Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
Lexieberry 10/6/2010 7:08:00 PM
I actually really like this mascara! It's 1) affordable, 2) effective, and 3)waterproof!! I picked up the Falsies in the brownish black shade for about $7 iirc, and have been pleased with the results. I have long lashes to begin with, but this just amplifies and defines them. I do about 2 coats for everyday wear, and maybe 4 coats for going out at night, and they look so plush and like the name implies, like falsies! The only downfall I would say would be the tendency for this mascara to slightly clump if not applied quickly...but its a great product and I'll be trying the black shade next time for even more dramatic lashes!

I love this bubblegum-pink blush! The quality, consistency, pigmentation, and application is comparible to that of high-end brands. I was on the hunt for a perfect pink blush and I found it with NYX 'Pinky'. Found at my local HEB for only $5usd, its really a fantastic deal!!

Eyes -Lancome - Oscillation Powerbooster Primer
Lexieberry 11/3/2009 6:13:00 PM
I had this sitting in my makeup drawer for months. Just sitting there, never getting any attention. Fast forward to two weeks ago, when I have excess time on my hands before going to work. I decided to give it a spin. Wow~what have I been missing out on? This primer makes my lashes so much fuller and volumous (sp?) that after I apply my normal mascara (Rimmell Glam Eyes), my lashes look kinda fake! I already have thick, dark lashes, but this just makes them live up to their fullest potential, if that makes any sense. Packaging is interesting, to say the least. The vibrating effect probably isn't necessary, really....come on...But it's a big selling point with Lancome lately. Hear about their new vibrating foundation? lol....anyways, application is a breeze, I just apply it on my lashes. It coats the lashes with its white formula and I let it 'set' for about a minute before applying my regular mascara. All in all, a 4.5 rating. The price point, of course, brings the rating down. But at around $45usd, you'll be pleasantly suprised with how transformed your lashes will appear!

Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs in Light Glow
Lexieberry 9/28/2009 11:54:00 AM
I just feel compelled to share my opinion on this awesome product with the hopes that it helps some others out there who deal with the same issue as I. Okay, lets begin: I purchased SH Airbrush Legs in Light Glow (the waterproof formula) after reading the many glowing (pun intended) reviews from other MUAer's. The idea of having legs that appear less-flawed and with the subtle shimmer of pantyhose, sans pantyhose, peaked my interest instantly. Nobody likes wearing pantyhose in the summer, especially in South Texas where the added humidity makes for some intense beauty/fashion-related misery. I recently landed a great job at a bar/restaurant where, of course, the uniform is a dress that reveals yes, most all of my legs. Now, I am half hispanic/anglo and I have the fair skintone and darker body hair. Horray, right? Not. So whenever I shave, I still have the subtle 'spots' or sometimes redness/irritation from daily razor sessions. Honestly, my legs would look fine, but who doesn't want smoother, sleeker legs in an instant. SH Airbrush Legs applies in a snap. I spray directly onto my legs, and rub it in quickly and evenly. I touch up areas by applying the product directly into my hands and mix with some lotion. I never have the problem of streaking like I've gotten from self-tanning products. I absolutley love the glow and natural finish this gives my legs.In the sunlight you can def see the shimmer of the 'pantyhose-like' finish. They look fab! Yes, its a somewhat messy process when spraying in your bathroom, but just lay down a towel, and you're covered. I feel more confident, have even more confidence in my physical self, and hence, have gotten more tips. At around $11usd a can at my HEB store, its a total HG product in my book. Okay, rave over! HTH someone =)

Treatments -Garnier - Fructis 3 Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment Triple Nutritrion
Lexieberry 9/12/2009 12:15:00 PM
This Garnier deep conditioning treatment has worked wonders on my hair! My hair is long (mid-back length), color-treated, and prone to split ends. I use heated tools in my hair almost daily such as blow-dryer, flat-iron, and ocassionally hot rollers. So yes, my hair puts up with alot. So, after rinsing out my usual shampoo, I apply about a half-dollar sized amount and focus it on my ends and sparingly up to the root. After 3 minutes, I rinse it out and my hair is so very soft~ and it smells heavenly! The best part of all of this is when it comes to brushing out my hair, the process is so much easier. Usually it takes an army of detangling spray and leave-in conditioner to brush my defiant hair out, but not after I use Garniers Undo Dryness treatment. I'm definitley going to repurchase and recommend to anyone who wants to make their strands smoother, and healthier!

Powder -Milani - Minerals Compact Makeup
Lexieberry 8/1/2009 6:18:00 PM
This is a great pressed mineral foundation! And its super inexpensive at around $7usd for a generous amount of product. I currently alternate between two other foundations, and find that Milani Minerals Compact Makeup works best as a touch up powder throughout the day, and for mattifying my skin when it gets a bit oily. I really find that this foundation makes my skin look so much more even when applied lightly over my L'Oreal Bare Naturale foundation on the trouble spots (around nose and any blemishes). I use the lightest shade, Nude Buff, which is a pretty good match for me. The color selection is really lacking though, as there is maybe 4 other shades available. The packaging could be improved, as it is a bit clunky with its dual plastic compartments. The mirror is large, a plus, but the sponge applicator that comes with, is very low quality and the backing fell apart right when I used it for the first time. I find that using my Pur Minerals Chisel brush allows me to build up coverage and work the powder into my skin evenly!

Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
Lexieberry 6/30/2009 11:36:00 AM
I'm so thankful for MUA and the honest reviews! I recently purchased a ceramic flat iron and was looking for a heat protectant spray (and on a budget). This Tresseme Heat Tamer spray is amazing!! I simply spritz lightly, concentrating on the lower half of my hair, and brush. Then I am free to iron my hair. This leaves my hair soft, silky, and w/out stickiness or scent. I don't need anything that costs $$, I'm sold on this $4 spray!!! =D

Lips -Fusion Beauty - LipFusion Lip Plump Color Shine - Kiss
Lexieberry 6/8/2009 7:55:00 PM
This is my second Lip Fusion purchase. I picked up 'Kiss' in TJMaxx the other day for about $8. I would describe 'Kiss' as a true hot-pink with very fine gold shimmer throughout. Actually, I was expecting it to apply a lot more pigmented, but it is actually a very subtle pink on the lips that doesn't go OTT. This actually dissapointed me, as I wanted a hot pink, lol. But nonetheless, this is a great lip plumper. Don't expect a huge difference inb the volume of your lips, but it does help amp them up and fill in any lines. There is no stinging, but rather a slight warmth to tell you that its working. Consistency is great~not too sticky or thin. It even smells pleasant! 4.5 lippies!

Lipstick -Sonia Kashuk - Luxury Lip Color in Floweret
Lexieberry 5/20/2009 4:39:00 PM
'Floweret' is a gorgeous shade of rich apricot with no distracting shimmer or excessive shine. It is so difficult to describe because I haven't come across many other shades to compare it to. Sonia Kashuk Luxury Lip Colors are fantastic. Their rich, creamy moisturizing consistency leaves my lips feeling great while the intense pigmentation adds the perfect splash of color. 'Floweret' is the perfect year round shade. It's hard to not make it work with any given time of the year. Since it is already in the 90's right now in South Texas, I love pairing this shade with some tinted moisturizer, bronzer, and a swipe of earthy-toned shadow. This lipcolor just gives the right hit of color. 'Floweret' definitley isn't for the faint of heart, I must say. When I describe it as apricot, I mean a darker red-orange. It really reminds me of a vintage lipcolor that you'd see those 1950's era starlets wearing. Very classic, very functional, very flirty! I love it!!!!

Lips -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain - 430 Coy Coral
Lexieberry 5/5/2009 9:01:00 PM
Cover Girl really made a great product with 'Coy Coral'. It is a vivid shade of orange/raspberry coral in a matte finish~it's a lip stain. My only gripe with it is the marker format. It takes a little practice to achieve an even product on the lips, but once you got it, it looks amazing. I layer Cliniques Impossibly Glossy 'Grape Sorbet' over Coy Coral, and Oh my, it looks so fresh and vibrant!

Misc Beauty Tools -Sonia Kashuk - Blending Sponge
Lexieberry 4/28/2009 5:34:00 PM
This little purple sponge has got to be the greatest beauty purchase of the year for me. I picked up SK Blending Sponge for $9.99 at Target the other day on impulse. I am a devout mineral foundation user, but I have been really vying for a more natural 'dewy' finish that liquid foundations tend to give my skin. So, I tried it out~not expecting anything great, but I have got to say that I am impressed! This silly looking sponge applies my concealer and foundation flawlessly. I first wash, tone, and moisturize. Then I dampen the sponge, remove excess water, apply dabs of foundation on my skin, and then begin working the foundation into my face with the wider end of the sponge. I use the tip to work the concealer and foundation into the corners of my nose, around the eye area, and for more intense coverage around my cheeks. After a quick minute or so, my skin looks 100x better than it would have if I used a standard sponge, brush, or my fingers. It gives me an airbrushed look, and the foundation doesn't accentuate any dry patches I may have. I also make sure to wash it after each use with a good cleanser and allow to air dry. What a great product!!! 5 lippies!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Vanilla
Lexieberry 4/27/2009 10:02:00 PM
So, I finally caved in and purchased MAC Vanilla Pigment. And I must say, I am completley pleased with it! I was really looking for a versatile highlighter to add to my collection. All the other highlighters I had tried failed to live up to their hype. MAC's 'Vanilla' is a soft, medium-sheer creme beige with a sheer gold backbone. This combination works wonders on my fair skintone. I use it as an everyday browbone shade along with other shadows, and on my cheekbones as a *perfect* highlighter. 'Vanilla' gives my skin that dewy and natural finish I was yearning for. It picks up just the right amount of light when used properly. Basically, it's that healthy glow from the inside that I was craving for all along in a cosmetic product!! The jar is enormous and will last me for ages. At $19, this is definitley worth every penny. I look forward to venturing into more of MAC's pigment collection!

Highlighters -Revlon - Pure Confection Highlighting Face Powder [DISCONTINUED]
Lexieberry 4/25/2009 11:50:00 PM
A great drugstore highlighter!! I picked up Revlon's 'Pure Confection' at my HEB from a LE display. I really love MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighters, but I certainly do not like their pricetags. At $5.95, I was able to come to a *very* close dupe of MAC's 'Lightscapade'....'Pure Confection' is a lovely blend of a creamy beige with frosty pink viens. It never looks garish or over the top. I use my cheapie Elf bronzing brush to pick up just the right amount of product and apply it at the top of my cheekbones. I just love the dewy, fresh finish it gives my skin! Rating: 4.5

Lipstick -Almay - Ideal Lip Color
Lexieberry 4/24/2009 8:50:00 PM
Like the poster before me, I also picked this up at my Dollar Store! Already content with my Almay Ideal Lip Color in 'Pink', didn't hesitate to pick up 'Red'. I have been looking for a true blue-red, and Almays 'Red' fits the bill. But this particular shade does have some gold shimmer in it, but it all looks good to me. The Ideal Lip Color formulas are incredibly moisturizing and refreshing (peppermint). I apply this, pat excess off with a tissue, and seal with some clear lip gloss. This gives me a simple, red lip that finishes like a stain!!! It is a simple, classic shade that would work well with all skintones, imo... And it won't wear away unevenly like many stains do. Overall, I am very happy with my super-bargain lippie! =)

Powder -Pur Minerals - Pressed Powder Foundation
Lexieberry 4/2/2009 10:13:00 PM
This is a great medium to heavy coverage foundation for acne-prone skin! I purchased a Pur Minerals starter kit before Christmas time for a steal~about $10. This included the full-sized foundation, Chisel Brush, Mascara, and some makeup removing wipes. Not bad, eh? Well, I never got around to even opening the box until earlier this week. Yes, I know. Let me begin by saying that I am a devout mineral foundation user. I look for a foundation that gives me medium coverage in a natural finish. My skin is combination/acne-prone and occasionally dry in all the stubborn places~around the nose, mouth, and sometimes cheek area. I had been using L'Oreal Bare Naturale foundation daily, and to a pleasant reception. I just like to keep my options open in regards to foundation choices. Now, back to Pur Minerals foundation. I'm glad I opted for the 'Light' kit which definitley was the right choice for me. I've gotten to the point where I can just look at a foundation and see if it is gonna work for me. The 'Light' shade has the yellow/beige undertones which is what I need, rather than the rosy/pink undertones. After a few trial and error test runs with Pur Minerals Pressed Foundation, I have found a perfect way to achieve a natural and ideal finish on my delicate skin. First, I wash with my daily cleanser, apply my toner, and proceed to moisturize with my daily spf lotion. After 5 minutes or so, I use a couple spritzes of MAC Fix+, to give my skin an extra boost of moisture. This step also helps allow the mineral foundation a smooth, hydrated canvas to begin. Yes, the chisel brush is great! I swirl the chisel brush into the foundation, tap off the excess into the lid, and apply in short circular motions on my skin. Boy, this covers acne, redness, and uneven skintones in an instant! Sure, a touch of concealer is needed afterwards sometimes on those stubborn zits that defy all logic and sanity. After applying the foundation all-over, I spritz my MAC Fix+ a couple of times. This sets everything together, and helps give that 'dewy' finish. I haven't had any irritation or breakouts. You know how sometimes mineral foundations tend to make skin itch? Not this! I am completely excited about the possibilities with this foundation. I know it's only been a few days, but I feel an extra boost of confidence regarding my skin. I am happy as a clam.
