Fragrances -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent
KitKatKat 5/13/2013 12:55:00 PM
Really don't like this fragrance! I tested it in store after reading many good things about it - how it smelt of holiday/beach/creamy coconut etc...well yeah, it does smell of holiday. Mosquito repellant and some alcoholic coconut drink to be exact! Have my mum a sniff of my wrists and she said it wasn't nice either.

BB Cream -MISSHA - M Perfect Cover BB Cream
KitKatKat 3/7/2013 5:57:00 AM
I'm an NC20 with neutral tones and use the shade #21 which is a pretty good match for my skin. It doesn't leave a grey cast and doesn't come off pink on me. I have tried shade #23 but it was very pink and grey, leaving my skin looking dull. #21 brightens my skin and after about 20 minutes matches my skintone very well. I have dry skin and this BB cream leaves a bit of a dewy finish on me. Despite that, it doesn't get oily or greasy on me throughout the day, even when I don't set with a powder. It remains looking glowy all day and still looks good after 8+ hours of wear. I never have to touch-up or reapply. The lasting power is really great for me. Coverage is light-medium depending on how I apply. I don't need lots of coverage as my only real problem is uneven skintone, and I like to use 1 pump for my face. My skin and freckles still show through but I look very polished. It doesn't look cakey or heavy on me. A lot of people actually don't even know I'm wearing face makeup with this on. Other things I like are the SPF of 45+++, the hygienic pump packaging, the affordability. I don't like how strong it smells. This is my favourite BB cream (and I have tried many, mainly Korean and some Japanese ones too) and I won't hesitate to repurchase.

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice 'n Easy Non Permanent Colour
KitKatKat 3/4/2013 3:25:00 PM
I really like this. I have very porous hair so even permanent dyes fade within a short period of time, so I prefer sticking to non-permanent ones as I find they last just as long as permanents on me! I use this in the shade 'Dark Brown' which leaves my hair a lovely rich, deep brown colour. Most dark browns leave my hair jet black but this doesn't...just a very dark brown. This shade is meant to be a neutral one so I don't really get much redness or brassiness under light. I also like how the colour applies evenly and doesn't leave any patchiness. The conditioner smells really good and leaves my hair very shiny and soft after using. The dye doesn't smell overpowering at all and the developing time is only 15 minutes. Very easy to wash off the dye too, it rinses out quickly. Another plus point is that it's relatively cheap too! However, I need 2 packs to do my hair as my hair is long.

BB Cream -Lioele - Beyond the Solution BB Cream
KitKatKat 2/21/2013 11:35:00 AM
I'm an NC20 with neutral tones and find this BB cream matches me well. It is ever so *slightly* lighter than my skintone but barely noticeable. I don't find it to lean pink nor yellow...it's a good match for my neutral skin, very beige. It feels light on my face and applies evenly. I have dry skin but have never had an issue with this looking flaky on my skin, providing I have moisturised well beforehand. It leaves a semi-matte finish upon application but within a few hours settles to a more skin look. After several hours wear it looks slightly dewier but never oily. I don't set with powder or use primer. My skin is in pretty good condition. I have redness and unevenness, the occasional small pimple here and there. The coverage is fine for me. I can get light-medium coverage depending on how much I apply. It doesn't look cakey or heavy, but I feel it is more noticeable on the skin than some of my other BB creams. The scent is a little similar to the Missha Perfect Cover BB cream, but less overwhelming. I like the scent but it is unnecessary. I haven't had any noticeable breakouts when wearing this, so it seems to fit well with my skin (I'm very sensitive). I don't mind the lack of SPF as I can wear sunscreen under it anyway, and it means I can wear it on nights out without having to worry about a white cast. Longevity is good but I think those with oily skin may find it lasts less long on their skin. On my skin it lasts all day with no touch-ups. I have heard the Triple the Solution version is better for oily skintypes.

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Butter
KitKatKat 2/5/2013 12:31:00 PM
I have the raspberry one. My lips have been really dry for the past few weeks - pregnancy and the cold British weather have wrecked havoc on my lips. After trying several balms and still having sore, dry, cracked and peeling lips, I decided to try this. The scent is lovely (like raspberry) and when applied there is a *very* subtle pink hue to my lips. It doesn't feel sticky or tacky or greasy on my lips at all. Instantly my lips feel softer and soothed. I apply this usually at night time and when I wake up, my lips are in much better condition. I've used this for about a week now and my lips are no longer peeling or bleeding or cracked. It gives a subtle sheen to the lips and makes them look moist and supple. It's affordable too.

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
KitKatKat 1/15/2013 3:14:00 PM
This is my favourite highlighter and I have tried a few - liquid, creams, powders. I'm an NC20 and this is so flattering on my skintone. It doesn't add any noticeable colour, just pretty shimmer and glow. It's not very finely milled but I don't mind. I like my highlight to be noticeable and this is noticeable without looking like a glitter bomb. I wear it both day and night. Things like NARS Albatross and Benefit High Beam left me looking oily and the tones weren't flattering on my neutral skin, but Soft & Gentle doesn't leave me looking greasy at all. Just leaves gorgeous shimmer that glows when it catches the light. I use on the tops of my cheeks and down my nose bridge. It lasts all day/night without requiring any touch-ups and you only need a small amount, so the compact lasts forever. Great value for money.

Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
KitKatKat 1/15/2013 10:16:00 AM
I like this perfume. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have pretty much abandoned all my other fragrances as they make me want to gag...but this one, I can handle suprisingly! (I say suprisingly because it is quite a strong, sweet floral scent). 1 spray is all I need, anything more and it becomes too overpowering. Lasting power is great...I can smell it all day and others can too. My husband always compliments me whenever I wear this, it's his favourite. I also get compliments from friends and strangers occasionally when I'm wearing it. The bottle is pretty and despite the high price, it lasts ages seeing as I only use 1 spray and never have to re-apply throughout the day. It is *very* sweet but not in a cupcake/candy way, more of a sugary flowery way. I think women of all ages can wear this.

Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volume Express
KitKatKat 1/4/2013 9:26:00 AM
I must say I am quite impressed with this. I hated the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara (UK version of CoverGirl Lash Blast) but this is much nicer despite having a similar brush. The formula is pretty wet and the plastic bristles are very short on the wand. Leaves my lashes very defined and gives good length. Not so much for volume but I do not really look for volume so not an issue for me. I do not get clumping from this or flaking either.

BB Cream -BRTC - Jasmine Water BB Cream SPF 30 PA++
KitKatKat 11/29/2012 2:46:00 PM
PRO'S: - Nice Jasmine fragrance which isn't too overpowering. - Colour is a decent match for my skin. I'm a neutral NC20 and expected this to be much paler, considering how white some reviewers said it is...but it blends into my skintone well, leaving it looking brighter but not ghastly pale. I think it's pretty neutral leaning slightly pink. CON'S: - Expensive, especially considering the bottle seems only about 1/4 full when you buy it! - Lasting power is not great. I notice it seems to have faded after a couple of hours. Strange seeing as all my other BB creams and foundations stay on all day even without powder. - Coverage isn't good. I have decent skin (not really any breakouts but uneven skintone and some redness)...it hardly evens out my skintone and redness still shows through even with two layers. - I have dry skin. This BB cream highlights flakes and makes my skin look rather dry even when I've moisturized well. Not a hydrating formula for me at all and certainly doesn't leave a dewy finish...very matte on me. - Claims to have SPF 30 but doesn't have a PA rating like all other Asian BB creams do, which makes me suspect that it isn't good broadspectrum protection.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Legere- bb creme white
KitKatKat 11/16/2012 9:19:00 AM
This is probably my favourite BB cream. I'm an NC20/C1 with neutral tones and the colour is near-perfect for me. It's neutral leaning ever so slightly pink. It doesn't leave a grey cast on my skin. I have pretty good skin and just look for makeup to even out my skintone and conceal any redness that may be on my face. I feel this is good for either day or night time makeup looks as the coverage is good - medium. It doesn't feel heavy on my skin either. It spreads easily despite being relatively thick in consistency. It gives a 'natural' finish - not too dewy but not matte. It's pretty glowy. Longevity is good. I have dry skin and don't set with powder but it still lasts all day. It provides just the right amount of hydration to my skin without being oily or greasy. I don't know how those with oily skin would manage with this...it is a BB cream designed for more dehydrated/mature skintypes and contains oils and rose-water for moisturizing. I would repurchase this BB cream.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara Blackest Black
KitKatKat 11/13/2012 4:54:00 PM
I quite like this mascara. My mum has been using it for a while and it makes her lashes really long, so I purchased a tube for myself. The brush is very small which makes it easy to reach all lashes, but also makes application a little more longer than with a regular mascara brush. I have naturally short, relatively thin lashes but with this mascara I get pretty decent length. No clumping whatsoever. The formula is rather wet and thin but not too much so. I love how black the colour is - darker than other mascaras I've tried, even the ones that claim to have 'carbon black' pigments in them. It doesn't do much for volume but I wasn't expecting it to considering how the brush is shaped. But it holds a curl and gives nice length. Not dramatic by any means, but a nice day time mascara. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Physiological Cleansing Gel
KitKatKat 11/13/2012 11:38:00 AM
Despite being aimed towards normal/combination sensitive skin, it works very well for my dry sensitive skin. A non-foaming gel cleanser free from soap/alcohol/dye/parabens, this leaves my skin feeling cleansed yet not stripped after using. Very gentle. The smell is not offensive or overpowering, the pump bottle is practical, the price of £11.50 is reasonable considering how long a bottle lasts me. If I've worn makeup I tend to use my Bioderma makeup remover beforehand, then use this after to get rid of any residue. A definate staple in my skincare regime.

Eyeliner -Sleek - Ink Pot
KitKatKat 11/13/2012 11:11:00 AM
I'm impressed with this gel liner. It's long-wearing, doesn't smudge or flake off on me even in warm conditions. The Dominatrix shade is a dark black, not that 'grey-black' colour that some black gel liners give. It's easy to apply due to the formula being creamy and smooth. Costs £5.50 for 4g which is very reasonable, especially for such good quality. Personally I find the quality to be better than MAC's gel liners, which in my experience flaked off my lids throughout the day and wasn't as smooth to apply.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Angled Eyeliner Brush
KitKatKat 11/13/2012 11:02:00 AM
This is great - I prefer it to my MAC angled eyeliner brush. I like that the brush is firm yet not too hard or stiff, the handle is lightweight, makes applying gel liner so easy, doesn't shed and holds its shape well. However, I do find it a little difficult to clean as it takes a while to wash the gel liner out in comparison to my old MAC angled brush. £5.49 for a great quality brush...definitely worth it!

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
KitKatKat 11/13/2012 10:57:00 AM
I'm roughly an NC20 in MAC shades with neutral undertones and use the shade C1 in F&B, which is a near-perfect match for my skintone. I find it very difficult to buy foundations as most tend to lean too orange or pink or yellow on my skin but this is just right. I like this foundation because it provides natural looking coverage, is easy to blend and is long-lasting. I have very sensitive dry skin so opt for moisturizing formulas, F&B contains several emollients and provides just the right amount of hydration for me. It's not oily or greasy in the slightest. Those with oilier skintypes may want to set with powder or use an oil-control powder though. However, I don't set it with any powder as my face doesn't get shiny throughout the day due to being dry. After 9 hours wear my skin still looks fresh and hasn't faded or slid off of my face. I have rather good skin in terms of blemishes - my main issue is just evening out skintone. F&B does just that. I apply one layer of foundation with my hands (best way to apply in my opinion) and it completely evens out my skin and provides light coverage. If I'm going out somewhere special, I may opt for two layers of foundation for a little more coverage. It doesn't cake up or look too heavy when layered in comparison to a lot of other foundations. I always get compliments on how great my skin is when wearing F&B. The only downside I personally have with this is the smell - rather chemically and not that pleasant, but bearable. It can also transfer a bit onto clothes if I'm not careful. I have also tried the MakeupForever face and body foundation, which I do not like at all. It breaks me out, the longevity isn't as good as the MAC one, there is no decent colour match for my skintone, it smells bad and I find the coverage to be inferior to the MAC one also. Not to mention it's more expensive!
