Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Mariah Carey - 'M'
LorelaiNoah 7/15/2010 10:14:00 PM
I bought this with the matching lotion at TJ Maxx today for only $13. I had never sniffed it before, but read reviews here, & thought "$13 can't hurt too much, even if I end up hating it". With that being said; I do not regret this purchase. For starters I should point out that I love sweet scents. Pink Sugar is the creme de la creme in my world of fragrance favorites. I even buy custom blends of it. So when I opened M & spritzed it on, I was a initially disappointed that it wasn't a super foody sweet scent. In fact, it reminded me a lot of Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy. Which although is nice, I have a full bottle on my dresser that I rarely reach for. M is a very clean, powdery, feminine, slightly sweet scent. Within hours, this scent grew on me. Suddenly with a whiff, it reminded me specifically of one of my favorite places in the world. Home. It reminded me of rainy mornings in beautiful Flemington, New Jersey. (Forget what you see on trashy reality television, some parts of New Jersey are the nicest, most prestigious, in the country. Flemington is no exception.) Although P.S always brings me back memories of sippin' white mocha frappuccinos at my favorite vacation spot, nothing compares to the comfort level M brings me. Call me a sentimental nutball, but I will buy this fragrance for the rest of my life if it means no longer being homesick. ;) Closing comment - the lasting power is magnificent.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Prince Matchabelli- Cotton Candy Cologne Spray
LorelaiNoah 7/5/2010 12:58:00 PM
Mmmmm. Think Aquolina Pink Sugar, then subtract the lily note & add in strawberries. That is exactly what this Cotton Candy spray smells like. I picked up a mini version in the dollar aisle at Walmart (I HATE WALMART. But I had no choice, thanks to my roommate). I will definitely repurchase, the full size, from Walgreens in the near future. I prefer P.S but this stuff is PERFECT for spraying on clothes before I put them away. Or to just freshen up my bedroom.

Polishes -Revlon - Lilac Pastelle #185
LorelaiNoah 7/4/2010 11:34:00 PM
Revlon is my favorite cosmetic brand in the whole wide world. So, it sort of broke my heart when I realized this polish isn't up to par with my expectations/standards. I was so excited to finally find a light lilac nail polish! Such a seemingly simple task, yet so far from it. I snatched this up, and applied in the car. Wow...this doesn't dry any shade near the bottle. Instead it applies & dries as a nearly white, milky pink with a very slight lilac hue. I am dissapointed with the shade. The quality on the other hand, is just like a majority of the Revlon products - OUTSTANDING. It's equivalent to OPI in my book, & that's pretty dang good for a drugstore polish @ half price. The formula is smooth, quick drying, & lasts. I shall repurchase...but in a different shade. Just as a sidenote, if anyone else is also on a serious search to find the perfect lilac nail polish - OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender is it. HG in my book till the day I die. ;)

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Sweet as Candy
LorelaiNoah 7/4/2010 10:14:00 PM
I picked up this little gem after hearing non-stop positive comments about WnW on the MUA make up board. I figured it'd be a good "more natural" looking alternative to my HG eyeshadow quad (Revlon Berry Bloom) on days where I don't need to look made up. The trio contained a neutral toned brown/taupe, cool toned pink, & a slightly warm toned off white. As to why they would include a warm tone is beyond me. In fact, that is my only grip about this trio. A stark white or super light pink would have fit much better in the color scheme. However at $3, there is very little I should be complaining about. With that being said, I love this trio. It really brings out the blue in my green eyes without looking clownish. The shadows are extremely pigmented, last all day, & the texture is like butter. I am very impressed! I will repurchase.

Blush -Maybelline - Expert Wear Blush in Pinch O Pink
LorelaiNoah 7/4/2010 10:07:00 PM
I picked this up from Walgreens on a BOGO1/2, $4 full price. For reference, my skintone is NW05 (M.A.C code for nearly albino with pink undertones). My current HG blush, is Hard Candy's Living Doll. Did this blow Living Doll out of the water? Hell no. However I will give it 4 lippies, because it IS a beautiful blush. The shade is a cool toned light pink and it has SLIGHT shimmer. Not enough to be obvious, yet enough to give you a little glow. I would repurchase, seeing as the lasting power, quality, color, & price are above average.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
LorelaiNoah 7/4/2010 12:59:00 PM
*EDIT*: This foundation is now HG status. I figured out how to avoid getting cystic acne from using it. Use cold cream to remove & wash your face extra extra good, then use toner. Most people break out from Revlon Colorstay because the coverage is so heavy & the long lasting ingredients cause it to clog pores then stay put long enough to cause cystic acne. Adding cold cream to my skincare regime changed everything! This is the only foundation I've ever found that is light enough for my nearly albino skintone, offers full coverage, & lasts all day. I am heartbroken that it gives me cystic acne. :( If it weren't for that, Revlon Colorstay would be HG in my book. Regardless, I still use it. As long as no one can see the acne it gives me, who cares? A bit crazy, I know. Besides..even without it, I still have mild acne. Perhaps changing my skincare routine would help. Anyways, there's a few points I think should be covered. The formula for oily skin - SUCKS. Smells like paint, oxidizes, and seems much more cakey. On the otherhand, I have oily skin & much prefer the dry/normal version. (You'd never even know it was designed for dry/normal if it weren't for the packaging.) I will repurchase. If they ever reformulate and darken the shade, I will die. :( Here's a goofy pic for reference. Keep in mind I have really bad acne + scars. http://img.makeupalley.com/thumb.asp?sb=h&f=9_6_7_5_1681406.JPG

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
LorelaiNoah 7/3/2010 5:58:00 PM
Price: 3 lippies. I bought this for $12 at Ulta. Packaging Quality: 5 lippies. Comes with a pump, although I really don't mind jar packaging. Shade: I bought this in Ivory. This shade was the lightest, & still 2 shades too dark for me. To make matters worse it oxidized...orange. I am NW05 by the way, which is M.A.C code for nearly albino. Haha Coverage: Sheer to medium. Very buildable, never cakey, yet never full coverage. I have bad skin & needed full coverage. Shimmer: EVERYONE talks about how this foundation has glitter in it. However I never even noticed the slightest shimmer. If the talk of glitter is your only reason for not trying this foundation...take a risk. :) You won't look like a Cullen, in my experience. However I do believe its possible the glitter is a batch by batch basis. Not everyone PR is created equally. Overall Rating: 3 lippies. This ISN'T a horrible foundation. It didn't give me cystic acne like my beloved, almost HG, Revlon Colorstay does. The consistency and coverage aren't horrible, & it doesn't cling to imperfections. If you're NW10 & up, with average skin, I do believe this foundation could make you flawless! Unfortunately it just didn't work for me, & I will be returning it tomorrow. Would you buy this product again?: Obviously not.

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Conditioning Balm
LorelaiNoah 6/30/2010 4:56:00 AM
This product is very thick and moisturizing. I love using it as a mask and also for after using a protein treatment. It has revived moisture for my bleached brittle hair. I will repurchase.

Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - The Conditioner
LorelaiNoah 6/30/2010 4:53:00 AM
I bought a trial version of this and all I can say is "meh". Hence why my review is about to be short. This product wasn't thick enough to do much moisturizing, & it left my hair sticky...leading to breakage. Will not repurchase.

Treatments -Beyond The Zone - Last Call Hair Masque
LorelaiNoah 6/30/2010 4:50:00 AM
I bought a travel sized version of this from Sally's Beauty Supplies for $2. Cheap or not, the product is horrible. I was expecting it to be comparable to my beloved Neutrogena Triple Moisture Mask...at least. However my expectations fell way short when I left this in for an hour (to use as a masque), & my hair came out... dry? It was as if I used a moisturizing shampoo. To make matters worse, it smells like rancid cough syrup. I didn't really mind that at first, but now that I know how pathetic the results were I'm a little bit ticked. Bezond The Zone, you just permanently lost a customer.

Polishes -OPI - lucky lucky lavender
LorelaiNoah 6/27/2010 5:27:00 PM
This is the exact nail polish I reach for when I want to feel sexy, girly, feminine, vulnerable, like a goddess. It's HG status & nothing less. You'd think it be easy to find a true lilac nail polish, in my experience though, it's not. Most are too purple, too pink, too warm, too dark, too light, or too blue. Lucky Lucky Lavender is the PERFECT mix of purple & pink, creating the most beautiful lilac shade I have ever laid my eyes on. As to why it's classified as lavender is beyond me, seeing as lavender is a mix of purple/blue. OPI's formula is superior to a majority of the other nail polish brands I've strayed to. I liked China Glaze for a long time up until I realized it's simply too thick. OPI applies silky smooth & lasts for a week. For reference, I am NW05. For those whom aren't familiar with MAC lingo, that's code for "I am cool toned and nearly albino". Lucky Lucky Lavender is a an exact split between light and medium on me. It has cool undertones and seems to almost brighten my hands. I have never seeeeeeeen such a beautiful shade upon my skin. There is NOTHING I would change about this nail polish. The ONLY downfall is it's limited edition, from OPI's Hong Kong line. This truely breaks my heart. Fortunately I'm stocking up enough so that by the time I'm finished using up my LLL, there might be a dupe out there. If you're a PPP, run...don't walk..to your nearest OPI retailer. You will not be dissapointed.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Peach Petal
LorelaiNoah 6/16/2010 9:22:00 PM
I was pretty cautious about buying this. I took a few weeks to research & read reviews before finally purchasing it. Why? Because it's a peach shade, & looked rather too warm for my cool toned pale skin. However after reading reviews on here from other PPPs, I was persuaded. Boy am I glad. I'm not going to lie and say this is a baby pink color. It is peachy. However what makes it wearable on me, is the cool undertones. Overall I'd classify this as a neutral shade, neither warm nor cool. It's probably one of Revlon's most universal colors, seeing as any skin-tone can pull it off. :) Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss is the ONLY lip gloss I will ever purchase. In my opinion, the formula is amazing. (Peach Petal is no exception). Super moisturizing, pigmented, long lasting, & non-sticky. They're way better than ANY high end brand out there. Dior...Chanel... Laura Mercier...simply don't compare. Last but not least... this is an affordable product. I'd pay $20 if I had to for one. Luckily it retails for about $7!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Dylan's Candy Bar Vanilla Cake Batter Body Butter
LorelaiNoah 6/16/2010 5:16:00 PM
MmMmMm...this stuff is delicious. By far, Dylan's Cake Batter Butter Cream is the thickest body butter I have ever found. The smell is to die for. I should warn you that it doesn't smell like cake batter though, it's more of a store bought frosting scent. I was surprised to find the smell lingers allllll day. The price is the only con. $20 for a small body butter is ridiculous. I don't know if I would repurchase. And seeing as DCB Butter Cream is being discontinued soon, I don't think I'll be given the chance anyways. I did put "yes" for "would you buy this product again?" though, because it IS a great product!

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Body Butter
LorelaiNoah 6/16/2010 5:10:00 PM
I am so dissapointed with my purchase. I researched for weeks before putting in an order for three of these, since everyone raved about it on the beauty boards. However when my packaged arrived...my expectations fell short. First of all, the biggest con is the texture. It thin and liquidy. I thought perhaps it had melted in the Texas heat. However after putting them in the fridge for three days; I can assure you that is not the case. Next, is the moisturizing properties...or lack there of, I should say. This doesn't moisturize my dry skin any better than a $1 lotion from the dollar store does. The scent is the last huge con. I expected a light powdery rose smell...but this stuff reeks of dying flowers. I would not repurchase nor recommend. If you want a great moisturizer, Fruit of The Earth Vitamin E cream is everything I hoped TBS Vitamin E Body Butter would be...& its only $4 per 8oz.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Pink Pop
LorelaiNoah 6/15/2010 4:40:00 PM
Think Barbie...think fuchsia...think bright pink...think...the exact color of this lip gloss. It is way too colorful for my liking, pale skin, and coloring. On the flipside...I OBVIOUSLY should have known that before purchasing. What was i thinking? It was a mistake upon my behalf... not Revlon's. So with that being said - I put 'Yes' for 'Would You Buy This Product Again?'. I just wouldn't repurchase this exact shade. Revlon Super Lustrous L/Gs are heaven sent. The formula is unlike any other & leaves high end pricey glosses to shame. Moisturizing, opaque, long lasting, & non sticky. Can't forget how much I love the packaging! Revlon is in my opinion, the classiest brand of cosmetics out there. I'll be sticking to my HG shades, Peach Petal & Pink Whisper. (Fun fact: Revlon is owned by the L'Oreal company.)
