Powder -Jane Iredale - Pure Pressed Base
rated 4 of 5

I had always been curious about Jane Iredale products, but luckily when I went to Imats this past June, I was able to get color matched and purchased one on sale. I must say, that I absolutely LOVE this powder foundation! it has great coverage, non-irritating, does not make me oily (i'm already oily enough) and gives ME a flawless looking appearance. It covers my acne spots quite well. I did not find this to be chalky whatsoever, it glided on my skin. I use this alone or to set liquid foundation. I always have issues with other powders wearing off after a certain period of time (even with a primer) but not this one. I would purchase this again, but would have to save up to do so because it is just so expensive! but definitely worth it. I will probably keep buying this until I find something less expensive that can do the job. I have tried benefit hello flawless (which did nothing for me sadly) and a wide array of others, but they do not compare to this one! definitely recommend to everyone, regardless if you are acne prone or not - lovely product. very sturdy packaging (heavy), but well worth the price!

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Medium Plus
rated 4 of 5
Khristine 8/16/2010 1:31:00 AM

This review is actually for the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in Medium (not Medium Plus) I have been using this to set my foundation, and also use it alone (on top of concealer).. and it gives my skin a nice natural and flawless finish. for the price it's not that bad and it's easy to use. it's not loose (if it was i think i'd just make a big mess).. it doesn't oxidize on my skin or make anything dry or cakey. it feels light on my skin. i think the difference between this product and for example a pressed powder/sheer pressed powder is just the way it was made.. or in this case, baked. makes it a lot more natural on the skin.. other products/powders tend to look cakey or just powdery feeling to it.. so i really do like this product.. only downfall for me maybe because i'm just oily, but the lasting power isn't as good as i'd like - but nonetheless couldn't see myself without this product! :) love it!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
Khristine 8/8/2010 9:46:00 PM

this is my first Urban Decay palette. Have heard many things about urban decay reselling their eyeshadows in different LE palettes. luckily the Naked palette is permanent and here to stay. it has a few new exlcusive shades as well as urban decay's best sellers. there are 12 FULL-SIZED eyeshadows, a duoliner (their best seller 24/7 liner in zero and the other end is whiskey). Also it comes with a mini eyeshadow primer potion all for $44.00! that's an amazing deal! the colors are extremely versatile and wearable. you can do sultry smokeys or just easy naturals with this palette. i think this is just the best bang for your buck. the case is super cute and travel friendly! i think this would be a great addition to Make-up artists that are starting out, or want to have a natural/neutral palette for doing bridal work! :) love this palette, so glad i got it!

Moisturizers -Cosmedicine - Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion
rated 3 of 5
Khristine 3/10/2010 1:01:00 PM

I thought this was actually a great product. It did work to keep the oil on my t-zone at bay during the day, it was a thicker kind of lotion.. but dried nicely.. molded in my skin perfectly! however after a few uses, it broke me out badly! i had painful cystic acne on my nose where i had applied it.. and i knew it was from this product, because after i stopped using it, the acne went away and cleared shortly after. this is a great product though, but for $42 for such a small amount (then again a little goes a long way).. just don't justify spending that much money.. i think there are other great alternatives to this.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
rated 2 of 5

I was almost suckered into purchasing this item. Luckily after being colormatched at Sephora - I just asked for a sample - GLAD I did! I have combination skin, very oily t-zone, very dry cheeks.. this went on smooth like butter (hence the 2 stars).. but still felt wet/dewy and sticky on my face.. and it made me feel more oily than i originally am! this dried up severely on my cheeks - causing it to cake all over my cheeks, accentuate my pores and even dried up the corners of my nose.. for $42 i think it's not worth it.. (just my opinion).. would not buy this product if you have dry skin - will dry you even more, not do anything for oily skin.. just didn't go well with my skin..hope if you purchase it - you have a better experience than i did!

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Eyeliner Black
rated 3 of 5
Khristine 2/25/2010 8:39:00 PM

I really, really, REALLY wanted to love this product. It had gotten so many rave reviews on YT, and popular beauty bloggers.. and I thought i'd find my HG eyeliner.. BUT.. I didn't! a lot of ladies who had used this said this was their HG eyeliner and that it wouldn't smudge.. and even a few had the similar oily lids/runny lower lashline/waterline problem but swore this worked for them.. So.. instinctively I bought two! because everytime I went to the store (target, and walgreens) they were sold out in Black - so i figured it HAD to be awesome!.. well I first tried it on my waterline as that was my main thing.. well it didn't stay all day.. it had rubbed off on parts of my waterline which was weird looking!.. so secondly i used it on my waterline and bottom lash line when i went to disneyland yesterday.. and boy did i have racoon eyes! and thirdly i used it today for work and i thought hmm i'll test it on my upper lash line to see.. so it did stay on my upper lash line pretty well.. it wasn't dull.. but it wasn't super black like a gel eyeliner.. but again it ran and smudged all over my lower lash line.. making me look like i had bags for days.. the price was inexpensive.. but i'll definitely NOT be repurchasing it - as this did not work for me.. it did not stay and it was not smudge proof for me (mind you i did not touch my eyes at all today or the past 2 days i've used it).. so i hope it works for you if you decide to use it - but it didn't work for me..

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Black
rated 4 of 5
Khristine 2/21/2010 8:36:00 PM

I originally bought the maybelline eye studio gel liner in charcoal and did not like it's lasting power.. it flaked on me.. i heard about this eyeliner, but never used Wet 'n' Wild products before and so i decided to give it a try! this goes on super black, it dries quickly, and stays on ALL day! I fell asleep in this on accident as i'd been so tired from work.. and when I woke up.. the liner on my upper lash line was still as black as when i had first put it on. I was totally impressed. It doesn't smudge as bad as other liners i've tried on my lower lash line. But i'm not sure if it's safe for the waterline, so i haven't used it on the waterline - just the lower lash line. hence why i gave the overall rating a 4. (because it did smudge a tad).. the price was extremely affordable and the packaging wasn't that bad! it's tiny but a little goes a long way! I think this is definitely my new HG eyeliner for gels... :)

Makeup Brushes -Essence of Beauty - Crease
rated 4 of 5
Khristine 2/1/2010 7:11:00 PM

I actually think the brushes are really great for where you purchase them (local CVS/drugstore here). NO shedding whatsoever, very nicely crafted. Not the best packaging, but what do you expect for the price? over all, great brush for blending, i use the bigger crease brush for more blending and the smaller crease brush for lower lash line or sometimes use to smudge lightly (eyeliner)
