Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Devita Daily Solar Protective Moisturizer spf 30

Overall, I'm happy with this product. I have always used Oil of Olay Complete SPF15 and liked it. Based on many things I have read however, I wanted to switch to a physical sunscreen, preferably without a lot of silicones and certain other additives. This Devita product satisfies that desire and actually goes on very similarly to the Oil of Olay. It is lightweight, smooth, and doesn't leave a white cast. I'm a little disturbed about not being to verify its SPF properties however (Devita calls it a "30" but NOT "SPF 30" -- they haven't done the testing required to certify its true SPF number). But, I plan to continue to use it.

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers
rated 4 of 5

Overall, I like this product. I use the Nutmeg shade. Pros: price, nice subtle shimmer, nice/natural tint, natural ingredients, minty freshness; Cons: doesn't last long, no sun protection. I will purchase again because when I look in the mirror, it slightly enhances my appearance for very little money.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
rated 2 of 5
LilLoco 6/28/2007 2:56:00 PM

I just couldn't seem to apply properly or to match my color. I am very yellow-skinned, but the light was too light and the medium/darker colors weren't yellow enough. I really like the idea of mineral makeup, but it seemed to rub off embarrasingly onto others when I would give a hello or goodbye hug. It also emphasized pores that I didn't realize I even had. I'm not much of a makeup user, so it all may be due to my inexperience and inability to apply correctly, but I'm done experimenting and will not repurchase.

Cleansers -Burt's Bees - Orange Essence Facial Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
LilLoco 6/28/2007 2:42:00 PM

This product does indeed seem to take makeup off (I don't wear much however), but I won't repurchase. Strong scent of orange, which is ok. I've tried starting on a wet face and a dry one, but I never feel clean afterwards. I feel like there is a film left when I rinse my face, and I feel I have a dirty washcloth if I rinse with a washcloth. I don't hate it, but I prefer a different feeling of clean after cleansing.

CD/Books/Movies -Lauren Hutton - Face Disc Instructional DVD and VHS
rated 5 of 5
LilLoco 6/28/2007 2:12:00 PM

This DVD/VHS tape does exactly what it needs to do. It explains slowly and clearly how to use each product in the Face Disk. Lauren Hutton uses herself as the instructor and model, starting with a clean face and putting each product on one-by-one. It came with the disk (not a separate purchase), so hard to evaluate "price" or "would you buy this product again." However, her website sells the DVD separately for $10.00, which seems reasonable.

Blush -Lauren Hutton - Aqua Elements Loose Mineral Blush
rated 5 of 5
LilLoco 4/24/2007 4:16:00 PM

I really liked this product. I have tried several mineral powder blushes, but they all had too much pigment and would not look natural on me -- even when I used very little, blended a lot, used skunk brush, etc. As a more mature woman who doesn't use or like the look of too much makeup, this is the first blush I would repurchase. I do agree that the packaging could be better, less messy.

Moisturizers -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - Universal Anti-Aging Moisturizer PM
rated 3 of 5
LilLoco 4/24/2007 4:05:00 PM

I was unimpressed by this product. It came in a kit from BBW, so reasonableness of price was hard to judge. I don't feel it did anything for me. It was a lotion for night use -- it didn't cause any problems, but it didn't seem to have any advantages either. I would not repurchase.

Scrubs -Patricia Wexler MD Dermatology - Resurfacing Microbrasion System with skin regenerating MMPi technolog
rated 4 of 5
LilLoco 4/24/2007 3:58:00 PM

I agree with the majority of reviewers here. The scrub particles are so small and fine, I get the smooth skin without a lot of mess or irritation. I'm not sure I'm getting any benefit from the Step 2 hydrator, so I wish I could purchase the two steps separately. If you want mechanical exfoliation that is gentle, I'd recommend this product.

Moisturizers -Dr. Denese - Wrinkle Defense Day Cream SPF 30
rated 4 of 5
LilLoco 4/23/2007 3:46:00 PM

At first I was very disappointed with this product. As explained on TV, the color blended in fine with my skin. But it was much, much thicker (almost paste-like) than I was expecting. I have always used thinner moisturizers/sunscreens (such as Oil of Olay) that are lotions. I set it aside and didn't use it for awhile, then decided to use it for my Sunday morning hikes just not to waste it. Wow, my face looked lovely on Sundays! I now use it everyday. It adds just the tiniest bit of matte coverage so my skin looks very even-toned and vibrant. As I have dry skin, I often use a touch of emu oil underneath as it sometimes doesn't moisturize as much as I'd prefer. I like the fact that it has UVA (zinc oxide) and UVB protection (SPF30), and that I don't have to worry about matching color since it uses natural human pigment (melanin). This makes it useful whether I have more tan or less. I wish it were a little thinner, but all-in-all I like it and will repurchase.

Skincare - Face -Dr. Denese - HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum
rated 3 of 5
LilLoco 4/16/2007 3:32:00 PM

This was a very nothing-special product. Felt fine going on -- a little thick, but I don't think the thickness translated into moisturizing. At a low price, I don't think I would repurchase because I don't see where it did anything, but at its high price I definitely will not repurchase.

Skincare - Face -Dr. Denese - Microdermabrasion Cream
rated 3 of 5
LilLoco 4/5/2007 1:28:00 PM

A very average product. It does make the skin feel much smoother after use, and I had no problems with irritation. This was the first microdermabrasion product that I tried, and I originally thought it was great. But I have now tried Dr. Wexler's microdermabrasion cream, and the difference is amazing. Dr. Denese's cream is much, much coarser (and feels more abrasive). Could be because Dr. Denese's product is designed for use 1-2 times per week, but Dr. Wexler's product is designed more gently for daily use. I will not repurchase, but it wasn't bad.
