Conditioner -Pantene - Repair and Protect conditioner
Lydia07 5/28/2013 4:13:00 PM
This review is for the bottle with the gold top called repair and protect which talks on the bottle about a dual-polymer complex and visibly erasing 6 months of damage. I like this product. Felt rich and made my hair look super shiny and feel soft and smooth. Seemed to stick my split ends together a bit too. It did seem to make my hair not hold a curl as good though. EDIT: I do think this made my hair seem a little dry in the long run. Especially after the second time I used it and it also weighed my hair down and made it flat

Sunscreen -Olay - Professional Pro-X Age Repair Lotion w/SPF 30
Lydia07 5/28/2013 4:04:00 PM
I bought this because I wanted a lotion with a sunscreen and I read this has niamicide (spelling?) which is supposed to increase collagen. Not crazy about this on my slightly oily skin. It never feels like it absorbs and makes me look greasy and feels kind of heavy on my skin which is not great during the humid summer months. I'm not sure if there are sunscreens that don't burn eyes but this is not one. It also makes my skin break out a little and get that bumpy look from blocked pores. That said, I do find that this does a good job of moisturizing and plumping up the skin. Thus, though I have not been using it much because of the above issues, when I do use it it makes the fine lines around my eyes look less noticeable. Would probably be a good product for those with dry skin.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Revitalift Miracle Blur
Lydia07 5/5/2013 9:10:00 PM
Don't expect any "miracles". This is a primer with sunscreen. Thats it. I sort of like the idea of having sunscreen in a primer but the result is that the primer is a little greasy and that doesn't work with my slightly oily skin. I also don't know with the small results of this that I am applying if the sunscreen really is doing anything at all. I tried it under a bb cream and it looked thick and awful but I guess thats cause that was like doubling up on primer. If you don't intend to wear a bb cream and have normal to slightly dry skin this might work for you.

Eye Shadow -FLOWER Beauty - Wild geranium
Lydia07 4/22/2013 8:56:00 PM
I thought this looked like a really natural and pretty shade for day but on my skin it just looks kind of sickly and pinker than in the pot. I also don't like how creamy it is. I find it hard to control when applying due to the extreme creaminess as it smears all around. I much prefer the maybelline and l'oreal versions to this.

BB Cream -FLOWER Beauty - BB Cream
Lydia07 4/22/2013 8:53:00 PM
I bought this and the Revlon bb cream at the same time and for my slightly oily skin this came out the winner. Its not a perfect product, but it is by far the longest lasting bb cream that I have tried and even lasts better than my foundation. Coverage is very good (a little too much, actually, for me as I like a sheer product). That said, I was able to apply it over a moisturizer and blend a small amount quickly and end up with a very nice result. I used the second lightest shade. Other than the thickness of the product my other gripes are that there is no spf (which I would like, as long as it didn't break me out) and that its NOT A PARABEN FREE PRODUCTt. That said, it blends into skin with the work mentioned above didn't oxidize on me (which is often a problem) and is long lasting so I plan on repurchasing. UPDATE: I am really loving this now. This product stays put and nice looking on my somewhat oily skin all day, which is incredible. Using small amounts has helped it blend into my skin and look really natural and I now appreciate the lack of sunscreen since the Revlon BB product has it and made me break out. Hope they never change this formula unless they find a way to remove the parabens.

BB Cream -Revlon - Photoready BB Cream SPF 30
Lydia07 4/22/2013 8:38:00 PM
This product blended right into my skin and looked very natural when I first applied it. It didn't cover a lot (still needed concealer) but I didn't expect or need it to. That said, I don't think this is a great product for skin on the oily side. The first time I tried it I applied it after my moisturizer and it had slid around and disappeared in a patchy way several hours later. The second time I tried it I applied it on bare skin. It lasted better this time but still was not long lasting and I got fairly oily with it. I do love the fact that it has good spf coverage though be careful because due to this it stings eyes if it gets into them. This is a better product than the Garnier bb cream that was hyped so much and that I hated. The color is a lot more natural and it even lasts longer than that. I would suggest this product for people with skin that is on the normal to dry side and doesn't require much coverage. EDIT: reduced it to a 2. It was making me break out and the Flower Brank bb cream is so much better for me.

Styling Products -L'Oreal - Every Style Texture Series Beach Spray
Lydia07 4/16/2013 5:18:00 PM
To be fair, I have yet to try a beach spray that makes my stick straight hair look any different than normal. This one didn't do much either. I followed the directions, scrunching and twisting using a diffuser to blow dry and ended up with....stick straight hair with a bit more fly-aways than normal, but also a little more shine than normal. I don't consider this a very good product for volume, my volumizing mousse gives much better volume. At least this one didn't make my hair look greasy. The smell is like the old discontinued John Frieda beach spray...coconuty. I gave this a 3 because of the shine and no grease factor and maybe it works on some other hair type.

Loose Powders -FLOWER Beauty - Powder Up! Loose Powder
Lydia07 4/8/2013 12:14:00 PM
As of last week the mislabeling had been corrected on the products that were on shelves in my Walmart. That said, I'm still not a huge fan of this product. Its a shame, because it feels so light and wonderful and I love the texture, but when applied the color looks somewhat uneven. I also notice it does a very poor job at controlling oil. By the end of the day my face was super shiny using this. This may be a decent product for people with dry skin, but I still like my NYC loose drugstore powder better. Wish I could combine the texture of this with the oil controling/lasting power of Coty. There is also very little product despite the big looking container.

Lipstick -FLOWER Beauty - LS2 Petal Kiss
Lydia07 3/10/2013 6:56:00 PM
Wow! I can't tell you how many lipsticks I have purchased in the past trying to find this color and none came close. I saw a model years ago in a magazine with a matte pink natural looking lip look that I liked. Bought a lot of pink lipsticks attempting to replicate the look and was not satisfied with any. Bought the one the magazine recommended which was Calvin Klein first kiss but it had too much of a purple tone to look like the photo or good on me. Finally, after giving up I purchase this and it is the lipstick I had been searching for all this time! It's hard for me to describe the color of this lipstick. It is not the same as the bottom of the tube, the bottom is a bit brighter and has more peach in it, though it is similar. Petal Kiss is a matte nude with t hints of mauve in certain lighting. I was worried because under walmart lights the mauve really stood out and I can't do purplish undertones, but at home and on my lips I see less of the mauve and more of a nude pink. It looks really natural and pretty on and is pigmented with a smooth, creamy texture. The cap stays on well too. Very flattering for a natural look or when I want to add more color to the eyes.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - EyeStudio Color Explosion Eyeshadow in Caffeine Rush
Lydia07 2/26/2013 9:32:00 PM
Not a bad product. More glitter than I would like though not as bad as it looks in the pan. Still, the top glittery shade was way too much for me. I agree with complaints about the size of the colors and also wish that the "medium" brown was more of a medium shade and less dark like the darkest brown shade. Pretty good quality. Some fallout. Wears well. Would be a 3 if it was a more expensive product but because it was not giving it a four.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Cashmere Glow

Nope, not a fan. Smells strong and artificial. There is a note in there that actually reminds me of the scent of flea bombs.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Pink Chiffon Body Lotion
Lydia07 2/24/2013 12:56:00 AM
This seems like a scent that would appeal to teenagers. Its really sweet. It reminds me of cotton candy with something flowery and a little bit of fruit. Not as simple as one of bath and bodywork's one note scents, but pretty artificial and immature smelling. I would have loved this when I was a teenager and I think teenage boys will probably find this appealing on a girl. If I was craving something sweet I might wear this at home or maybe on a vacation. There is no way I would wear this in a work place though and I think I would be embarrassed to wear this around people my age who didn't know me well. If more than one person in a group wears this or a similar scent I have a feeling it would be overpowering. I'm moving away from bath and body work lotions anyways, they have ingredients I don't feel great about rubbing all over my skin.

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
Lydia07 2/24/2013 12:21:00 AM
This product works pretty good but I don't think its great enough to justify the price. Its better than a regular sponge but I usually use a decent quality brush to apply my foundation and other than having to be careful not to leave brush marks on my face my brush works just as well, in my opinion. This sponge is maybe slightly better for making sure everything is blended, including concealer, and getting into the area around my nose but it has the drawback of absorbing some of my foundation, which I don't like and which is pricey. I do love the shape, texture and color (a bright coral one would be awesome) but it was stained by my foundation no matter how much I cleaned it after the first use. I also don't like the fact that I can smell the dye in this product when applying my foundation. Makes me wonder exactly what chemicals I'm rubbing on my face. It also takes me longer to apply my foundation using this so when I'm in a rush I don't grab it. I do think this product gives good results and it is really fun to use but I don't think the results are great enough (combined with it wasting foundation) to warrant dropping twenty dollars on this. Mine was a gift and I will use it but won't purchase another when it gets old.

Bronzers -Kevyn Aucoin - The Sculpting Powder
Lydia07 2/19/2013 4:43:00 PM
This product is super expensive. I plan on trying a cheaper version of a grey toned powder. That said, I do like it, so if I can't find a cheaper version I may continue to splurge on this once in awhile. It isn't some miracle product. There really is not a huge difference when I use this. That said, I do think it helps make my face look just a bit thinner though that could be wishful thinking. It blends well and has the right cast to mimic shadow. Just make sure your face is completely dry (no dampness from moisturizer) when applying or you will end up with a muddy mess.

Pressed Powders -Kevyn Aucoin - The Celestial Powder: Candlelight
Lydia07 2/19/2013 4:30:00 PM
Why does the best highlighter I ever found have to cost a fortune? I really really like this product. As I said, I only use it on my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose as highlighter but it acts exactly as the other reviewers and the name says. It gives a soft glowing sheen to skin. Nothing obvious at all or over shimmery. Im not a fan of the packaging. There is only a small amount of product and the rest of the room in the package is for the brush which is just one of those little brushes most blushes comes with. I can also picture the hinge breaking though not sure why. Still, the quality of the actual product is superb.
