Mascara -Shu Uemura - ultimate expression
Lisainsf 7/1/2008 12:05:00 AM
I was at the Shu Uemura boutique to pick up eyeshadow and I happened to notice that they have this new mascara producgt, so I casually tried one of the sample tubes and... OMG! The is truly the "ultimate" mascara. It goes on easily without clumping, makes your lashes huge and full and glossy. Really gorgeous. I am going to save this for evening and use my Precise Volume or Shiseido Lifting Mascara in the daytime. Update 7/12/08: after using this twice I can say that it clumps more than the other Shu formulas (1 lippie off for that). I shall try to find the right application technique for this formula.

Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Lokoum
Lisainsf 6/23/2008 12:37:00 AM
Recently swapped for this blush, and I like it more than I expected to. Its a reddish color with gold shimmer and a hint of brown. I like it because when I put it on over foundation or bare skin and blend well, it's TOTALLY natural looking. (This is what I'm going for!!) If I add some bronzer or shimmery neutral blush over top of it, it's gives me noticeable but extremely natural-looking color. Shows up on me better than the other shades of Nars blush (which I LOVE btw), and better than any of the Multiples. This shade will probably work for you if you are olive/tan, but probably not if you are fair.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Indianwood
Lisainsf 6/22/2008 6:20:00 PM
I am now disenchanted with Paint Pots. The main reason is that they are so opaque, and I do not like opaque shadows during the daytime. Indianwood is a lovely shimmery bronze-gold. If you are looking for a very warm metallic bronze color that won't smear or fade, this is the product. I much prefer Shiseido Hydro Powder in Shimmering Sand.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Vieux Carre Duo
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 2:55:00 PM
It is unforgiveable that they make eye shadow pans that you THINK will go into the standard Stila shadow palette, but SURPRISE! it doesn't! The colors are OK, but I am at a loss as to how to store and carry them. Don't bother with this.

Blush -NARS - Luster
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 2:30:00 PM
This is a light peach with gold frost. I'm not much into frost blushes, but this one looks totally natural. It's nice to use over just about anything, or on bare skin. Its true what other reviewers have said, that this is the blush that looks good on those of us who find Orgasm to be too pink. If I have a little tan, this looks more like a highlighter, but is still lovely. I sometimes use this over top of a Nars cream blush or Multiple, and it gives me a glow.

Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Gueule de Nuit [DISCONTINUED]
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 2:20:00 PM
I am slowly becoming a convert to cream blushes- up to now I have been a steadfast powder-blush-only gal. First I came around to the NARS multiples, and now this blush. It is a lovely peachy-red, definitely more warm than cool. It is has a slight shimmer which is subtle. It adds a very natural looking color when used right on top of bare skin or foundation. The only problem for me is that it sinks in and is not very noticeable after the first 10 minutes! So this is more of a layering product for me. I will use this or the Portofino Multiple, then powder blush on top. Not sure if I will buy again.

Blush -NARS - Passion [DISCONTINUED]
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 2:13:00 PM
This is my favorite warm-toned matte blush- but I think this color has been discontinued. (The closest color to this is Amour, which seems more pink.) Passion is perfect for my olive skintone, and ideal when I don't want shimmer. Like other Nars blushes, it is very pigmented but it has a very fine consistency and really blends in well-- you don't see anything but a healthy flush. Hope I can swap for another one!

Lipstick -Shiseido - Perfecting Lipstick - P1 Acorn (Bois de Cedre)
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 1:59:00 PM
This is one of my favorite nude lipsticks. It's a perfect color but hard to describe- it has a beige-brown base but has some pink and plum in it as well. It goes on fairly sheer and has dimension to it. Feels moist, is easily layered. Lasting power isn't great, but its still lovely.

Lipstick -Cle de Peau - lipstick
Lisainsf 4/26/2008 1:54:00 PM
I bought my first CdeP lipstick about 2 years ago - #61 - and although I was SHOCKED at the price ($55) I went and bought 3 more within a year. This is a light textured lipstick which seems to deposit color on the lips that lasts for a good long while. It's not particularly moisturizing, but it does somehow make my lips look luscious. My favorite colors are #61, a frosty beige, and #22, a creamy light peach color. Both look great in combination with a basic nude lipstick like MAC Hug Me. Also #54 which is a medium pink. This really is way too expensive, but if you want to feel rich and beautiful, this is the product.

Crème -Chantecaille - Future Skin
Lisainsf 4/13/2008 1:30:00 PM
I had not used foundation regularly for at least a decade, when I found this. Although I didn't intend to use it every day, that is what I wound up doing. Liquid foundations tend to get "sucked up" into my skin, and compact foundations like MAC Moistureblend tend to be too heavy/emollient. Future Skin is a unique product because of its gel texture. Why did it take so long for someone to come up with this?? It blends easily and provides medium coverage that looks totally natural. I use couple of small dabs on my cheeks and one on my chin, blend well, and I have that even-toned complexion of my youth. If you have a lot of skin problems, this may not give enough coverage, but for me, its perfect.

Eyeliner -MAC - Powerpoint Eyeliner - Forever Green
Lisainsf 2/23/2008 7:59:00 PM
I just recently bought this pencil, but I love it! The color is a metallic olive green, which and it actually does look green on me. (Many greens wind up looking taupe or brownish.) All the Powerpoint pencils set like iron and do not rub off. Definitely recommend!!

Eyeliner -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Mat Black 0L
Lisainsf 2/23/2008 7:51:00 PM
This seems to be the darkest & most opaque black eyeliner pencil I have found. It is not as long wearing as a gel formula eyeliner such as Fluidline, but if I am in a hurry this pencil is MUCH faster. Will definitely buy again, unless I lose my love of black eyeliner.

Conditioner -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Conditioner
Lisainsf 2/23/2008 2:26:00 PM
I went out last weekend and spent a whopping $67 on this conditioner plus a 16-ounce Kiehl's Amino Acid shampoo, and realized that I am quite spoiled by these products. Glossing Conditioner is simply the best conditioner I have ever used, and I have tried MANY. I have long hair which is color treated, and I need a conditioner which is moisturizing and yet not heavy, and this is it. It makes my hair super shiny and manageable. Also, with this conditioner, I can go a day or two without shampooing, and my hair still looks good. (I also recommend the FF Glossing Cream if you have frizzy or wavy hair like me.)

Blush -Rimmel - Blush in Santa Rose
Lisainsf 2/23/2008 2:09:00 PM
I received this blush as an extra in a swap (thanks afbabjeanius!), and I was stunned to find how much I like it. I have been using Nars and MAC blushes exclusively, which are $25 and $17.50 respectively, and along comes a blush that I can get for $4, which is nearly as good as these high end brands. The color is peachy-pink with a slight shimmer; looks subtle and lovely on my medium olive skin. Certainly not as pigmented as a Nars blush, but similar to a MAC sheertone in a light neutral color (i.e. Cheek, Tenderling). So, buy this if you see it, and buy several if you can get it for $2 like some people have!

Lip Gloss -MAC - Plushglass in Power Supply
Lisainsf 2/23/2008 1:58:00 PM
I have a love-hate relationship with lip gloss, and especially MAC glosses. I tend to love them at first and then lose interest soon after. With Power Supply, I found one that I actually use! Color is a reddish rose pink with gold shimmer, very nice by itself, over MAC Spice it Up, other reds, or over any pink shade. Shows up well but is not dark or dramatic. It has a little bit of spice flavor (cinnamon?) which I like. It does not last as long as Chanel glosses, but more than most other kinds. Would buy again. If you're a gloss fan, you should definitely give this a try.
