Concealers -Rimmel - Match Perfection Concealer
rated 5 of 5

Rimmel's Match Perfection concealer is one of the best concealers I have ever used. In short, it's long lasting, has good coverage, matches my skin-tone well, and has a nice, thin consistency that works well underneath the eyes or on blemishes for a very natural finish. Each time I've bought it, it's never costed more than $5, and it lasts quite a long time, even though I've used it daily. I will repurchase until I find something better. To start, I'm quite fair-skinned (L'Oreal True Match in Porcelain is about the closest match to my skintone), and I have severe dark circles. I currently use the shade "Fair," and it works well with my skin, I feel. As a teenager, I hate wearing much on my skin base-wise as it is, and I have a very difficult time finding concealers that don't crease or look obvious beneath my eyes. I originally bought this in the shade "Light" a little under a year ago, a shade that would match most light skintones (or me during the summer). I didn't expect it to work so well. It's actually a highlighting concealer, but there is no shimmer or glitter to it even in natural daylight or flash photography. It has good coverage but looks very natural- it's creamy and covers, but it somehow blends very thinly, which I love. It doesn't build up under the eyes either. I personally like the squeezy tube and the brush on the end is quite soft, but take care not to squeeze out too much. I can't say much about the whole color-changing-matching-whatever system, but, in using the "Light" shade, I found it went on initially lighter, then it oxidized within the next minute. No further oxidation occured after that and it set nicely. I suggest buying the lighter shade if you are between shades to compensate. Once on, this concealer doesn't feel hydrating nor drying; it feels like skin. Skin-type wise, I haven't experienced any difficulties, and my eyes range from very dry to oily. I recommend this product to those of us who have fair to light-medium skin who want an all-around good concealer or a dark-circle cover up at a very reasonable price. It is well worth the $4.27 or whatever you will pay for it. Try it out!

Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
rated 5 of 5
Kalady 7/25/2012 3:10:00 PM

The Basics: PROS: soft, clean scent, doesn't irritate sensitive skin, mattifies beautifully, covers minor redness, doesn't look cakey, feels nice, looks like real skin (only better), inexpensive, lots of powder CONS: none to be noted. This powder is absolutely amazing. I needed a good, clean setting powder for my concealer as well as my T-zone. I was so impressed by the quality of this product, especially for the price ($5 at Walmart). It is fine and cottony soft, blending into the skin beautifully. I love the smell and the elegance of the packaging. The look it gives is almost "soft focus;" it blurs imperfections and covers minor redness. The container is absolutely full still and I've used it every day for over 4 months. I've recommended it to everyone I know. Very impressed. 5/5.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Brightening Eyeliner - Ash
rated 4 of 5
Kalady 6/26/2012 9:23:00 PM

Basics: PROS- good pigmentation, pretty color, smudges well, soft pencil, inexpensive, comes with an amazing sharpener CONS- wears easily if not set with a shadow This is currently my favorite eyeliner. I like to play with crazy colors (blues, purples, greens, etc.), but this one is perfect for everything. I find that this pencil is soft and workable, and it is perfect for a soft, smudgy smokey look. I apply this on my top lash-line and smudge it/set it with a mid-tone brown shade or a silver one. This doesn't last too long on the waterline (it's not waterproof, however), and the color quickly fades if it is not set. Overall, though, I adore this liner for both the quality, price, color, and the amazing sharpener it comes with (if you don't like the liner, that tool is alone worth your huge $1 investment).

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Kalady 6/26/2012 9:15:00 PM

Basics: PROS: Dark, long-lasting, quick results, soft texture on lashes, easy removal, no clumping, above average lengthening and volume CONS: Flakes a bit, too easily rubbed off at times, brush may distribute too much product Overall, I like this product. I'm a definite mascara junkie; it's my one essential product. Because of this, I like to play around with it a lot and buy many different types. Full 'N Soft is my current day-to-day mascara. I find it to be a very easy formula, one you don't have to think about putting on in the morning, and it'll still turn out fantastic. The brush is very wide and soft: the bristles are the hair ones, and it tappers to a point. This brush really helps create a lot of volume in the lashes without making them look clumpy or ugly in an unrealistic way. The formula is a rich, thicker black that is about half the wetness of LashBlast. There's no discernible smell and the lashes turn out clean, separated, and physically soft. The only true negative is that the regular version tends to flake or smudge when it is touched: as long as your eyes don't water and you don't rub them often, you should be fine. I like this product and would buy it again if I needed a reliable mascara.

Concealers -Pixi - Correction Concentrate- Brightening Peach
rated 2 of 5
Kalady 6/26/2012 9:00:00 PM

Basics: PROS- Great, drugstore-worthy color, smooth and creamy texture, brightening CONS- Fades very quickly (<2 hours) on my skin :( I'm always on the hunt for a great drugstore concealer. This Pixi one, previous to buying, seemed to meet all my requirements: peach toned, brightening, in a small pot, good reviews from the Alley. However, this product (sadly) failed to meet my expectations. I thought this was going to be a ultra-pigmented, long-lasting under-eye concealer to solve my poor, natural raccoon eyes. While the pigment and brightening was good, I found that even set with a long-lasting powder, this concealer started to fade after the third hour of wear. I really wish the lasting power was better... especially since this product is a touch expensive for the drugstore at $15. Overall, it's an okay product: the color is what I wanted, the pigmentation is above average, and the texture is rich and creamy. However, the lasting power completely undermines this product and yields it close to useless, unfortunately, for me. My hunt continues!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 5 of 5
Kalady 12/25/2011 9:56:00 PM

This is definitely one of my HG mascaras (the other being the purple Last Blast who's name isn't coming to mind). Firstly and foremost, this mascara does what it claims it will. It volumizes the lashes beautifully but naturally, and it seems to lengthen them as well. The colors are true, and most importantly, it seriously is waterproof. I swim and scuba dive, and no matter what, it stays on, doesn't smudge, and doesn't wear off. Secondly, there is no clumping whatsoever. I'm pretty sure that it's because it contains silicon (the element that makes makeup smooth), but I'm not completely sure. All I care about is that it works- and it does; I can build my lashes to the point that they're falsies without the obvious look or that weird, crunchy feeling. Lastly, this stuff lasts for forever. I use it daily, and it lasts nearly 6 months. The tube is huge and you get what you paid for and more. Only downside is that this stuff is so waterproof it can be difficult to remove. I suggest using olive oil from your kitchen as an affordable remover, especially if you plan to use it daily. Just swipe it over your lashes and remove. 5/5 - Will repurchase probably for the rest of my life.

Concealers -Maybelline - Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer
rated 3 of 5
Kalady 12/19/2011 8:16:00 PM

Not the best, not the worst concealer. I started out using this when I first started wearing makeup, and I didn't really like it. However, I've restarted using it and its grown on me. Now I use it on a daily basis. PROS: -Pretty Opaque -Compact Packaging -Good Lasting Power -Seems to clear up any blemishes Overall, good. However, this product (or at least the one I bought) is severely yellow-toned. This makes it nice for acne but horrible for dark circles, which turn a sickly green. Along the same lines, this doesn't seem to be a great concealer to use alone- the yellow tone looks odd by itself. I mix it with my foundation to tone down the shade, or wear it under it. Overall, it's an okay concealer if you're active, travel a lot, or have small blemishes. It works for me decently.
