Lotions/ Creams -Acure Organics - CALMING LAVENDER + LOTUS FLOWER BODY LOTION
LizM9 2/26/2013 12:24:00 PM
I am so excited abut Acure! Everything I have used from them so far has been WONDERFUL! The dry shampoo is AH.MAZING. The line eraser has greatly eased my 11s. The Radical Wrinkle Complex is fabulous. But this review is for the lavender body lotion which is AWESOME! I use it before I go to bed, and I feel like its slowing down the aging process on my hands, they are always SO SOFT and smooth in the morning. The scent is awesome, relaxing. The packaging is super cute, the price is great. I have yet to try something from this line that disappoints. If you try nothing else from Acure, TRY THEIR HAIR PRODUCTS. Or this lotion. Either way you willbe happy.

Lip Treatments -L'Oreal - le Balm in Pink Satin
LizM9 7/28/2012 5:02:00 PM
This is just the lip product for hot Georgia summers! I wanted something light and tinted, but glossy without the ickiness of gloss. This is a darling, faint pink-glossy with no stickiness, and lasts a very long time! It's six dollars at my local target, so at this rate I will have to check out a couple more colors- at least enough to me to October!

Fragrances -Chloe - l'eau de chloe
LizM9 3/10/2012 10:42:00 AM
This is such an outstanding fragrance for being so shy! It is incredibly feminine, youthful. The undertone of rose is what I enjoy the most - it's the truest, cleanest rose I ever smelled in a perfume. It reminds me of some scent from my childhood that I just can't put my finger on, which is probably why I have such an emotional reaction to this perfume. The staying power is decent - would definitely need to refresh from day to evening. I spray some into my hair at the nape of my neck, so whenever I turn my head I can smell it again. The staying power is the only thing I would change, but then again that might make it a more assertive scent, and I really do think the beauty is in it's subtlety and delicate elegance. I ordered the body lotion recently, so hopefully layering will help. Beautiful scent, beautiful bottle - this is perfect to transition to spring!

Bronzers -E.L.F. - Studio Golden Bronzer
LizM9 1/16/2012 5:20:00 PM
I cannot believe I only paid three dollars for this! I haven't used a bronzer since Perscriptves went out of business and took the only good one I could find with it. But I am glad I took a chance on this one. I am very pale, and find that this gives me just the right wash of 'healthy', especially now during the winter. It is a little shimmery, but I don't find it over-bearingly so. I apply it to cheek apples/cheekbones, forehead, nose and chin - just the faintest swipe - and then use the darkest color on my eyelids and the fairest on under my brows and BOOM! I am ready to go with the barest effort. The packaging is surprisingly stirdy and sleek, not at all cheap-seeming, and it includes a really decent sized mirror. For three dollars, this was an amazing buy - highly recommended!

Palettes -Too Faced - Natural Eye Kit
LizM9 11/3/2011 1:48:00 PM
HOW. FUN! I absolutely love this palette, and the helpful cards that come with it. The 'Day' is totally perfect for the office - you can really subtle or smoke it out for a sexy 60's eye. I was a little intimidated by the 'Fashion' colors, but finally tried it, and they look gorgeous! nude Beach is one of the coolest colors - it is very sparkly, but I think you just have to experiment to get to your perfect build with it. The only one I haven't mastered so far is the 'Classic' - I am just not sure all of the colors work well with my extremely pale skin in the recommended combination, but I am definitely going to try it again. Either way, the colors are super-pigmented and long-lasting, and alot of fun to work with. Well worth the price - I love this palette!

Liquid -Lancome - Renergie Lift Makeup SPF 20
LizM9 3/5/2011 3:01:00 PM
I am at a point in my life where I've decided to stop scooping up armfuls of products at the drug store to try out for the novelty of it, and just stick with the classics - and with what I know works best. A few years ago I purchased a bottle of this before a job interview that I wanted to look perfect for, and loved the soft dewiness that it imparts. Somewhere after that bottle, I fell in love with Perscriptives foundation (sniff! RIP Px) but since that was discontinued I messed around with any number of less than fabulous foundations. The latest was a hot mess from L'Oreal (the souffle foundation - great packaging - product simply ugh) that made me look ghostly and sad, and balled up right above my eyebrows. This sent me right back to Renergie, and I couldn't be happier. Dewy, smooth, *perfect* shade - very buildable. Takes my cream blush very well - does *not* pill, make me break out, or settle into little lines. Worth every penny!

Palettes -Jemma Kidd Makeup School - Strike A Pose Swivel Palette
LizM9 7/27/2010 12:23:00 PM
I got this for half price at target, and totally scored - this is a great palette! I had never used jemma Kidd before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I am really pleased with this. This pigments are rich and long-lasting - the combination of the palest color with the dark shimmery grey creates a soft, pretty effect that lasts all day. The highlighter is effective but not garish, and the blush is a very youthful, fresh pink. The lipgloss is just fine - a nice subtle flush of color. Very convenient!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Velvet Tuberose
LizM9 6/18/2010 1:42:00 AM
Not being a fan of almost everything BBW, I was shocked to find that I truly like this scent. It is intense and heady - it's got big hips and plenty of cleavage so it's not for the faint of heart. But every single time I wear it, I get compliments, and the scent really lasts. My husband loves it, and I too am pleasantly surprised. At the reasonable price, it's a fun fragarance to explore.

Conditioner -LUSH - American Cream
LizM9 5/2/2010 12:29:00 PM
The first 2 days that I used this conditioner, it worked great. It made my dry, generally fine hair thick and very easy to style. However, after that ever-so-brief honeymoon period I can honestly say I hate this conditioner. I have never before used a conditioner that made my hair perfectly straw-like - dry, crunchy, lackluster, completely devoid of body. I still love the smell - the combined fragrance of using this with the Karma hair-puck is wonderful, but it's just not worth it when I have to use 2 other products when I get out of the shower to counter-act it effects. I wish I hadn't paid so much for this. SIGH - just goes to show how persuasive a nice fragrance can be. But if you have dry, color treated hair, I'd recommend avoiding this like the plague.

Cleansers -Derma E - Derma e Papaya and Soy Foaming Facial Cleanser
LizM9 9/7/2009 11:39:00 AM
I started using this cleanser as part of regimine to get my skin back in shape after an awful breakout caused by Neutrogena's Healthy Defense sunscreen, and way too much of their salycilic acid products. Using this in conjunction with Kiss My Face's acne gel has been amazing. My skin cleared up within a matter of days. I still get my normal hormonal breakouts of course, and my skin is just HIGHLY sensitive and easily congested. But this is a great cleanser - very gentle, VERY sudsy. I use it with a facial sponge and my skin feels very very clean and smooth afterwards. I find in general that the more natural products work best on my skin, and this cleanser is no exception. It does have a distinctive fragrance, but it doesn't bother me at all. Just a very gentle, effective cleanser.

Treatments -Kiss My Face - obsessively organic breakout botanical acne gel
LizM9 8/29/2009 10:24:00 AM
I started using this product 2 days ago to try and clear a bizarre breakout of tiny, angry red zits all over my cheeks and forehead which I believe was caused by using Neutrogena's Healthy Defense. I had been trying salycilic acid on the breakouts, which worked up to a certain extent and then stopped working. In two short days I already see a huge improvement! The breakout has calmed, pimples have disappeared, my skin looks smoother and happier already. This is an amazingly effective formula - I am so glad there is a natural alternative to harsh acne products that is this effective! It does give skin a very taut feeling when applied, but I wouldn't necessarily call it drying. The peppermint oil feels wonderfully cooling to the skin. The formula is a bit runny - be careful squeezing the tube because a little goes a long way. I've worn this under makeup and under nighttime lotion, and I can't even tell it's there. I am exceedingly pleased with this product!

Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - the Detangler
LizM9 7/4/2009 12:32:00 PM
This is an excellent product for my fine, dry, snarly hair. It conquers static fly-aways (one of my biggest problems) and makes combing my hair out after a shower much easier. The things that I love most about it though is how incredibly SOFT it makes my hair. I know it sounds corny but I can't stop touching my hair. For the first time ever, I have committed to the large size of a conditioner. It is surprisingly thin in formulation for the amount of conditioning you get from it, which is maybe why it works so well on my fine hair. I use it every day, and it is solid-gold!

Styling Products -Pureology - Pureology Spray Gel
LizM9 4/12/2009 12:00:00 PM
I have been plagued this winter by the most insane static-y hair I have ever experienced in my life. I was considering just chopping it all off, but my stylist told me about this product and how she found out that it works wonders on static (we live in a really dry, cold, windy climate, so hair static is a big topic with the ladies). I had already spent so much money on product trying to find something that would bring my normally well-behaved hair back, so I didn't want to spend the $$ for this, but finally broke down. And it is WORTH it! I feel like my sanity has been restored. It works well as a gel, holding my style in place, and has replenished my hair's natural balance. I did have to experiment a couple of times with it to get the right amount down, but am in a very happy place right now. Definitely worth the money.

Moisturizers -Derma E - Vitamin A Wrinkle Treatment Moisturizing Gel
LizM9 4/12/2009 11:53:00 AM
I love Derma-E products, and added this recently to my routine along with the Glycolic cleanser, which is my HG. This is DEFINITELY not moisturizing - at least not in the super dry, cold climate that I live in. But it is basically 10,000 IU's of vitamins A and E, so it seems like a good, light exfoliator to use under a moisturizer. It's inexpensive, light, smells nice. It's hard to tell if it's doing anything yet - my skin is in really good shape wrinkle-wise (I'm 33 and still get carded) so I figure - it can't hurt, especially around the neck and chest areas.

Moisturizers -Weleda - Everon Cold Cream
LizM9 3/26/2009 12:39:00 AM
Two very enthusiastic thumbs up! I live at an elevation of over 7,000 feet, and winters can be brutally dry and windy. I developed random rough patches on my cheek and nose that were incredibly annoying. This has been the only product so far to get that under control and help my skin be plump and smooth again. I also use it as an eye and neck cream, and on my hands and cuticles as needed. I'll never go another winter without this product. Cute tube, lovely scent - Weleda is a wonderful line.
