Concealers -Chanel - Eclat Lumiere Highlighting Face Pen
KohlLinerRocks 8/10/2010 12:10:00 PM
I gave it a "2" because I am outraged at how little time it lasted! I used it sparingly and the result were ok but I just can't get over that the pen ran out so fast and there was no warning either. I feel like I should state that I love, love, love Chanel and have amassed a huge collection over the years - this is the first time I have ever given a low rating to one of their products. I just can't justfy the price for the longevity of the pen.

Eye Shadow -Kevyn Aucoin - Eye Essentials #4
KohlLinerRocks 1/2/2008 8:22:00 AM
I had been scouring the net "researching" KA makeup and finally took the 1.5 hour drive to the nearest counter so I could see the products in person...and the only question I ask myself now: "why did I wait so long to try KA????" I pretty much only use chanel so I was hesitant to branch out but lately I have been semi disappointed in chanel's quality, etc. I wanted to purchase Kevyn's palette #3 but it was sold out everywhere. So, I ended up buying palette #4 (also bought #5 but will review that later) First let me say that the colors in this palette go together so well that I could probably put these on in the dark and still be ok :) To my eye the colors are: a beigey-vanilla color; a white that has a slight violet tinge to it; a beautiful tan-ish, camel brown; a shimmery black and a shimmery olive. You can definitely get a lot of looks out of this palette. the two lighter colors look good as cheek highlighters also. The one thing that really impressed me is that I can wear these shadows w/o an e/s base!!! *gasp* - I wouldn't have believed it but it's true! I always wear a MAC paint as a base and just got sick of having to do the extra step - but my chanel e/s would always crease or fade. Not so with Kevyn Aucoin though - so I am thrilled that the colors stay true and don't fade...AT ALL! ME: NW25/chanel shell/black hair

Palettes -Chanel - Collection Essentielle De Chanel - Lumière Naturelle Multi-Use Makeup Palette (LE Holiday 2007)
KohlLinerRocks 12/9/2007 1:33:00 PM
I noticed that people were reviewing for *both* the naturelle and soleil under this heading so here goes...I bought the Soleil palette about a month ago and absolutely love it! I purchased the fly high palette on a trip to Europe a couple months ago and wasn't very impressed. That's why I was hesitant to drop $85 on the Soleil palette - boy, am I happy I did! The eyeshadows are buildable, blendable and gorgeous! The bronzer-blush looks perfect on and the lipstick colors (although I wish they were longer lasting) round out the palette for a phenomenal bronzey glow. You can pair this palette with just about any eyeliner color and it looks great: I normally rotate with Chanel kohl pencils in: noir, ambre and black jade. I originally bought it for travel only since I travel so much but have found myself reaching for it 3-4 times a week. I heard they will have another palette out (bronzes and greens) for summer and I can't wait to check that out :) NW25/Chanel Shell/Black hair

Palettes -Chanel - Collection Essentielle Multi-Use Makeup Palette
KohlLinerRocks 11/16/2007 1:07:00 PM
I really love this palette! I have it in the soleil version and find the colours to be very wearable and versatile. I am really happy that I didn't listen to the reviews on this one (no offense to the lovely ladies on MUA). I did not find the e/s to be chalky at all. In fact I found them to be very blendable with buildability and good colour payoff. The bronzer is the perfect colour for me and the lipsticks (while I wish they had more staying power) look very pretty on and really complete a healthy "bronze goddess" look. I travel a lot so I know this will come in handy for me. I pair it with either the black jade or noir kohl - I am going to try and pair it with the ambre kohl b/c I think that will look great also. I know that $85 is a steep price but I believe it was worth it To give you a point of reference, I also have the fly high palette and thought that those e/s were chalky so when I went to the counter to look at these holiday palettes, I went in skeptical :)

Eye Shadow -Chanel - 86 quad Garden Party
KohlLinerRocks 8/5/2007 12:26:00 PM
My mom surprised me and sent me this quad along with the lip palette a couple of weeks ago - thanks mom :) I have to say that I was sceptical of garden party from what I had been reading on the boards "chalky", "not pigmented enough", etc., etc. I held my breath when I first tried it and....it was GORGEOUS!!!! One of the best quads IMHO since fascination. The colors in garden party are beautiful - the rose isn't too red, the mint green looks fantastic when used wet, the peachy color gives just enough oomph and shimmer and the green!!! The green is a phenomenal color - it 's like a deep metallicy-shimmer color that looks so unique on. I have used it wet to line upper lashes and then I have also used it wet over the black jade kohl (which I already owned). I have also found that each of the colors in the quad are able to be mixed and matched with so many others - to give infinite possibilities. I will give one example: I used Chanel neon (a beautiful lialc/purple color)_on outer half of eye, the light green from GP damp on the inner corner and inner eyes, the peach very lightly all over and lined with the green - it was beautiful! I have even incorporated the gold color from golden eyes quad with fantastic results also. So, I guess the bottom line for me is that garden party is a must-have!! I had been worried that Chanel was losing their mojo b/c I haven't been that impressed with a lot of the collections that they have released in recent years - but I think they hit this collection on the mark :)

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Golden Eyes Quad
KohlLinerRocks 4/7/2007 11:03:00 AM
ok, so here's the deal on this quad. I hated it with a passion for a very long time after I bought it. I didn't think that it stood up to the quality of the numerous other Chanel quads I own - the three glittery colors look the same on and I thought the brown was rather difficult to blend. However; I recently (as in 2 days ago) purchased the ombre d'eau fluid shadow in source and now I LOVE this quad!!! With source underneath it as an e/s base, I now get a distinction of color with the pink, brighter pink and gold. So now I can see me wearing the heck out of this quad. NW25; BB beige

Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Violet Face Palette
KohlLinerRocks 2/25/2007 9:36:00 AM
NW25, BB beige w/black hair. I absolutely *love* this palette! I wasn't immediately sold on it when I saw it at the counter, so I had the MA do a makeover with it and I was shocked at how great it looked! Here's what I like about it: 1. gives a great "glow" w/o screaming "purple" 2. very versatile - I have been mixing it with colors from the BB kohl palette with great results (I can really smoke it out this way) 3. the blush and shadows go on smoothly - not chalky and color can be built up to achieve desired color 4. i can use the brown in the palette for my brows - perfect color for me. 5. the lip colors are great - very creamy and gives lips a hint of color that just looks natural but "better" I am really happy that I tried this palette - I am even considering buying another one just in case Bobbi doesn't make these colors part of her permanent collection. I am going to go check out the ultra-violet e/s and the heather pink gloss now too! Hope this helps someone - if you are on the fence about it, go to a counter and try it on!!!! :)

Palettes -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dallas Palette
KohlLinerRocks 11/18/2006 12:08:00 AM
My first palette from Benefit. I became interested in the line b/c I use and really like their "fake-it" products. I really like the palette. Dallas is a very nice color for my cool complexion. I really like the plummy-taupe e/s but am a little on the fence concerning the pink e/s...I think that if I just use that on the lid it might be better, it's just a little too pink to use on brow bone. The applicators aren't good but in a pinch they will do the job. Lastly, I like the lip creams a lot, very creamy and smooth with decent staying power.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - High Beam
KohlLinerRocks 11/9/2006 7:27:00 PM
This is my favorite highlighter out of all of the ones that I own (to name a few...Px sheen cream, a d/c Chanel powder highlighter, YSL touche eclat, BE light touch w/the 2 diff colors, blah, blah, blah) :) I have even used some of my favorite shimmery e/s as highlighters and I always come back to Benefit. Do I love the packaging? No. But...it is worth it!

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste in Rose Petale 99
KohlLinerRocks 10/30/2006 8:09:00 AM
Just wanted to add my two cents! This is the best blush from Chanel that I own! I wear this pretty much every day...the perfect color for my skin (Chanel Shell) it looks good with every shadow/lip combo that I wear. Highly recommend! Once my counter gets the new winter shimmer blush, I have a feeling that maybe these two colors will compliment each other...

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Soft Touch Eyeshadow - Safari
KohlLinerRocks 10/29/2006 1:04:00 PM
I am not sure why I caved and bought this e/s - I have Vega and don't wear it, so why I thought I would wear Safari is beyond me:) I love the formulation of this shadow - probably the best formulation Chanel has offered!! I think that if Safari was just a little *deeper* in color, that would make me happy. I feel like when I wear it now, I always need another color to darken the "v" area of my eye. I bought Cinnamon also and that I love due to the texture and the color is perfect for me. I will review that separately...
