Eye Shadow -L.A. Colors - eyeshadow quad in Truffles
rated 5 of 5
Kali89 12/8/2012 8:31:00 PM

I was throughly shocked with this quad. I was expecting cheap blah makeup, but this is probably some of the better eye shadow I've used (pigmented, smooth, easily blended). I bought this because of the rave reviews on here. There isn't a place to review the LA Colors blending crease brush, so I'm going to do it here. It comes in a two pack with a regular eyeshadow brush for $2. It is very comparable to the Mac 217 brush with a shorter handle. No shedding at all. Places color and blends wonderfully. So while your picking up the Truffles Quad pick up the brushes you won't regret it. Plus the applicator in the quad is terrible, I thought about removing a point for it, but since you can buy the quad and the brushes for only $3.50, I decided to review the brushes too and add the point back.

Mascara -Hard Candy - Lash Ink - 4 Day Lash Stain
rated 3 of 5
Kali89 12/5/2012 2:21:00 AM

This is an alright product. It colors the lashes and it did not come off when I went swimming. My blonde sister used it and it lasted three days, but she didn't attempt to remove it. I would buy it again if I were going on vacation, but it doesn't replace mascara. I'd doesn't add volume or length. Hope this helped!

Eyeliner -Essence - Gel Eyeliner - London Baby!
rated 5 of 5
Kali89 10/9/2012 1:52:00 AM

I have been looking for an eyeliner replacement since I ran out of my MAC. I liked MAC, but I was tired of black & brown. I read a review on here that recommended this color by Essence. I went to visit my brother and decided to locate an Ulta store to pick some up. Two hours and two stops-at-McDonaldlot-steal-their-wifi later and we found it. I would do it again. This stuff is amazing. It is creamy and easy to apply. The color is a mix of brown, gray, and purple. Growple? Yeah, I'm gonna say growple. It's just wonderful. For less than $4. Try it.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Waterproof Eyeliner Pen
rated 4 of 5
Kali89 8/17/2012 2:21:00 AM

Great product. I use to use MAC Definitely Feline Liquid Eyeliner before this. My friend bought this thinking it was a pencil, then gave it to me. I use it to dot close to my lash line for a naturally full look. Now, I use this more than my MAC, and for a dollar? You can't beat it. I don't know if it comes in brown, but I hope so. One of the best eyeliners I've used.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Complete Salon Manicure - Shell We Dance
rated 5 of 5

Best fingernail polish I've ever used. One coat looks natural, and two looks professionally done. So many people ask where I get my nails done when I wear this. It's medium in the price range for a fingernail polish. Smack-dab between NYC & butter. It has top coat, color, and bottom coat which really saves me time. Takes a bit to dry. Just a really lovely polish.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Watt's Up!
rated 4 of 5
Kali89 8/17/2012 2:07:00 AM

I find this product to be one of the best highlighters on the market. Still, I feel the package is awkward and it is highly priced for a highlighter at $30. I don't understand the weird cap. I know it is supposed to be a light bulb, but it barely resembles one. It's more inconvenience than whimsy. Why not a cap like Girl Meets Pearl? I also think $20 would be a more acceptable price. Highlighter is a bonus to my makeup routine, not a necessity. Then again, maybe that's why it's priced so high. I do like it, and will probably buy iy again. Benefit! If you're reading this, change the cap! Please!

Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - tweezers
rated 5 of 5

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallllllelujah! Halleeeelllllujah! You don't know what you're missing. It's like God himself is tweezing your brows. You wouldn't think there would be a big difference, but there is. You may think "I just don't know. $12 sure is pricey for a pair of tweezers". It's not though. It's worth it. Trust me.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Corrector
rated 5 of 5
Kali89 8/17/2012 1:24:00 AM

This product is a godsend. For years I have been looking for a Concealer for my under eye area, but it seemed like they were just very cakey by the time I'd covered my circles. I just wanted one product to completely take them away. I decided to test this after researching it online. I really didn't think I'd like it because a corrector before a Concealer just seemed like one step too many, but to my surprise it looked alright by itself (I use light bisque)! I do have to set it or my mascara will transfer. That said, I recommend this product highly. It does seem expensive ($25) for such a little amount, but it lasts. If you're still unsure go to Macy's or Sephora and try it. It is a truly wonderful product.

Blush -E.L.F. - Shimmering Facial Whip
rated 5 of 5
Kali89 6/17/2012 2:07:00 AM

I happened to be in a Target far from home (the local one doesn't carry elf), when I saw this product. I've always been curious about Benefits Highbeam. I'm just not too keen on spending a lot of money I haven't tried first. I digress. When I saw this was only one dollar I picked it up. I love this product. The pink tint looks nice on my skin. It's sparkling, but without stripper sparkles. I used to use Dior's Skinflash on my dark circles, then put mineral concealer over that. I find this works so much better. The concealer covers the sparkle but still reflects the light from the mouse. I believe because the whip is slightly pink it corrects some (not all) darkness. I apply with fingertips then blend it with a brush. I also use it on the top of my cheekbones and down the center of my nose. I will probably still buy the Highbeam, but I'll still purchase this because it travels better.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking Mascara
rated 3 of 5
Kali89 6/8/2012 2:49:00 AM

I liked this mascara. It really lengthened my lashes. Not much volume but pretty nice. My problem was with the flaking. Maybe I had a defective bottle, but 15 minutes after applying It had rained black specks all under my eyes and on my cheeks. This really irritated my eyes because I wear contacts. I liked how much it lengthened though so I tried for three days to love it. But when I touched the specks they smeared badly because the formula was somehow still wet?!? It also has an off-putting smell that lingers for a good while. For $30 I just expected more. Overall, if they fixed the flaking I would consider repurchasing this product, but until then I can't put my eyes through that.

Eye Shadow -Almay - Almay Intense I-color powder shadow trio for Hazels #103 (cream, brown, pink)
rated 4 of 5
Kali89 6/8/2012 2:34:00 AM

I have brown eyes but use this product. I find it to be a good everyday look. Great for the price. I like the three colors together and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find these colors together in high-end compacts. My only complaint is that I don't feel the color payoff in the brown color is what it should be. I've been looking for a similar product by Makeup Forever or Smashbox but I just can't seem find cream, pink, and brown together anywhere. I like the new packaging much more. I would always run out of the pink and still have all this brown and cream left so this is a vast improvement. Overall a nice little product. I will rebuy until I find a similar trio with a better brown.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
rated 5 of 5
Kali89 6/8/2012 2:08:00 AM

My name is Kali and I am a chronic cosmetic buyer. I have tried so much makeup and mascara especially. This is my HG mascara. I don't use that lightly. I'm not saying I'll never stray because God knows I will, but this is really nice. I wasn't sure about it's cult status and didn't want to pay for the name. So I waited and waited to try it. The sample duo at sephora is around $20. I will not pay that for samples I'm not even sure I'll like, especially when a full-size tube is only $5 more! Then one magical day I saw sephora had a special edition color full-size diorshow mascara for $15 and on top of that I had a coupon AND free shipping. I saw my window and jumped out of it and landed on the cloud that is this mascara. This gives my lashes curl (I never curl them) volume and length. Bonus: it doesn't irritate my contacts. It does smudge just slightly under my eyes, but I prefer that to flaking because of my contacts. I also rub my eyes a lot (full knuckle in eye socket rubbing) and even after, if I wipe under my eyes the mascara looks defined and nice. No lie. Truly impressive. Others that don't hold up to this: YSL faux cils, Smashbox Hyperlash, Benefit They're Real!, and any Clinique mascara, Lancome's are okay. I still need to try Eyes to Kill and SmokeyLash.

Brows -Maybelline - Master Shape
rated 1 of 5
Kali89 5/19/2012 5:49:00 AM

I enjoyed the product inside the pencil, but I would not have bought if I knew it would need sharpened. That sucks. Just completely sucks. I actually came on here to see if anyone knew how to twist the stupid thing up. I want to say I'm the idiot, but come on. What makeup company would make sharpening pencil out of plastic. Maybelline, that's who. Maybe she's born with it, maybe we won't make products that are easily operable. I will only repurchase this if the packaging is changed to a twist up version. That said, I liked the product. I have normal or slightly sparse brows, but the individual hairs are long. I won't trim them because I feel it fills in the places that aren't as naturally full as I'd like. The wax keeps the long hairs at bay. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who has very, very little or no brows, but I think it may be one of my favorites. I've used Sephora's brand (ehh, very red-tinted), Diorshow brow (my favorite, but the universal brown just isn't dark enough), Revlon (2nd favorite - very waxy - you don't get much), Define-a-Brow (eeeevil! Broke every single time) and Sharpening pencils galore. UPDATE: I take it back. I take it all back. This pencil is Satan incarnate. After you pass the initial unsharpened product and go through the ordeal of sharpening it is too soft and really shiny. Because it is so soft too much product goes on even using a light hand. THEN when you try to super blend it out it leaves a very yellowish-muddy cast to it. Don't buy this and if did don't wait to return it.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 1 of 5
Kali89 1/27/2012 4:53:00 AM

I bought this and my brother bought this. I used it, but not everyday as directed and my little bit of acne got so much worse so I stopped using it. After stopping my skin cleared up. But that's alright because I didn't follow the directions. I'm giving it such a bad rating because my brother has epilepsy and his medication gives him acne. His doctor told him to try proactive. He used it everyday as directed and his acne just got worse and worse. He finally quit using it because his face was better without it. He started using neut. foaming cleanser and he is all cleared up at $7 with only one step. On top of that we had a hard time getting them to stop mailing it to us after we canceled. We still had to pay for it even though we knew it didn't work and now have four months and $80 worth of unopened proactive in two different houses. Save yourself 6 months of effort and a lot of money.
