I am white with hair that is a mix of straight/fine and coarse/wavy/curly hairs that stick up all over my head. I have lived in a really dry climate for the past 5 years (West Texas) and was looking at pictures from when I lived in the Pac Northwest. I was shocked to see how dull and dry my hair had become over time from the bad water we have here. Apple Cider doesn't help. Even if it removes the Ca++ and Mg++ it is still so drying. I have tried everything. Not shampooing but 2x a week, the Loreal Conditioner Creme Shampoo/EverSulfate, nothing works. Then I remembered this line from using the conditioner in DC and thought the shampoo might have some oils in it that helped put some moisture back in my hair. Now, I can't stop touching my hair! After one use it became soft and shiny again, not coarse and dry and flyaway. It actually shines again. I noticed this shampoo has a 72-hour moisture time, which I hope is true because I try to wash my hair every 3 days. I lathered it on and shaved my legs to let the oils and creams absorb and then rinsed and conditioned like normal. I didn't even add any product to my hair after chamois towel-drying. I may not use this every time I shampoo, but I will use it for 1 of my 2 weekly shampoos for sure. Wonderful! But yes if you don't have extremely dry hair, it is probably too much for you.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Repair night moisturizer
rated 3 of 5

I am on the fence. I use a whole bottle before commenting, and although this does a good job plumping the skin overnight (hyluoronic acid), the effect is temporary and will only work while you are using the product. However, I do sleep on one side of my face although I am trying to train myself to sleep on the back, and this does help with that irritating pillow crease I get from nose to mouth corner from this habit! However there is a 2-piece set from University Medical that will do the same for $15 which includes a gel and cream. I know this has retinol in it, but it doesn't seem to exfoliate as well as my Roc Multicorrexion 4-in-one serum I used before trying this. I am planning to go back to Roc but try the Deep Wrinkle Serum because I have enjoyed my results with their products. I was also intrigued by the tone-correction serum, but I will probably wait on that until Fall.

Fragrances -Donna Karan - Woman

My mom loves Cashmere Mist and I prefer Black Cashmere. I was really happy to see DK coming out with a new fragrance. She knows what she is doing. I received this for Christmas from my husband and I have been wearing it very frequently. Creamy amber, maybe labdanum(?) with deep floral overlays. Lasts a while on my (2 applications per day). A warm-medium scent, likely not noticeable unless you are close to the person wearing it. Great fragrance for work.

Lipstick -Revlon - Color Stay Ultimate Suede Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 3/8/2013 10:15:00 AM

I have had these on my list for a long time. I had committed to a lipstick (Clinique Butter Shine in Crushed Grape) but I just had to stray when I saw stay-put power without a gloss. I bought Supermodel last night and it is the only drugstore color that has suited me without trying it first! I love it. I have an uneven top lip and have to draw on half the bow with a liner, so I am hesitant to do that without guarantee staying power. I drew on the bow at 7am and it is nearly 10am with no smudging or straying. The color is MLBB. Yes it is matte, but as long as you moisturize well the night before and exfoliate in the morning with a washcloth, you should be good to go. I am on the job market and giving a ton of conference presentations with looooong days, and I need something that can hold up without retouching. This does the trick. Yes it is drier than most lipsticks, but not unbearably so. And I didn't put balm on before putting it on. I am fine. Really happy with the color selection, though. I may try a darker one since this one is more MLBB nude/mauve (works well with pasty skin :) ) But I have to say I am going to also check out the Wet n Wild Megalasts for their color selection and prices next time I am out. Love the applicator and click-to-use mechanism, and that you can see the color of the product in the cap. This works great with the nude Milani lipliner. I am really happy to have nice looking lips with this! I will definitely use this for formal or professional events.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverPure Sulfate-free Color Care Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 12/20/2012 3:20:00 PM

I like how this shampoo smells and cleans. It smells like a nice, womanly perfume (as opposed to teenage girl). Maybe a bit of amber in there. The shampoo does a good job cleaning my hair and it feels like there are some replenishing oils in the formula (my hair feels moisturized when I rinse, not stripped dry like my old shampoo). I use conditioner and style as normal. Have not had any issues with volume, and appreciate how I can shampoo every 3 days (2x a week) without my hair seeming greasy or flat. However, my ends are still dry and I am still on the search for a moisturizer that does not contain silicones as their primary ingredient. At least until I move away from this desert climate! :) I miss my Washington hair.

Loose Powders -E.L.F. - Studio High Definition Powder
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 12/20/2012 3:15:00 PM

Really light translucent powder--does a great job mattifying without being drying. It is a steal at $6 although the packaging could be better (the lid can be hard to screw back on, and feels kind of cheap, but what can I complain about? It is $6 and has wonderful product inside). I still travel with Boots Translucent Powder due to its packaging, but this is a great powder to have at half the price. I have to keep it away from my brown eyebrows though, because the powder can look a little dusty if I bump up against them.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Ageless Intensives Deep Wrinkle Serum
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 12/20/2012 3:07:00 PM

Does a good job exfoliating and feeling that it is working. I didn't care for sleeping with the vanilla-egg cake scent, but it grew on me after a while (but I still don't like it). My only real qualm was the glass jar and pump made it difficult to get the last part of the cream out of the bottle. $16 is spendy for me, and I don't want to waste product.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Extra Strength Hair Color Remover - Color Oops
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 10/1/2012 9:08:00 PM

THANK YOU for making this. My "dark brown" dye = inky black. After conducting a strand test, my hair became its normal brown self again (a little darker than normal, which is funny because that is the color I was hoping for). I only had to spend 1 day looking like a fool. I left it on for 20 minutes. the bottle was more than enough to drench my medium thickness, collar bone length hair. I had about an inch of product left in the bottle. I rinsed it for 5 full minutes with a timer and then shampooed twice, spending another 5 minutes rinsing each (15 minutes total). By then my knees were breaking off in the bathtub and my hair was looking normal and brown so I stopped. Yes I still reek of sulphur but I don't care; at least I can look in a mirror without cringing! :D Never again, semi-permanent "brown" dye! Thank you Oops! $12.99 at Walgreens.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color
rated 1 of 5
LittleViolet 10/1/2012 10:04:00 AM

I have been having the worst luck with brown hair dye lately. I did iced chocolate and my hair is inky black. I guess I will also have a review for Oops color remover. It is shiny, but sooo fake looking, and I am almost 34 years old so I can't pull off the jet black hair look. I wish I didn't need to color my hair at all but I am getting grays. Honestly it may be due to the water where I live (very minerally and drying to my hair and skin) so my hair may have been extra porous. However, I did not look up the reviews for this product before using, so I should have chosen a much lighter (if any) color. I had high hopes because while it was on because it didn't turn my roots orange/fried nor did the color get purple. Oh well. I wish I had done this before a long weekend so I could have fixed this. How horrible. There is mild shine but my hair is flat, flat, flat and looks so fake. :( Every time I walk by a mirror I get depressed. I really hope CVS carries Oops color remover.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 9/11/2012 9:30:00 PM

Great stuff; I lucked out on a bottle from my parents who bought it by mistake. It's so gentle, I never get too dried out, yet it does a great job getting everything off (minus waterproof eye makeup). Sometimes I have to go around the eye area, but I really like how gentle and non-drying it is, yet so effective at cleansing, even for people with oily skin. And it is like $8 for a huge bottle!

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Youth Code Dark Spot SPF 30 Day Cream
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 9/11/2012 9:20:00 PM

Use this during the day...I don't wear foundation though--it might bead a little if you do, feels like there are some silicones in it. I think it gives enough luminizing to make me feel awake. I use this all over and have not had one issue with break outs! I use RoC Deep Wrinkle cream at night under my eyes with RoC Multicorrexion layered on top, then Cetaphil to wash. I have been using this combo the past 2 weeks and it has really made a good difference.

Treatments -RoC - Multi Correxion Skin Renewing Serum
rated 4 of 5
LittleViolet 9/11/2012 9:08:00 PM

I use a combo of products for aging: first a layer of Roc Deep Wrinkle cream under my eyes and on fine lines, then 1.5 pumps of MultiCorrexion over my entire face. It does a great job absorbing and it makes my face like velvet. In the morning, I have been using L'oreal Youth Code Day Cream with SPF 20 with the dark spot corrector, and I have been very happy with this combination of products for the past 2 weeks I have been using them. I barely wear foundation unless I go out or something, but this has really made my skin look good. Will buy again and continue to use it in this combination.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion
rated 3 of 5
LittleViolet 6/7/2012 12:28:00 AM

I used the whole sample (a few weeks' worth) from a magazine, but my hair just did not respond. I have a layered shoulder-length cut with razored ends, but my texture is both fine (75% of hairs) and coarse (25% of hairs) so I have lots of unruly kinks if I don't tame it. The ends did look better when my hair was still wet (~6 tiny drops) but by the time I blow-dried it 5min later, my whole head looked like its usual fried self and the ends were not very moisturized (getting used to a big climate change after moving; Dallas humidity makes my hair puffy and dry-looking--nothing helps, not even a cut). I just didn't have much luck with my hair.

Misc Beauty Tools -Ardell - invisibands 110
rated 5 of 5
LittleViolet 5/28/2012 9:24:00 PM

Great natural lash. Can layer mascara over them (from underneath) once they are glued on. Haven't worn them alone, but I probably will at some weddings this summer. Still looking for a perfect glue; the Ardell cream glue tube doesn't last well on me; the clear honey colored one seems stronger but can be hard to get off. Wanting to try the 305s too.

Shampoo -LUSH - Godiva Solid 2 in 1
rated 5 of 5
LittleViolet 5/27/2012 5:45:00 PM

Smells SO good. Love the jasmine scent. I know this is a 2-in-1, but I still use conditioner (Suave hydration) with this shampoo because my hair gets really dry and frizzy and am trying to let my hair air-dry all summer. I will purchase again based on scent alone!
