Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
Karidinka 5/12/2013 2:55:00 PM
This takes 10 years of my face... OK, maybe not in direct sunlight ;) Great product, but ridiculously overpriced. Like many others, I have discovered cheaper alternatives, ex. pure silica powder form Coastal Scents. 5 lippies for performance, 1 for price, giving an average of 3 lippies. I won't repurchase, why pay more if you can get it cheaper? There's no magic to this product.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
Karidinka 5/12/2013 2:45:00 PM
Don't laugh. I use and love this cream... for my face as well as hands and feet. IMO the only Body Shop product worth buying. Some people aren't crazy about the earthy smell, I adore it. The only thing I'm not that keen about is the aluminum tube, but I can live with it. This product shares a special place in my heart along with the Weleda Skin Food.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Blush Brush
Karidinka 5/11/2013 4:40:00 PM
Real Techniques brushes are decent brushes. I own almost all of them, and like them a lot. Some are not so great (ex. powder brush, which is too scratchy IMO), but this blush baby is worth its weigh in gold. I love it!

Masks -Formula 10.0.6 - Deep Down Detox
Karidinka 4/16/2013 10:26:00 PM
Contrary to the name "deep detox", in terms of sucking gunk out of pores, this doesn't even come close to the Aztec Secret clay mask, but... it's so incredibly easy to use and smells delicious! Packaging is pretty, it's cheap, and available in every Walgreens. I will repurchase. It's still a nice mask, leaves my face smooth and clean. Did I mention that it smells incredible???

Lotions/ Creams -Trader Joe's - Coconut Body Butter
Karidinka 4/7/2013 5:29:00 PM
Yeah, I like it. But it's not really that moisturizing. It'll probably be perfect for summer, or for people who don't have skin as dry as I do. Smells lovely, but if you ask me, it's too strong. It reminds me of the Mountain Ocean Skin Trip Coconut Lotion, except it's even stronger. Nice if you don't plan on wearing any perfume, otherwise you're screwed. I will probably repurchase, but it's certainly not HG for me.

Fragrances -GAP Beauty - Stay
Karidinka 4/7/2013 5:19:00 PM
I never really liked any GAP fragrances, but this one looked so pretty in the bottle I just couldn't resist spraying some on my wrist while shopping for clothes. And while I certainly didn't fall in love with this fragrance, we did become good friends very fast :) I'm usually not a fan of fresh "aqua" scents, as they make me nauseous and seem to linger forever. "Stay" is a pleasant surprise, not overwhelming, floral sweet and fresh, without that artificial "breezy" undertone. It's a flat scent, no opening notes or other sophisticated fragrance oozy doozy ;) I wouldn't wear this to work or for the evening out, but it's perfect for around the house and no nonsense errands. I'm not sure if I'll repurchase, but for now I like it a lot.

Lipstick -Milani - Color Statement - Nude Creme
Karidinka 4/4/2013 11:20:00 PM
This is an amazing color, it's perfect for us fair-skinned gals for a no-makeup look. It's not drying, and manages to stay on my lips for a few hours. Love the smell, very 'edible-like'. Cheap too! I'll repurchase.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
Karidinka 3/14/2013 7:36:00 PM
I kick myself in the butt for waiting so long to try this out. This is like the traditional Colorstay foundation, but without the chalky look. Coverage is medium, and probably buildable (can't say 100%, as I don't need full coverage). Finish is surprisingly natural, and lasts about 8-10 hours with minor touch-ups (blotting and powder). Looks great applied with fingers, as with a brush/sponge, or whatever else you choose to apply. Buff is the perfect color for my complexion, it starts out a bit too yellow, but blends completely into my skin after about an hour or so. I love the jar. Price is nice too. Definitely my HG foundation! For reference, I do not use a primer, and use powder (Make Up For Ever HD) only when I start to get a bit only in my T-zone during the day.

Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray
Karidinka 3/14/2013 2:03:00 AM
Works like a charm, but the lemon Pledge smell is too overpowering and lingers forever. If this was fragrance free, I'd give it 5 lippies.

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
Karidinka 2/3/2013 2:31:00 PM
Like some reviewers below, I love the UD Naked foundation but can't use it as I have no color match, unless I get two shades and mix them - too much of a hassle. I jumped for joy when I saw this new Revlon baby, presumably a dupe for the UD. No way! This isn't a horrible foundation, but certainly not the type that blends into your skin and is invisible, while giving you a more even, glowing skin tone. The Revlon Nearly Naked foundation sat on my skin and gave me a bit of a mask-like appearance, no matter how little I used and no matter how I applied it, it also oxidized after about 3 hours and turned tad darker. I returned this.

BB Cream -Urban Decay - Naked Skin Beauty Balm
Karidinka 1/15/2013 3:07:00 AM
I've been dying to try this out for some time, and finally managed to get hold of 2 samples. And... drum-roll... meh meh meh. Let's start with the most obvious - no way is this even close to a BB cream, so why purposely confuse clients? This product gave my skin some glow and blurred out imperfections, but the effect was not long lasting, not to mention my face was oily as hell in a matter of 2 hours. Was way to dark for my winter skin, but might work well in the summer when I'm a tad darker... presuming I'd even buy this "BB cream", which is NOT something I plan to do. I tried this alone (nice effect, but short-lived and not worth the price IMO), and under makeup as a primer (worked nicely, but not better than other primers I've used in the past). I gave the packaging a 5 based on pics, it does look lovely, but I won't be seeing this on my vanity table in the near future. On the positive side, I am very clog-prone and this did not clog my skin at all.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Airy Fairy
Karidinka 1/11/2013 2:08:00 AM
My favorite nude lipstick, but still not HG. The color is perfect, but I find the lipstick itself to be a tad drying. I have reasonable expectations in terms of staying power, so no complaints here. If a MU company would create a lipstick that has the exact same color, but a bit more shine, be very moisturizing, and completely immune to drinking and eating throughout the day, I'd pay a hundred bucks for it. Nice to dream, huh? ;-) For now, I'll stick to Airy Fairy.

Lips -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
Karidinka 1/11/2013 1:59:00 AM
I have a couple of these lip butters, Peach Parfait being my favorite one. I absolutely love this product, but my expectations were very realistic to begin with - this a tinted, creamy lip balm with little color and minimal staying power, not a lipstick. It moisturizes very well, and the shimmer is perfect, not too sparkly and glittery. I apply this several times a day. It's great over lipstick too, especially matte ones (I'm not crazy about matte lipsticks, and this a good way for using the ones I have purchased on dumb impulse). The other colors don't really suit me that well, but it's certainly not Revlon's fault that I chose colors wrong for my complexion. I use them around the house, as this is really a fantastic lip moisturizer.

Moisturizers -Kate Somerville - CytoCell Dermal Energizing Moisturizer
Karidinka 1/9/2013 3:52:00 PM
Finding a moisturizer that actually makes my skin look and feel better without clogging it is quite a challenge. At 40 years old, I feel I need to do something more for my skin than just moisturize. I got this as a sample from Sephora, and after being very pleased with it, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price for the full size product. It is an excellent cream that makes my skin look and feel like a million bucks. My pores are almost invisible now. Needless to say, I bought the full sized product. I wish this didn't cost so much :( Why, Kate Somerville, why???

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Karidinka 1/9/2013 1:23:00 AM
I got a sample of this when I purchased the Naked palette and I've been hooked ever since. This is a wonder product. I use it on my eyelids and under my eyes as well, to prep skin for concealer. Everything that could be said about this primer has been said. Fantastic product, well done UD! Well worth its price. I will keep repurchasing this.
