Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Mascara
rated 4 of 5

I'm surprised by a lot of the negative reviews. I bought this mascara on a whim and ended up really loving it. It makes my lashes look soooooo long and almost like I'm wearing falsies. I don't think I've ever come across a mascara that did that and made them look this good. The color is super black like I like it. I only knocked one lippie off because it's kind if hard to wash off, but not too bad. Other than that, I will definitely buy this again!

Liquid -Maybelline - Super Stay Makeup
rated 4 of 5

I really love this foundation. I'd been using the Dream Liquid Mousse for a long time, and then tried the Revlon Photoready, and then was mixing the two. I was just about to try Revlon Colorstay when emilynoel83 from youtube mentioned how much better she liked the Superstay than Colorstay, so I decided to try it too. I wasn't completely sold initially, but it has grown on me to where I like it better than any other foundation I've used. It blends so smoothly and evenly and does not settle into my lines or pores the way Photoready does. It also leaves a very dewy glow on the skin. I know many have said that it produces way too much shine, but for someone like me with dry skin, it hydrates it just enough that I like the dewy look. I can't stand looking like I have matte mannequin paint on my face! The only gripe I have about this makeup is the bottle!! Why, why whyyyyy won't these companies put pumps on their bottles?? Other than that one annoyance, I will continue to use this foundation. Love it!

Hair Color -Ion - Color Brilliance - Demi Permanent Hair Color
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 8/31/2010 10:55:00 AM

This stuff is the BEST!!! After a bad mistake I made in my college days when I decided to bottle-dye my brunette hair blonde (what was I thinking??) and it turned my hair to straw, I have been terrified to bottle-dye my hair ever since. In the last few years I've been going darker to a deep chocolate brown, but with the economy I can't afford to get to the salon as often as I'd like anymore. Naturally, bottle-dye is much more cost friendly, but I've been so afraid to use it even to go darker for fear of haystack hair. I researched this demi color from Ion and decided to take the plunge. Not only is it ridiculously affordable (hellooo $4.50), but it turned out the perfect shade of dark brown, and it has left my hair feeling like SILK! It smells and feels so luxurious, and it was so easy to use. I am overjoyed that I now have a cost-friendly way of coloring my hair the perfect shade of chocolate that I want for less than $5. I'm still waiting for the catch....

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational - Park Ave. Peach
rated 3 of 5

This is the only CS lipstick I own out of the TWELVE total that I have that I was really disappointed with. I adore the color sensational line. This one still has the great creamy formula that they all have--which is why I still am giving it three lippies. The only thing that disappointed me on this one was the color. I have found that these l/s's are all very, very true to what you see in the tube when you apply them. So far, all the ones I've bought have been what you see is what you get, except for this one! In the tube this is such a gorgeous darker peachy-pink color. I've seen various pictures of people wearing this color and it looks great on everybody. On me, it looks totally orange! I tried it by itself, over gloss, over my lips with foundation over them, everything! I really thought this color would be perfect for my slightly fair skin and green eyes, but apparently it's not. I get bummed out every time I see it sitting in my makeup drawer knowing I want to love it but I just don't. Major bummer. I still love the rest of this line though. Pinkalicious is my HG!!

Moisturizers -Olay - Night of Olay Firming Cream
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 5/26/2010 2:05:00 PM

Love this cream. It definitely leaves my skin feeling soft, supple, and fresh. It isn't greasy at all and it has never broken me out. I've been using this cream before I go to bed for several years now. I use the regular Olay beauty fluid in the morning and during the day, but I almost like this one better. The scent is nice and makes me think of my mother--who used Olay on a daily basis and had the softest, most beautiful skin ever!

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 5/26/2010 1:39:00 PM

I've only just started using this mask recently, but so far I love it. You get a lot for the price (I think I got it for $2.99 in Food Lion). So far I've been using it once a week and it definitely leaves my skin feeling very soft and refreshed. I'm not sure yet if it will shrink my pores, but here's hoping. I might start using it twice a week. It smells like toothpaste, but that isn't a bad thing. Good stuff!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstick - 065 Hooked on Pink
rated 4 of 5
KatieG66 5/18/2010 2:44:00 PM

If you have green eyes, then this color is for you. I have brown hair and green eyes and this color makes them POP like you wouldn't believe! It's definitely more of a fuscia-pink, but it's gorgeous on. It does come out rather bright, but I agree with the reviewer below who said it can easily be toned down. I swipe a little bit of foundation on my lips and some chapstick before adding the color. That brings the color down from a bright-bright fuscia to a medium berry pink. I wouldn't necessarily wear this color every single day, but it's perfect as a fun, flirty evening color. In the daytime it still looks great, though, if you're wanting to wear a color a teeny bit more daring than a subtle pink because it isn't too over the top. I took one lippie off because my tube was extraordinarily sticky for some reason. When I got it home and tried it for the first time it was like gliding a gluestick over my lips (very weird). But it seems to go on easier with chapstick underneath. Pretty summer color!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 3 of 5
KatieG66 5/18/2010 11:16:00 AM

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this foundation. It has good points and bad points. I have this in the color shell--a smart move after I initially bought the lightest shade and wound up looking like a corpse. I can't wear this foundation by itself. By itself, it highlights every single line and every single pore on my face. I didn't want to have to return it again, so I tried mixing it with a bottle of my Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse in color Creamy Natural, and that seems to create a very nice foundation for my face. I get good coverage with them mixed and just a hint of glow. I figure I'll use this method till both bottles run out, afterwards I might give Colorstay a try, seeing as how everyone raves about it. I was disappointed because the packaging is great. I LOVE the pump--ds makeup brands need to get on the ball and give all foundations a pump like this one! So overall, I'm happy with it because I discovered a way to make it work for me, but at the same time it's annoying to have to mix it with another product in order to make it work. It sounds like Revlon needs to put the Colorstay foundation in the Photoready bottles and it would be the deal of a lifetime!

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational in Pinkalicious
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 5/12/2010 2:28:00 PM

I can't believe it took me so long to pick up this color. I've become quite obsessed with the Color Sensational line, as I now have 11 of their lipsticks. This might be my absolute favorite color along with Warm Me Up. This is actually very similar to Warm Me Up, except this is a nice neutral peachy-pink where WMU is more of a neutral-rosy-pink color. This is also one of those lipsticks that doesn't need a thing. You don't need to blot or add gloss or mix it with another color. This one was just absolutely perfect on my lips all by itself. It has just a hint if shimmer to it, but it's not frosty at all. It's silky smooth and not dry or cakey at all. LOVE this color!

Polishes -Revlon - Lilac Pastelle #185
rated 4 of 5
KatieG66 4/19/2010 10:12:00 AM

This is a beautiful color. I agree with the other reviewer that when applied it doesn't appear as purplish as I'd expected and definately has a more pink appearance, but there still is that lilac undertone. It's so soft and feminine! This is a perfect summer color to wear, especially with tanned skin. Two coats did the trick for me. Love it!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 3 of 5
KatieG66 4/14/2010 2:33:00 PM

I have mixed feelings about this mascara. I bought it on the advice of Marlena from makeupgeek.com. This mascara does exactly what it's meant to do. It gives you thick, voluminous, gorgeous lashes, probably better than any mascara I've ever used. My one and only beef with this product though, is that it is a freakin' mess to get off! This mascara smudges so badly that even after using eye-makeup remover and giving my whole face a major washing, I still have racoon eyes. I have to fight to get this product off of me. It's very aggrevating because I really want to use this mascara everyday but I've come to dread my face cleansing ritual as a result of it. I would still recommend it because it does give you beautiful lashes. I however, have put it away and am trying CG mascara, which isn't giving me the smudge issues. I'll save the L'Oreal for a special occasion when I want my lashes to have extra oomph!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Bedazzled Biscotti
rated 1 of 5
KatieG66 4/14/2010 2:22:00 PM

AWFUL. This is without a doubt the worst eye shadow I have ever bought in my life. Well, it actually was free with a purchase of CG mascara and I picked this color thinking a shimmery taupe would be beautiful for summer. When I attempted to apply this shadow, I ended up with ZERO color on my lid and sparkles all over my face. I practically wore my skin off from rubbing a wet wash cloth over my face so many times to get the shimmer off. Even a couple days later, and a few showers later, I still was finding glittery specks. I have a couple other CG shadows that are absolutely fine, but I'll never buy a shimmery shadow from them again as long as I live. This is the first time I'm ever throwing a product directly into the trash!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow Trio - Bronze Glitz
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 4/14/2010 2:12:00 PM

LOVE this set. I have been using Maybelline eye shadows for years and I'm not sure how I ever passed this one over. These are the perfect colors for summer if you want a bronzy, glowy look. I was impressed with the pigmentation of these. I'm wearing it right now and it's been on for 6 hours and looks exactly the same as when I first put it on. I would definitely compare this to the high end shadows. Great quality!

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers Blush in Golden Pink
rated 3 of 5
KatieG66 3/3/2010 2:19:00 PM

Like a few of you others, I bought this color on the recommendation of emilynoel83 on youtube. This color absolutely did not work for my lighter skin. It's waaaay too orangey-brick colored for light skin. To pale it you have to swipe it once with a brush and give the brush a good blow, otherwise you'll have a very dark streak up your face. On the pro-side to these blushes, they're super highly pigmented and obviously don't have any trouble showing up. I'll definately try another CG cheekers, but in a lighter color. On very tan skin this color would be gorgeous.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstick - Warm Me Up
rated 5 of 5
KatieG66 3/3/2010 10:17:00 AM

Love, love, love these new lipsticks by Maybelline. I was running out of my favorite Sephora lipstick, which is now discontinued, and I found the perfect match for it in the color "Warm Me Up". It's such a beautiful nude pink and goes so well with my slightly fair skin. I've bought several of these in different colors, but Warm Me Up is the one I pick up the most. Smooth, creamy, and it stays on for hours, even after eating and drinking. I find the matte shades very comparable to MAC matte lipsticks, but at a fraction of the cost. I paid $5.04 at Target. LOVE THEM!!
