Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
Jules4272 3/4/2013 5:24:00 PM
Oh, how I despise this mascara. I have no idea why this mascara has a reputation for being the "classic" mascara. Immediately, this mascara made my curled eyelashes wilt and droop. My lashes clumped together after only 1 coat and the product itself was gloopy and a little gross to be honest. Since I was in a rush to get to work when I applied this, I used a pencil to separate my lashes as best as I could and ran out the door. When I had time to check it on my lunch break (about 4 hours later), I was shocked that no one had said anything to me! There were not only black smudges under my eyes and all over my lids, but there were black crumbly pieces that had fallen onto my cheeks. Overall, stay away from this mascara, I've never used a more horrible product!

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
Jules4272 3/4/2013 4:42:00 PM
Pretty good concealer, especially for the price! I was looking for a concealer that would help me hide my acne scars and found some people were recommending Hardy Candy. Since I live in Canada, I had to scour through Wal-mart to find this brand, but when I did I was super happy to see that the concealer was only $6 and had the words "heavy-duty" on it (which sounded pretty promising). Please keep in mind that I don't often wear full-coverage foundation. I like BB creams and foundations with a light to medium coverage because I find them easier to work with on a daily basis and my skin seems to tolerate them better. A heavier foundation may give a different effect with this concealer. But for me, this concealer managed to cover most of my acne marks. It's a pretty creamy product though, so I am careful to not rub it too much when I apply my BB cream over top and I always always always set it with translucent powder. It does face a bit after 6 hours at school or work, but even then, it still diminishes the look of my scars. Overall, it's not a miracle product, but it's definitely a decent concealer for small areas.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Powder Brush
Jules4272 3/4/2013 4:33:00 PM
Too many great things about this product! It's sleek, it works great with any product I've used it with (though it's a powder brush, I've used it for blush too), it's soft, easy to clean, it's a good price for a full size brush and it's eco-friendly! My only teeny-tiny complaint? That it's too big to fit in my travel make-up bag with the rest of my make-up in it. But, I am perfectly happy to move some stuff around to accommodate this brush! Overall, such a great find!

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Replenishing Face Creme with 5% Urea
Jules4272 3/4/2013 4:25:00 PM
I cannot express how much I love this product! I first starting using this cream when I was on a medication called Acutane, which you may have guessed is for acne. For those who have never been on Acutane or don't know, it's extremely drying for your skin, like crazy drying! Huge flakes of skin would fall off of my face before I was using Eucerin, that's how drying it was. And as if having acne wasn't hurtful enough, people would comment on how it looked like I was shedding. But when I started using Eucerin, literally overnight my skin felt hydrated and soft again. This is as close to a miracle product as I've ever gotten! Even now that I'm off of Acutane, I still use this product for the majority of the year. It's soothing and hydrating in the fall/winter, but also just as effective for my oily skin in the spring/summer (though during the hotter seasons, I tend to just use it at night because it doesn't have SPF). Overall, seriously an amazing face cream!

Blush -Hard Candy - Fox in a Box Spicy & Sweet
Jules4272 3/4/2013 4:13:00 PM
Love this blush! Such a great product for such a great price! (I got mine for about $4 and I live in Canada, so I can't imagine how much cheaper it must be in the US!) Will definitely have a hard time paying more for a blush in the future because of Fox in a Box. The packaging is a little cheap and cutesy, and I would not recommend using the brush it comes with, but those are my only complaints! Otherwise, this blush stays all day, is pigmented enough that I don't feel like I'm wasting product, but also isn't so pigmented that I'm scared every time I use it. Because it's got 4 colours in it, I can almost customize the colour I want for that particular day! I tend to use the 2 colours on the left hand side of the square, but that's just my preference! The bronze-y colour gives a great glow on my complexion (which in the winter is similar in hue to a piece of paper, but in spring/summer is a nice golden shade). Overall, a great product!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
Jules4272 3/4/2013 4:02:00 PM
Plush? Yes. Volume? Not so much. This is a pretty good mascara if you want it for a natural-ish daytime look. It separates the lashes pretty well, and holds a curl for the entire day (I have the waterproof version though, so I'm not sure how the regular version does on this point). I personally wouldn't try adding too many coats with this mascara because a) it'd be pretty hard to in the first place with the springy/floppy brush, and b) it makes the lashes stick together after more than a few coats. Note: If you want a bit more product and want to avoid the spidery look, use a business card as a lid protector (between your lashes and you eyelid). Not only will the card protect your lid from tricky to remove mascara smudges, but it will allow you to push the brush up against the lashes more. Overall, great for a quick, daytime swipe, but definitely does not give the volume it implies it will.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous Waterproof
Jules4272 3/4/2013 3:49:00 PM
This mascara is my basic go-to product. It's the mascara that I don't have to think about buying when I am need. That being said, it's not a perfect product. As someone with bone-straight eyelashes that are decently long, my mascara has to be waterproof and have holding power, or else, sorry but what ever other benefits it may have had, I just won't notice. In my experience, waterproof mascaras tend to have the best holding power. L'Oreal Voluminous Waterproof does a great job of getting my lashes up (with the help of a curler of course, this isn't a miracle product) and keeping them up. Since so few other mascaras do this for me, Voluminous already gets points from me, but like I said earlier, this product isn't perfect. It does tend to smudge a little part way through the day, though this may be partially because I have very oily skin. And though it smudges, I never notice that it detracts from the look of my mascara, nor is it difficult to quickly wipe away. Back to the good things; Despite being waterproof, it's easily washable with just water and a bit of face wash. It's buildable without clumping (within reason of course, all mascaras are going to look clumpy after a certain amount of coats!), which is great because it means I don't have to use a different mascara for school as I do for going out. Regularly priced at about $10 (here in Canada), but it often goes on sale for $5 to $7, which is pretty good. Overall, this is a great standard mascara if you don't wind wiping under your eyes maybe once (and really only maybe) during the day!
