Lips -Burt's Bees - Rose Tinted Lip Balm
rated 2 of 5
Junwwu 1/13/2013 5:13:00 AM

I really wanted to like this product because I'm looking for a good, easy-to-find tinted lip balm and I like the all-natural component of Burt's Bees. I used up all my favorite Lip Quench from Pacifica, and since Sephora no longer stocks it, was looking for an alternative lip balm. The price was a little steep at $7. I had a slight discount and got it for about $6, but that's still on the more expensive end for a tinted lip balm. The outside packaging is nice; it comes in a pretty cardboard tube that's nicely designed, but the lip balm tube inside the cardboard tube isn't as impressive. It's a plain, brown plastic tube of lip balm that doesn't look particularly sleek. The smell is weird and like plastic, something unexpected considering it's all-natural and my previous experiences with Burt's Bees lip balms have pleasant scents (or at least the pomegranate lip balm does). It also seems to go on a little too slickly, slightly more oily than I like my lip balms. However, the biggest miss for me with this tinted lip balm is that it lacks much of a tint. The pigmentation is quite awful and much much less than the rich color it's supposed to be on the packaging. It tints my lips by the tinniest fraction, but is too oily to layer more on for a deeper shade. For me, the "tint" part of a tinted lip balm is the most important aspect; if I wanted plain lip balm, I'd buy plain lip balm (for a lot cheaper too).

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
rated 5 of 5

I have another Burt's Bees lip balm, the honey one, that doesn't impress me at all. This one, however is great! It goes on incredibly smoothly and has a pleasant scent in my opinion. It smells vaguely of strawberry or some other berry, not pomegranate though (I don't think pomegranate has a particularly recognizable scent anyways). It moisturizes really well, and has a very very very slight tint. I'd prefer if it had more tint, but since this isn't marketed as a tinted lip balm, I didn't score it down for it. This sinks in fairly quickly and leaves my lips feeling very soft afterwards. It's also all natural, like all of Burt's Bees products. However, it doesn't have spf. I'd repurchase this again as my main nothing-added lip balm.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Honey Lip Balm
rated 3 of 5
Junwwu 1/10/2013 10:50:00 PM

This is my first Burt's Bees lip balm; I have never tried the original. It moisturizes fairly well, but I think it's big draw point is that it's all natural and made with beeswax and natural oils like sunflower instead of petroleum. However, I am not fond of this one's scent at all. It smells overpoweringly of baby powder, with a slight tinge of honey, and it's overly strong. There's nothing spectacular about this balm, and the smell is distasteful. It gets points for being all natural though, but I'd really recommend another balm from Burt's Bees, such as the pomegranate one.

Treatments -Biosilk - Silk Therapy
rated 5 of 5

I found this in my drawer somewhere, I don't remember how much it cost. I've seen it at Costco however and it's fairly expensive, about $20 for a small bottle. I dyed my hair recently, and it's become very dry and brittle with split ends. This product really helps to return shine and repair my hair! My hair texture is like I've never dyed it, thick and slick since I have Asian hair. I use this after I wash my hair and when it's still damp. Then I blow dry my hair and this product makes my hair soft and shiny. I don't use it very often, maybe once or twice a week to keep my hair looking nice and glowing. It's thick and needs to be shaken before use, or else you get this thin liquidy stuff. I've never used it on dry hair, but I imagine it could easily make it extremely greasy if too much is used. The smell is rather strong, but not unpleasant. It smells a bit like rose and gardenia. I will repurchase when this bottle runs out because it's perfect for keeping my hair beautiful. Edit: I didn't realize how much I treasure this stuff until I went on vacation and used the hotel shampoos that turned my hair into literal straw. I've never had my hair that dry or disgusting before. I used this product immediately when I returned home and it returned my hair to its beautiful state; soft, silky, and shiny. I'll never go without this again.

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Revitalizing lip balm
rated 4 of 5

I wanted a good tinted lip balm with spf, and this seemed to be the product. I have this in Healthy Blush. The scent is nice and light, vaguely like cucumber aloe. It goes on very smoothly, almost a little slick. The color of Healthy Blush is very nice and natural, with just a tint of color. I don't like the shimmer in it though. The tube itself is shaped interestingly, it's an oval rather than a circle. This is actually really useful because if you apply it to your lips horizontally, it will reach the thinner edges of your lips would getting everywhere. It was on the expensive side, around $7-8 if I remember right. I really like that it has spf 20 also, so my lips are not only moisturized, they have sun protection too. Overall this is a good product, not exceptional, but very good.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Total Face Brush
rated 2 of 5
Junwwu 9/3/2012 10:52:00 PM

This brush is very stiff and scratchy! It feels like coconut fiber rubbing on my face! However it did apply my powder blush and other powders, it just did it in the most uncomfortable way ever. It was only a buck, so I guess there's not much room for complaints, but it really is very scratchy. I guess if you're really strapped for cash and need something to apply powdery make-up with this will be pretty functional. Just don't expect any softness.

Cleansers -Kanebo - naive facial cleansing foam - green tea
rated 5 of 5
Junwwu 8/30/2012 2:58:00 AM

I saw this at the Asian supermarket and decided to give it a try since I have Asian skin and my current cleanser at the time wasn't doing a great job. That was more than 2 years ago, and I still use this cleanser! It smells soo good, not much like green tea, but a mild creamy sweet scent that's light. You also only need very very little of this product to get a nice foam, and it cleans off make up well. It's gentle while still getting my face very clean, and it doesn't overdry my skin. I haven't tried the other scents yet, but I want to once this runs out (though that takes a while since I use so little every time) This product is great and I worry about when I go to college and don't have access to Asian supermarkets to buy it anymore!!

Masks -Freeman - freeman superfruits detoxifying clay facial mask
rated 4 of 5
Junwwu 8/30/2012 2:48:00 AM

I love this mask!! It makes my face feel so smooth and soft after using it, and it's pretty cheap. I use it once a week since I have normal-dry skin. There are two minor things I dislike about this mask but don't stop me from enjoying it: then scent and how it makes my eyes water when I first put it on. The scent isn't unpleasant, just a little overpowering and artificial. My sister says she likes the scent though, so I guess it's personal preference. This product also makes my eyes sting and water when I put it on, and I can't figure out why. It's uncomfortable but it goes away quickly. Overall I really like the product and it makes my skin feel soo nice afterwards. The reason why I wouldn't buy this particular one again is because I want to try all the other ones from this brand!

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment
rated 1 of 5
Junwwu 8/29/2012 10:13:00 PM

My mom uses this, and she gave me one to try too. It broke my face out terribly the first time I used it!! I have normal skin on the dry side, and I rarely break out badly, but this stuff did it! I tried it a second time a few days ago, hoping that the first time was a coincidence. Not so, this product broke my face out again, even on my cheeks! My cheeks tend to be the driest parts of my face, and I have NEVER broken out like this product made me on my cheeks. The packaging is nice, but the product is terrible, especially for the price. The smell is also very overpowering, not super terrible, but there's definitely a more "older woman" scent. I definitely would not recommend this.

Conditioner -John Frieda - Radiant Red Color Magnifying Daily Conditioner with Light Enhancers
rated 5 of 5
Junwwu 8/24/2012 2:11:00 AM

I bought this on sale at CVS since I recently dyed my hair red. Normally it's on the expensive side at about $9-$12 for a medium sized tube. It's not gonna break the bank, but it's not cheap either. The conditioner comes in a nice, classy bottle, and it comes out of the tube a vivid red. It's thick and applies really well for me; it really untangles my hair and leaves it feeling slick and shiny. On a side note my hair is thick and Asian, so it's pretty shiny to begin with. I haven't really noticed a difference between this conditioner and my current Dove Daily Moisture Therapy one other than that this one is touted for color and to protect my nice shade of deep red. However, my Dove conditioner works well for me, so this is just what I'm looking for in terms of a conditioner. As far as color protecting goes, since this is the first time I've dyed my hair red, I really can't compare it to any other shampoo on dyed hair. My red coloration doesn't seem to be fading, but then again I've only had it dyed about two weeks. This product gets a 5 for being a good conditioner that leaves my hair smooth, and so far it seems to be protecting my color well.

Lotions/ Creams -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Hand Cream
rated 4 of 5
Junwwu 8/19/2012 1:25:00 AM

This hand lotion is really concentrated and works on my super dry hands. However it leaves my hands feeling sticky rather than smooth, but it definitely moisturizes and makes my hands soft. It's a good overnight hand cream since it's a little too heavy for day use. This is the hand cream to go for if you have super dry hands and need some serious moisturizing.

Lotions/ Creams -Cerave - Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
Junwwu 8/19/2012 1:19:00 AM

This lotion is awesome!! It's the best moisturizing, non-oily lotion I've used. I have super dry legs but most lotions leave a sticky, oily residue that I hate. Not Cerave, it leaves my legs smooth and soft, no stickiness at all. It's a bit pricey though, I bought mine for about $20. The tub is really big, so it makes up for the cost a bit. However, the tub packaging isn't very sanitary, and debris tends to get in it, especially after a longer period of time (which it will be, considering how big a tub is). Overall this lotion is great!! Highly recommend!!

Lip Treatments -Chapstick - True Shimmer
rated 3 of 5
Junwwu 8/19/2012 1:10:00 AM

I have this Chapstick in the berry version. I was hoping for a good tinted lip balm and this falls short of my expectations. First is the scent, which I find is very fake and sickeningly sweet and waxy. Another con is the shimmer, which I find makes my lips look paler rather than redder. There's a lot more shimmer than color, making this more like a frosted lip color instead of a lightly red, shimmery tinted one. In terms of moisturization it's only average, but not terrible. The lasting power isn't great though. I won't buy this again because there are much better tinted lip balms out there that won't make your lips look frosted (unless that's what you're going for).

Lip Treatments -Chapstick - Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 Original Flavor
rated 4 of 5
Junwwu 8/19/2012 1:01:00 AM

I have this Chapstick from a package of several different types. This one is my favorite because it's spf 15 and has a nice scent. It's also fairly moisturizing, slightly better than your average lip balm. Chapstick in general is a pretty affordable, average lip balm. The scent is light and vaguely like vanilla, much better than the weird spiciness of the Original I hate, or of the overpowering fake cherry and strawberry scents. Overall, not an exceptional lip balm, but it gets the job done and has spf 15 to boot.

Polishes -Sinful - Nail Polish (all colors)
rated 4 of 5
Junwwu 8/19/2012 12:54:00 AM

Sinful colors is a fairly cheap, nice quality nail polish. I find they're a little hit-and-miss, some are exceptional while some are average or a little below average. I have yet to find any truly terrible Sinful polishes. The formulas are mostly smooth and thick, and usually about two coats will do the trick. A few, such as 979 Aquamarine, are super nice and only require one coat for a smooth glossy finish. The staying power is good, but not exceptional. Mine usually last 4-5 days before chipping with a top coat. The price is the main attention grabber of Sinful, being usually about $2 a bottle. It's not the cheapest there is, but for the quality trade off Sinful is very good.
