Gels/Soaps -Suave - Limited Edition Seasonals Guava Passion Flower Body Wash
rated 5 of 5

This is a new favorite. What I smell when I use it is a strong hit of citrusy berry. It lathers well and a 12 oz bottle is less than $2, so it's a bargain. I hope Suave will make this part of their regular line, because I think it's one of their best scents.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Petites Nail Polish in Pink Suede
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 5/26/2012 7:30:00 PM

I love Petite polishes because they're just enough polish - I can never use a whole bottle of regular sized polish before it thickens - and it's super cheap - around $1.50 at Wal-Mart. I picked up Pink Suede because I thought it'd be a good neutral polish and not show chips, and that's exactly what it does. Two coats gives a pinky, nude tone that has a slightly cool undertone and shimmer in the light. Very flattering color and definitely one I'll use a lot.

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Watermelon Ice Lip Smacker Sparkler
rated 4 of 5
LaurentEsq 4/27/2012 7:33:00 PM

This lip gloss is a very basic light pink gloss with an artifical watermelon smell and light silver sparkle. I do like it for what it is, though. As I said, the smell is very artificial, but it's unmistakably fruity and the texture is creamy and not sticky. Actually, I bought this to replace my Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Born With It. It's a close dupe for MUCH less money. I think I got this for under $2 whereas the Maybelline was over $6. I don't think they're all duplicates, but there's only so many ways you can do a light pink gloss that has minimal color. I like this, and even though it's marketed to teens, I think anyone can wear it. I'll buy again.

Polishes -Essie - Fiji
rated 2 of 5
LaurentEsq 4/27/2012 6:50:00 PM

This is a beautiful pale pink in the bottle, but it does not apply smoothly at all. It streaks horribly and even with 3 coats I could not get it smooth, but did manage to make it so thick that it wouldn't dry properly. I imagine only true professionals or those extremely talented at applying polish could make this look right. If Essie could get the formula worked out on this one I would buy it again, because the color is beautiful.

Gels/Soaps -Suave - Everlasting Sunshine
rated 4 of 5
LaurentEsq 4/14/2012 3:00:00 PM

On the bottle, this body wash says it contains passion flower and vanilla extracts. Somewhat oddly, the Suave website compares it to Bath & Body Works Pearberry Shower Gel. I expected it to be very similar to Bath & Body Works' Forever Sunshine, which is supposed to smell like apricot, peonies and praline, but mostly I detect a sweet vanilla, slightly caramel scent with an underlay of flowers. It's a gel that lathers well and the light scent lingers on your skin a bit after you bathe with it, but not strong enough to interfere with perfume or fragrance. I think I would've preferred this had Suave made it one of their creamy body washes and given it a bit more moisture, but I like this and will probably buy again.

Polishes -Essie - To Buy or Not to Buy
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 4/13/2012 10:26:00 PM

Essie calls this a lavender with shimmer and it is. As with most of Essie polishes (Fiji being a notable exception), it goes on like a dream and goes days without chips. This color is part of their Spring 2012 Collection and I hope it's one they keep in their line. Probably because it's so new, I was unable to find it at Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, or Rite Aid yet, but I'm hoping those stores will pick it up and carry it because I will definitely buy again.

Moisturizers -Equate - Face & Neck Cream Advanced Firming & Anti-Wrinkle
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 3/9/2012 6:25:00 PM

This is the knock-off of L'Oreal Advanced Revitalift Face & Neck Day Cream Anti-Wrinkle & Firming Moisturizer. It's equally as good as the L'Oreal, in my opinion. It has a scent that some people may be sensitive to, but it does not bother me. The product comes in a glass jar, which seems a bit unsanitary and I would prefer it in a pump bottle. The cream is rich and moisturizing, though. My neck is the main area I use this and it's keeping it well hydrated. The product runs between $7 & $8 at Wal-Mart. I may try something else next time, but I expect that I will buy this again.

Blush -Cover Girl - Classic Color in Iced Plum
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 8/26/2011 2:23:00 PM

Iced Plum is more hot pink than plum, but it's very flattering on cool toned skin. I'm fair and it's very pigmented on me - a little goes a long way. I like the classic color blushes better than CG cheekers blushes because there is much more product and it's easier to get to with your brush. The packaging is very basic with no bells and whistles and actually takes a little bit of assembly, but it's very easy and nothing that can't be figured out. As with a lot of CG products, this blush is highly scented with the Noxzema smell. It doesn't bother me, but it's something to keep in mind.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational High Shine 820 Mauvilous Shine
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 8/21/2011 1:12:00 PM

I'm loving this lipstick so far. Mauvilous Shine is MLBB exactly. The High Shine formula isn't really shiny like a lip gloss, but it does look moisurizing like a lip balm. I usually wear a balm under my lipstick but it's optional with this lipstick. The packaging looks rich and sleek and the product swivels down far enough that the top doesn't take off the top of the lipstick. This is a definite winner and I'll be repurchasing as long as Maybelline keeps it around.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lip Gloss - Born With It - 015
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 10/9/2010 9:30:00 PM

Born With It is a light pinky color that shows up as a nude pink on my fair, cool skin. The undertone appears to be silver and it has just a bit of shimmer in it. The tube is clear and the wand is a sponge, doe foot applicator. The consistency of these glosses is phenominal - very smooth and glossy. It's not overly sticky and the scent is light and inoffensive - I can't quite peg it, but it's not vanilla, maybe a light fruit smell. These are surprisingly cheap (around $6 at Wal-Mart, I believe) for the quality. I don't know that there are any other colors in this line that I could pull off, but I will repurchase this one.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Pink Chiffon
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 10/9/2010 1:27:00 PM

A staple for me. I use this under my browbone and in the corners of my eyes every single day as a highlighting shade and it's perfection. The consistency is so smooth and easy to apply. When Cover Girl gets a shadow right, they really nail it and this is one of them. I would say that this is the highlighting shadow shade for cooler tones and the Champagne is for the warmer ones. Champagne on me is much too yellow and golden, but Pink Chiffon has a pink, lavender undertone to it with a bit of shimmer (no glitter!) that's great.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Superstay Lipcolor - Rose - 740
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 2/3/2010 4:06:00 PM

The Superstay line is a far superior product to the other drugstore longwear lipsticks I've tried. The lipcolor is a smooth medium pink with a cool undertone and a slight watermelon scent. The companion lip balm is very moisturizing. 16 hours is pushing it; however, this lipcolor did stay on the better part of the day. I would purchase again.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Amazemint - Everything's Rosy
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 2/3/2010 12:06:00 PM

I reach for this gloss almost daily - it seems to be my go-to lipgloss. Everything's Rosy is a medium, rosy pink with silver undertones. It looks great on fair, cool toned complexions - especially when paired with a rose blush.

Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Fresh Look Pressed Powder ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
LaurentEsq 1/31/2010 9:11:00 PM

Cover Girl is changing and totally discontinuing some of their colors in this line. One of the colors being discontinued is Translucent Fair, the lightest color in the range. Translucent Fair is exactly what it claims - a translucent, very light pressed powder that doesn't add any oil to oily/combination skin. The puff that comes with it isn't very good, but I apply it with either a sponge or fluffy powder brush. The Cover Girl website recommends that people using Translucent Fair should try the new color Classic Ivory; however, I know from the same color in the liquid foundation, that the Classic Ivory shade is a warm shade with yellow undertones. It's way too warm and dark for anyone who uses Cover Girl Ivory liquid foundation like I do. There is now no companion pressed powder to go with the Ivory liquid foundation, so if you used Translucent Fair, snap it up, because it's getting hard to find. I don't know why Cover Girl is discontinuing some of their best products under the guise of "streamlining" the brand, but it's ill conceived. I'm going to have to move on to another brand now, because Classic Ivory just isn't going to cut it for me. I hope Cover Girl realizes this is a mistake and either brings back Translucent Fair or comes out with an Ivory pressed powder shade to accomodate their fairest customers with cool undertones.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Outlast Double LipShine - Rose Quartz - 215
rated 3 of 5
LaurentEsq 1/29/2010 3:25:00 PM

Rose Quartz is a cool medium pink with silver undertones. The lip color is beautiful in the tube, but came out a bit brighter than expected. It is applied with a doe-foot applictor and must be applied thinly and evenly for it to look good. The clear gloss is slightly vanilla scented (much more subtle than the scent in Wetslicks) and is applied with a brush. Overall, the color payoff was not true to the tube color, but it wasn't frightening. It looked frostier than anticipated. The color lasts until you take it off, but the gloss has to be re-applied numerous times throughout the day. I'm not sure if I would buy this again. I checked yes, because there's nothing I really dislike about it, but I might check out some other brands before I try this again.
