviews and bought this color. I loved it right off: darker than my natural color, but not goth black. And it looked so even and shiny! Then I saw my stylist recently and asked him for his honest opinion: three thumbs up, baby! He agreed that my hair looked perfectly even and was in great shape and that the color rocked! Woohoo - all that for $ 4! I'm so in love with my hair right now!

Blush -MAC - breezy
LydiaGonzales 12/5/2007 4:37:00 PM
I'm in LOVE! I just dyed my hair from natural really dark brown to a darkish red/auburn and of course most of my old makeup just looks wrong now. So I went in to MAC looking for a new blush and the MA suggested Breezy - yes, it looked a little dark, but when she put it on it was GORGEOUS! I've had it for a week now and i can't get over how much this looks like my natural blushing color on me - it's just perfect. I'm pretty pale, so I have to be really careful blending this as it can come on too strong, but with care and a light hand it looks perfect. Don't be scared: try this out and you won't regret it!

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Pleasing
LydiaGonzales 10/22/2007 1:51:00 PM
PERFECT! That pretty much sums it up! lol... but seriously, this color is gorgeous: on me it is the perfect darkish rosy pink, that makes my lips look lush and pretty, not small and hard (like some darker colors do). I agree with the other reviewer that is gives almost as much moitsture as lipbalm, which I just love as I am a total lipbalm junkie! This lipstick has just enough shine and pigment and moisture and staying power PLUS totally hot packaging - I have to go back to my initial statement: PERFECT!

Highlighters -Bare Escentuals - Natural Light
LydiaGonzales 10/20/2007 2:28:00 AM
OMG - LOVE this stuff! I just got this a little over a week ago and I've worn it every day since - it's that good! I really love the peachy side that seriously helps to diminish the look of my undereye circles - even though I'm really pale this color does not seem to show up as a 'color' regardless of how much I apply - my eyes just look better! The lighter side is similarly fabulous at making everything look perkier - I use it on any combination of the following: my browbones, cheekbones, cupids bow, and nose creases. I feel that when I apply both products in the Natural Light pot I just look more rested and smooth overall - kinda like a soft focus has been put on me: YAY!!!!! And the packaging: DUDE, that's the best thing ever - the little holes that can be covered up and opened up as necessary? Genius! Can't praise it enough... :-) And for what your getting - a highlighter AND under-eye luminizer - $26 is a fair price IMHO.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Silk Rose
LydiaGonzales 10/20/2007 1:55:00 AM
This is an OK eyeshadow - it's really easy to end up looking as if you just cried or are very tired with this color, so careful application is key - but a GREAT blush. The color just comes out a wonderful pigmented rosey color that lasts much longer than most regular blushes - really a great find! The only thing I dislike is the packaging because the pot is kind of too small for use as a blush (which makes sense, as that isn't the intended use), but that won't stop me using it!

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Panthenol Protein Moisturizing Face Cream
LydiaGonzales 6/4/2007 5:08:00 PM
I got a couple of testers of this about six months back and initially hated it - way to thick and greasy, I thought. But then later I read some of the reviews here and decided to try it again but this time warming it in my hands first. MUCH better. Now I just take a very small amount of cream in my hands run them together for about a 30 sec and gently massage it into my face. When I use it that way it gives me the perfect level of moisturization without the greasyness or shinyness I experienced before. The texture is really nice when used this way - substantial, but not overwhelming. I use this as my night cream now and it really keeps me hydrated. I would say overall that this is a really good moisturizer, but I wish it was a little more active in fighting fine lines and wrinkles as well.

Lip Liners -MAC - Mac cremestick liner in gingerroot [DISCONTINUED]
LydiaGonzales 5/22/2007 6:53:00 PM
Just got this at the MAC counter today and I LOVE it already. I'm usually a Subculture girl and I love how this color is smilarly nude for my fairly pigmented lips, but has that slightly pearlescent sheen to it. It has stayed on pretty well since this morning too. Definitely YLBB!!

Lips -Revlon - Shiny Sheers - Sheer Afterglow 810
LydiaGonzales 4/17/2007 6:07:00 PM
OMG! LOVE this lipstick! Just bought it on a whim because I like MAC's Lustre lipsticks so much and this sounded kinda similar in concept. Of all the shades in the store this one looked the prettiest by far, so in my basket it went. Back at work I put it on right away and it looks GORGEOUS! Sheer, shiny and soft...mmmmm. My co-worker said it made me look like a bright-eyed teenager in love; all fresh and glowy!! Woohoo! This shade looks peachy-pink on me and is sheer enough not to be too obvious, yet has enough color to make a difference. I think I need a couple more of these to stash away in purses, car, etc. Great product!

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
LydiaGonzales 4/5/2007 7:07:00 PM
I know this lipbalm is WAY overpriced, the packaging is kinda annoying, the tube doesn't last all that long and I'm sure there are lots of ones out there that have a much better quality-to-price ratio, but I just don't care: this is my HG lipbalm! I love the way it smells, I love how long it lasts, I love the spf, I love how shiny it is - LOVE it all! When I wear this, I swear my lips just look better! Most days I just forgo lipgloss for this, as it doesn't have the sticky-factor and gives heaps of soft shine. I'm a complete lipbalm junkie and have tried pretty much everything out there (from Dr. Hauschka to Carmex, and beyond) and nothing really comes close to this. So despite the price I will keep repurchasing this.

Lip Treatments -John Masters - Lip Calm
LydiaGonzales 4/5/2007 6:56:00 PM
This is a great lipbalm! I LOVE the fact that when you read the ingredients list, you actually know what all the ingredients are - no weird chemical stuff at all! It has a great texture, a really pleasant smell, and makes my lips pleasantly shiny. I gave it 4 stars because it's still not as good as my HG lipbalm (Fresh's Sugar), but it's a really close runner up, and way more affordable too!
