Eyeliner -MAC - Tarnish Eye Kohl
rated 3 of 5
KathXx 9/5/2011 5:35:00 AM

I bought this eyeliner thinking it would really make my green eyes stand out and be a great alternative to black. However, on me, this liner only ever looks like I am wearing black eyeliner. I wish it was a little bit more green. I don't want to wear a bright green as that is not the look I am trying to acheive, I just want to have a green tint but I feel the green tint in this liner is not strong enough. As for staying power I have no problem. The eye kohls from MAC are my favourite liners. I would consider buying this again when I run out as I like to use it when I don't want my liner to be as dark as Smolder from MAC and don't want it to be as light as Teddy from MAC. It appears like a soft black which I like.

Cleansers -Urban Decay - Clean and Sober Oil Free Makeup Remover
rated 4 of 5

I really like this product but I don't know if I am using it correctly. When I got it first I thought you had to put it on a cotton ball and use it on a dry face. This did not work for me so I tried using it like a face wash. I only really used it in the shower but I would take a pump or two, depending on how much make up I had on and rub it into my face and eyes and rinse it off with lots of water. It does get the make up off that way but it's not as good as using eye make up remover and cleanser. It does not clean your face, it just removes make up so use a face wash after it. I really like this product and would buy it again, but as it is quite expensive and I already have eye make up removers and cleaners I think I'll wait. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T LIKE THIS PRODUCT, MAYBE TRY USING IT AS A WASH OFF CLEANSER NOT TISSUE OFF.

Skincare - Face -Liz Earle - Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I love this cleanser as using the muslin cloth makes me feel like my skin is so much cleaner. I take my makeup off with the lancome or dior cleanser (whichever is to hand) and then just wash my face with this as directed. I have not tried to take my makeup off with it so can not comment on that. I personally like the smell now, I didn't at first. Washing the muslin clothes can be a pain but I just hand wash mine with some handwash detergent I keep by the sink and leave them to try on the hand rail. It does take a little extra time to wash your face in the morning/night but its definately worth it. My skin has cleared up from blemishes since using it and my skin tone appears more even. I love this product and will be using it for a long time.

Crème -Laura Mercier - Silk Creme Foundation
rated 1 of 5

I bought this foundation a shade or so darker than I normally would hoping it would be better when I have a tan. The colour I bought was hazelnut beige and was the darkest shade they stock. It actually matched my medium skin tone quite well. I have quite oily skin but this foundation seemed to make it even more oily! If thats even possible. Unless it just accesntuated the oilyness. I had to use a flat foundation brush (Mac 190) because its too thick to use a stippling brush (Mac 187). I tried powdering my face, not powdering my face, using Mac Fix+ and even powdering my face and then using Mac Fix+ but nothing I used could get this foundation to stay on my skin. At first it would look great but i noticed within an hour my face would start looking oily and then it would start oxidising and looking orange and then it got to the point of being oily, orange and patchy all within around 3 hours! I felt embarrassed to wear this foundation! It also made me break out quite badly too. I returned this foundation today but as I didn't have a receipt she could only do an exchange so I bought the almond coconut milk souffle instead. I have gone back to using my Nars Sheer Glow foundation - don't know why I ever changed in the first place!

Loose Powders -NARS - Loose Powder

I love this product. I've tried the mac prep and prime transparent powder and thought it was good but for £17 you dont get much. I decided to try this and although its £25 you get a whole lot more product for your money. Although it isnt translucent, there is no coverage to it so the colour wont affect your skin tone too much. I will definitely repurchase this and I have already bought it as a gift for someone else.

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
rated 2 of 5

I got this last October and I still havent finished using it. I originally bought the liquid facial soap for oily skin, the level 3 toner and the gel moisturiser. The first few days I enjoyed using it because it was new to me and my skin was actually getting cleaned twice a day, (I used to be so lazy with my skincare!) I then realised that my skin had dry patches, so I took it back and the girl on the counter changed the toner from a 3 to a 2 and this helped. Although, after the dry patches had gone I noticed my skin was just as oily, if not more than when I started. A few months later I stopped using it after talking to the sales girl at Givenchy about it. I now use Lancome Bi-Facil eye make up remover, Lancome or Dior cleanser, a facial wash and a Givenchy Hydra Sparkling moisturiser and my skin is a lot better! If you have oily skin I recommend using a mattifying primer rather than trying to strip your skin of your natural oils, as by doing this your skin thinks its too dry and will actually produce more.

Primer/ Corrector -Givenchy - Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer

I havent tried many primers but this is by far the best I have tried. It definatley helps control the oil in my skin and stops me looking shiny. It is about the same value for money as smashbox which is 25£. This is only 20£ but only has 25ml where as the smashbox has 30ml.

Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
KathXx 5/23/2010 7:16:00 PM

I dont like this foundation. I had a few samples it back in September and really like it and it looked good in photos, I used the colour neutral. I got a giftcard for christmas and decided to buy this and foolishly bought the colour neutral which was too dark by then as my tan had faded. I decided to keep the foundation and wear it when I had a tan like in the summer. I just posted a review on the givenchy photo perfexion foundation and in it i said I mixed this with it. I did this for more coverage and to get a better shade. I watch a lot of videos on youtube and everyone who has reviews this product says how thick it is and that a 187 brush isnt good to apply it. I dont understand what they are all talking about?! I think I had a bad foundation or something because when I pour mine out of the little bottle it is like water, I hate the consistency. It runs all down my hand which none of my other foundations do. I dont like the design of the bottle either, I dont like foundations that dont have a pump because I find i cant get the same control of how much I use. The packaging looks cheap, not like the classier bottles chanel, givenchy, nars (i know that doesnt have a pump), lancome and the list could go on. I highly doubt I would repurchase this foundation and if I did I would get properly colour matched and make sure that it wasnt a watery consistency.

Liquid -Givenchy - Photo'Perfexion 100% Natural Complexion 0 Flaw
rated 3 of 5
KathXx 5/23/2010 7:06:00 PM

I find this foundation does not last long at all. I use around 2 pumps on my face and after a few hours I notice that I can see the blemishes on my chin area. I have tried applying this with a flat brush, stippling brush, fingers, over primer, not over primer, on its own and mixed with superfit from clinique (for extra coverage) but i ALWAYS find that it wears off easily. I bought this after I used all of my chanel pro lumiere and was hoping for something a little less shiny than the chanel but still with a glow, I dont think think this foundation gives much of a glow. I paid £30 for my chanel and £28 for the givenchy but later found that chanel contained 30ml where as the givenchy only has 25ml! I would not repurchase this foundation.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre Lipstick - Pretty Please
rated 3 of 5
KathXx 5/23/2010 6:57:00 PM

I still dont know what to make of this lipstick. I rarely find myself reaching for it. I only use this because I want a glossy texture but dont want to actually wear lipgloss but I could find that finish with any other lustre lipstick. I think the colour is very frosty and light and looks very white on my lips. I like to put concealer or foundation over my lips to erase my lip colour but I find I look a little dead but if I dont use concealer I can still see my natural lip colour through the lipstick because lustres tend to be very sheer. I dont know if i would repurchase this lipstick, well not anytime soon at least. I dont think I will use this up too quickly anyway.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Folie
rated 4 of 5
KathXx 5/23/2010 6:52:00 PM

I really like this eye shadow, this colour is a reddish brown which brings out the green in my eyes. It is a satin finish so it isnt overly shimmery. The only problem I have with this shadow is that it can be a little hard to work with, I use a mac 219 pencil brush to put it on because this brush is stiffer than say a 222 and I find the 219 picks up and places a colour a lot better than a soft brush. Once the colour is on it is easy to blend with a 224 brush though. I would buy this again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Satin Taupe

KathXx 5/23/2010 6:48:00 PM

All i can say about this is that i LOVE it! Perfect colour and goes great with any eye colour and skin tone. I use this as a lid colour and crease colour in the same look and then blend it out with a mac 224 brush for a soft smokey eye and add Folie to the outer corner for more drama. Simple and quick look which looks like i took forever! I only bought this shadow about 2 months ago and I have already hit pan and I intend to buy another! :)

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 222 Tapered Blending Brush [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
KathXx 1/17/2010 12:28:00 PM

I love this brush! I have a small lid space so I was looking for a smaller crease brush, i was using the sephora rounded crease brush. I can get in my crease without it going everywhere else too and i can even blend out colours with it. This is just a perfect brush.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lipglass - Dreamy
rated 5 of 5
KathXx 1/13/2010 3:06:00 PM

This is a very pretty colour in the tube but it is a little sheer compared to something like florabundance. Its a mauvey pink with some glitter and i find that it enhances the pink when worn over lipstick. I wear this over plink! and it looks very pretty. I think it can be worn over any pink toned lipstick. I would buy this again.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #219 Pencil Brush
rated 5 of 5
KathXx 1/13/2010 2:14:00 PM

I love this brush. I know £17.50 may seem a lot for a brush but this will last forever and the brush is so versatile you can get a lot of use from it. I use mine mainly to put eyeshadow on my lower lash line, highlight under my eyebrow, highlight my inner corner and make an outer V. You could even use this in the crease if you want a defined line there or blend it out with a mac 224 brush, you can even use this brush to put shadow on your lid. The brush has white hairs and when i use dark colours with it it leaves the brush a dark colour, I spot clean my brushes after I use them with the id quick change brush cleanser (i think its from bare minerals?) and I deep clean using the sephora brush shampoo, this cleans the brush really well and restores it back to its beautiful white colour. I honestly don't know where I would be without this brush and if something did happen to this brush (knock on wood) I would definately repurchase this in a heart beat.
