Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Mentholatum ACNES UV Tinted Milk SPF 50
Loletta_Mich 7/5/2009 6:01:00 PM
I can't agree more with wanyilee. I, too have ditched my foundation and two-way cakes for this HG babe. I'm a NC30 skin tone and surprisingly, this tinted milk shade fits me to a T. Nothing too light or fair like many other products do. This SPF is high at 50 and it also acts as an oil mattifier becos' it keeps the shines at bay all day, which came as a pleasant surprise becos I have never fund any SPF that could double up as an oil mattifier until I found this. The coverage is sheer to medium, great for that no made up yet dewy look. For those with more serious and obvious blemishes may need a concealor to cover up. But htose with good clean skin and just go ahead with this SPF HG on its own. I never fancied wearing any make up at all due to the humidity and heat in my country Singapore. The weather makes it worse by making any make up that I apply look cakey. But not with this suncscreen. It gives me an even toned complexion, yet sheer and dewy as if I was borned with naturally good skin, mattifies my oil well face all day, and all this without needing any extra moisturisers beneath or MU base. A lazy person like me would use Acnes medicated as an SPF lotion and top it up with Ettusais Day Protect Powder so I know I won't have heavy made up skin with clogged pores at the end of the day cos the combi protects and cares for my skin whilst it let my skin breathes. This tinted version is not sold locally in stores in my country so I got my mum to buy me 4 bottles of this when she went to Taiwan last year.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - K-Palette - 24 Hr Real Lasting Eyeliner
Loletta_Mich 7/5/2009 5:45:00 PM
I borrowed this from my girlfriend for my wedding yesterday and I did tested it out for precision and lasting quality as claimed. Upon first application I fell in love with this pen. I didn't have to pause and depress any pump to release the ink, neither do I have to dip my brush in to any eyeliner bottle which I have to do so previously for other brands like Maybelline. The ink came out perfect, not dripping too much nor too little and the sharp smooth brush tip makes it a breeze that looks like a professional lining. Best of all, this is drugstore brand (sold at Watsons Singapore for S$18.90) that works like any high end cosmetic brands. The color lasted me throughout the whole day in a hot, sunny and humid Singapore weather even as I did my solemnisation vows in the sweltering heat. My powder may have melted a little but definately not this eyeliner. Its lives up to its claim, Precision: 5 out of 5 Ease: 5 out of 5 Staying quality: 5 out of 5

Lip Treatments -Shu Uemura - Principe Lip Serum
Loletta_Mich 11/18/2008 4:53:00 AM
This is great, it moisturises my lips well even on cold winter-y days. The moisturising goes on for hours than compared to other balms that I have tried, all of which I have to reapply very often within a day. Principe Lip Serum doesn't make me do reapplications many times over. The only main downside of this product is the tube packaging. Not very user-friendly for people on the move and worse, if they do not carry a purse mirror. You have to squeeze a little of the balm onto your fingers and apply and it can get messy as compared to using a balm stick. Also, you have to rub it into your lips otherwise on just mere application would give you white ugly lips.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - The Body Shop Lipscuff
Loletta_Mich 11/18/2008 4:33:00 AM
Applying Lipscuff on my lips is like applying one of those oil-based crayons on my lips. The gunk is thick and the exfoliators doesn't scrub off the dry flakes off my lips. In fact, it only made the flakes became more prominent becos' the flakes just stood out, but not off. The price isn't cheap either and thank goodness this came free for me as a gift from a friend. But the most pet peeve of all is having to wash off the gunk and residue off my lips. Like oil-based crayons, it takes alot of effort to wipe or wash off the Lipscuff.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Facial Peel [DISCONTINUED]
Loletta_Mich 5/22/2008 3:29:00 AM
I am not sure why this mask peel did nothing for me. For starters, I do not get that tingling sensation which the manufacturers claim. It feels as if I did not even applied anything at all. I use this peel once to twice a week for the past two months and there still hasn't been any significant difference. I don't see it nor feel any improvements to my complexion. And this isn't quite cheap either, a bit pricey if i must say. Definately NOT worth the money. I think I am better off with just my normal face wash and scrub to get that glowing, new skin effect instead of this peel.

Scrubs -Olay - Regenerist Thermal Skin Polisher
Loletta_Mich 5/22/2008 3:15:00 AM
HORRIBLE PRODUCT! Worst scrub I ever used. Price was mid range, St. Ives' Apricot scrub performed far much better and at a fraction of the price.
Let me breakdown on why this so don't work for me:
Performance: Scrub beads are so tiny that they feel almost invisible to my finger tips and face. That aside, the worst was the scrub left a filmy-like, unclean feeling on my skin. Definately horrors for my oil-combination skin.
Packaging: There's something about the formulation that totally clogs up the dispenser hole of the tube. When not used on a regular basis (read: used once or twice a week), I had to use my entire strength to squeeze any scrub onto my palms becos the whole stuff just clogs up badly.
Price: Mid range, not exactly cheap as compared to St. Ives but not expensive compared to Clinique's scrub either.
Now I only use this on my feet so as not to waste my money. I can't wait til I am done with this trash before I get a Clinique scrub. The latter is by far the BEST scrub I have ever used, following closely by St. Ives.

Foundations -Za - Two-Way Foundation SPF20 PA++
Loletta_Mich 4/7/2005 6:21:00 PM
Pros: I've picked shade #32 which fits me to a T (unlike L'Oreal, Maybelline, etc...) after a few hours of wear cos of the little oxidisation. ZA's #32 shade is one of the very few brands that could fit my olive skintone very well. I liked that their packaging is flat, broad and compact with a big mirror and how they give me the perfect coverage I am looking for--nothing too sheer nor too heavy. Just PUURRRFECT!! Heck! I've even used this in place over my L'Oreal Cashmere foundation now. It hides my blemishes well when applied over my MAC concealor, blending both nicely. I used to have that lighter-shade-concealor-contrasting-against-foundation look which looks very unnatural with other concealors and foundations.
Cons:It doesn't have good oil-controlling properties as it claimed to be 'cos my entire face got oily again after an hour. Its not just my T-zone but my entire face from cheeks to chin. I hardly get such poor oil-control effect with other brands (L'Oreal's AirWear, L'Oreal Perfect, etc...)of 2-way foundations. As it gives the best coverage (nothing too thick nor sheer) yet doesnt control oil, my face would look very fake, especially cakeish and made up if I pile on the foundation-powder to blot off the oil. I realise to prevent such a cakey look I have to blot really, really well to remove any traces of shine and oil before patting on another layer of ZA. Its quite a bother for me especially since I always prefer the fuss-free way of make up. Specially just for that cakey, oily look which ZA had given me I had to go out and purchase another oil-control blotting sheer powder compact just to keep my oilies at bay whilst not caking up my face. Nonetheless, the cakiness were still within reasonable limits as compared to previous disastrous foundations. Price wise its abit costly for a drugstore brand.
Overall:This is the only foundation which I feel very much comfortable with maybe becos of their smoothness, perfect shade (I'm much more particular about shade match),gives me that I'm not made up look tho I know I'll look made up if I continue to pile on the foundation over oils that weren't blotted off. I'd re-purchase this again.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - All Clear Deep Cleansing Oil
Loletta_Mich 4/3/2005 11:19:00 PM
A fairly average product with average results. Let's see why this is so:
Packaging & Consistency -
HORRIBLE. With the exception of the nice cooling translucent blue color, the oil seemed to be extremely thin and runny. It was very hard to control this water-like consistency oil in my palms and I had to waste much of it leaking through my fingers and onto the floor. A very troublesome product to use if you ask me. Moreover, I had oily fingers and palms from the first dispense and I needed to depress more on the bottle to get more of it on my palms to replace those that had spilled/leaked away. As expected, the bottle got oily, slippery and I lost the grip... basically the whole process for a single removal was very cumbersome. Perhaps I am not just used to oil. I've now switched over to ZA's Cleansemax for good ( read my reviews on ZA's Cleansemax ) as that does the job just as well but with the added bonus of better handling in a light, bluish gel consistence.
Quality -
Not bad, if only I could get more on my face to massage and wipe off. Basically after squirting tons of times off the bottle to be able to get a sufficient amount on my face in the end, the results were fairly above average yet nothing to rave about either. Like one of the MUA members, my eyes had this blurry sight after application and wiping off which lasts for a little while. Although oily to the touch, the after effect of All Clear didnt felt oily on my oily complexion.
Verdict -
I'll try to finish up this bottle and will not repurchase again.

Skincare - Face -Za - CleanseMax Double Cleaning Gel
Loletta_Mich 3/31/2005 5:23:00 PM
This has got to be the BEST make up cleanser I've ever used!!! I love the smell, its ultra cooling and light bluish gel-like consistency. This removes all my make up clean and leaves an extremely nice soft and non-drying or oily feel on my skin. I gave 5 lippies cus of that.
Prior to Cleansemax I was using L'Oreal's All Clear Cleansing Oil which offers the same efficiency BUT alas, it was also too liquidfied for my liking. Damn oil kept seeping thru my fingers even before I could get some on my face and they stained my carpet due to the leak. The latter is extremely hard to control on my palms.
Back to Cleansemax, I wonder where was I all this time looking for a perfect make up remover when Cleansemax was just right under my nose, easily available in retail shops and having constant offers too. The thick gel consistency was easy to control in amount in my palms and felt velvety (and not oily) on my skin. I have pretty oily skin so this works perfect for me cus of their oil-free properties, its not even a single drying bit (after wipe off that is) on my skin despite the content of alcohol present. Definately a HG for oily skinned girls.

Highlighters -MAC - Strobe Tint in Pulse Pink
Loletta_Mich 3/28/2005 9:55:00 PM
I'm glad I got this in a sample becos this is an utter disappointment. I tried it on two way: once under my foundation and on another day, over my foundation to see which (under or over) would give me a better dewy effect.
When I applied (it glided on like a dream and that is the ONLY plus)it lightly on my bare face I could see no mica-like shine. The only shine I saw was a mild oil slick.Apart from that, the light colored cream made my face pastey pale. So I though, perhaps this should be used OVER foundation instead and I did that the next time round. This was a total regret!!Smearing on the cream only caked up my foundation n half an hour later I had extremely visible open pores and an even more oilier slick on my face!!! *HORRORS!!*
I'll NEVER purchase any of this from MAC, ever!!

Skincare - Face -L'Oreal - Skin Refiner
Loletta_Mich 3/11/2005 1:00:00 PM
The price wasn't at all cheap to me and also a waste of my money. I've seen NO improvements to my skin and pores after weeks of usage that I've totally discarded the bottle to the very corner of my dressing table.
But I have to agree that it does gives a matte look to the skin upon application, feels very light and sinks into my skin very fast. Scent wise I like it and am comfortable with it too.

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Age Defying Revitalizing Eye Gel
Loletta_Mich 3/11/2005 12:28:00 PM
I dont know how it works when this gel only contain just cucumber extract and other basic ingredients but it DOES works. First of all, I have very puffy eyes (no thanks to my genes) and dark eye rings yet with no fine lines nor crows feets. I wanted a reasonably priced eye gel but wasn't too sure on which one to get as there are so many eye gels in the market that one's spoilt for choice. Basically I took a risk and purchased Olay's eye gel. After 3 weeks of daily morning and night application I noticed my eye bags have noticeably firmed up and almost vanished! I couldnt get this effect with other eye gels which I have wasted money on and used in the past. However the gel did nothing for my dark eye rings though which I personally feel that it wasn't as bad as having puffy eyes cos the former could easily be covered up with make up. As for the fine lines, I cant say much about it either cos as mentioned earlier I do not have any fine lines around my eyes. Likewise, I do realise that the eye gel do stings my eyes alot and makes em teary only when I've put on too much. The trick is to dab a little of the gel and lightly apply on my eyelids. And yeah, I have to agree too that this takes too long to sink in and luckily for me I do not wear make up at all so I need not have to wait. However when I leave my home for school I'll have to contend with 2 patches of wet and sticky looking 'shine' on my eyes until the gel sits in which makes em totally invisible. Overall I still would re-purchase this again as it works alot more efficiently with noticeable results on me.

Tinted Moisturizer -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise - UV Perfect - Daily Tinted Moisturizer
Loletta_Mich 3/11/2005 12:09:00 PM
I live in super hot and humid (all year round) Singapore and I have pretty oily skin. Of all the other sunscreens which I've used so far, this is by far the best which has me continually using it unlike other SPFs which I've tried on once or twice and then dump.
The consistency is fluid-like, very smooth and spreads on easily. The smell is not overpowering and I'm ok with it too. But the best of em all is that this is the least greasiest sunscreens amongst other brands in the market. Not that it is totally matte, I agree that it does gives some shine after a few hours/ minutes but this fluid doesnt even feel at all heavy on my skin.I dont feel as oil-heavy on my skin with Loreal than with many other brands.
UPDATED: This product sucks!! Just that one particular day it had to go all greasy on my entire face making me look as if I was a greasy frying pan after cooking a sunny side-up. To add to the horrors, that very night I had ultimate break outs on both my usual break out prone areas of my face as well as the non-prone break out spots!! And I'm not even anywhere near that monthly woman's cycle yet where my face naturally breaks out in full bloom!!! Have switched over to SunKiller and crossing my fingers, hoping it'll work.
