Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - 8 Hr Infallible Le Gloss L'Oreal Lip Gloss Glistening Berry
rated 4 of 5
LovelyThistle 6/14/2013 1:25:00 PM

Another great moisturizing lip gloss. I like thick slightly sticky lip glosses, they last much longer and keep my lips softer. Glistening Berry is a nice shimmery cool berry shade. It does have some sparkle to it but not over the top, no huge chunks of glitter. I get a good 4 hours before I need to reapply. It leaves a nice stain behind and touching up does not make it clump or feel gritty. All around nice gloss. I have several shades and they all wear well and give about a medium pigmentation, which is good for a gloss. Anyone that wants a thin extra shiny lip gloss will probably not like Infallible 8 HR Le Glosses. They are thick but not as thick as MAC Lipglass but wear better and cost much less.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - ColorBurst lip gloss in Bordeaux
rated 4 of 5
LovelyThistle 5/24/2013 10:22:00 AM

Very nice non sticky lip gloss that gives a good amount of color and shine. For a drug store product this lip gloss has a fair amount of pigment. I would not go so far as to call it a liquid lip stick but the coverage for a gloss is medium to light if you thin it out. It wears well, even with drinking I get about 3 - 4 hours before I need to reapply. It wears off evenly and leaves a slight pink/rosy color on my lips, no dry flaky uneven patches like some glosses do. It is moist without being sticky or thick. All in all a nice lip gloss. The color is a strong wine/plum and the gloss is shiny but not wet looking. Well done, Revlon.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner in Dark Slate
rated 4 of 5
LovelyThistle 5/6/2013 1:07:00 PM

This is a good basic gray gel eyeliner. The pigment is fairly intense but since it is gray it is not overly dramatic. I use it for light makeup days. The texture is slightly dry, more so than the Espresso. I guess something in the different pigments affects the creaminess of the different shades. Otherwise it wears very well and does not flake or fade. The one thing I do notice is that it feels "thick" on the eyelid. Again it is only with the Dark Slate that I notice this. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a true gray liner. It wears very well and it is easy to apply for a gel/cream liner.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
LovelyThistle 5/6/2013 1:02:00 PM

I use gel/cream eyeliners almost everyday. MAC, L'Oreal, Stila, Clinique, etc. Mostly I choose them for color. I have found that most last well and apply the same although some are a tad drier texture, like Bobbi Brown's gel liner. I use the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel liner in charcoal. It is a bit drier like Bobbi Brown, not as creamy or slick as MAC Fluidline. I like the depth of color but it sometimes does take two strokes to get the level of pigment I like. It wears just as well for me as the more expensive brands. Like I said for me all the gel/cream liners are pretty much the same for me so I choose them mainly for the color choice rather than brand name. Maybelline's Charcoal is a cool shimmery charcoal with slight blue tones. The shimmer is quite noticeable on me but not flaky or glittery. It has a longer dry down time so it can be smudged or used as a shadow base for a smokey eye. All in all it is a pretty good liner and the color payoff is good but not super pigmented. A good buy to me.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blitz and Glitz
rated 5 of 5

I have used this for years as a alternative to black. It gives more definition than grey but not as harsh as black now that I am older and need something less stark. It wears well but I will say that there as been a lot of variation in the pots that I have used over the years. Sometimes they are smooth and creamy other times they have been dry and harder to apply. Overall I would recommend this for anyone wanting a dramatic eyeliner but not as dark as regular black.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips in Jessica
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 4/12/2013 11:04:00 AM

Another winner from BE Buxom Lips. This gloss is very iridescent. It reflects purple and copper on me. I love to layer this over dark lipstick to give it a moist shine. I wore it over black lipstick and it made it look like a deep dark purple. Not everyone's choice in lip color...but I am an old goth chick:) Alone it is sheer but does give my lips color with a lot of shine. This is a sticky gloss...so if you do not like to feel the gloss on your lips, you probably will not like it. I like the feel and the way it moisturizes my very dry lips. This lasts 3 to 4 hours if even if I drink...eating does make it wear off more but it wears evenly. This is a great color alone or over lip stick. It adds shine and moisture...what else can I ask for.

Lipstick -Bare Escentuals - Buxom lips full color in Carmen

I was so surprised by this gloss. It really is a very moisturizing full pigment lip color. Yes, it is glossy, but you can blot it and it is just a great non-drying lip color. I do use a colorless lip liner with it because of the gloss/moisture it can creep very slightly into the lines around the mouth. The color is very dusty deep plum on me...almost a dark iridescent lavender. I thought at first the color would not work on me, but I blotted it and that toned it down a bit. I do like a dark goth lip color but at my age...I have to be very careful not to end up looking too harsh. It wears very well, I can drink and eat and although it does wear away it leaves an even amount of color...none of that dreaded "ring around the mouth". If I use a straw to drink it barely wears away at all. I would recommend this lip gloss to anyone that does not mind a sticky gloss with incredible pigment and wear.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Lip Junkie
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 4/3/2013 4:39:00 PM

I love this gloss. It helps so much in my fight with dry lips. I have 4 different shades and I love them all. The texture of this gloss is sticky and thick. It has a really great high shine and the ones that have shimmer do not have that thick chunky glitter that some glosses have. It is just a nice shimmer or Iridescence depending on the shade you choose. All the shades are sheer. This is not a gloss that can replace lipstick if you want high pigmentation. But it does give the lips a nice noticeable color, just not a lot of pigment. This wears very well, I get 3 or 4 hours even with drinking a lot of water or soda. It won't hold up through eating anything greasy but most lip products do not anyway. It applies very nicely over lipstick since it is a squeeze tube and not a doe foot applicator. All in all I would say this is a great lip gloss as long as you do not mind the thick texture.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 4/3/2013 4:32:00 PM

I have used this when using accutane and as a eye cream when not on accutane. It is super gentle and really helps take the flaky dry patches away. No point in spending extra money on eye cream when this is as good as or better than most anyway. After using this for a week the fine lines were much less noticeable and overall my skin looked less red and irritated from the accutane. This does leave a slight moist feel to the skin that some people with less dry skin might find too sticky or shiny. So this really is best for dry to very dry skin.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Infallible Lip Gloss in Sangria
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 4/3/2013 4:24:00 PM

To begin with I need to say I really prefer a "sticky" lip gloss. I have very dry lips and the thicker lip glosses work better for me. I love MAC Lipglass and Urban Decay Lip Junkie which are both thick and sticky. To me this is a mildly sticky gloss. It is thick and can be more effort to apply. But it does stay for at least 3 hours even with me constantly drinking water or soda. The color is MLBB and has a nice subtle shine/shimmer. I feel like it makes my lips look fuller and I have no dryness or flakiness when I use this. I would recommend this to anyone that likes a thick moisturizing lip gloss that is not over the top glossy. There is not strange taste or smell either.

Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Baby Bee Multipurpose Ointment
rated 4 of 5
LovelyThistle 4/1/2013 12:43:00 PM

When it says "multi-purpose" it really is. This can replace anything you use Aquaphor or petroleum jelly for. The texture is a bit runny though and I think a squeeze tube would be better than the jar. But aside from that this is wonderful. It is a heavy moisturizer than can be used as a great conditioning night treatment. Like Aquaphor it leaves a slightly sticky sheen on the skin so I would not use this during the day except on the lips. I used this while on accutane and it soothed and softened my lips and patches of dry skin everywhere. The fragrance is very low and there is no taste when used on the lips. This is my new favorite go to product for dry scaly skin.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss
rated 3 of 5
LovelyThistle 3/22/2013 9:24:00 AM

My first impression of this is "wow". I expected the normal low pigment overly glittery lip gloss that drug stores usually have. But this is NOT that at all. This gloss is very plush and the pigment is great. It wear better than any normal lip gloss I have used. Generally I prefer a very bold deep lip color but because of some medication I am on my lips are extra dry and sensitive. This gloss makes them feel wonderfully moist and the color stays on even after the gloss wears away. I would rate this as good as my MAC or Urban Decay glosses. The shade "Plum Luster" is a lovely berry shade that give a lot of punch for a lip gloss. I will be buying more of these...such a great quality lip gloss at a drug store price...fantastic! Edit: had to change from a 5 star to 3 start. After using this for a couple of weeks I noticed my lips getting flaky and dry. Too bad, I really like this gloss but it is not moisturizing enough for me.

Powder -Neutrogena - Mineral Sheers Compact Foundation ALL
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 3/21/2013 9:16:00 AM

Another Neutrogena product I have used for years. I like this as a cheap alternative to Clinique's Almost Powder foundation. This is a nice light well blending powder that does not cake or creep into fine lines. It mattes the skin but never looks chalky. The only complaint I have is I hate the packaging. I prefer the traditional clam shell type. Otherwise this is a great light finishing powder for anyone with slightly dry to slightly oily skin. I would not use it as a foundation as the coverage is way to sheer. But it is a great powder with sunscreen which is very hard to find.

Tinted Moisturizer -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Enhancer SPF 20
rated 5 of 5
LovelyThistle 3/21/2013 9:09:00 AM

I have used this off and on for years. I love that is has retinol in it. I can tell a difference in my skin after using this for a week or so. I tend to use it as a moisturizer under a light coverage foundation and it works beautifully. I can use 10 or 20, the shades are so sheer that color matching is not a bit deal. This is a great tinted moisturizer and sunscreen combination for normal to slightly dry skin. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to fight the dreaded signs of aging with makeup:)

Tinted Moisturizer -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Glow Sheers SPF 30
rated 1 of 5
LovelyThistle 3/21/2013 9:05:00 AM

This product interested me because I wanted a tinted moisturizer that had antioxidants and sun protection. This did both but that is where the compliments stop. This is thick and hard to blend even though the coverage is very minimal. It also tends to crease. Any defects like large pores or dry areas will be emphasized because this has so much shine to it. You can literally see the sparkles in this. Maybe with someone with dry skin and NO pores this would work but not for m.
