Hair -Unlisted Brand - Prell Rinse Clean Shampoo
KareenJoell 10/8/2011 2:56:00 PM
Ok so I only bought this to fade out my hair color. I lathered up a ton of this stuff in my hair and let it sit for maybe 10 minutes? I know I should have done more, but I didn't have the time. Anyways, the water came out a murky gray color which is good! But since the dye on my hair is permanent (not semi or anything) and it's been in there for 3 weeks, it didn't fade much. But I do have faith in it since the water that came out of my hair was so dark! Of course it's going to be drying people! So I just put in the Aussie 3 minute deep conditioner, but left it in for 5-10 minutes and once my hair dried, it feels normal :] I'm going to try this process again tomorrow so hopefully I can at least fade this almost black color to brown.

Polishes -Jordana - Nail Polish
KareenJoell 9/13/2011 4:11:00 AM
Sooo I didn't buy these. I was gifted like 5 different polishes, including the base coat and yellow out top coat. I must say, I thought they were going to suck and avoided using them. But they do come out nice and don't chip as easily like other cheap polishes. I would definitely buy more, they're only 1.99! I'm sure I can even find them at the dollar store too! p.s. I just painted my nails in Burnt Sugar and it's a perfect fall shade!

Lipstick -MAC - Russian Red
KareenJoell 9/2/2011 5:46:00 PM
Ahh I love red. I don't wear it often, but I love red lipstick! This shade is THE shade when you think of red lips. I think it can suit almost any skin tone. My only complaint is that since it is so creamy, it wears off reallllllyy easily and it rubs on anything instantly (i.e. a fork) I wore this to a birthday dinner and had to re apply maybe 3 times? Oh and please please please don't wear this alone! You need to line your lips first, as with any other lipstick, but especially a creamy red. Then again... it's good that it's creamy so it doesn't settle into lines making you look older?

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof
KareenJoell 2/5/2011 1:35:00 PM
This is the best mascara I have EVER used! I bought it over the summer before a vacation since I knew the weather was going to be extremely hot and I wanted to wear mascara at the beach. This really does not budge one bit! I have long lashes that have NO CURL so it sucks because their true potential is always hiden. :( I do a quick curl and one coat of this and wow wow wow!! My lashes stay curled forever and look amazing! The sad part is that I don't wear it often because I hate the removal process :/

Mascara -Josie Maran Cosmetics - gogo Mascara
KareenJoell 1/9/2011 2:55:00 AM
I surprisingly liked this mascara! I got it in the Josie Maran beauty in a box set for my birthday. It said it was curling and volumizing but I honestly wasn't expecting much. I have naturally long lashes that NEVER hold a curl for longer than 5 minutes... unless I use waterproof mascara that I hate. So it didn't hold a curl, but it made my lashes really nice looking. They looked soft/touchable but kept the natural full look. I like it a lot for the day. I would use something else for drama though... it's a nice soft and full look, not a party look.

Skincare - Body -NADS - Hair Removal Strips
KareenJoell 12/23/2010 4:18:00 AM
I don't understand all the super negative reviews. I thought they were just fine, nothing spectacular or horrible. They do what wax strips do, the end. You have to rub the strips between your palms well and not wait forever to use the next strip or else that one will slightly dry out obviously. I used these once on my legs and one for my upper lip. I know they are for the body, but you can just cut a small piece and voila! It's the same thing as facial waxing strips. It didn't remove ALL the hair though. That's only because I didn't let my hair grow out enough from shaving. I don't know if those wipes that "numb" the skin actually did anything but it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be... and this is the first time I've ever waxed myself! (It's nearly impossible for me to inflict pain on myself haha)

Polishes -New York Color - Long Wearing Nail Enamel
KareenJoell 11/16/2010 4:12:00 PM
I don't know if it was just my bottle or not, but my nails starting peeling the NEXT DAY. I guess it was because I used their brand's base/top coat as well, which is obviously going to be horrible since it's 99 cents. So I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt at a 3 since it would probably be OK if I use a good quality base and top coat.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Total Face Brush
KareenJoell 10/16/2010 1:35:00 AM
HORRIBLE! I bought this because I had heard that e.l.f brushes are good for being cheap. I wish I read specific reviews first. Apparently it's the STUDIO brushes that are good and the red haired brushes are bad bad bad! The bristles are very harsh and the handle came off by the second use...

Cleansers -Ponds - Deep Cleanser Cold Cream
KareenJoell 10/15/2010 2:37:00 PM
This review is for the original Ponds Cold Cream - the classic cool. I LOVE THIS. It removes everything, since it IS oil based, and it is very moisturizing. Originally, I would use the tissue off method: apply on my face liberally, use tissue to remove (but only one side of the tissue per small section of my face. never rub one tissue all over.) then repeat. But now I prefer a different, less greasy method: wash my face with normal make up removing face wash, then apply Ponds and remove it with a warm/wet wash cloth. Or the Ponds first and face wash second.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Active Light Makeup SPF 25 ] [DISCONTINUED]
KareenJoell 10/15/2010 2:26:00 PM
My skin recently broke out and I don't know if it was caused by this or not, since it was the only different product I used. I wore it for a few days to the gym and then stopped going to the gym so I stopped using an "active" formula. In all honesty, I've had this foundation laying around for about a year and never used it. Regardless of it possibly breaking me out, and I never really break out from foundations, I really like it. It's light and creamy, kind of difficult to blend so you have to work faster than its older sister formula of the general ColorStay. Since I have been using foundation for quite some time my skin has lost its natural healthy look. Barefaced I look pasty and uneven with ridiculously dark circles. So I never go anywhere without AT LEAST some under-eye concealer and some powder or tint. This foundation goes on like a thicker version of tinted moisturizer but is still sheer enough that your skin shows! It's kind of funny though because I have the Active in sand beige and the normal ColorStay in the same color, yet the Active it a PERFECT match like second skin and the other is darker... odd. I'm going to give this foundation another shot. I really like how natural it looks and it is meant for activity which is perfect for me to wear while working out! :]

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
KareenJoell 10/15/2010 2:07:00 PM
I'm on the fence with this one. It has excellent coverage, I use it in a shade slightly darker than my skin (sand beige) on purpose to give my face some color. It is probably one of the best drug store foundations I've tried for the coverage. The problem with that though is that it can look cakey really easily. I use a Sonia Kashuk stippling brush and then blend it out with my fingers and it looks good, but very obvious that I'm wearing foundation. Another issue with this is removing it! When I first tried it out, it was nearly IMPOSSIBLE to remove it all with a normal face wash/makeup remover. This NEEDS an oil based cleanser. If not, it will break the majority of people out. It took a lot of research until I finally figured out what works, Ponds Cold Cream! Don't worry though, just because it is an oil base doesn't mean it will clog your pores. I sometimes will wash my face with a normal wash after the Ponds just out of habit. Basically, I like it and use it whenever I go out or know that I will be out all day because this really does stay put through everything! This has stayed put in over 100 degree weather, while working out, a day at the beach (as long as I don't rub my face), 12 hour days, etc.

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Exfoliating Gloves
KareenJoell 9/21/2010 12:26:00 PM
These gloves are great! I bought them and a loofah for 5 dollars at a sale. I always find it really hard to exfoliate my thighs properly, but these gloves make it such a breeze! They're kind of really intense, so if if you use a light hand then you can use it everyday. I personally don't, I interchange between the gloves and the loofah.

Bronzers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Jiffy Tan [DISCONTINUED]
KareenJoell 8/21/2010 11:31:00 PM
This sucks. I bought it because I have really pale legs and was going to be wearing a short dress. HUGE MISTAKE! If your legs are pale (I'm not talking DEATHLY pale, but still winter white), beware! It is tooooooo dark, sparkly, AND streaky! You will look off balance with orange, sparkly legs and normal arms. Plus some product randomly seeps out of the tube and it dries green... GROSS. Basically, if you have at least a medium skin tone it will be fine. If you're pale, stay away!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
KareenJoell 7/20/2010 1:45:00 AM
I had used this mascara a long time ago, before any experience with other mascaras, and remember it being good. After all the hype on here and my mother constantly raving about it, I decided to give it another shot. I went to Target before my vacation and bought this in the regular formula and LashBlast in waterproof. I already have long lashes but they are always stick straight. So my concern is about curling and volume, Loreal only solved one aspect. Even with curling my lashes went back to stick straight within a few minutes but my lashes did look thick, in an unnatural way though. The next day I tried the LashBlast waterproof at the pool and WOW my lashes stayed curled alllll day and night! In comparison, Loreal doesn't cut it. But alone it is not a bad mascara, great if you're lashes stay curled!

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Flash Mousse Mascara -- Extreme Black
KareenJoell 7/20/2010 1:26:00 AM
Bad, bad, bad. I bought it on a whim during some CVS sale along with a bunch of other useless makeup, JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE ON SALE. It's really clumpy. Not "oh my lashes look full" clumpy and you can separate it, but actual chunks. If you just do one quick swipe on each eye you're ok, but that just makes your eyelashes look black is all. I'm keeping it as a backup since it was only a few bucks...
