Lipstick -Lime Crime - Candyfuture Lipstick - All Shades
rated 5 of 5

I have the shades "Retrofuturist" and "Serpentina", and they're my two new favorites. The colors are ultra-bold and don't fade, and there's slight feathering, but it can be controlled with a liner. I've never seen colors as beautiful as the two that I have, and I'm a lipstick junkie (Retrofuturist is EASILY my favorite red; I like it better than any of the MAC reds and may even like it better than my beloved old-formula Urban Decay Gash). The formula is creamy and soft and has a pleasant taste/smell. I was so upset when MAC and Urban Decay started getting shaky on their animal testing policy but in a way I'm grateful because it led me to buy this beautiful lipstick! The only thing I dislike about it is the tacky pink packaging, but it's solidly made, and I'm not wearing the tube, so whatever. Definite HG material. I can recommend it to my vegan friends too! I know there's been some controversy around this company's business practices, but as far as I can tell, they stopped their BS, and I can't champion *all* the causes at once. So relieved to have found such a great product that's kind to animals!

Lipstick -Lime Crime - Retrofuturist

My VERRRRRY favorite red lipstick! It is pigmented like WHOA and doesn't feather on me, at least not when I wear a lipliner. The shade is an insanely bold neon-red with enough blue that I can still wear it (I'm kind of a light olive, so oranges/warm reds make me green). It's overall a very forgiving shade for being so bright - it works on many of my friends too! I was so upset when MAC and Urban Decay started getting shaky on their animal testing policy (and Victoria's Secret discontinued their original Showstopper shade), but in a way I'm grateful because it led me to this beautiful lipstick! The only thing I dislike about it is the tacky pink packaging, but it's solidly made, and I'm not wearing the tube, so whatever. Definite HG material. I can recommend it to my vegan friends too! Eye Shadow -NYX - Love in Florence: Prima Donna
rated 4 of 5
LadyMedb 3/26/2013 2:35:00 AM

Excellent palette! I got "Prima Donna". The taupe and champagne shades could be a tiny bit more pigmented (though are still better than anything you could buy in a drugstore), but all the other colors are nice and bold (especially the matte plum), and none of the shades in this tray budge once on. The colors go easily from day to night, and will eliminate the gazillion things I carry around with me for doing my makeup on the go. What amazing quality makeup for such a low price - so many fancy department store blends don't come close to this color choice or payoff! I'd gladly buy again, or try another set!

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous - Iced Amethyst
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 3/9/2011 10:16:00 AM

Lovely color, and, as mentioned below, very creamy and nice texture - forgiving in the winter if lips get dry. It's a nice do-able purple, too - even for my pale olive skin, which is sometimes tricky to match. What takes this lipstick to a five, though, is that it BUILDS so beautifully. You can either have a purply shimmery glaze, or a dramatic and rich shiny violet. My go-to when I can't think what else to wear.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Twilight Woods Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
LadyMedb 1/8/2011 7:35:00 PM

Yummy yummy stuff. More "perfumy" (it's that musk) than I'd expect from a BBW product, and so I was worried my lotion would overpower my perfume of the day, but it settles down into a vanilla-y musk-y woody thing with the apricot and coconut noticeable, but by no means cloying. All the notes play well together. On a bigger budget, this might have been a high-end vision. As-is, it garners me many compliments. I agree with the Amber Romance comparison below - it's a little more nuanced and a bit lighter, with a little more throw. As far as the consistency goes, it's none too thick, but it still moisturizes quite well. It might be a little overpowering to put on the entire body if one is going to wear another perfume, but I wouldn't rule it out. Will definitely buy this again and experiment with other products form the line.

Hair Color -Amphigory - Special Effects in Virgin Rose
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 7/23/2010 4:12:00 PM

This is a bright yet deep raspberry color, and you don't really have to bleach to make it show up, so long as your hair isn't super-dark. Of course, bleaching makes it last longer than the 2 or so weeks it remains bright (it does stick around longer, as the previous reviewer noted - just not with the same oomph) on non-damaged hair, but reapplication isn't such a big deal with this one because it doesn't stain everything in sight like a lot of the other more color-rich Special Effects shades. This is a nice alternative to my usual Deep Purple when I'm feeling vivid and summery. :)

Fragrances -Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab - Euterpe
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 7/13/2010 8:16:00 AM

Euterpe is a beautiful, light lemony floral with just enough of that opium poppy to anchor it and make it sensuous. Love the carnation (there but not too sneezy) and the iris (which gives it body). The lemon note is very subtle and blends seamlessly with the honeysuckle, so it's not screaming washing-up liquid or fruity floral at me....just a lovely, light spring breeze with a song on it. It does take a whole bunch of it to show up on my skin, but that's OK. Love it! The boy loves it on me, too.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Deluxe Eyeshadow - Fishnet
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 12/25/2009 12:01:00 PM

I love this bright blue-sheen pink-purple! It's richly pigmented (much more so than MAC Stars and Rockets), and the texture feels velvety and luxurious going on. Makes my eyes look greener, blends like a dream. Love it, love it, love it.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - delicate petals
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 10/18/2009 8:26:00 PM

Love this - VS is finally coming out with some new Garden scents that don't smell like fruit punch! This is a light, pleasant rose, modernized in a Stella sort of way with the tangerine and musk, but girlier smelling. I have the hand cream and I put it on at work very often, and get a whole lot of compliments on it. Really a well-done rose for something so cheap. ETA - VS, why did you discontinue this? Why, why, why?? :(

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Beautiful Love
rated 3 of 5
LadyMedb 12/15/2007 9:20:00 PM

A little too sweet and fruity for me (am I smelling melons?), but otherwise surprisingly pretty, if generic. It might be nice for a family-ish formal event where you can't run around smelling too sexy.

Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Pleasures Delight
rated 2 of 5

Another sugared patchouli, Angel Lite. Yawn. What's interesting about it, though, is I can detect very little similarity to the other Pleasures, so that's at least a new thing.

Fragrances -Cartier - Le Baiser Du Dragon - Parfum
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 12/6/2007 12:53:00 PM

This is an absolutely beautiful perfume - incensy and spicy, with a sweet almond body to it and just a hint of floral. It's rich without being overpowering, but on the other hand it just screams hypnotic power and class. I'm totally in love with it, particularly because I don't think many people in my age group reach for it. It's mysterious, sexy, and just a little unusual. I love it.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam I - the original
rated 5 of 5
LadyMedb 11/28/2007 6:44:00 AM

Flawless deep blue-brown red, matte but not dry, stunningly sophisticated. I'm NC 20 give or take a tan, and it suits me beautifully, but has such neutral undertones that I've met few it doesn't flatter. Finally, all the money goes to an amazing cause. This is an unassailable lipstick - go buy it whether or not you love red, because it's the kind of thing you never knew you always needed!

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Uppity
rated 4 of 5
LadyMedb 11/28/2007 6:41:00 AM

This shows up just beautifully on me - it gives me that awesome tinfoil look! I wish it were a tiny bit easier to apply evenly, but it's certainly easier than a lot of the liquid eyeliners I own, and it has the added bonus of not irritating my lids. Gorgeous shade, too!
