Hair -L'Oreal - Elnett Hairspray

I like that this hairspray does not leave a tacky residue. It really provides a touchable, flexible hold. Perhaps a little too flexible....I think I need a little more hold to be really convinced but I like the lack of residue that you get with some other brands. The container is tall, so while it is expensive (nearly $20 NZ) it seems to be value for money. However the thing making me want to finish it quickly and move to something else is, most unfortunately, the very strong scent. It is strange...reminds me of bread...no, hot crossed buns....it's spicy and heady and I don't like it at all. It clashes with and ruins whatever perfume I am wearing and I don't like smelling it wafting past my head. Admittedly, as with any scent, it does dry down to something a little subtler, but I still don't love it. It's what I consider an old-fashioned scent and its not me at all.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Warm Vanilla Sugar - Fragrance Mist
rated 4 of 5
Limwen 3/10/2013 4:01:00 AM

I ordered this fragrance having no idea how it smelled. I was attracted to the name and the fact you can't buy it in my country. I love gourmand scents, especially candy scented ones, vanillas, chocolates, musks so knew this one would be a winner. Here's the verdict: at first I was disappointed. It didn't smell like its name, to me. Much more floral to my olfactory senses! However, I gave it a chance and it has grown on me and now I love it! I still don't think the name matches the scent, in my opinion...as to me it's much more floral than, well, sugary. Vanilla is definitely there but I don't think sugar when I smell it. I didn't think it lasted long but perhaps that was to my nose as a colleague walked into our office at work and remarked about the lovely scent around my desk. So that's a good thing! The mist bottle is absolutely huge and will last me ages. Hopefully I can get through it before the scent denatures. I'm sure I will, though, as its lovely.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel

I was given this intriguing scent as a gift. It is so complex, I am still unsure whether I like it or not! Upon the first spray, it is redolent of candy floss...then as it dries down, it's complexity is revealed. Others have described it in previous reviews better than I could. You have to go easy on it as it is very strong. I think, overall, it is a little too mature for me...and I'm in my thirties. I think if the candy notes remained, I'd be more keen on it as I lean more towards sweeter scents and this is, we'll, not really all that sweet and candy like after dry down. I use it only when I'm feeling daring and even then I mist it into the air and walk through it. The bottle, while pretty and unique, bugs me as it doesn't stand up, but sort of lolls around next to all my upright bottles. So I remain unsure about it overall. I'll use it....but only on occasion and sparingly at that.

Conditioner -Clairol - Herbal Essences - Deep Moisturizing for Damaged/Coloured Hair
rated 5 of 5
Limwen 2/9/2013 2:42:00 AM

While at the supermarket, this product caught my eye and immediately remembered the memorable scent. Im on a budget at the moment so was dreading somewhat having to fork out the usual sixty dollars for my salon set of shampoo and conditioner. So, I thought I'd revisit this old favourite. I'm in love once again! My hair ( dry, long, layered, coloured, daily flat ironed, generally tortured and split) is reborn! It is shiny, frizz free and sits so beautifully. This even makes it look longer, which may be an illusion, but I think it does, its sitting that much better. It smells gorgeous, too. I keep reading that this got discontinued but there it is, on our supermarket shelves! I hope it's there forever as it is simply marvellous!

Blush -Natio - Natio Blusher in Rouge Glow
rated 3 of 5
Limwen 1/20/2013 8:11:00 PM

The colour is lovely - very rosy and the slight shimmer adds subtle dewiness. I find it blends easily and well and looks natural and gives a fresh, flushed cheek. However, after a few hours post-application, I find it can settle into my pores in a few places, looking like I've got dark pink tiny circles in places - or pink pores! Not everywhere, just in a couple of places. Maybe it's just my skin/pores but it's enough to put me off buying it again - a shame as it looks lovely when it is fresh.

Fragrances -MOR - Marshmallow

I have this in the perfume oil form in the roller ball bottle. I adore it. I love the sweet Turkish delight scent...musk is in there but a sweet, powdery musk. I do have to put quite a bit of the oil on to get the scent to last but when it do, it does, but subtly so. The wee oil bottle is very pretty with a gold lid and lacy pink, classic patterns on the bottle itself. The bottle is glass. I paid around $25 NZ for this so quite reasonable, I think. I'd like to get the lotion and powder so I can layer the scent. Definitely a keeper! Delicious!

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Lip Stain
rated 3 of 5
Limwen 12/26/2012 2:51:00 AM

I have this product in the shade 'Victorian', a mauvish rose colour. I like the inclusion of the balm, as lip stains are generally too drying to use alone, but this one isn't particularly moisturising for me. I paint this on evenly and like how you can build up the depth of colour...and then lightly apply the balm. I find that it looks good for a little while and then sadly it wears off...too quickly for my liking and I'm left with no colour on the lips except lines around the edges as though I am only wearing unblended lip liner. I don't like this look at all! I'll finish it but am unsure whether I will repurchase.

Treatments -Joico - K-PAK RevitaLuxe
rated 5 of 5

My hair is dark brown, long, frizz-prone and heat-tortured. It recently underwent a bleaching disaster and is in recovery. This product, like the rest of the wonderful ones in this range, came to my rescue. My hair feels stronger, softer and less damaged. I love it and will always turn to it for hair rescuing!

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Ultra Color
rated 4 of 5
Limwen 11/15/2012 3:12:00 AM

I use this in Iced Chestnut 4.15. I love the colour (and shine) when it goes on but the downside is the quick fade after several washes. The colour is rich and dark with a slight chestnut - but subtle - no major red-throwing going on, here. I don't think the colour is any more 'wow' than the standard Nutrisse colours, though. The smell isn't too overpowering and it processes quickly in my dry hair. I love it, I just wish it lasted longer!!

Conditioner -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Conditioner
rated 2 of 5
Limwen 10/12/2012 11:57:00 PM

The saleslady talked me into this and I was really tempted by the lovely, natural ingredients and the fact is it supposedly for dry hair. I have long, dyed, brown, dry/break-prone wavy-frizzy hair that I straighten every day - so it needs a lot of love! The only think I like about this conditioner (and its matching shampoo) is the lovely clean scent it imparts and the nice, natural ingredients. I find I have to use a lot of this conditioner but even when rinsing, it does not de-tangle enough. It's hard to get out of the bottle, too. My hair does not feel soft and looks, well, scruffy. Even after my usual styling routine. It also gets quite oily very quickly and I've had to go from washing every second day, to every day with this product. I'll finish it as I hate to waste things but I can't wait to go back to my usual Joico. Will not buy again.

Treatments -L'Oreal - YOUTH CODE LUMINIZE Super Serum
rated 4 of 5
Limwen 9/26/2012 3:58:00 PM

I am almost two weeks into using this product. Initial reaction: Product feel: Very light, pearlescent, silicon-y-feel to it. Seems slightly heavier than a standard serum but still lovely to use. How my skin feels: I have sensitive skin so was wary at first but after a couple of days of relatively minor breakouts as my skin adjusted I am now happy with this product. My skin feels quite velvety-soft, now, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it really does help to mask some blotchiness immediately after application. Amount used: I have read that some people only use one pump worth per application but I need one pump per 'face section' but I have slightly drier skin. Luminosity/blemish zapping: It gives my skin a slightly 'dewy' look, which is nice. I have yet to see how effective it is on banishing blemishes and darker spots so will post an update on this later. Scent: Fresh and not at all overwhelming. Packaging: Attractive and i love the glass bottle - very stylish and a pleasure to use. The pump is easy to operate and has a shut-off for traveling. I'll keep using it as it's quite luxurious and generally a pleasure to use. :)

Conditioner -Joico - K-Pak Reconstruct Daily Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
Limwen 4/26/2012 5:30:00 AM

This is a brilliant product and I can't wait to buy more! I used this with its matching shampoo in the hope it would help my poor, tortured hair that had gone from bleached blonde to dark brown. I have noticed a huge improvement in my hair. It is much more manageable and split ends are significantly fewer!! One of the best products I have ever used.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
Limwen 2/12/2012 12:48:00 AM

This is the best eyeliner I have ever used! The smooth, gel formula glides on and it is so easy to get a smooth line and accurate, sharp wings/corner flicks. It lasts well, too, requiring only a slight top up if I need it to look great into the evening. The little pot is nice and it's going to last ages as a little certainly goes a long way (highly pigmented). The only change I would make is to the brush - it needs some sort of protective cap. Otherwise, I love it!

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
rated 5 of 5
Limwen 2/11/2012 6:27:00 PM

I wholly endorse this wonderful cream. My skin tends towards dry and I have found this is the perfect base for my foundation. Not too oily and not too lacking in the moisture department. Perfect! I use it all over - face, hands, body. It is the perfect thickness, creamy and absorbs very quickly. It has a lovely, fresh scent. This is a staple in my makeup bag.

Hair Styling Tools -GHD - IV Styler (all sizes)
rated 5 of 5
Limwen 2/1/2012 10:48:00 PM

This is the gold standard in straightening irons. I have used ghd for years and would never, ever use anything else. Prior to ghd I had a Remington which simply did not compare. I have naturally frizzy, dry, kinked, crazy, flyaway hair and my ghds can tame it into sleek submission very quickly! They last years and years, too! My ghds are part of my life!
