Eye Makeup Remover -Garnier - Clean Sensitive 2-in-1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 6/18/2013 10:49:00 AM

This makes life so easy. No irritating ingredients, removes both face and eye makeup really easily without any rubbing. It can feel a little oily after use if you have oily skin like me but i just go straight onto my cleanser afterwards. One of the few products i buy regularly and stock up on when on offer, i have no need to try anything else!

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Freederm
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 6/18/2013 10:37:00 AM

I dont know why this brand has such bad rep here but I think its amazing. I have (had) oily acne prone skin that is very inflammatory and very sensitive. I read a study that suggested that niacinamide was very effective for inflammatory adult acne which I get through stress/hormones etc. I tried the gel first and it really worked without any irritation but i found it annoying to apply over all the acne patches i get (forehead, chin, temples) and i didn't like applying it preventatively so i bought the skin care products and they work great for me. I use the pink gel wash in the shower followed by a tiny amount of the moisturiser. I use the cleansing cream in the evening with cotton wool. In the very beginning my face was slightly itchy but i grew tolerance to the product. Initially my face was quite shiny but that has gone down a bit over time, this product doesn't really strip your skin of oil (to me at least!) so i find it very gentle in this regard. When i used to use harsh cleansers using salicylic acid for example, it helped the acne but my skin was so dry and sore, freederm doesn't have this effect on me! I would give it a go if you have inflammatory acne! I dont think its so effective for tiny bumps and large pores but i find just having a good skin care routine helpful for this.

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Mellow Mauve
rated 3 of 5
Kitooo 2/24/2013 10:03:00 AM

The blush quality is very good, it is very pigmented and easy to apply and blend. But I can't give it 5 stars because the colour mix looks so weird on me. I have neutral very fair skin (elf mineral foundation in porcelain is a perfect match for me) and the base of this blush looks very coral/terracotta like on me. However in the light it shimmers bright pink and blue. I have nothing against the shimmer but the tan base looks completely wrong so I do not recommend this for fair skin, even though its for "cool tones", you need some tan in your skin first to use it I guess.

Mascara -E.L.F. - Studio Mineral Infused Mascara
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 2/24/2013 9:52:00 AM

This is the best mascara I have ever used. Never clumps, wand is easy to use and zero fall out. Its also perfect for my sensitive eyes with no irritation. Easy to remove. Colour is black without being too intense. The effect is not dramatic but I find it makes me lashes look sturdier and separated without looking caked on. I love it!

Powder -E.L.F. - Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 2/6/2013 7:33:00 AM

I LOVE this product. I have extremely sensitive skin and my skin is intolerant to most products. I also have extremely pale but yellow toned skin. On top of this I have oily skin but has a tendency to get patchy and scaly in the sensitive areas (oily and dry). If you have this sort of skin then this product is fabulous and affordable. It doesn't irritate my skin, the colour porcelain is the FIRST affordable foundation that actually matches my colour (white pale but slightly cream) and it really suits my irritated skin type. Most liquid foundation pick up my scaly patches but run off my oily skin and melt into my fine lines. This does neither and looks 100% natural on me. Because my skin is oily it lasts a long time for me but if I set it with a mist spray it will last all day. The coverage is good enough to tone down my permenant redness but not so heavy that it looks fake so that my natural skin glow comes through. I have zero complaints with this product and that is a complete first for me and my skin which hates 90% of skincare.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Fit Me
rated 4 of 5
Kitooo 1/21/2013 8:43:00 AM

I bought this initially because of the great shade range but i actually really like it as a powder and have nothing to complain about it. It looks very natural on me and doesn't make me look shimmered like other people have mentioned. My skin but nicer texture. The coverage is not heavy but this is only pressed powder. It doesn't irritate my face or break me out. It doesn't last all day but that's okay because I'd rather not have to use a strong remover at night. The only thing I have to complain about is that I hope they bring 110 over to the UK as 120 is just a tad too dark for me. I might order it online when this runs out. Edit: I found this makes me itchy after a while but it might just be because its drying which in winter is something I don't want, it doesn't break me out so its not very irritating at least.

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
rated 2 of 5
Kitooo 1/11/2013 10:56:00 AM

For large areas of my face like my cheeks and forehead I can see that the affect is pretty smooth but my use of this sponge is limited. I find it really hard to get around the contours of the face like the nose, chin and eyes. The next problem is the application is very sheer and I use dermablend! So for areas where I need heavier coverage for my rosacea I go back to a brush. I hate the way it uses up double the amount of product for such sheer application. My favorite use of this product is to blend the outer edges of the face where I want very sheer application anyway and then use brushes for the intimate parts in the center of the face.

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Exfoliating Gloves
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 1/8/2013 11:51:00 AM

I agree with everybody here that exfoliating gloves may change your life! I have very acne prone skin because my skin doesn't naturally exfoliate well for some reason. I have tried body scrubs and puffs and all sorts yet nothing compares to these. My body acne is gone, my ingrown hairs gone, my legs glow with radiance. I even use these lightly on my face because they work far superior to any face scrub i've used. And I have _really_ sensitive skin. I've used sensitive scrubs and little scrubbing brushes but this feels so much better and doesn't send my face red!

Crème -Barry M - Foundation Creme fct1 (white)
rated 2 of 5
Kitooo 1/8/2013 11:28:00 AM

I have pale skin that doesn't fit a lot of the drugstore ranges and I really wanted to try out a white base to use all my failed match foundations. I honestly don't know much about creme foundation and I didn't think about it too much when I picked this up because it was cheap. This product comes out extremely thick and I found it really hard to blend. It takes much longer to blend than liquid foundations and seems really dried out. As a result I found it very hard to mix with most of my watery foundations because even when it looked like I got the right colour, when I applied it, the creme just didn't want to spread out at the same speed as the other foundation. This resulted in being really patchy and uneven. Even when applied by itself, I still found it really hard to work with because of the consistency but if you take the time it does come out smooth, it just takes longer. The actual finish is medium coverage so it doesn't make your face pure white, but you have to be pretty pale to use this alone. I couldn't use this for base though :(

Foundations -Vichy - Dermablend Corrective Foundation
rated 3 of 5
Kitooo 1/8/2013 10:01:00 AM

Oh Dermablend how I wish I could love you! I have mild to moderate acne rosacea with some acne pigmentation. I also have very blue dark circles and scary spider veins in my eyelids that don't cover well. Vichy Dermablend comes to the rescue and does cover everything nicely although I need extra concealer for the eye circles. Unlike other people, I find that the finish looks fairly natural on me, not caked on and doesn't feel super heavy. However I have 3 gripes with this product and first one is major. I have the lightest shade in opal and its simply too dark for me, I look like i'm applying tan so it looks super fake. I have tried mixing it with white base and other foundations but this simply reduces the effectiveness of the product. Secondly this slides off really badly on my oil T-zone and builds up on the sides of my nose. Its runs immediately into my eye circles and I have to use powder without question. Thirdly I hate the packaging, I always squeeze out too much and I don't think there's much in there to begin with. The coverage is wonderful, yes but I don't think i'd repurchase until the colour range is better. I might try out the stick version though as I know that does come lighter.

Cleansers -Garnier - Simply Essentials Comforting Cleansing Milk
rated 2 of 5
Kitooo 1/5/2013 12:37:00 PM

If I use enough of this it does remove my base makeup but the amount I need leaves a lot of residue even after using a second wash. I find it sends my face bright red and the residue leaves it feeling irritated. I wouldn't buy this if your skin is oily just because you need to use a lot to cleanse thoroughly.

Concealers -Collection 2000 - Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
rated 3 of 5
Kitooo 1/1/2013 7:02:00 PM

I would give this product more credit but it cakes horrendously around my eyes where I have bad dark circles from translucent skin. It makes me look really old because of the way it settles in my fine lines. The coverage is okay, it doesn't cover my circles completely but then its a little too yellow for me so I can't put it on heavy. Its okay on marks/blemishes so I might repurchase for this since its cheap but I don't really need concealer for this purpose. It did last a pretty long time though.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Makeup SPF 17
rated 3 of 5
Kitooo 12/30/2012 6:09:00 PM

When I originally reviewed this product I made the mistake of judging it on the colour when first applied which in C1 is a an unnatural greyish pink on me. However after some oxidation it does look more skin colored. It does apply to my oily skin fairly well without sliding off and I especially like how it doesn't settle in my eye creases too much. I like the pump packaging you get in the UK. For me the downside is the coverage is fairly low, it gives me a sheer look and doesn't cover redness or acne pigmentation. It also doesn't prevent shine but it doesn't melt off like some products. Finding pale enough products is always difficult but this one isn't too bad.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Tangle Teezer
rated 2 of 5
Kitooo 8/8/2012 9:08:00 AM

I have extremely fine baby hair that is very long (nearing mid back). The ends are dry and tangle easily so spending 15-30 minutes a day combing out knots with a wide tooth comb in the morning over some coffee has been a ritual for years. One day I just got really fed up on spending all this time on my hair and since I used a stiff comb I was fed up of my hair being pulled. I bought the tangle teezer based on the reviews here and I am DISAPPOINTED :( For one thing, the tangle teaser has not reduced the amount of time I need to spend combing knots, it takes just as long. Secondly the quality of this comb is POOR. The plastic teeth scratch my scalp because they have no protective heads. And the third biggest problem is seeing all this hair come out with the brush. I know hair came out with my comb but I know all those hairs had roots on them, these tangle teezer hairs sometimes do not which suggests breakage. The upside of this brush is it doesn't tug on my head like the hard comb but I wish i'd just bought a flexi wide tooth comb than this product. The finish of the hair is also quite nice but no better than using a proper cushion brush for styling which is what I normally do. Save your hair and buy a quality flexible comb than this.

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color
rated 5 of 5
Kitooo 4/17/2012 5:25:00 PM

I've always been nervous with box dyes because the 2 L'oreal products I have ever used made my scalp itch and burn like mad which made me afraid of ever using a box dye again. However determined not to go to the salon I gave garnier a go and I am 100% happy! First of all there is NO irritation with this product which is very important to my experience. The smell was very mild and the formula is so rich and creamy. I used #5.5 creamy coffee brown on my old blonde highlighted hair with some natural light brown roots down to mid back (I needed 2 boxes). I could not be happier with the colour - it was an exact match to the box. My hair is very soft and thick. It does look a bit frizzy but I can tame it. I have only just coloured it so I will have to feedback to see how long the colour lasts with shampooing but I am so happy. Edit: I have shampooed my hair enough times now. I didn't see any colour run but the colour has faded somewhat so that I have more highlights and tones, its a lovely colour but not exactly the same as the original dye job, but I think the lighter shade suits me even more.
