Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil
KathleenM415 8/29/2012 3:40:00 AM
I've tried just about every facial moisturizer, from less-expensive drugstore offerings like Cetaphil's Moisturizing Cream to high-end products such as Crème de la Mer, and I must say that I've been most pleased by the moisturizing properties of pure argan oil. I, like so many people out there, was initially hesitant about putting a pure oil on my face. However, argan oil is different in that it is a light, "dry" type of oil that sinks in rather quickly after applying. The key is not to put on too much. Just a couple drops is usually enough to keep my face moisturized throughout the day. I apply once in the morning before leaving the house and once at night before going to bed. Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil has worked remarkably well for me for the last six months or so. I've tried other brands, but this one has been consistent in its quality and effectiveness. Their prices are reasonable and I really like the dropper applicator - it allows me to use just the right amount of the precious oil. I highly recommend trying Beta Naturals 100% Pure Argan Oil if you're looking for an effective all-natural moisturizer.

Skincare -Unlisted Brand - Bulldog Natural Skincare Original Face Wash
KathleenM415 8/28/2012 9:00:00 PM
I purchased the Bulldog Face Wash from a Whole Foods Market on a whim for my boyfriend. Because of me, he's starting to get into skin care. From what he has told me, he quite enjoys using this face wash because of its scent and how gentle it is. It apparently doesn't dry his skin out as much as his other soaps. Mind you, he was using Dove and Old Spice body washes to wash his face before I introduced him to this product.

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
KathleenM415 8/28/2012 8:46:00 PM
The Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant is one of the gentlest exfoliants I've ever used. It's unlike other face scrubs in that it's a powder (not gritty at all) you mix with water to activate. It has worked really well on my sensitive skin. The salicylic acid in this product has helped to keep my acne in check. I use it about twice a week to keep my pores clear. Though it says "daily," I prefer not to push the envelope when it comes to face scrubs. Expensive, but worth trying if you have sensitive skin and you're still searching for a gentle exfoliant.

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Bulldog Face Scrub
KathleenM415 8/28/2012 8:36:00 PM
I found Bulldog Original Face Scrub in the small men's grooming section at my local Whole Foods Market. Intending to give it to my boyfriend, I decided to try it before shaving my legs. It worked wonderfully at clearing out any dirt or debris, making my shave smoother. This product has a naturally nice lime & patchouli scent. Love that it doesn't contain parabens or SLS. Not sure if I would try it on my face, but I liked using it as a body scrub.

Lotions/ Creams -Kiehls - Forest Rain Delux Hand & Body Lotion
KathleenM415 8/8/2012 8:51:00 PM
Oh Kiehl's, why did you have to discontinue the Forest Rain line of products? Am I the only one on here that is sad about this? The lotion was light and absorbed fairly well. The delightful scent was noticeable but not overpowering. Keeping my fingers crossed for the day Kiehl's will have a change of heart and bring back the Forest Rain line.

Lotions/ Creams -Kiehls - Imperial Body Balm
KathleenM415 7/31/2012 8:17:00 PM
I really enjoy using Kiehl's Imperial Body Balm. If it wasn't so expensive, I would buy this moisturizer all the time. Not only does the body balm keep your skin moisturized throughout the day, but it also smells amazing! The scent is sweet with a hint of honey - it lingers, but it isn't overpowering. The balm's consistency is rich, so a little goes a long way. I love using it on my legs, arms, and chest. The ingredients in this product are impressive - they include cocoa butter, shea butter, and sea buckthorn oil. Try it and you'll probably love it!

Gels/Soaps -Pacifica - Tahitian Gardenia
KathleenM415 7/22/2012 12:49:00 PM
I really like the soap, but wish there was a list of ingredients somewhere on the package. Being a fan of natural products, I would like to know what I'm putting on my skin. The scent is lovely and the soap works very well at cleansing without over-drying. I used this as a body soap and it lasted me about five weeks with daily use. I highly suggest using it as a had soap - it will last much longer and the great scent will permeate the air.

Other -Pacifica - Mediterranean Fig Candle
KathleenM415 7/22/2012 12:43:00 PM
I really enjoyed burning this candle. Bought the glass container version at my local Whole Foods Market. The scent seems to be more noticeable than the pillar version. Puts me in a relaxed mood whenever I burn it. Try this is you're a fig fan.

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - When Hope Is Not Enough - Serum
KathleenM415 7/21/2012 4:21:00 PM
Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough Serum is a good multi-purpose serum for the face and body. It absorbs fairly well into my skin and keeps my skin adequately moisturized throughout the day. While I enjoy using this product, I wish it was more natural - it contains synthetic fragrance and preservatives. I prefer using pure argan oil (either by Josie Maran or Beta Naturals) for my all-around beauty needs - it's less expensive, all-natural, absorbs quickly, and works very well at moisturizing my skin.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - GinZing
KathleenM415 7/21/2012 3:19:00 PM
I had a great experience using Origins GinZing Refreshing eye cream. It has a slightly reflective quality, which helps to minimize the appearance of dark circles - it's a temporary fix, but it's a fix nonetheless. It kept the area around my eyes moisturized and helped reduce the appearance of fine lines. I like that it's a natural product that contains some quality ingredients such as ginseng and caffeine (sourced from coffee beans). Relatively expensive, but worth trying.

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Eye Alert
KathleenM415 7/21/2012 3:11:00 PM
I use Kiehl's Eye Alert mainly to decrease puffiness around the eyes, not to remove dark circles. It wakes my eyes up and moisturizes well. This product helps to minimize the appearance of the lines around my eyes. While Kiehl's Eye Alert is marketed more towards men, women can also enjoy its benefits. There's nothing particularly masculine about this product, other than a cooling sensation. It's not cheap, but it should last you at least a couple months.

Skincare -Kiehls - Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer
KathleenM415 7/21/2012 3:04:00 PM
I love the concept of Kiehl's Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer. Compared to other eye creams, this product doesn't work as well when it comes to decreasing puffiness around the eyes. It feels cool & refreshing when you apply it, but it's hard to notice the results. I primarily use this as an eye refresher after a long day at work or before I go out at night.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Gentle Cream Exfoliant
KathleenM415 7/18/2012 7:00:00 PM
I really enjoyed using this product. It's unlike any other exfoliant I've tried - it's gentle and not abrasive like so many other facial scrubs out there. It takes a total of about ten minutes to apply, wait, and rinse the product off. Once you're done, you'll feel a nice, noticeable difference. My face usually comes out feeling clean, but not stripped of essential oils. The Gentle Cream Exfoliant is on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way - so it should last anywhere from a few months to a year. I use it about once or twice a week.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
KathleenM415 7/18/2012 6:50:00 PM
Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser is a good face wash if you're looking for a less-expensive alternative to department store brands. It's relatively gentle and doesn't over-dry the skin too much. I'm not a fan of the synthetic fragrance - not sure how to describe it, but it definitely isn't natural. I don't care for the paraben and SLS ingredients as I prefer natural products.

Shampoo -Giovanni - Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo
KathleenM415 7/8/2012 6:23:00 PM
I love this product, but I'm going to let you in on a little secret - Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo is a very similar product to the Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Threat Shampoo. It might even be the same product in different packaging. The two products act and smell so much alike, it's difficult to distinguish between the two shampoos. I really enjoy the tingling sensation and naturally fresh tea tree scent. I also like that it's paraben and SLS-free.
